Marcus walked through the stalls, seeing others working the leather or fangs to make armor or weapons such as daggers or arrowheads, some by hand, others by magic.
When he got to the center of the crater, he saw a few stalls with the symbol of the red cross; some had people in gear or clothing that looked to be healers' garb, while others had row upon row of vials.
He chose to go to one of the stalls with the vials, "What do you have, and what do you want in trade?"
"I have some low to mid-grade healing potions along with some mana potions of the same levels, and just about anything useful, I'm out here while my friends take a shift in there to get better weapons or skills," the young woman running the stall told him while showing the different lines on the tables dividing the level of the vials.
"How many, and what's your gender ratio?"
"Four of us and all girls were the cheer squad from Sunnydale High until this happened; Cordy would have been here with us, except she's been hanging out with the geek squad," the girl said with a shrug and frown.
"You do know the geek squad, as you call them, have been fighting to keep things like this from happening for years, right?" he said while poking one of the vials to get the pop-up telling him which was which and their level.
"Yeah, I do now, but they didn't do it right this time, did they," she said while ignoring his poking the potions as almost everyone did it to make sure they were legit.
"No, they didn't but then again they were caught up in the spell just like most everyone else because Halloween is supposed to be a calm night for the supernatural world and they were hoping for a quiet night for once, I've got wither a tent for you to use for a home that should be enough room for four or four bracers for communications and scanning stuff," he told her the offered what he thought would be something she and her friends needed.
"We already have one of those tents each and the arm thingy; the geeks have been handing them out at the school for those who lost their homes when the monsters destroyed stuff," she told him, holding up her arm and showing the bracer.
"Yeah, I know, but I've got some of those larger tents that make the tent you have to look like a cardboard box," he told her, pulling the factory tent from his backpack.
"How did you get that? The geeks don't let anyone near them once they got everyone in one of the single-person tents," she asked seeing that it was marked just like the big tent she and the other stayed in until they got their tents and arm things.
"My girlfriend and I make them just like the bracer you have there," he told her pointing at her arm.
"What can it do the one we stayed in was just beds and food areas?"
He told her all the things the tent could do, he wasn't worried about her or her friends making or trading the smaller tents or bracers because it would take some strain off of the scoobies.
"What do you want for that?" she asked eyes widening as he finished telling her about the tent.
"Two of each midgrade potion," he told her with a smile.
"Deal, and you don't mind us using it to make stuff to trade?"
"No, we are spreading these out to help people; the more of these out there, the easier it will be to help others," he told her, passing her the tent and picking up two of the midgrade healing and mana potions.
"Thanks, the girls, and I can get some good stuff for those things it can make."
"Just make sure you set it up back in the city where it is safe, out here someone could steal it from you while you are dealing with someone else," he warned and received a nod as she turned to hide the tent in the bag she got from the geeks with the tent and bracer.
When she returned, he left with his potions; he had only stayed so nobody could steal the things she had for trade; it took him a few minutes to get back to the two teen girls just in time to see Kendra beating off a group of thuggish-looking men.
Enraged, he lept at the men calling his staff to hand. He attacked the group from behind, striking arms, legs, and shoulders, leaving them groaning or crying as he made his way to Kendra's side.
When he made it to Kendra he saw she was being overwhelmed, while one of the men had Faith pressed to the ground and pulling her at her pants with one hand while the other held a knife to her throat, ignoring his companions being beaten down as he focused on Faith and that was his undoing as Marcus swung his staff and struck him in the side of the head sending him rolling over a dozen feet taking down the last of the group, Kendra faced.
"Are you two alright?" he asked as he scanned the group of men.
Faith was trying to fix her pants but was having trouble as one of her arms was now broken, "Hell no I aint okay these bastards jumped us, and if she weren't able to fight they would have beaten us and worse considering what that one was trying to do," Faith swore while giving up on fixing her pants, just glad Marcus was keeping his eyes on her's.
"Kendra, help her with her pants while I take care of these," he told her, then turned to the downed men and began gathering them up, conjuring a rope and tying them together.
When he was done tying them up, he dragged them away from the girls but kept the two in sight; when he saw from the distance that Kendra had Faith standing and adjusting her pants, she then turned and waved for him to come back.
When he rejoined them, he noticed Faith cradling her arm while leaning against Kendra taking her weight off of her broken leg.
Looking her over he shook his head then pulled the vial holding the mid-grade healing potion and handed it to her, "Drink this, it's for healing,"
Faith took the vial, hoping these two weren't like those men, downing the vial with closed eyes dreading the worst until her entire body began to feel light and tingly, after a few minutes all of her pain faded as her arm and leg bones twisted and popped back into place then itched as they knitted back together.
"Woah, that's some good shit," Faith said once her body felt normal, then she bounced on her toes.
Marcus smiled as he watched the girl move around, testing out what the potion had healed, "So, do you want to go in with us? Kendra here needs to test out new gear and I need to talk to the core."
"What's in it for me?" Faith asked.
"Weapons and armor, possibly growing in strength. Also, we want to take you to Sunnydale, where the nearest safe zone is," he told her with a smile.
"Sounds good but what's up with her? How is she so strong?"
"I was a slayer until I died during a fight. He revived me, but I was in a coma for a few months," Kendra answered for herself but kept the fact it happened in another world as well as Diana being revived as well, knowing that the woman was dead here and how much it may hurt the new slayer.
"Damn that sucks, so you got some mojo to bring back the dead?" Faith asked looking impressed.
Marcus shook his head, "No, her heart had stopped, but her brain and cells were still alive; I healed the wounds she had, then gave her a shock to restart her heart," he explained.
"Damn, I was hoping I could get you to bring back D," she said, shoulder slumping.
"I'm sorry if I could, I would bring Diana back for you, but the only method I know for time travel won't work here and now," he told her, shaking his head.
That caught her attention, "How do you know so much about me? And what do you mean by the method of time travel you know won't work here?"
He explained how he was a reality traveler, "The only way I know to travel time uses a slingshot around the sun at near lightspeed, and right now outside the atmosphere would give people who like Lovecraftian stories nightmares plus this world doesn't exist beyond Halloween night in the past."
"What does that mean? The world doesn't exist before Halloween?"
Sighing he explained more about how the magic that caused everything split this world and people off from the world they knew.
"Well shit, what am I going to do without the vampires I'm supposed to be hunting if they are not the top threat anymore?"
"You can do what you want, hunt monsters out in the world, and help people survive until the world stabilizes in the next few years."
Faith seemed to think that over, "Yeah, I think I can do that, so about this thing, how does that work?" she asked, pointing to the dungeon entrance.
"Ever play video games?" he asked while typing up a message to Hermione that he had found Faith outside the dungeon and was talking to her about entering with himself and Kendra.
"Some but not many. Most of the foster homes I was in didn't have them."
"Well, it's simple you and one or two others go in and kill the monster to get loot where you can trade it for gear you can use out here as well as growing stronger after killing enough monsters and kind of level up," he explained, as Hermione sent a reply to his message.
"Okay, well, let's get going," she said while turning and walking toward the dungeon.
Kendra felt like she was going to have whiplash from Faith's mood swinging so rapidly, she looked at Marcus who shrugged and followed Faith to the dungeon with Kendra trotting behind him.
When they got to the entrance Marcus told the two to put a hand on his shoulder, when they did he put his hand on the portal and read the prompt that asked if he wanted to return to the last level he had been to or start at the beginning of the dungeon he chose to start at the beginning.
After the sideways sliding feeling left them, they found themselves standing in the first-floor safe room, "Okay, first here, Kendra, give this to Faith and show her how to use it," he said while passing over a jewel.
Kendra nodded took the jewel and turned to Faith as he turned to face away from them so Faith could use it, so he did not see her naked for even the second it took the jewel to form the armor that looked like her clothing would if it wasn't torn up from combat adding an ankle-length black trench coat her weapon turned out to be a dual set of daggers just like Kendra's.
"Sweet Mama, this shit is awesome, but why are you giving it to me?" Faith asked as she examined the things she now wore.
"You are the slayer and can use all the help you can get, plus you two will be beta-testing it for me," he told her turning to see her new outfit.
"Well, you ain't getting this back; I won't need to go looking for new clothes after fighting stuff," Faith said while caressing her new coat.
"Never intended taking it back," he told her then gave her a quick rundown on how the jewel had a limited A.I that learned to be more user-friendly and would eventually deploy the equipment when it was needed, he then told them that they could go all out fighting the monster in here and then pointed to the large lizards.
"These are constructs in here but if they aren't culled, periodically they can break out of the dungeon and attack and damage people, so don't hold back I'll pick up the loot and watch how things with the gear work as you go," he said then watched as they two tore into the lizards faster than the slayer powers should allow them to.
As they moved he made sure to keep track of which pile of loot belonged to which girl and pulled them to him and put them in separate pockets of his backpack.
It only took them a few minutes to make it to the boss's door, he had them rest for a bit then let them enter and take down the hoard of lizards telling them that it may call more to the fight and wished that he hadn't told them that as they took an hour to fight the summoned mob until They grew tired of it and together killed the boss monster.
"Well, you two sure do know how to fight, and I've noticed that your blades coat themselves in wind magic to sharpen their edges; while it looks like your coats and boots add to your speed, Kendra, I also see fire and ice marks, on your kills before they dissolve."
Kendra smiled and looked happy at his words while Faith bounced around on her feet, trying to get a feel of the wind helping her move; suddenly, she shot into the air as her jewel called out in a monotone voice, 'Winds grace.'
"Woah," Faith called out before bouncing around the room from pillar to pillar before gliding to a sliding stop on the floor near Kendra.
"Okay, work on that to be able to control it; as you go, eventually, you could fly or at least glide around in combat."
Kendra tried copying Faith, but instead of wind lifting her from the ground she was wrapped in flames while ice formed under her feat, 'Frozen Firebrand' A similar monotone voice came from her jewel, Kendra took a step and flashed across the room leaving a trail of ice and fire behind her, when she came to a stop the combination of hot and cold caused a small explosion that sent out a burning and frozen cross that cut deeply into the wall she was facing.
"Holy shit, K, you hit the jackpot; that should do some heavy damage to what you run into," Faith said after having to nearly pick her jaw from the floor.
"Yes, I think I did," Kendra said after picking up her jaw and grinned broadly.
"Okay, you guys have picked up some basic skills but also need to remember that these are the first steps; always remember to try new things to expand your arsenal," Marcus said, smiling as the two teens acted like teens instead of soldiers they had been meant to be as the slayer.
When the boss had dissolved it left a large pile of hides as well as an even amount of coins which he divided and put in the pickets for each girl but the skill book it left needed to be decided on who it went to as he had been ensuring each girl had gotten at least one copy of the others in their pockets.
"Okay, let's take another break; while you two rest, you need to choose who gets that skill while also learning some of the other skills from the other books that have dropped," he told them, pulling one copy of each skill and handing them over to them.
"What do you think we should learn from these?" Faith asked as she looked at the pile of books.
"Well, the defensive skills are a given because they will add to what damage you two can take in fights, so I would suggest learning those and looking to to see if those skills will add to what you know you can already do or match your elements."
"So say I learn this dragon's grace, I could use wind grace; I will get the better distance in my gliding?"
"Yep, that's right, because it matches your wind element," he answered her.
"Okay, what about this thing called dragonbreath?" Faith asked.
Marcus shrugged, "I don't know if you have a fire element you can ask your jewel if it can detect your elements but also remember you are growing with these new skills and you may gain new elements later on so if you want to learn the skill and ask your jewel to keep a reminder for when or if you gain the complimenting element or practice the skill outside combat just in case you do gain it," he told them while leaving the choice up to them.
He sat back and watched as they learned the defense skills then looked over the others weighing the choice of learning even the ones that they didn't have elements that matched with their elements after consulting their jewels, Kendra of course was fire ice, and wind, while Faith had the elements of wind, shadow and light which was focused in her daggers mostly, but also would allow her night vision in time.
When it was done, they went ahead and learned all of the skills to work on later, which were six each: scaled hide, toughened skin, dragon grace, dragon claw, the roar of the dragon, and dragon fang.
The roar of the dragon turned out to be a skill that used the user's highest elemental affinity during a scream attack that also seemed to be flaming to attack the target, while dragon fang was a weapon skill that quickened attack speed or damage from each strike depending on the weapon type.
(Quick note here, While all of these skills have a dragon in the name it won't be equivalent to the concept of dragon magics until the skills are mastered which would need finishing the dungeon where other complimenting skills will stack on the named skills, I don't promise to write out every time they go into the dungeon but may make mention throughout the story because I do intend to have Marcu and his group go back and forth between the Halloween world and whichever world they may end up in later on.)
Both girls practiced the skills, at least one to get a feel for them along with allowing the jewels to analyze them to evaluate possible avenues for the skills.
When it came to the boss drop it turned out to be a skill named Dragon Guidance which turned out to be a skill that helped the user detect hidden enemies, the two decided to flip a coin which Marcus flipped using one of the gold coins from the backpack one side had the face of the core as heads while the other side had the crystal state of the core as tails.
Faith won the toss, but after a second thought, she passed the book to Kendra, "I've got a danger sense with the slayer package, and I noticed that you don't seem to have it," she said when pushing it to her.
"Ah that may be due to the slayer spirit leaving a bigger imprint in you before Halloween but it didn't come over with you as this world is a copy of Earth just chaotic, and before you panic over thinking you are just copies of the original you are you," Marcus said as he saw Faith began to look panicked.
"But there is a me out there who is still a real slayer?"
"Yes there is but that is possible because the multiverse has an infinite number of you, me, Kendra, and everyone right now out there somewhere is another group of us doing almost the same thing with only one or two differences, such as Faith keeping the book or Kendra winning the flip then giving up the book," he told them and watched them relax then Kendra looked to Faith asking with her eyes if she was sure she could use the book.
"Go ahead, I still got better senses, plus maybe we will find another one somewhere in here," Faith told her; after a few more seconds of inner debate, Kendra used the book.
After a few more minutes of rest, they got ready to delve deeper into the dungeon, over the next couple of hours were mostly spent in the boss rooms that could call more monsters to increase the loot drops, they did end up finding a few useful skills and another sensory skill which Kendra immediately turned over to Faith it wasn't as strong as the first one but still added to what Faith could sense.
When they finished the boss on the tenth floor, Marcus told them what to expect, "Now we are about to meet the core or an extension of the core to trade the coins and other things for weapons and other gear, if you can't find something you want or can use there is always trading it to someone outside for something you need."
Saying that, he showed them the illusion wall hiding the room the crystal was in; for a second, the crystal gave a glow, and then the crystal girl flew out of the crystal and hugged him.
"You came back, did you know that there are so many people coming that I'm growing up real fast plus those bags let them bring so many coins and things I will be a big dungeon like Mom in no time at all, it took her several years to grow as many floors as I've grown in just a week or so." the core said excitedly still hugging him.
Marcus smiled at her, then using his finger, he patted her tiny head, "That's good to hear; my friends here have lots of coins for you, and I wanted to ask you if you can talk to your sister here in this world?"
The core tilted her head to the side as if listening to something, "Um yeah, I can; one is saying she is growing, not as fast as I am, but the other isn't getting any visitors," she said after a few minutes she told him.
"Can you ask the one without visitors if she can tell you where she is? Maybe we can find her and help her grow as well,"
"Um she is saying something about a lot of water around her gate, but not where it is," she said after a few seconds.
"Thank you, that helps a great deal. I will ask people to look around places with a lot of water. Can she tell you what the outside looks like?"
"Uhh, big fish, some bigger than you with lots of sharp teeth, but she can see light over her coming down through the water; she says it's a pretty blue color," the core told him with a big smile, happy to be able to help him and maybe her sister.
Marcus smiled and patted her head again, "I will spread it around to look in those kinds of places; let her know, but how is she not overflowing with monsters?"
"Oh uh, me and other sister are taking her monsters and sending her some of the extra coins we are getting from so many people coming to us. She won't grow much like this, but it is keeping her alive," she said cheerfully then took on a sad frown at the end.
"Okay keep it up as long as you can we don't want your sisters being hurt, my friends here do have lots of coins for you so why don't you three talk while I write up something I can send to everyone so they can look in the big water to find her so they can help her," he said with a smile then pointed to Faith and Kendra, when the core flew over to them he took out their loot making sure to keep it separate for them.
While the girls were talking to the core he wrote up the message he would send out after leaving the dungeon.
'Found some info on the third dungeon, search offshore in the shallows, clear blue water sunlight is bright in an area with sharks, the two dungeons currently being traveled are absorbing her monsters to keep an overflow from happening but they can not keep it up forever, please spread the word if found let me know so I can see about setting up a safe way to enter.' he wrote up then set to send after leaving the dungeon.
H watched as the girls looked through the list of things they could get, "Hey, these guns look sweet. Do you think I should get one to go along with my gaggers? That will give me some range if I need it," Faith said while pointing to a nine-millimeter.
"I think that would be a great idea but why not the forty-five?" Kendra asked, pointing to the more powerful weapon.
"It's not about the power, I can use the nine to throw off things so I can get in close with my daggers," Faith answered.
After a few more minutes, they had chosen a secondary weapon. Faith took the nine-millimeter while Kendra took a Colt revolver with a selection of rounds to have options for elemental attacks she didn't have an affinity for.
Although they did not find any armor, they did describe the holster types to the core. She could use the leather to create, especially when Marcus transfigured a couple from pieces of leather, so she had a better idea.
"Sweet, can you make them help with either draw speed or maybe a recall thing so if we drop the weapon or something," Faith suggested, liking the way the shoulder holster.
The core absorbed all of the coins and a little over half of the leather, "Um, you still have some coins to spend; if you don't want armor or ammunition, why not purchase potions," the core pointed out, which had them both got three vials of each mid-grade potion.
"Thank you for helping me grow. I now have sixteen floors and can now have six separate groups exploring," the core happily told them, then hugged each one.
"So do we need to come back here to trade in the coins and stuff?" Marcus asked.
" Nope, while I do have an interface on every tenth floor, there is one after the boss on the last floor to form," the core answered, making Mrcus want to bop his forehead; nobody would want to backtrack, and it seemed the dungeons had the means to keep them from having to do so.
"Well do you two want to keep going or stop here for now?" he asked the two who were equipping the holsters that flashed as soon as the guns slid into place, 'Secondary weapons and equipment registered,' the jewels announced.
"Let's keep going. No sense in quitting now. It's only six more floors," Faith said after the two exchanged glances, then nodded with smiles.
From there they moved on taking nearly as much time as the first ten floors, though Mrcus did notice that the lizards were taking on a more dragon-like, he guessed that as the dungeon grew more powerful the lizards would evolve to be full dragons possibly even other types as well so far they started to resemble western dragon's.
On the sixteenth floor, they could only upgrade their guns and holsters for more damage and draw speed; once they exited the dungeon, the message was sent out while they walked through the stalls, trading the leftover leather for more potions, which their jewels held for them.
Once they reached the ridge of the crater, Faith looked at the portal frame, "So now what?"
"Come to town, meet Buffy and the others keep the place as a base of operation, or just stay there and work with them settling the new people moving in," Marcus told them both while connecting to the gate as a group of SGC members stepped through and headed toward the dungeon, all four saluting Marcus once they recognized him from his helping them with tech and other things.
"You famous or something?" Faith asked.
"Sort of, I've been helping all over the place; one of the first groups I helped was their group," he answered while pointing to the SGC team.
"So, we can come and go from here to enter that place and get stronger; what else is there to do?" Faith asked again after watching the military group enter the dungeon.
"Yeah there is another one in Florida and one more we need to find, from what the core told me it's somewhere under the ocean but not so deep it shouldn't be too hard to find," he told them while moving to the gate, " come on I have a few things to give you both that'll make things easier,"
He stepped through the frame portal with Kendra, and then Faith followed him, " What else are you gonna give us? I'm not complaining because this gear you already gave us is sweet, not to mention the stuff from the dungeon," Faith asked while she caressed her coat again and patted the gun on the shoulder holster.
"A backpack that will hold a large amount of stuff, a tent that can be used as a home that also supplies food and clothes, and last but not least an arm bracer that is a computer and communication devices, everything I'm offering is meant to help keep you alive," he answered as he led them out of the gym and to the library.
When they entered the library, they found Buffy with her little brother Harry on her shoulders while Luna had her legs wrapped around her waist from the front while reaching up to Harry.
"Uh, what did we miss?" Marcus asked, coming to a stop, the two bumping into his back.
Buffy turned to face him, a request to help her in her eyes, " Luna wants yo take Harry here to the dungeon, but Buffy does not want him going in there yet," Giles answered with a smile hidden behind the book he was pretending to read.
Sighing, Marcus looked to Luna, who had turned to look at him with puppy eyes, "Don't ask me; I'm not his parent or guardian, so don't turn those eyes on me. You need to go find Joyce."
Luna immediately let go of Buffy, almost throwing her off balance, and skipped out of the room, "How did you do that? I've been telling her no for almost an hour now."
Marcus sighed, "Luna is a special girl with a tragic childhood she saw her mother die, and while her father did love her he was a bit absentminded so she doesn't know how to listen to people much but give her a mother figure and she'll seek her out to see what's okay because the one time she didn't listen her mother died to keep her safe."
Buffy and Giles stared at him for a second then their eyes trailed Luna's path, "What happened?"
"I'm not sure there are several versions I know of Luna, and all of them lost their mother during one of her experiments with one of the branches of magic that I'm not sure which is her case but do not try to get her to tell you she'll withdraw into herself for a while, let her tell you in her own time."
"So she will look for mom and ask and then listen if she says no?" Buffy asked.
"Yeah, if she asks you to let her do something you think may not be good for her tell her to ask Joyce," Marcus told her, "Oh yeah, if she gets depressed make sure you have English pudding around, chocolate is normally her favorite but have a selection and whatever you do, don't try to take it away from her once she has it, but do not have it on the table before she has eaten her meal or all she will eat is the pudding."
"I'll be sure to tell Mom, do you think she will let Luna take Harry into the dungeon?"
"Not before they have some combat training, physical combat that is, they will instinctively work magic into their combat just make sure you get them some armor out of the dungeon it should give them some protection from the magic,"
"I'll put in a few trips to get them some armor; where will we find someone to train them?"
"The tents have training programs for combat; it will scale to their skill level over time; you may be able to get a few months from her pestering you to let them go," he told Buffy as she let Harry down.
"Alright, so who is your new friend?" Buffy asked
"Faith Lehane, slayer, called after Kendra. She was a few days away from Sunnydale when the magic went out of control," Marcus introduced Faith, then let the girl tell what she wanted.
"Well I need to get them kitted out, then we will head to Colorado with the speeder so we can look for survivors and point them this way or Disney," Marcus said while going to the portal Hermione left open after talking to Giles.
He led them through. When Faith passed the opening and nothing happened, he waved Buffy to follow, and she smiled and then followed them, happy to be able to see the island for herself.
"Dont wander off this place is big and there are a few things that may hurt you, keep the house in sight," he warned Buffy as he led them up to the house and pointed out the bag he stored Kendra's stuff in telling her it was everything she owned from when she lived with Zbuto.
He then went to the shop while pointing to the medical room, "Faith, go see the doctor; while the potions heald you up, it won't hurt to get a check-up," he said before going to the shop and ordering two large tents a backpack and bracer on the single replicator before going to the four connected replicators and opening up the schematics of the T-850 then ordered two to endoskeletons to be made up and their programming changed to be workers glad the model Tina came from a company and didn't have any of Skynets programming.
"Once these are done, move them to storage. We'll need to see about a vat to grow the flesh," he ordered.
'Yes sir, we do have the formula. I do not have the schematics for the vats needed; you may have to speak to one of the companies to purchase one,' the computer answered as the shop android moved the tents off the replicator so it could make the backpack then bracer.
"I'll look into it later," he said while he watched the replicator begin making the Terminator skeletons.
After the items were finished, he gathered them up and went to find the others sitting in the dining room; Hermione and Harriet watched with bemused looks as the three slayers ate sandwich after sandwich from a platter in the center of the table.
"So what did the doctor say?" he asked Faith as he placed one of the tents on Kendra's backpack and all three items for Faith next to her seat.
"All good but I should take a few days to fully heal from the breaks in my arm and leg," Faith answered around a mouthful of her sandwich.
Ne nodded, "Remind me we need to track Xander down he took the tent before I could transfer the schematics for the hovercar to the computer." he said to Hermione.
"Okay, Giles told me that they've been getting an almost constant flow of people coming to the town to either settle down or trade for supplies, we've pretty much helped make this town a hub, he figures that in the next few months, a settlement will grow around the dungeon, they will need to start setting up laws and such," she told him while pulling up a map leading from Sunnydale to Chyanne mountain.
"Yeah, I can see that happening over time," he said then looked at Buffy, "See about getting your earth bender friend to extend the wall to surround the fertile grounds not already claimed by anyone possibly the dungeon zone as well and someone needs to police the area for trouble makers, Kendra and Faith had to fight off some people who tried to assault Faith while I was looking for something to help her heal."
Buffy nodded and swallowed what food was in her mouth, " We've been thinking about it and setting up a council of sorts. None of the mayor's people came over, same with the police."
"That's good. Most of them were corrupt, and the mayor was trying to become one of those giant demons Giles says used to rule the world before humans started fighting back," he told them, taking a sandwich for himself.
All three slayers stopped eating to stare at him, " How do you know?"
"When we went back to normal earth to try and get into orbit to get above the red sky, we helped your counterparts fight a group of vampires. Then the deputy mayor ran into the fight and gave the other you some books and stuff on ascension," Hermione answered while Marcus ate.
"And you did not tell them?" Kendra asked not remembering them talking about it while they were there.
Hermione shrugged, "They know to look for it, plus it is not our job to do everything. Also, the scoobies have a mostly good track record in taking down the demon of the week."
Buffy nodded, "We tried; sometimes we didn't even get all of the info we needed and still took them down," she said with a grin before going for another sandwich, either forgetting or ignoring the one she held in her other hand.
When the last sandwich disappeared into Faith's stomach, Marcus helped her set up her bracer and then explained the tents to them, "Why are you giving us all of this?"
"You all need something to do Buffy here will most likely stay close to town because it's her home, you two have the option to travel and will be able to help people either as a pair or alone, these will make doing that so much easier," he told them as he connected his bracer to the tents to transfer the hovercar schematics to them.
"And you guys aren't doing it because?"
"We have already done more than most of the people like us who came here to help the people of this world, most of the people who came here will also be here for years while we are only here for another month or so plus people need to learn to live in this world now and they can't do that if we go around holding their hands," Marcus told them as the data transfer finished.
"Well, we need to get going; the farther we get, the more people we may find before nightfall," Hermione said, standing and then leading the way out of the house.
"You have this place and can fly, so why drive the speeder?" Buffy asked as they neared the gate leading to the library.
"The portal in and out of here is stationary, so we have to go out into the world to do stuff, and it is a speeder that can move at almost a hundred and fifty miles an hour. Need I say more?" he told her, finishing with a grin.
"Point," Buffy agreed after a second thought about the hovercar they came back to town in.
As they made their way through the school, they saw Luna bouncing from foot to foot while trying to give Joyce puppy eyes, which she was fending off rather well.
"She's going to have to do better than that mom stopped falling for mine years ago," Buffy said amused as she watched.
"Yeah, but once Luna gets an idea, she's like a Jack Russel terrier with a chew toy. She'll hold onto it until something new catches her attention, best if you tell your mom to let them train. They'll need it later anyway," Hermione told them as they neared the doors.
"I'll tell her later, right now Luna looks like she is having fun, and mom is getting some entertainment from her antics, the other day Luna painted a hallway with a jungle theme, the kids like it because the plants and animals move," Buffy said with a smile pointing down a hallway where a group of kids was sitting on cushions watching the animals playing in the painting.
