Luigi's Big Roll
The lights of Mushroom City's grandest TV studio shone bright, casting long shadows over the massive Cho Han stage. The audience buzzed with excitement, their cheers echoing through the room as Lakitu, floating in his signature cloud, hovered down to the host's podium. The night was electric, and sitting at the center of it all, with beads of sweat trickling down his face, was Luigi. He had made it through nine intense rounds, facing off against friends, rivals, and the sheer luck of the dice. And now, he was one decision away from either winning one million coins or losing it all.
"Luigi!" Lakitu's voice rang through the air, chipper but laced with anticipation. "You've made it this far, my friend! Nine rounds of Cho Han, and you're sitting on five hundred thousand coins. One last roll stands between you and a million! How are you feeling?"
Luigi tugged nervously at his collar, swallowing hard before flashing a grin at the audience. "Mamma mia, Lakitu! I tell ya, this has-a been one wild ride! But I'm-a ready. Let's-a do this!"
Lakitu chuckled, floating a little closer. "Alright! Just to remind everyone at home, if Luigi guesses the dice roll correctly in this final round, he will walk away with one million coins. But if he's wrong… he'll only walk away with 50,000 coins. What's it gonna be, Luigi? Will it be Cho… or Han?"
The entire studio fell silent. Luigi's heart pounded as he stared at the large dice resting on the table before him. Two six-sided dice, perfectly balanced, ready to decide his fate. Cho meant even, Han meant odd. A fifty-fifty chance.
Luigi exhaled deeply, thinking back on all the other rounds. He had taken risks, but he had also played smart, reading the dice, feeling the pulse of the game. The odds weighed heavily in his mind, but he knew that in Cho Han, anything could happen.
"I'm-a gonna choose… CHO!" Luigi declared, his voice strong and confident. "Even!"
The audience erupted into cheers, though the tension in the air was palpable. Lakitu nodded, his eyes twinkling behind his thick glasses. "Cho it is! Now, Luigi, before we roll the dice, I think you've got a few people here who want to say something."
From the side of the stage, Mario and Princess Peach approached. Mario gave his brother a hearty slap on the back, his familiar grin shining bright. "Luigi, I-a gotta say, I'm-a so proud of you, bro! You've come so far, and whether you win-a big or not, you're-a already a winner in my book!"
Peach smiled warmly, stepping forward to take Luigi's hand. "Luigi, you've been incredible tonight. Everyone back in the Mushroom Kingdom is cheering for you. No matter what happens, you've shown true bravery and grace. We're all proud of you."
Luigi beamed, his heart swelling with pride. "Thank you, Mario. Thank you, Princess Peach. That-a means the world to me." He then turned back to the crowd, lifting the microphone to address the audience, both in the studio and at home. "I just-a want to say… win or lose, this has-a been an amazing journey. I've always believed in doing things the right way, and tonight, I wanted to show everyone that it's not-a just about winning, but about enjoying the game and giving it your best. So, thank you all for supporting me. Whatever happens… I'm-a ready!"
Lakitu smiled wide, floating back to the dice. "Beautiful words, Luigi. Now, the moment we've all been waiting for. Audience, when I count down, I need everyone to shout, 'Roll the dice!' Let's give Luigi the final push!"
The lights dimmed, and the studio fell into a thick, suspenseful silence. The two dice gleamed under the spotlight, sitting still as the world seemed to hold its breath. Luigi reached out, his hand hovering over them.
Lakitu's voice cut through the quiet. "Alright, audience… In three… two… one…"
"ROLL THE DICE!" the audience roared in unison.
Luigi's hand came down, and the dice clattered across the table, bouncing and rolling under the spotlight. Everyone leaned forward, hearts pounding, eyes glued to the dice as they tumbled and danced across the felt.
The dice slowed, spinning in place before finally, finally… coming to a stop.
Lakitu floated down slowly, his cloud drifting just above the table. His eyes darted to the dice and there they were… five on the first die and five on the second die. The entire studio was frozen in place, waiting for the verdict.
"And the final roll is…" Lakitu paused, glancing dramatically at the audience. "TEN! An even number! Luigi… YOU WIN!"
The crowd exploded into cheers as Luigi jumped into the air, pumping his fists in victory. "I-a did it! A million coins!" His voice was drowned out by the applause and chants of his name. "Luigi! Luigi! Luigi!"
Mario rushed forward, grabbing his brother in a bear hug. Peach joined in, clapping her hands with joy. Luigi's face was flushed with excitement, a wide grin plastered across his face as he was hoisted onto Mario's shoulders.
Lakitu floated down beside them, his cloud puffing happily. "What a night! Luigi, you've done it! A million coins! How does it feel?"
Luigi, still catching his breath, smiled down at the host. "It-a feels… amazing! I-a couldn't have done it without-a all of you. Thank you, everyone! And remember… it's-a not just about the coins—it's about having fun, taking chances, and believing in yourself!"
With that, Luigi waved to the cheering crowd, the lights of the studio glinting off the million-coin prize as it was wheeled out beside him. He had done it. He had made the right choice, and in the heart of Mushroom City, he had rolled his way to victory.
The night ended with fireworks outside the studio, lighting up the skyline as Luigi stood atop the world, a champion in both luck and spirit.
