I want to thank you all for those who supported my works. It really means a lot to me. I also want to thank everyone who spared a few minutes of their time to read this story.

Here we go

After lots of arguing, the soldiers from Gulch arrived at a reasonably priced hotel where they will be temporarily staying. The entire ride was spent on complaining, eating their rations, stopping for funny road signs, boasting, and any other activity that does not relate to achieving this mission they were given.

"Thank God, the mind boggling torture of a van ride is finally over." Church sighed out contently. The de facto leader of the blues quickly stepped outside, eager to get away from this unsteady alliance they formed so he can stretch his legs. He wondered if things might have sailed smoothly if they were not partnered with the mercenaries. Was command going nuts? Because he certainly had no idea on why the decided that their two groups, who have a tumultuous relationship to begin with, be forced to work together with another pair of mercenaries who by no means have anything to do with them whatsoever. It will only ruin the team chemistry even further.

'Wait. Team chemistry?' Church thought for a moment 'we never even had that in the first place!'

"So, this is the place huh? It ain't that bad." Tucker said as he looked at the hotel. The aqua soldier went to the back of the van to get his belongings and stopped, only to see Locus already doing it for him along with everyone else's and neatly arranged them on the pavement.

"Wow, you work fast Locus." Doc complimented.

"I wouldn't have to work fast if only a certain group of individuals did their parts instead of standing around and talking." Locus groused out. The cold and calculative mercenary continued to do his work and unloaded his entire arsenal. It consisted of a SAW, a sniper rifle, a rail gun, a sticky detonator, a shotgun, a pistol, a handful of grenades, some combat knives and tools, and even an M247H machine gun. He made sure that the ammo in his guns is dust powered.

"The heck are you dude, a one man army?" Tucker asked, surprised at Locus' choice of weapons. Locus is a deadly combatant and carries a vast and varied arsenal of weapons, which makes him even more lethal.

"It pays to be prepared." The grey and green merc muttered.

"That's why we were cramped like sardines in there. Which makes the van, the sardines can." Donut openly compared their van ride to that of a canned good.

"Really now?" Tucker drawled sarcastically while eyeing Donut's luggage, which consisted of plenty of briefcases containing what must have been body care products, clothes, magazines and anything of Donut's favorite items.

"What's important is that we have arrived at our destination safely." Locus concluded. He looked towards Lopez who was adjusting his poncho to properly conceal him.

"Lopez."

"Si?"

"Please come over here."

Red team's robot walked over to where Locus was standing and asked. "¿Qué es? (What is it?)"

Locus, who was bilingual responded to Lopez's question and answered "I need you to trade me your SAW for this." He gestured towards the M247H machine gun.

Since Lopez was a robot, it meant that he had added strength to him, which meant that carrying the machine gun won't be a problem for him. Locus quickly analyzed that feat and thought that the gun will be more useful if Lopez was the one who will use it.

"Espera, ¿me entiendes? (Wait, you understand me?)"

Locus nodded for confirmation.

"Gracias." Lopez thanked him and walked over to the machine gun, carrying it easily.

"Does this mean you'll be supplying us with weapons?" Simmons asked.

"No. You have been given yours." Locus replied. The nerdy red only stared at him blankly. Locus sighed and continued. "But, I'll let you borrow mine when the situation calls for it."

"Cool." Simmons replied. Locus yet again, sighed. He needed to have a large amount of patience when dealing with these buffoons if they want this operation to be a success.

Meanwhile, Felix was at the Hotel's entrance impatiently tapping his foot.

"Yo jackass, do you mind helping us with these?" Church called out.

Felix turned to see everyone claiming their things and slowly made their way to where he was standing.

"Uh, they do have bellhops for a reason idiot. And also, why did you leave mine behind?" Felix pointed to his luggage, which was still near the parked van.

"Pick up your own shit doofus." Church snapped back.

The orange merc grumbled and angrily marched down the steps to claim his belongings. Once he did, he looked up to see the bellhop he was waiting for, arrive and picked up the rest of the group's stuff and placed them in trolleys.

"Hey wait up!"

He managed to catch up on time and placed his possessions at the trolley.

Before they went inside, the bellhop stopped.

"Uh, is there a problem sir?" Tucker asked.

"May you please get your friend, that fountain is a no-play zone." The bellhop pointed.

The rest turned to see Caboose frolicking around, jumping and splashing his hands at the water.

"Splashy, splashy, splashy, splash, touch!" Caboose idly sang as he enjoyed the marble fountain of the hotel.

"Caboose, what the hell do you think you're doing!?" Church irately asked the dumb blue.

"Hey guys, they have dolphins here! Look!" Caboose replied. He pointed to a statue of a dolphin spouting water out of its blowhole.

"Shall I get a towel?" the bellhop politely asked.

"Yes, please." Church said, already tired of his teammate's antics. He grabbed Caboose and they all went inside. The hotel's interior was fairly nice and they made their way to the receptionist. She was a pretty woman with brown hair, sporting a pair of glasses. Before Tucker could approach and hit on her, Church beat him to it.

"Hello, uh good evening." Church began.

"Good evening to you as well. May I help you gentlemen?" she replied with a nice voice and a polite smile.

"We would like some rooms please."

"Okay, let me just check. Um, how many are you?"

"Eleven." Simmons answered.

"Thank you. Now let's see… hmm… Oh yes, there are still rooms available. How long will you be staying?"

"We honestly don't know yet." Doc responded.

"Okay. Um, pardon me for asking, but do you happen to be huntsmen?" She asked and gestured to the weapons they brought. Some of the guests even looked at them because of all the firepower they packed.

"Yes, we are." Locus quickly answered.

"Okay, we have available rooms for the huntsmen. Will some of you be sharing rooms?"

"Mhm." Donut replied. Sarge ordered Red Team to be in the same room with five beds, with Church doing the same for his team with four separate beds. The mercenaries also got their own room with Felix asking for it to be a deluxe class. With everyone already settled down, all they had to do was rest and be ready for the day tomorrow.

Inside the Blue's room, they quickly rushed inside to claim the best bed. Well, it was only just Church and Tucker racing to get the best one. Caboose merely doesn't care and will take which bed he wants. But for the time being, the childish member of Blue Team grabbed Freckles and began to do 'maintenance', while watching some cartoons. Church will just reassemble the gun later in order not to damage Freckles. Doc dropped off his things and sat on the couch to use his laptop he brought with him.

Tucker and Church meanwhile, charged inside but this time, it was Tucker who was the lucky one and claimed the bed which was closest to the air conditioner.

"God damn it." Church grumbled.

"Haha. Sorry buddy, but it looks like I win this time."

Church decided to try and flex his authority for a bit, even though he really hasn't any, but assumed that he had some 'cause he was the so called 'leader'.

"Tucker, give up that bed. That's an order." He commanded.

"Yeah, as if that's enough to convince me to do anything." The aqua ladies-man remarked. He sighed contently as the cool air brushed against his skin. He placed both arms behind his head as he leaned back deeper into the pillow.

Church needed to bribe to get the cool area so he grudgingly said "Tucker, if you let me use that bed, then I will allow you to use…" that left a foul taste in his mouth "no, HOLD, the sniper rifle."

"Screw you Church. The old Tucker would have quickly agreed to that but not me. I've matured now."

The cobalt sniper groaned and flopped onto his bed. What he then noticed was a remote lying closely to the lampshade. He picked it up and inspected it. He then realized that it was the remote to the AC unit. Upon realizing this, he smirked and toyed with the controls.

*BEEP*

"Wuh?" Tucker groggily opened his eyes and felt the air of the AC move away from him. He saw the flaps change positions and was now blowing the cool air onto Church's and Caboose's side of the room.

"Fuck!" he yelled.

Church haughtily laughed and waved the remote in his hands.

"What's the matter dude? Did your sails lose its wind?" he taunted.

"Church…" Tucker warned.

"Ah, ah, ah. I have the remote, which makes me god." Church jested.

"Don't worry Tucker, you can have my remote." Caboose tried to cheer him up. He tossed another remote to Tucker. Church watched with disbelief while Tucker smirked in triumph. He pressed the remote with naïve excitement, but to his dismay, the channel on the TV changed. What Caboose didn't know was that he gave Tucker the remote to the television. Church laughed with amusement while Tucker covered his face with the pillow and groaned.

"Sucks to be you!" Church said in between chortles.

Tucker groaned in annoyance again before succumbing to the deal. "Okay, I give up. You can take this side of the bed while you give me that remote."

"Nah, I think I'm starting to like it here." Church said in a relaxed tone.

The TV was switched to the news channel but the boys didn't pay any attention to it. Church and Tucker continued to banter while Caboose was busy with Freckles. What they didn't hear was that the news was reporting about a civil rights-turned terrorist group began to cause some uproar in the city.

On the Red's side, Sarge was busy trying to rearrange the beds to make it seem like they were barracks in the military. Donut chose to go to the bathroom to also freshen up. Lopez remained uninterested and put himself in sleep mode while Grif and Simmons had their usual exchange.

"Grif, would it kill you to at least pick up and set aside your belongings? Also, please place your gun to that weapons rack like we did." Simmons complained.

'Nah, maybe tomorrow." Grif replied as he opened the mini fridge in their room and grabbed a soda.

"You do know that the food inside here isn't free, right?"

"What!? Then why did they bother placing them here if it is not free to consume?" Grif remarked exasperatedly. He threw back the soda can and flopped onto one of the beds. "They better have cool shows here." He mumbled as he pressed the remote to watch some TV. He browsed through the channels with all shows being unfamiliar to him. Oh, he forgot that they were outside of Gulch so plenty of things are different. With boredom quickly overcoming him, he decided to sleep. Simmons meanwhile had a laptop of his own and went over the Valean web reading some articles of the latest news and scandals. He also planned if he could hack into the kingdom's system.

He planned to do that tomorrow because he felt a bit tired from their trip, so he just did some surfing on the internet, trying to find something interesting.

The time was 8:00 in the evening. Locus was busy cleaning his pistol and making a report to HQ while Felix relaxed and slept on the king sized bed. It was a calm night, Locus felt. Maybe after a few more minutes of cleaning, he will turn in to sleep so he can wake up early in the morning.

Some cries for help rang through the halls which cause him to quickly grab his weapons. Felix bolted upright and did the same and changed from his sleeping clothes into his fancy suit.

"What the hell is going on?" Felix asked while rubbing his eyes.

"An attack, I should go warn the rest. You go check it first and report back here. I'll go call the others." Locus swiftly ordered.

"Got it." Felix did a mock salute, grabbed his DMR and went towards the noise. What he saw was people wearing some white robes with a mask covering their faces. They were taking hostages which consisted some of the guests and staff of the hotel.

Locus grabbed his comms and went to the private channel in the radio piece to talk with the reds and blues.

"Everyone there's-" he was cut off by Sarge.

"I hear people yelling! I've got a feeling in my gut that a fight's gonna go down. Let me go grab my shotgun. Men, get up and grab your gear. This is a code red problem!" Sarge said.

"Almost every problem we have is always a code red!"

Locus could hear Grif shouting in the background.

"What the heck is this ruckus all about?' Church angrily asked.

"There's an attack in the hotel. Get your team ready and gear up." Locus replied.

"Shall we use the armor?" Tucker responded.

Before Locus could respond, Felix entered back at the room.

"Report." Locus asked.

"Just some thugs with masks. They're armed and have hostages with them." Felix answered. "Do we use the new armor?" he asked.

Locus pondered before answering back. "No, not yet." He also told the rest of the guys to not use their armor.

Felix shrugged and went outside. Locus followed him and then they met up with the Reds and Blues, who were now armed.

"What's the game plan fellas?" Sarge asked.

"This way." Felix told them. The rest followed him and saw the thugs. They hid from their sight and began to formulate a plan.

Locus now shared the plan. "Alright, since we are in a building, avoid using weapons that cause too much destruction, so that takes the rocket launcher out of the equation and the M247H."

Doc was relieved while Lopez nodded.

Locus continued. "Take out the thugs closest to the people. Church, Felix, you need to snipe them. Make every shot count."

Felix did not give a damn since he was confident in himself while Church tightened his grip on his gun.

"Once they're taken out, me, Sarge, Tucker and Lopez charge in and form a defensive perimeter around the civilians and eliminate the rest of those goons. Doc, Donut, Caboose, your priority is to escort those civilians safely and get them out of here. Grif, Simmons, assist them and make sure that no enemy gets to the exit."

Everyone sounded off in agreement and went on with the plan.

"Any last words you filthy human." The thug sneered.

"Please, just take me. Let my wife and kid go." The father pleaded while on his knees.

"Hmm, request denied." The rest of the thugs laughed darkly and maniacally.

"Looks like you're going first. Get over here." The thug said as he roughly dragged the poor father and raised a pistol against his head.

"Harold no!" "Papa!" both the wife and his child yelled with worry. Many of the hostages closed their eyes, and covered their ears. Some of the families hugged each other and clung onto one another for security and comfort.

The father breathed out sharp breaths, feeling helpless and ready to accept his fate. The goon wickedly smiled, cocked the gun and-

*Bang!*

The people cried in shock and fear. The father, not feeling a bullet in his head, opened his eyes to see his captor, dead on the ground with a bullet at his forehead.

"Find those interlopers." A high ranking one ordered.

Suddenly, another gunshot was heard and he was killed. The rest were now on high alert and yelled some threats that if the ones who interrupted do not appear and surrender, they were going to kill the people. Their course of action was never successfully achieved because the Reds and Blues, along with the mercs, stormed in and fought the thugs off.

The hostages panicked but Doc and Donut managed to round them up and lead them away safely. Simmons and Grif acted as security to protect and assist them. Caboose tried to humor them b acting funny.

Back at the main fight, each side was firing their weapons all over the place but Locus managed to make sure that his group fired with accurate precision. He led the group effectively even if they had no chemistry to begin with. He hoped that they will continue to act as a cohesive unit during scenarios like this in the future.

"Oh yeah, who wants some of this?" Tucker confidently said as he fired his newly acquired VK78 Commando.

"Blamo!" Sarge exclaimed as he fired his shotgun at his enemies. Some of the sots missed.

"Fire at them when they are in range Sergeant, your weapon was made to be used for close quarters." Locus said to Red team's leader as he also used his shotgun against the opposition. One managed to get too close so he utilized hand to hand combat to effectively take the goon down.

Back at Church and Felix, the two of them were effectively sniping with Church using his sniper rifle and with Felix borrowing Locus' one.

"Hey Church. How about a contest huh? The more kills, you buy me a drink." Felix tried to negotiate.

"You sadistic motherfucker…" Church trailed off before beaming with confidence. "I'm in!"

"Both of you knock it off!" Locus ordered on the comms. "Keep the kills as low as possible and only shoot to incapacitate. The proper authorities will be arriving to handle this."

"Fine."

"Dang it."

Back with the people, Doc was checking to make sure none of them were hurt while Donut went around asking if everyone was accounted for and if they have a relative back inside.

"Oscar? Oscar!" a woman yelled.

Doc and Donut quickly approached her.

"What's the problem ma'am?" Doc asked.

The woman looked at them with tears. "Have you seen my nephew? His name is Oscar. He's about this tall, with hazel eyes and freckles on his cheeks. He's not here. I can't find him everywhere."

"Is there an Oscar in the crowd!?" Caboose asked and shouted but no one replied.

The woman froze in horror and felt her blood run cold. She began to panic and was filled with worry. "Oh gods, please don't tell me he's still inside there? Please save him." The woman began to break down and sob with Doc trying to comfort her. Donut contacted the rest with his earpiece.

"Um guys?"

"What is it Donut?" Locus replied as they began to finish off the thugs.

"You wouldn't happen to notice a young boy would you? His aunt said that he might probably still be inside there."

"Help!" a voice cried.

The aforementioned boy was hiding behind a sofa but was spotted by one of the goons. The goon raised his knife in attempt to kill him and the boy covered his eyes with his arms, begging for someone to save him. And then suddenly...

*BLAP*

The goon fell onto the ground. The boy saw his attacker fell and looked towards his savior which turned out to be Tucker. He smacked the goon on the head with the butt of his gun.

Tucker smiled and greeted the young man. "Hey kiddo, what's your name?"

"O-oscar. Oscar Pine." He shyly answered back.

"Nice to meet you Oscar, I'm Tucker." Tucker introduced himself and helped Oscar up.

"Thanks for saving me."

"No problem dude." Tucker held out his fist and Oscar bumped it.

"Thanks for saving my nephew" Oscar's aunt said with big gratitude.

"No problem ma'am, it was our pleasure to help." Tucker replied. He began to have small talk with them and got some slight info. It turns out they weren't from Vale and only traveled here for vacation. It turns out that they were from Mistral, another kingdom.

Oscar was now talking to Caboose to get his mind off from the horrible experience he faced back at the hotel.

"Hello Oscar, I am Caboose. And this is Freckles."

'GREETINGS'

Oscar was amazed and fascinated by this.

Back at the hotel, the cops were now arresting some of the thugs while Locus, Felix, Church and Sarge reported on what happened when things finally calmed down.

"You boys did an incredible job tonight. You saved everyone from harm and defeated these no good terrorists. For that, you have my thanks." The officer said as he held out his hand. The four men shook it and also thanked the police.

"So, what's going to happen now?" Church questioned.

Locus turned to see one of the goons/terrorists bounded and sat on a chair.

"It's time that we get our answers."
