-Rias Gremory POV-
These past weeks have been… Interesting, to say the least.
For starters, the amount of Stray Devils in our territory has been… strangely on the rise. We had a really busy week trying to dispose of them all.
Still, that was just business as always, no matter how boring it was.
I am the co-ruler of Kuoh, after all. My duty was to keep people in this town safe, first and foremost.
Also, paperwork, lots of it. Sona always scolds me about how I'm wasting time watching anime while she does most of the workload…
It's just some papers! How long can it actually take? A few hours, at the most?
Well, there is something weird happening or someone would be a better word.
Around two weeks ago, something quite bizarre happened. First, was a sudden spike in magic power that my bat familiar detected near a set of apartments. They are relatively close to Kuoh Academy, and that's the only reason I could catch the magic appearing in the first place.
I was re-watching Naruto at the time… again. So, I asked Koneko if she could go, and she did!
After promising chocolate cookies for at least a week straight.
What she found was a teenage guy, probably a student, talking to himself about 'Rolling' and acting all excited about it.
'Schizo-Hair'? I think that's what she called him. (She changed that nickname to Schizogami after learning his name.) When suddenly, a glowing, divine-like spear appeared in the middle of his room.
I almost panicked, the description of the weapon made me have a sinking feeling in my gut. There was a real possibility that we had the awakening of the True Longinus in our town.
You know, the strongest Longinus which is also considered the most powerful Holy Relic, which are incredibly harmful to Devils, may I add.
Even while panicking, I immediately thought about recruiting him. It was a hazardous play, I could even die just by a single wound of that spear, but if I were to get him in?
I could easily end that farce of an arranged marriage once and for all. Not even the 'Phoenix' could regenerate from such an amount of holy damage.
Imagine my surprise, when just the very next morning, Zatren Fumigami got a tour of Kuoh Academy by none other than Sona herself. The moment I saw her, she even explained that he could be a potential recruit by the magic she had felt during the day. 'A pretty decent candidate for a bishop piece'.
She freaked out once I gave her Koneko's report. Her face was priceless.
We concluded that he may have awoken a Sub-Variant Sacred Gear of the True Longinus, since the description of the weapon didn't quite match. Either that or a powerful Sacred Gear that isn't widely known… which is also a spear.
So, we decided to keep a watch on him. The results were… weird.
After getting his uniform, he went to a cat café. Coincidentally, it's the one that Koneko frequents when she has free time, like at that very moment.
She informed me that he talking to himself again, this time about something called 'Skill Upgrades'.
Well, at least we know he has a gaming hobby. Does he watch anime, though? That's the real question.
From what she told me, he didn't act weird about a stranger just sitting at his table. Maybe he was confident or maybe he just rolls with the punches?
The second report says there's some weird effect on him.
It was difficult to describe with words, actually. Besides the clear magic unconsciously exuding from him, she said there was some kind of 'allure' to his appearance, that's what made her approach him at the café.
That or the smell akin to roasted salmon Koneko could pick up from him. I am so teasing her about that later.
All in all, he seemed like a regular guy if you ignored the clearly supernatural event that night.
For the next two weeks, we have been vigilant and trying to find information about him. It appears he lives alone in that small apartment, but there's not much else.
During this time, he… ordered lots of things.
Seriously, he got around 5 boxes of junk delivered to his front door. With a bit of harmless hypnosis on the delivery service, we found out that it was mostly random and cheap objects.
Camping gear, to random cheap metals like copper and aluminum, and some broken and damaged things like tools and tech.
Strange buying habits aside, my bat familiar caught him at night while he was trying to grow some plants in the neighborhood, and before I could add nighttime gardening to the list of strange things about Fumigami Zatren, something happened.
He started pouring magic directly into the plants.
Surprisingly, instead of making them explode or mutate somehow, they just grew into the most beautiful flowers I've ever seen.
it seems the new student and possibly Longinus holder really isn't very experienced with the supernatural. Even in the middle of the night, you won't see a mage casting spells without checking for strange signatures nearby or erecting some kind of illusion barrier.
That brings another 'problem' in…
For someone who apparently was introduced to the Supernatural recently, Fumigami stands out quite a bit. In the progress category, if we're being specific.
The day he went to get his uniform from Sona, his readings were quite decent for a human. But, once time started to pass? He made leaps and bounds in the magic department.
Fumigami's quick growth seems to be reflected easily in his leaking magic. The last checking was yesterday, and the results put him at Low-Class Devil by the sheer magic amount alone.
Today, we felt him vanish.
Not teleporting or moving really fast, just vanishing. His magic signature was entirely gone, and we weren't idle. Sona started an investigation around the neighborhood, but it was dismissed a few hours later when Fumigami returned just as easily as he was gone.
Taking all of the previous factors into account and the possibility of him just vanishing again, if he could even recreate that. We decided that a meeting was in order.
''Rias-Bucho, are you ready yet?'' A knock and a girl's voice that came from my door interrupted my musings. A little smile crosses my face.
''Yes, Koneko. I'll be there in a minute, prepare the magic circle in the meantime, please.'' She doesn't answer, but I can hear light footsteps fading away.
Right, the agreement I made with Sona dictates that we are going directly to his apartment to introduce ourselves as not only Devils but rulers of this Town.
The plan is to play it nice. Since he's a possibly dangerous but important individual, we're going with the helping hand approach. This left a bad taste in her mouth, it was almost strong-arming him to our side, but it was necessary with such high risk involved.
It's also part of the reason we are going with one peerage member each. Not enough to literally bring an army to his doorstep, but enough for exercising caution.
Sona is going with her Queen, while I'm going with Koneko, since Kiba, my Knight, got a 'modeling' contract today, he couldn't come.
As for Akeno, my Queen, she previously asked for this day off to tend to the shrine she lives in.
If I told her we were going to make introductions to an underclassman of ours, she would have probably come just to tease him during all of it.
Besides, since Fumigami already knows Sona and Koneko, it will probably feel a lot less threatening… Maybe.
Another knock comes sounds from the door as I get up. ''Rias, the circle is ready, we going yet?'' Comes the deadpan tone from Koneko. I pout slightly as I make sure to look my best while looking at the full mirror in my room.
I don't take that much time, damn it.
''Yes, we're going!'' I open the door to see the petite girl looking at me with the tiniest of smugness, probably because I kept spacing out.
''Finally, we don't want to arrive at nighttime.'' Is her answer as we approach the magic circle in the middle of the Occult Research Club.
''Oi, don't exaggerate like that.'' I pout again, this time at her. That doesn't seem to make her look any less smug, though. I'll try another approach, then.
''You excited to go visit your new friend?'' My expression changes, a little teasing escaping through.
She deadpans at me. ''He just gave me pastries, once. I'm not a stray dog.'' That so?
''Huh? Well, if you are not, it's certainly weird that you got close just to smell him up~''
Her detailed answer is a middle finger, at which I let out a few chuckles.
Once we both get on the circle, it starts to glow with Demonic Power. I really hope this meeting (and possible recruitment!) goes well.
-Sona Sitri's POV-
Where is Rias right now? We agreed to give Fumigami a 'welcome' the moment he came back from… wherever he went.
I had to give it to him, even if his control left much to be desired, that little trick was quite immaculate. I can't even detect where the magic circle is if there is one at all. The only thing I could feel was his magic disappearing this morning and coming back around 30 minutes ago.
I was tapping my foot against the floor, again. It was a tick I could never shake off when I got impatient. Seriously, how long does one take to look presentable enough for a first meeting?
''Sona, she will come. You know she always takes a bit of time with things like this.'' The voice of my Queen, Tsubaki, is what makes me sigh and relax a bit. My impatience must have been bleeding through my expression.
''I know, I know. I just hoped that she won't take so long…'' Not true, really. I knew she was going to take her time, but the fact that we could have a dangerous Longinus user on our hands puts me on edge.
The smart choice would have been to contact our siblings, just to make sure the situation went perfectly smooth, but if we cried wolf at the first problem we ran into, no matter how big, it would reflect badly on our capabilities and our Houses as a whole.
Just when I was going to call her, the Gremory's magic circle appeared on the street. I already took charge of clearing the area around the apartment of people. Fortunately, it was a one-person apartment and not an apartment complex. That would have been a hassle.
''Sorry for taking so long. We got sidetracked.'' Comes the chirp tone and smile of my childhood friend, Grias Remory. Beside her, is Toujou Koneko, her Rook.
''Rias got distracted while getting ready. I was eating some cookies.'' Rias appeared to be struck by the words as she pouted at the smaller girl. Even if she isn't smiling, Koneko's smugness is something that can be felt.
''Ha… It's fine, Fumigami doesn't seem to have left his residence for now,'' I say, another sigh escaping my mouth. Their antics were usually amusing, but I wasn't in the mood today.
''Right, let's meet our new resident mage, shall we?'' Rias says and taps Koneko's head a few times, probably an inside joke about her height to get back at her. Meanwhile, Toujou just gives a thumbs up, and Tsubaki nods.
The four of us start moving to Fumigami's apartment. Rias and I are side by side as we get to his front door, our respective companions at our sides.
I knock on the door gently, yet firmly.

''Fuck!'' A muffled insult is the first thing I hear.
''He stubbed his toe.'' Amusement is clear in Toujou's words. Right, even if she doesn't have her 'traits' out, she still has quite the sharp hearing.
Sigh… This is going to be a long day, I'm sure.

Lamont: I'll see about that. I was thinking of Skill Books being having two ways about them. One, you can just use it and learn the basic Skill. Two, you can actually read it and eventually learn the Skill by understanding it, and then you get some levels on it depending on your understanding of the book.

Koncor the Great: The legendary Spear can copy any weapon that is considered a spear. So, things like the True Longinus should be doable. It will have different effects, however.
I actually thought about the whole feeding Sacred Gears to it. But it came a bit short. If, for example, he were to absorb Boosted Gear, then he will have a 'Red Dragon Emperor Spear', but how will I go about Balance Breaker and things like that?
It's probable he would end up using just that one in this case, and that's not what I want.
Koneko punching Riser in the head with a 'Holy Gauntlet' (Obtaining by feeding it Holy Water) sounds hilarious.
If you feed a pillar devil to the weapons, you can probably get a minor ability about them, but it depends on the Devil, too.
It's not the same to feed it Rias's blood as to give it Sirchez's.

So, this isn't a chapter, just an Interlude to see the perspective of the Rulers of Kuoh about our protagonist's actions. Don't worry, chapter 7 will be posted on Sunday as always.
Some people are probably going to be pissed at me for 'revealing' all his secrets and not making him some sort of badass mysterious MC, that's fine, but don't expect me to bend what I want to write just because you don't like it.
Yes, you read correctly, Kiba is mentioned as a 'she'. I actually have a bit of a problem with this. I was thinking of genderbending a few characters, but I don't know which are the best ones for that, and I can't mention them because of Spoilers. Tell me what you think, at this stage, making her a 'He' again is just changing one word. It will be more difficult later. There are some that I won't budge about, one is mentioned next chapter, too.
Anyway!
The Devils know about our Schizo MC, and they're a bit scared, to say the least.
The Legendary Spear doesn't exactly look the same as the True Longinus, but I think it can be confusing when rushing through it.
If the MC's actions infuriate you, that's fine too. But remember this is 'Gaming Badly'. This doesn't mean the MC is going to be a total dumbass but don't expect him to go out of his way to theorize and think of all the possibilities when he does something as if he was a Death's Note character.
