Chapter Ten
(Someone's going to emergency someone's going to jail)
part two
Robin waved at Steven Webber who was crossing the parking lot heading into pick up Elizabeth to help their grandmother with the last part of her move to Arizona. Robin couldn't imagine GH without Mrs. Hardy but knew that for the elderly woman this move was about enjoying life and still having Port Charles to come home to.
Turning the corner from Pine Street onto Ash just three blocks from the hospital, she saw a shadow out of the corner of her eye and quickly went to hit on her brakes, but it wasn't fast enough as she hit someone. Getting out of her car, she quickly rushed over saw the blond woman who soon was asking to be taken to the nearest hospital.
Robin was feeling guilty as she insisted on making sure that nothing was broken on the woman before even attempting to move her. Helping the woman into the back seat of her car, she got back behind the wheel. "We are three blocks from GH."
"That's fine." She announced with a strong accent that screamed New York or New Jersey. Arriving at the emergency room entrance, Robin called out for help and quickly turned the woman over to the on-call doctor then drove her car to the employee parking lot. Entering through the back, she soon stopped in to check on her accident victim only for the attending Dr. Thornheart to tell her that "The woman was a bit shaken up and will have a few bruises, but she refused treatment and signed a waiver."
Robin put it out of her mind. she had done what she could for the woman, as she continued on towards the surgical floor. Patrick Drake has spent the night in the on-call room due to a tricky operation the day before and she wanted to hear about how his patient was doing after all she had been in the theater too.
Maxie Jones poured her dad a cup of coffee and handed it to his grumpiness. He had come in outside carrying the newspaper as she was making herself breakfast and looked as if he had slept in his sweat clothes. Biting her tongue as she wanted to tell him he needed to throw those old things and had let her get him into some more stylish workout clothes, she said "Dad, A woman stopped by this morning, by the name of Diane Miller, she claims to be Jason Morgan's new attorney. Something about cooperation in regard to Helena Cassadine."
Groaning, he said "I got a call from Harper and Alexis telling me the same thing. I guess that means I am spending my day off still down at the station. What are your plans for the day?"
"First, Mom went to meet a client and intends to have lunch with Bobbie Jones before heading to a meeting with the mayor and his wife." She said then sipping her green tea with chamomile, told him. "I am spending the day at the hotel, I have another client there, a mid-morning one then lunch with Kate."
She saw the way her dad's lips were twitching, and she scowled. "Just because your idea of fashion is making sure that your socks match and your shirt is ironed, doesn't mean others don't care about it."
"I am sure, now how did you end up having lunch with this woman." Worried that Maxie was planning on just showing up and talking to the woman.
She gave him a grin and said "Jax set it up for me. Too bad he is too old. He is almost the perfect man. He dresses well, is kind, and he knows how to make a woman happy. Can you believe it, he heard me talking about Kate Howard and set up a meeting. Too bad he is so old and too tall."
Mac didn't know how to respond to that statement, so he diplomatically didn't. Maxie watched as her dad went to shower and muttered about how much more handsome, he would be if he only would let her change his wardrobe. Heading to the garage, she was soon on her way to the Metrocourt and handed the valet her keys.
Arriving in the restaurant, Maxie said down then looking at her watch was horrified to realize she was four and a half hours too early for her mid-morning appointment at eleven. Ordering breakfast and then seeing that they had a small group having some sort of meeting, asked her waiter if she could eat on the back terrace.
Finishing up her breakfast, Maxie paid her bill and moved towards the outer edges when she heard the sound of Carly and her ex-husband. Listening with disgust as Carly bargained with her ex-husband over their sons, she was furious when she agreed to let him take Morgan for a million but was requesting four more for Michael.
When torn between cheering on the godfather of Port Charles who at least appeared to want his sons equally and thinking that they were both revolting, Maxie was glad when they came to a deal. Too bad it was going to make that bitch Carly five million dollars richer, but Maxie would take pleasure in telling Jax what she said about being overextended on funds.
Sonny left and Maxie went to leave her spot only to stop when she heard Carly on the phone. "Did you find out the name of the place where you can get married this week like I read?"
Maxie didn't hear the answer but decided that it was an affirmative answer when the blond told someone to prepare the charter jet. Then there was silence then she replied. "I don't care about the cost, by the end of the day if you do your job, and get me what I need, I will be Mrs Jasper Jacks and won't give a crap about paying the credit card bill."
Maxie's eyes went hard as the blond quickly left the terrace. Coming out, she couldn't help thinking of all of the lives that Carly had ruined in town including her Uncle Tony's and announced. "Not this time, Carly, not this time."
Looking at the time, Maxie went to see what she could do to thwart the Blond's plans, and biting her lip, knew that she had to work fast or cancel her appointment with Kate Howard, after all she owed Jax.
"Dr Scorpio." Turning to see Dr Ford, she frowned as the man introduced her to the odd couple waiting in front of her. The woman was thin and curly brown hair, with blue eyes, pretty but in that all American girl way that reminded Robin of Emily. The man on the other hand, his looked fit the description of Lainey's locker room buddy. He had the dark curly hair and eyes that screamed his Italian ancestry and to Robin's annoyance, the way he looked her over and found herself dismissed in a clearly sexual way had her wanting to smack someone.
"I understand that you an incident with a blond woman, abut late fifties."
Robin nodded without adding anything more to what they had already stated while Dr Ford walked off to return to the ER.
"She is considered an FTA." The male offered. "That stands for..."
"I know, failure to appear. How may I help you?" She inquired.
"Janine Matthews is wanted for fraud with intent to deceive, knowingly passing counterfeit funds, theft of services, grand larceny and failure to appear for court." The male said interrupting the woman who had shown Robin her ID. Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter from New Jersey.
"Did she say anything that would explain where she was going and why she was here?" The woman asked and then to Robin's annoyance the man interrupted her to inquire if she knew the woman.
"May I see some ID?" Robin asked. She saw the annoyance on the man's face and then his reluctance to show her any. "Without ID, I am saying nothing."
"Joe show her your badge." The woman told him sounding annoyed with the man with her.
When he let out a huge sigh and said that this was a huge inconvenience. When Robin saw his police issue ID, she asked sweetly. "Did you inform the local police department that you are in their domain, Detective Joseph Morelli? Do you have a warrant? Ms. Plum is clearly here legally looking for this woman. You, not so much. And does your friend here know about your wandering into the woman's locker room and claiming to be a bounty hunter."
"I don't have to notify..."
"Yes, yes you do." She replied with her eyes on the woman who seemed to have realized that Robin knew something but that she wasn't going to tell her what it was as long as Detective Morelli was there.
"What they don't know won't hurt them." He muttered.
Robin let her lips form a huge grin and took out her phone and called "Uncle Mac, were you aware that there is a Newark Detective named Morelli in town, and he is misrepresenting himself as a bounty hunter?"
With that, she hung up and looked at the tall dark-haired man who claimed she was faking the call. "Don't need to, my uncle is the police commissioner. Now, if I were you, I would take the time to make a quick visit before my uncle calls your superiors and has a talk with them."
Muttering about woman and interfering busy bodies, he left, and Robin looked at the bounty hunter and said, "Why did you let him talk that way?"
"Joe's just upset because I got the jump on him by doing a little research into this Janine Matthews woman and found out that she comes to Port Charles about twice a year. He is in hot water with his superiors because she had escaped." Stephanie said leaving out that she had gotten a gun and gave it to her partner in crime.
"Guy is still a jerk." Robin replied then asked. "If he catches her, do you get the bounty?"
With a heavy sigh, she said "No, but my boss won't care, all he is going to want is her returned to jail. I wasn't the bounty hunter who brought her in originally and was sent to chase her down and return her." She replied. "I need help."
Robin gave her a doubtful expression and Stephanie was about to defend him when her phone rang. Answering it, she said "Ranger, where are you?"
"An hour away, Janine's partner left his hideaway. They found the engraver dead, shot with Morelli's service revolver."
Stephanie sighed, then told him. "He followed me to Port Charles. Joe is going to be tied up with the local police. His Captain told him that if this got any worse, he was back in uniform."
"Stay where you are, I will come to you." Robin could hear the man's voice as he asked where she was. When he heard she was at the hospital, Robin was amused to hear him asking if she was okay and did, she need a new vehicle?
"I'm fine, tracking down a lead on Janine." She said and then told him. "I have the Nissan Exterra."
"Ah, the banana mobile." He said before telling her that he was out and would arriving in about forty-five minutes.
Robin directed Stephanie to follow her and told the woman. "Janine Matthews daughter moved here about five or six years ago. In the time she has lived here she has already hooked up with four rich men, a one-night stand with a 22-year-old. Then there is Spencer, family doesn't have money, but they were notorious in our town."
"Would Janine go to any of them?" Stephanie inquired.
"No, she burnt her bridges with all of them. Let me make a few calls." Robin called Sonny and asked about Courtney's mother. When she heard his disgust with the woman, she hung up and told the bounty hunter. "Her ex-husband is the manager of a diner down by the docks called Kelly's. I just spoke to his son. Sonny said that she is probably in town looking for Courtney, but Courtney is on an island in the Caribbean."
"So, my best bet is this ex." She said only for Robin to stop her.
"If Janine wants to hide, her best bet would be here, and for her to call Mike to meet her here." Robin said and then added "Janine spent time here before and if she is wanted, she is going to avoid going to Kelly's. She is going to avoid the mob because Sonny won't help her, and my uncle knows who she is."
Blinking at how casually this doctor mentioned the mob, Stephanie asked if there was a cafeteria. Robin directed her to the small cafe in the basement and went to track down Patrick Drake, knowing that he had to have already begun his rounds without her.
Jerry Jacks was now aware of the yacht staying hidden near Spoon Island and its connections to the legendary diamond that he was determined to claim as his own. He had searched the blues club, had already searched the boat before sinking it and he done as thorough a search as he could of the island in the center of the bay. Still nothing. He had researched everything known about the diamond. He had even paid a visit to Laura Spencer who kept asking for her son's ex-girlfriend.
Jerry in desperation had even gone looking into Elizabeth Webber but had found no evidence that she had ever even seem the diamond let along had possession of it. He had one more thought, and he was going to need some of the truth serum he had brought to his brother to get the truth from the elderly woman hiding out on the large yacht.
Entering Jax's office, he went to the safe that Jax had put the drugs into and took them out. Pulling out the stopper, he was about to pour it into something when he realized that he had no container. Swearing, he waited and then had an idea. Jax was drugging Carly a bit at time, so that her truth telling would be a more permanent thing, so Jerry opened the fridge and saw that some of the bottles of water were marked and others weren't.
Not wanting to risk drinking the water himself, he heard footsteps and quickly closed the safe, putting the stopped up vial in his pocket and seating himself as causally as he could. Thankfully, it wasn't a moment too soon a blond young woman entered and said "Oh, I was looking for Jax."
"He stepped out for a few minutes. I was just leaving him a note." Jerry wrote said note then had an idea. Pulling out a bottle of water, he offered her one and then took one for himself. "Its rather warm for September."
"Tell me about it. My hair spray keeps the frizz under control, but it is a daily struggle, this should have ended at the end of August." She replied before taking the water bottle. Carefully ensuring that it was unopened as her dad had drilled into her in regards from taking drinks from strangers, Maxie took a sip and said "I want a refrigerator in my office. This is perfect."
"So, how do you know my brother." He inquired.
"I used to work here but his partner got me fired and Jax got me another job and he arranged for me to meet Kate Howard." With that she let out a sigh and then continued. "I am having lunch with the great Kate Howard, all because of Jax. So, anyhow, I owe him."
Jerry sat there amused as for the next half hour, the young woman waxed on and on about the greatness of this fashion guru. She never took a breath that he saw, but to his delight she soon had drunk the entire bottle of water. Looking at the time, he asked "So, what is your most embarrassing secret?"
"My secret or secrets I keep for others?" She asked blinking owlishly at him.
"Yours." He asked and was shocked when she answered him thanks to the drugs that she had to have drunk.
"Well, if you really want to know, I had a crush on Jason Morgan when my cousin was dating him, then there is the fact that I have a weird boob. Yeah, its the result of my heart transplant but it has a weird dimple as a result." Jerry was almost sure that she had drunk the water that was drugged, a bit surprised that his brother would do so obvious a step as to mark them with an x.
"I have a sex dream where I am dipped in chocolate and licked all over to clean it off of me. And I get turned on by vegetables, and bananas. Oh, I practice doing oral sex on an eggplant. And well, I used my father's handcuffs to trap an ex-boyfriend in bed."
Jerry quickly exited glad to get his beliefs confirmed but wanting to get away from this young girl, she was truly strange, never seeing the glint in Maxie's eyes as she watched him leave.
The blond said "As if I didn't know who Jerry Jacks is. I don't know what you are up to but I know that you were up to something. So, why do you want to know if I would tell you, my secrets?"
The blond looked in the fridge and saw more bottles of water with an x than without and then looked at the bottle he had given to her. "Aha, so the ones with the x don't contain whatever...some sort of truth drug, Jerry Jacks, you have been a very bad boy."
"Still." Maxie had an idea and with a frown got rid of the evidence, said to herself. "If this goes wrong, I am so blaming this on Carly."
Texting Carly's phone and then her Aunt Bobbies, she made two different appointments with the two women. When Carly arrived in Jax's office and found the Jones girl, she scowled and said, "What are you doing here?"
"Jax invited me." She said then told her, with that, she went to get a water without an x from the refrigerator, talking about how hot it was and how thirsty she was. Just as she expected, Carly's bitchy ass took the bottle of water away from her and drank it, straight down saying that if Maxie wanted something to drink, she should go and pay for it like any other paying guest at the hotel. That what was in Jax' fridge was for the owners not her.
Maxie stepped into the hallway and then saw a note on Jax' assistant's desk. "So, Carly, you want to fly out on a private jet, how about using this one."
Holding her breath as she made the call, Maxie goggled wedding and the time limits and soon came up with the weeklong Scottish Celebrations being held in Nova Scotia. Telling the pilot that she was Jax's temporary assistant, that Jax needed to fly up there and that there would be two passengers besides him, she couldn't believe what she was contemplating.
Maxie knew that she needed to do more than thwart Carly's plan, because the blond would simply make a new one, what she needed to do was marry the Aussie off and keep him safe from Carly. Maxie tried to think of a woman she could convince to marry the man and other than asking Robin or Emily she couldn't come up with a single name except for Kate Howard and Maxie didn't want to offend her hero by asking her to marry Jax.
Deciding that she didn't want to ask some rando, after all, they could possibly be worse that Carly, so Maxie winced but knew what she had to do. She had to sacrifice herself, it was as simple as that. When Carly tried to get her to leave, Maxie refused and watched as the blond left herself, slamming the door behind her. Maxie had an idea and grabbing two extra bottles of water, put them in her purse and chased down Carly, she had to keep her from getting to Jax.
Robin still hadn't located Patrick when she saw a dark-haired man speaking to one of the candy stripers who told him that Georgie had been at the hospital that morning, but she wasn't working. "It looks like she was babysitting her friend's little boy."
"Thank you." The Italian said and was walking away when Robin saw him talking to the man she was sure was Johnny O'Brien.
"Tracking down your lady love." Robin loved O'Brien's Irish accent, she thought to herself.
"I swear, its been impossible. I need to talk to her before going to talk to her dad about his idea of a job where I could be assured that people believe I am done." He spoke. "Besides, its been two and a half months, I miss her. First my dad has me kidnapped to protect me from Claudia then your boss insisted on my going to meet him. She has to be pissed, because I never got to call her."
"And to add to your bad luck, your lady love is pretty handy with a gun." Seeing the look on Johnny's face, Sean said. "Dad insisted on it. Miss Georgie Jones is a crack shot. Has been since she was a preteen. Francis and the rest of the guards used to bet on how she would do when she would go the range with her dad. She did better than over half of us and we are professional."
Robin saw the man gulp and let out a quiet chuckle and before she could approach the Irishman, she saw Patrick coming down the hallway and with reluctance went to track down the other doctor.
Maxie felt her jaw drop as she heard what Carly was telling her mother.
"Why would I help to support that loser?" She was asking. "You, you're my mother, and babysit my sons, so I might help you, but Luke, no way in hell. Let his family do it. What about Nik? Let Prince Moneybags support him."
"Carly, he is my brother." Bobbie was telling Carly. "Still, I'm not surprised, I spoke to Sonny, he told me how you requested he pay a million dollars for him to have custody of Morgan. And upped it to five million if that included Michael."
Carly shrugged and said, "I need Michael, Jason only helps out when its Michael. I can't lose that connection. Besides, Morgan is Sonny's son, so Jason isn't going to want to adopt him when we get married."
"Carly, there is no chance that Jason Morgan will marry you." Bobbie said worried about her daughter's sanity. "What are you talking about?"
"Yes, yes he will. I will wear him down and ensure that he knows that I am the only person who is always by his side. We are soul mates, two half of a whole." She said with a smug smirk on her face. "I am why he has never had a successful relationship, he is waiting for me."
"No, Carly he isn't." Bobbie quietly told her. "You are right, you are why he hadn't had a successful relationship, but not because he is waiting for you, but because you keep destroying his relationships. I am done, I am not sitting here listening to your delusions. You, need help, Carly."
When the red head left, Carly snarled out loud. "Well, if I didn't need you to keep the boys, I would tell you a thing or two."
Hearing her phone buzzing, Carly looked at her phone and said "Well how the hell I am supposed to arrange for the jet that is what I am paying them for. To get Jax to the jet and to get us out of the country."
Maxie was getting nervous when to her surprise, Carly passed out. Looking around, Maxie had no idea what to do none then had an idea. Going to speak to the desk clerk, who she knew hated Carly, he agreed to help and within minutes, Maxie was wheeling the blond out of the hotel and into the back seat of a hotel limo.
"Thanks Marty. I will keep your name out of it." She told the clerk as she felt sick. Holding her breath, she took out her phone and made the call, knowing she had always promised Mac to tell him when she was going to be out of town, due to her heart issues.
Morelli was not happy when he was made to sit in the bullpen as the small-town cop went to speak to his boss. Hearing the words mob, Corinthos and the name Helena Cassadine, he rolled his eyes, fuming that because of that small dark haired woman, he was being forced to sit here cooling his heels awaiting for the small town cop to authorize him to be on his own.
"Detective Morelli, my boss wants you in his office." Detective Harper announced before going to speak to Cruz and two fellow officers. "Turns out the big bad detective is off the reservation and his boss wants him back home ASAP, get this, a fugitive's girlfriend got his gun, and passed it onto the boyfriend and he shot up the police station, getting several officers wounded and it took a bounty hunter shooting at him to take down one of their gang but this Janine and her lover escaped."
Joe swaggered as he walked into the office and that quickly went away when he heard the sound of his Captain saying that he wanted his officer returned to Newark and immediately.
"I will express your directives to the gentleman." Mac replied the hanging up the phone looked at the man standing there. With an amused expression, he told him. "I don't object to you going off the reservation, I am not your boss, I do object to you coming into my town and not letting us know that we have a potentially dangerous fugitive running around. All it would have taken was one call. Now, your boss has requested that I put you on a plane back to New Jersey as soon as possible. Hope this was worth it, because you are going home."
Joe started to speak when Mac held up his hand and told him. "I can guess what you are thinking, small town cop, you can walk all over me. Its not happening. Now, this is what is going to be happening, you are going to place your weapon and your backup on my desk or I will ensure that you spend the night in my less than luxurious special accommodations and fly home tomorrow instead of today."
Joe didn't want to do what he was directed but before he could speak, a woman,a very nice looking woman with short red hair and a very nice body entered the room and spoke to the police commissioner. "Commissioner, I am Jason Morgan's new attorney. He asked me to come and speak to you regarding the large white yacht anchored out near someplace called Spoon Island."
"I will be with you in a minute, Miss Miller." Mac said and then looking at the officer, said "I am waiting, Detective Morelli."
The New Jersey detective did as directed and then Mac told him. "You may join the men in the bull pen but one twitch that I don't like, and you will end up in one of my cells until your flight at eleven."
Once the officer had left, Mac directed Miss Miller to have a seat and was about to speak to her when his phone rang. "Dad, its Maxie, I highjacked the Jacks company jet, I am flying with Jax to save him from that evil bitch Carly Benson Quartermaine Corinthos, Corinthos, Alcazar, Corinthos because she is planning on trapping him into marrying her. I should be home by six, but in case I'm not, tell Georgie that I need to borrow her black jacket."
"Maxie, I must have heard you wrong, you did what?" He asked.
"Dad, I just have to save Jax. He set me up an appointment dad, with her. I was going to be having lunch with freaking Kate Howard." Then silence then she said, "I had to cancel because Jax needs me, but that's okay according to Georgie, its not always a good idea to meet your heroes."
With that his daughter hung up and Mac stared at his phone, hearing the sound of dial tone, he looked at the woman said, "Did my daughter just announce that she highjacked a jet."
Diane Miller was amazed at how calm the man was after that conversation and how he deftly returned the discussion back to Helena Cassadine. After hearing what he had to say, she asked. "Aren't you worried about what your daughter told you."
"No, because I was expecting to have to arrest her today for stalking Kate Howard, Jax has a good head on his shoulders, he should be more than a match for whatever nonsense Maxie is getting up to today."
The two exited his office and Diane once again told him. "I am amazed at how well you are taking this."
"Ms. Miller, last week Maxie's informed her sister that as long as she didn't become a rich man's mistress or sell secrets to the mob, she could tell me anything. I know my daughter, she is wonderful, bubbly and also has the ability to drive sane people around the bend in less than an hour. If she is on the mission to save Mr. Jacks from that nightmare of Carly Jacks, I will step back and cheer her on." He replied, not adding that it wasn't the oddest thing one of his children had told him that week.
Jax came too, his head hurting as he very carefully sat up. Blinking away the blurriness in his eyes, he shook his head, then did so again. Carly, his annoying partner was tied up with duct tape, including across her mouth.
Groaning, because his brother had suggested doing just that a week ago, he said "Jerry, this isn't funny."
"I agree."
Hearing the sound of Maxie Jones voice, Jax looked at the petite blond who was holding a gun on the blond and looking very determine. "Maxie, care to tell me what is going on?"
"Well, when I woke up this morning, I was having a very great day, I had a shopping appointment with my idol then we were having lunch together, but no, Carly just had to ruin my day."
With that, Maxie informed him what she had heard on the terrace. "What is worse, I don't know which is worse, Sonny buying custody of his kids, or that bitch for selling them."
"Anyhow..." She filled him in on Carly's plans to trap him into marriage and why. "So, I went to tell you what I overheard and ran into your brother who offered me some water from your fridge and then asked me my deepest darkest secrets. By the way, your brother ran so far and so fast away, that you owe me."'
Hearing Maxie laugh, he asked what is going on. Hearing what she had told Jerry, Jax chuckled at the idea of his brother being run out of his office by this young woman who then told him. "I figured out what you were doing and keep it secret then went to step in because you don't deserve to be trapped into marriage by this putrid, puss filled piece of trailer trash who thinks that she has the right to ruin lives just because she wants to. I can't stand her and when she dies, will cheerfully read her obit, and throwing in my retirement fund towards the legal defense fund of whatever person gives into the urge to kill her someday."
"Tell me how you really feel." Jax murmured and to his surprise, he soon heard about what she thought about Carly.
"I get being hurt about being adopted but seriously, Aunt Bobbie was a hooker, did she really think she would have had a much better life being raised in a bordello?" Maxie replied. "She shows up here, tried to trap Jason but thankfully for him, he finds out she was sleeping with his brother who turns out to be the father of her child and then there is the disgusting facts of she was sleeping with Uncle Tony who was already in his mid forties and she was in her early twenties. He was twice her age, then she had no name sex with AJ and Jason and who know how many other men at Jake's."
"She uses her gold digging ways to get Jason to take her in, then lies to AJ and lies to Jason, who to most of the town's amusement, doesn't realize that she wants him badly, but he won't go there, not again." Carly was fighting the duct tape only for Maxie to tell her. "Carly its waterproof duct tape, the kind they use on boats, so mutter away, bitch."
When the young woman went through Carly's marriages, divorces and remarriages to Sonny, she smirked at the blond woman and told Jax what she had overheard just before bringing Carly along on their little trip. "Her delusional ass thinks that Jason Morgan is waiting to take her back. That they are soul mates, which I find funny. Carly in order for you to be someone's soul mate, you would have to have one, but you don't. Where you should have a heart, you have a cash register and the only soul you have is the ones that you have been sucking out of the innocent citizens of Port Charles."
"Maxie, do you have a plan, or are we just flying around so that you can take chunks out of her." Jax asked the blond while drinking the offered bottle of water that Maxie had drugged using the vial she had found when she had searched Carly's purse.
She had drugged the blond again and after talking to her had the sickening feeling that it wasn't the first time the blond had used this drug. It was a wonder she hadn't used it to trap Jason into marriage.
"We are going to go through with Carly's plan, just with a change of one small thing." Maxie felt regret when Jax sank into the sofa beside her, dropping like a heavy stone. "Carly, isn't google great."
When she could hear Carly speaking Maxie pulled the duct tape, she had purchased intending to give it to Dante Falconari as a gift for his trip, and pulled off a strip and said, "I don't want to even hear you muttering, so do me a favor, shut the hell up."
Placing the tape across Carly's already taped mouth, being careful to avoid the woman's nose, she didn't want her to die just yet, after all, Maxie hoped and yet hoped that she was wrong as she used the fact that Jax was in a suggestive state to convince him that he needed to marry her that day.
Patrick heard two of the nurses talking and was hiding the need to preen as they went on and on about how dreamy his brown eyes were and how his smile had made them melt. His ego quickly went away when he realized that it couldn't have been him because the man they were discussing was apparently dressed in all black.
"Patrick, how is Mr. Paxton?" The brain surgeon saw Robin walking his way and he stopped to wait for her, trying to figure out what it was about her that drew him in so completely. There were more beautiful woman in the hospital, there were much nicer woman, a few with brains as sharp, but this woman was the one who caught his attention and had him thinking of things he had always swore he would never do.
"He has stabilized." Patrick went on to inform her of the patient's vitals and how he had squeezed his hand during an earlier visit. "So, I just heard something from a couple of nurses, about a bounty hunter being in the hospital. Is that the same one walked into the ladies locker room at the gym?"
"Yup, except he wasn't a bounty hunter more like a Jersey police officer." She said as she looked over at the sound of someone staying her name. "Yes, I am Dr Scorpio."
Patrick saw the way that Robin's eyes went wide and how she wet her lips and turned scowling at whomever had caught her attention. Yup, black clothes, dark brown eyes and Patrick instantly knew that deep down he hated this guy.
"I am Ranger." He announced. "Stephanie Plum and I work together. She mentioned you were helpful earlier, and I was hoping you could be again."
Robin had done very little work today, but she had been here on her own time, so she reached out to hold onto Patrick's arm and said, "We would both be glad to help."
Patrick was about to protest but then decided he didn't want to leave Robin alone with this guy. "So, is Ranger a first name, a last name or a nickname?"
The man gave him a level glare then told Robin. "Janine and her partner are apparently planning on getting married. She is looking for a catholic priest. I was told when I called around that the only Priest currently available was here at GH today."
Robin thought about it then said "Father...Father, oh what is that man's name. You know the one Patrick, the one who has all those tattoos."
"Mateo." Patrick replied. "When he is here, he usually stops in the chapel, his older brother ended up here after he was shot, so he comes to light a candle for him."
"Thank you." With that, Ranger called his partner and said "We need to get a hold of a license, we can use that to get close to this Janine. I have a plan."
Robin was about to exit the area when she saw Emily arriving and asked, "I thought you were helping Audrey Hardy and Elizabeth."
"We finished by nine thirty and Elizabeth and Jason went to speak to each other." she replied then with a chuckle told Robin. "Jason asked if they could do it without his gun being there as he would really like to have more children."
"I don't think she would shoot him." Robin said then asked "What about you?"
"No, Elizabeth is in love with Jason." Emily stated then with a laugh she added "She might maim him a bit, but it wouldn't be anything permanent, and she would take care of him so, its all good."
Robin went to her office, Patrick still following her, to her amusement. When she asked why he didn't head home, he said. "I want to talk to you about something, but it can wait."
Finding it difficult to get her paperwork done, Robin did manage to work halfway through her pile when she heard a knock on her door. Then the bounty hunter's head pop in. "I was wondering if you minded helping us a bit more. By the way, Joe is on the way to the airport, your uncle is sending him back to Newark."
"What do you need?" Patrick offered, standing and stretching from where he had been doing his own paperwork and needing a break.
"Witnesses. Ranger and I are getting married." She said. Seeing Robin's eyes widen, she said with a wink. "At least that is what Janine and her true love, Oswald Sullivan believe. Your priest, agreed when he heard about Oswald and his penchant for shooting innocents. We need someone to stand up as witnesses to make it more believable."
Robin looked at Patrick and then agreed, heading to the chapel where the new priest was quietly speaking to her partner. 'Your partner is a man of few words, unlike the detective."
"Ranger says what he needs to."
Stephanie replied then went to join the two men stating. "We have our witness, Father Mateo."
Robin found herself explaining what she was talking about to Patrick, who told her. "A cop versus a bounty hunter, we might be better with the officer here, Robin." Robin was about to answer that she trusted the bounty hunter more when she realized that there was some sort of tension with the pair of bounty hunters so she stepped up and pulled her off to the side, just as they heard footsteps entering the chapel. Seeing Janine Matthews, she was about to speak when the dark haired bounty hunter stepped next to Stephanie and told the priest that they were ready just as Patrick Drake reached out to pull Robin out of the line of fire.
As they stood there, arguing softly both couples never saw the amused grin on the priest's face as he asked both couples the wedding ritual questions and neither noticed as he prompted them to answer. By the end of the 'ceremony', he announced, "You may now kiss the bride."
A frustrated Patrick did just that while the two bounty hunters were still arguing until the male just leaned down and pulled his partner into a kiss just as they heard more footsteps. Father Mateo had both couples signing the registry and certificates which he knew they believed to be fake.
Patrick looked up to see a seedy looking man had joined the woman he had seen earlier as they waited for the priest. Pulling Robin back to the corner, he saw the 'happy' couple walking up the center of the aisle and faster than he could blink, the man in the back of the room was told he was under arrest.
"Oswald Sullivan, you are being remanded into custody to be taken back to Newark, New Jersey for failure to appear." The dark haired Cuban stated as he removed the gun from his waist band and slipped the riot cuffs on the middle aged man who looked stunned at being caught that quickly changed when the woman who was now wearing cuffs of her own began to shout at him. "I told you, I told you we should have just eloped, but no, you insisted we had to be married."
As Robin watched two other men joined the first two bounty hunters and a man named Tank directed them out of the chapel and towards the door. Stephanie turned to thank them for their help, when the priest handed them a piece of paper. "Your wedding certificate."
"It's fake." Stephanie replied with a laugh.
"No, as I told your partner, I would never dishonor a sanctuary of the lord in such a manner." Ranger winced at the look on Stephanie's face and quickly pointed out that they needed to turn the FTA's over to local law enforcement so that they could get them quickly transferred to New Jersey. "Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Manoso."
Maxie shoved Carly into the closet and was amazed when the Canadian Border control didn't look closer at the jet. Two hours later, they were returning to fly back home, Jax stunned to realize that he had just married the barely twenty five year old. "Your father is going to kill me."
"Well, your safe from Carly at least." Jax wasn't so sure, because right now, she could get them for kidnapping her.
"Speaking of Carly?" He asked and was led into the bedroom on the plane and found the blond seated on his luggage rack and her hands handcuffed to the clothing rod. The blond was unconscious and to Jax's surprise, he felt sorry for the woman as Maxie cheerfully pulled off the duct tape that she had used on her. "Wow, a product that does what is advertises. There really isn't any sticky residue and will hold through anything."
"What are we going to do with her."
"Well, I would prefer throwing her out of the jet over open water, but like most cock roaches, she wouldn't die so we are going to do to her what she did to you." Carly was returning to awareness, and Maxie wished she could gag her as she opened her mouth saying that she wasn't going to cooperate only for Maxie to use a knife to cut another piece of the duct tape and threaten her with it.
When Carly screamed, Maxie said "Aw, poor Carly, I know from talking to Anna that the jet is soundproof, the pilots can't hear what is going on back here, so shut up."
Pulling out the remains of the vial, Maxie said. "Carly, I would have no problems shooting you and would wake up tomorrow morning, only thinking that its a shame that your shoes and purses will end up at the nearest goodwill. So don't push me."
Carly glared but went silent while Jax didn't know whether to be amused or protest the way that Maxie was manhandling the blond.
"Now, are you going to drink all of this like a good girl or do I have to make you?" Maxie inquired.
Carly ground her teeth together and Jax could only watch, having been convinced by Maxie to let this play out as she wished. "Okay, the hard way."
Maxie held Carly's nose closed, when the blond tried to fight it, the younger woman said, "I can make sure that you are unconscious for this."
"I won't let you drug me." She said with clenched teeth.
"Why not, its not like you have never drugged others before." Maxie said then with a frown asked. "How did you get your hands on something like this. I know enough to know that it is rare and not something you can get from your local drug dealer and its a good bet that Sonny doesn't know about it."
Seeing Carly's fear, Maxie said "Open sesame."
Eventually Carly needed to breath and when she did Maxie tilted her head back by grasping onto her hair and forcing her to swallow. "Carly, you are going to forget every single bad think that has happened today other than not being able to marry Jax. You are going to blame that on me and swear revenge but ultimately you will lose. Okay?"
Jax frowned when Maxie got the blond to agree, then the untied Carly and said "Go sit in front and wait for us. Read a magazine, think about your children and stay away from Jason Morgan."
Maxie waited until the blond had left then told her 'husband,' "The drug she just took mixed in with the truth drug you gave her is going to bind on a molecular level. I spoke to Anna Devane before highjackng your jet, she is who told me what to do."
"Maxie, we need to talk." He said, needing to know what she knew and try to figure out how to proceed.
Maxie sat down and told him all she had done, and he was stunned as she filled him in on what he hadn't been told because Carly had been a witness. "So, she got a hold of this drug before."
With a frown, Maxie told him. "Last time, Anna gave it to Luke, supposedly for use on Helena. Yet the timing of it, fits with Jason and Elizabeth's history. I hate that woman. I truly hate her."
Jax was holding the ribbon that had sealed their marriage and said, "I believed you, why else would you have married me to save me from her."
"Nah, I did that because you were so nice and tried to set up that meeting with Kate Howard." She said with a smile. "You didn't have to do that and only did so to be nice. You're a nice guy, Jasper Jacks."
"Kate!" Jax then had an idea and told Maxie about Kate's morning and told her. "I have an idea of how to help her with her work issues."
Jax thought about his day and struggled not to laugh as he took in Carly who was very quiet, which was an odd look on the blond. Maxie had called Mac before kidnapping him and then when she heard about Warren James and his forcing Kate out. Her calling her dad in spite of everything going on to get him to arrest the man for fashion crimes just about made his already insane day.
When she had read the riot act to the woman, after accidentally drinking the tainted water, Jax had almost felt sorry for Carly because he was certain that when she had awoken this morning with the intention of implementing her plan, the last thing she had expected was to cross paths with the Jones girl.
Leaning back, as his eyes went from his new 'wife' to the blond and back, he saw the way she was glaring at Carly and in spite of knowing that they needed to talk, suggested that Maxie get some sleep. "Are you sure?"
"I think that Carly is suitably cowed." Jax said with a slight smile at the belligerent tone. "Go, you are going to need your strength for when we get back and explain what just happened to your father."
"Oh my god." Maxie suddenly sat back down and looking at the tall blond man she had married. "He is going to kill me. He is never going to believe what I did."
Laughing out loud, Jax said "I think I will be drawing the fire, not you."
"No, uh, I forgot to tell you." Maxie said. "The honesty, wasn't only with you. I uh, I called my dad and told him that I was kidnapping you and taking your jet to get married. That I had researched it and knew that all we had to do was sign an affidavit that we would have to stay married for a year and a day for them to make this legal."
Jax swallowed and said, "I missed that part."
"I'm so sorry Jax. I just saw the red mist that Elizabeth describes it as when I heard Carly plotting to marry you for your money and influence." She said with a glare at the other woman who just sat there smirking at the young girl. "I guess, I didn't think things through like Georgie is always warning me to do."
"Maxie, who exactly did you tell we were getting married?" He gently inquired, his mother was going to be laughing when she heard about this and as for Jerry, his brother was never going to let him live this down. Instead of trapped into marriage by the hardened man trap Carly, he had been bossed into marriage by a pint-sized terror who had married him to save him from the other woman and had seen through his plan to drug her and turned it around on him.
Blushing, she said "My dad and, uh, well, I had to cancel my appointment with Kate Howard, so I told the hotel clerk who took the message that I was canceling with her to save you from a fate worse than death."
"You canceled your appointment with your idol to rescue me." He said oddly touched as he knew how much the young woman adored his old friend. "I will talk to her."
"Its fine." Maxie replied. "While I would have liked to work for her, I also don't want to move to New York because it means changing doctors and having to go over my medical history with someone new. Its bad enough that Alan Quartermaine retired so I had to talk to Leo Julian his replacement. Its difficult, you know, knowing that someone died so that I could live. And that it was BJ..."
Jax had long heard of the circumstances of her life, but had never really thought about it, what she had to feel. To him it was a feel good story, how one family whose tragedy had saved their cousin who still lived, who had the beating heart of someone who hadn't survived. "I never thought about that."
With a sad bittersweet smile, Maxie said. "I know, I do, every single day when I wake up, I do."
Steven had finally caught Emily and pulled her gently into an empty hospital room and pressed a kiss to her lips. "How are you here. I thought that Elizabeth and you had plans."
"She ran into Jason, and they need to talk." She replied as she felt his arms encircling her waist and his head rest on top of hers. "You know, you are almost too good to be true."
"Yet, alas, according to rumors you are plotting to run off with my sister and share me with Georgie Jones." He said with a smile on his face.
"True." She said then corrected herself. "No, actually, I am going to be sharing myself with Georgie but keeping you on as my boy toy."
Chuckling, he said "Want to share what is going on?"
With a sigh, she said "That is my question. Steven, you are so careful with me, I just want to be sure that this is what you want and that I didn't push myself onto you."
Separating a bit, he pulled her over to the bed and sat them both down. "I am a bit worried that I am a rebound relationship from Nik."
"Wouldn't that be Sonny?" She asked pointing out that that had been her last relationship.
"No, I get what Sonny was about." He replied. "I know how hard it was for my sister to walk away from her past with Lucky, in spite of in truth, not being in love with him since they were teenagers. I am worried about the same for you."
With a sigh, she leaned back and said, "No, it took a long time to face, but Nik and I, we aren't true love. I wanted it to be, what girl wouldn't want her teenage prince charming to sweep her off her feet, but life proved that that was just a dream, not reality. Reality is his entitled maternal relatives, his crazy paternal relatives. Its a man who has grown up believing that he is meant for certain things. Nik, when he didn't stand by me, when he chose Courtney, when he chased after her because she was thought pregnant with his kid, who wanted to marry her for only that reason. It proved to me that marrying Prince Charming, well the books all end at they all lived happily ever after."
"I outgrew that, and I think that my affair with Sonny was about finally breaking those ties." Emily said. "Nik and I talked about it, back when Courtney was still pregnant. I think we surprised each other with admitting that we want different things in life. I was worried that he was biding his time, but then he took out a loan to return my trust fund to me. It was our last time and its been a good idea that it ended. I miss the idea of loving the prince, not the man himself."
"Castles are drafty and there is always an evil stepmother." Emily said then with a chuckle said "In this case an evil grandmother. I wish Siobhan and him well. She loves him enough to accept him and isn't tied to old friendships so she can see the Spencer family clearly and speaks her mind about them, which due to my past friendship with Lucky, I felt I couldn't."
When Steven reached out and held her hand, Emily asked a bit hesitantly. "Steven, how it is that I have never heard you discuss past relationships?"
Looking over at her, he told her. "I didn't have any."
Seeing her shock, he let out a low chuckle and said "No, at most I have allowed myself six weeks with anyone. I don't want to raise hopes that until recently I couldn't fulfill. I don't know what Elizabeth has told you about our family, but my father's relationship history completely affected all of us."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, my dad's first wife was in love with his brother, my mother sold me and destroyed my dad's belief in family. He got me back and the woman who had adopted myself was murdered. Dad's love life plus his own family history did a number on him. When we moved west and he met Carolyn, they were more a marriage of career convenience than anything. They had Sarah and Elizabeth because it was expected, rather then my stepmother wanting kids. Dad didn't know how to parent and they hired staff to raise us. Staff that they only employed for one year at a time then were let go. It did a number on all three of us. When they left to head overseas, dad set funds up for us, and we would hear from them on holidays and birthday when they would send presents and more funds. Dad didn't even do that right, because we recently learned that Elizabeth's funds have been sitting in a bank in Colorado growing all this time. Dad didn't even think to ensure that they were transferred here when she moved east."
"Wow, Elizabeth didn't tell me anything about that." Emily said sounding hurt.
"I think that I am the only person who knows besides Grams who tore a strip off of Jeff up one side and down the other. Elizabeth refused to accept it but its one of the things that she was arguing with Grams about. Grams wants her to accept it, saying that it is the very least Jeff should have been doing."
"She's hurt." Emily said softly, getting her friend's reaction.
"She has every right to be. When I went to speak to my dad about Heather, about my physical health fears, its the first time he has been honest not only with us, but himself. He admitted that he was a lousy father." Steven said. "He's says he can relate to us as adults, but he had no idea what to say to any of us, when we were kids. When we were talking about Heather, he told me that her mental health issues were the result of the drugs she took, something he had never told me. I have spent most of my teenage years and adult years believing that insanity ran through my mother's side of the family."
"So, am I case of right time, right place." She asked quietly.
With a laugh, he told her. "No, the first minute I walked into Jake's, and you claimed me, I was amused, then when you lied about not having a key to Elizabeth's apartment, then offered me a share of your bed, I was determined to put you to bed and wait until you sobered up. When you woke me up with a kiss that morning, I was so determined to not end up sleeping with you. I know you, from Elizabeth's letters and wanted to be sure that you saw me for me, and I am now seeing you through my eyes, not Elizabeth's."
"Aw, that is so sweet." She said as she leaned in to kiss him.
"Dr Quartermaine, your father is looking for you." Epiphany's voice broke them apart quicker than throwing ice water on them.
Mac Scorpio regretfully gave Bobbie the rest of the bad news regarding the Haunted Star and then went to speak to Alexis who was reading a report regarding Luke's injuries. "How is Bobbie doing?"
"I think that as long as Morgan helps her out, she will be fine. What worries me is that I think I just saw Jerry Jacks skulking around Kelly's." He stated. "I'm hoping he is here to help Jax out of whatever trouble that Carly Corinthos involved in, not the Cassadine mess."
"By the way, I heard a rumor from Kristina's doctor, that your niece married Patrick Drake today."
"Its true." He replied sounding just tired. Seeing her raised eyebrow, he said. "There has to be a full moon, both Robin and Maxie are off the rails today. With Robin, at least it involved Drake, Maxie involved herself with your non ex-husband, and Carly so, we both know that that isn't going to end well."
"At least Georgie is fine." She offered.
Drawing his fingers into a fist and hitting the edge of her desk, he said "Knock on wood, because thanks to your words, I fully expect to learn that she has either shot someone or with my luck married that idiot Dillon Hornsby."
When she laughed, he said, "Just wait, one day Kristina will be a teenager and then we will see who is laughing last."
Robin was beyond stunned, she was married to Patrick Drake, and apparently it was legal. Smiling weakly at Alexis Davis, she told her. "Yes, Uncle Mac knows how it happened. The entire hospital knows, Emily accidentally informed the entire hospital an hour ago. Then when I saw him at Kelly's he just oddly enough accepted. Now, how do I go about arranging for an annulment?"
"You will need an attorney and to stay out of the good doctor's bed." Alexis warned as Robin glared at her for saying it. "Just saying, that I know that there is an attraction to the man."
"I have to track Patrick down, Uncle Mac is demanding we have dinner at the house tonight, something about Maxie and Jasper Jacks." She said as she exited the station, she had been looking for her uncle, but he had gone to the airport with the bounty hunters escorting Janine and her fugitive boyfriend Sullivan.
"Ms. Davis, the Sheriff Department is on the phone, asking about a Caroline Corinthos." Groaning, Alexis went back to her office and took the call. After listening to what the Sheriff said, she asked. "Do you intent to prosecute her?"
"If she doesn't calm down, I am intending to have her remanded in Forest Hills as a mental patient." The man announced shortly. "She confessing to crimes going back to her childhood and making other statements that well aren't of a criminal nature, make it very clear that she belongs locked up until well which from the sounds of it, could be years."
"May I get a copy of the transcript?" Alexis inquired.
"Yes, but none of it can be used against her, unfortunately. Our head doc says that she is having a mental breakdown. So, nothing she is saying can be trusted. However, when I ran the name of the man, she claims was supposed to be marrying her, by the way, she claimed she had plans to kidnap him and she doesn't know what went wrong. Anyhow, your name popped up."
"Jasper Jacks." She said sounding resigned. "The police commissioner mentioned something about Carly and Jax earlier today."
"Yes, that was the name, along with his wife. This Corinthos woman got off the jet and seemed to be shocked according to the ground crew when the wife mentioned their marriage. She screamed and went to attack the wife, and it took this Jacks fellow and three members of the ground crew to subdue her until we arrived. We have the video footage."
"As far as I knew, Jax wasn't seeing anyone in particular. Do you know the wife's name?" She asked, she had heard that Kate Howard was in town, but didn't think that Kate was his type.
Alexis heard the rustle of paperwork then when he answered her question asked him to repeat himself. "Because it sounded like you said that Jax was married to a woman named Maxie Jones."
"Maxamilla, but, yes, that is the name." Alexis felt weak as she dropped the phone, shocked at what she had just heard. When the sheriff hung up, Alexis pulled out a paper bag she kept in her drawer for these occasions and began breathing in and out, trying to stave off a panic attack.
Maxie was seated in the limo across from her husband who was speaking to his mother. When she told him that she had a good idea what he had to tell her, he said "Carly somehow found out. Or rather her Uncle Luke did."
"If you had only come to me." She gently admonished. "Jax, I have known for years. What you were never aware of was, what your father and I kept silent about was that while you are my biological son, Jerry isn't. His mother gave birth to him and then gave him to your father and myself. She was an adventurer, she didn't want to be tied down with a child. Your father and I were just beginning dating but we knew that we were it for each other. I raised Jerry as if he was my own. How Luke Spencer found out, I have no idea, but that man has always been a bottom feeder."
"Does Jerry know." He asked.
"Yes, your father told him the truth a year before his death. Its why I believe that he went off the rails, so to speak. We both told him that no matter whoever his biological mother was, it didn't matter to us. We were his family. He went looking for this woman, who knows where she is living now or if she is. Now, get that woman out of your hotel."
"I uh, I have some other news." He told her the about his day and to his amusement, she was soon laughing and telling him that she had to meet his wife. Maxie saw his eyes meeting hers and found herself wanting to laugh as she heard his side of their wedding. "You will more than likely meet my widow, because something I neglected to mention. She is one of Mac's daughters."
Jerry was plotting on getting a hold of one of the elderly woman's henchmen, she had yet to leave the ship while he had been watching, but her staff came and went on a fairly regular basis. He was hiding in a nearby rundown studio building. He could fell the tension in the air that meant a storm was coming.
He had entered it so that he could stay out of sight of the mob, and when he had picked the locks, he had ended up hiding behind a steel door in a large studio that held so much dust that it was clearly unused. He had avoided touching anything, not wanting to leave a trace of his having been here.
Hearing the sound of footsteps, he looked around and found a closet when he heard the sound of a key in the lock. Cursing as he quickly closed the door and pulled out his gun so he could defend himself as needed, Jerry eavesdropped.
"Thank goodness, Lizbits hasn't been here in a while." He heard the Irish accent telling someone. "Did you hear the rumors about what Helena is looking for? Jason doesn't know what that means and I am surprised, because Sonny did, its another thing that he didn't tell him the truth about."
"That diamond that Spencer stole from her." The other man was saying. "Last time I saw that, Luke had it trying to deprogram that idiot son of his. He was pissed that we wouldn't bring Lizbits back from the island. I considered stealing it when we knocked his ass out and put him back in the blues club, but figured he might remember talking to us that night."
Snickering, the Irishman said, "He was so drunk and paranoid that Helena was after it and him, you could have taken it and he would have believed she stole it."
"Its not worth the headache." The second man said. "Nothing involving the Spencers and Cassadines ever is. Now, why did you want to meet here."
"We have a small problem." He was told. "I got a call from Italy."
Groaning, he soon asked. "What did the yenta want?"
"Nothing too bad, just Elizabeth and Jason married as soon as possible. I told him about Carly Corinthos and her plan to marry Jax blowing up in her face. He has someone who is taking care of her as we speak and Maxie Jones went to save Jax by marrying him to keep him safe from Hurricane Carly." The Irish voice was announcing while Jerry Jacks shuddered at the name Maxie Jones. He had finally figured out she had played him. That one was a little minx who was going to drive his brother crazy.
"Wow, would love to see Mac Scorpio's reaction to that one." The second voice sounded amused. "By the way, your young charge has located his lady love and is making plans to speak to her at the end of her shift, we might need doc on call."
"Oh, speaking of Georgie Jones, I found out her secret job. Interesting." The Irish voice said. "I also saw that it was a bit exposed so I had my people do some digital erasing. Stan did a good job hiding things and they have diversified her portfolio, but there are so obvious clues. I removed them this afternoon. Oh, and you can make the donation to the local kids program."
"What are you going to do about Yenta's orders."
"Tell Jason, after all it is giving him what he already wants." Irish said. "That bounty hunter left town with his female partner. I am a bit worried, because the Jersey gang wants their plate back and Sullivan lost them to the police. Not that I care about Bimbo Barbie's mother, but I don't like that they came here."
"Sullivan was very determined to be married to Janine, which begs the question why?" Jerry didn't care about any of this and it was almost six which was when the crew would come ashore. Thankfully, he heard the two men moving towards the exit only to curse as he realized they went to the window. "What do you think she is up to?"
"I don't know, but her men are late." Irish replied. "Do you think that they are making a move?"
"Call Marco." Jerry heard, not happy to realize that they were watching for the yacht crew as well.
"Marco, its Sean. Any movement?"
"Are you sure?" Jerry wanted to know what was being said.
He heard Irish telling someone to watch closely then heard. "Helena took off in a helicopter this morning leaving minimum crew. She was on a flight path to Ottawa and then returned to the airport not the yacht. She drove to the blues club and then took the launch to Spoon Island."
"So it won't be tonight." With that, Jerry heard them leaving and waited a few minutes before exiting the closet. Annoyed to realize that the person he was after was holed up on the island she knew way better than he did, he exited the studio and went to track down what the hell was going on with his brother. Just as he stepped out from the entranceway, the rain started, and the Aussie was soon soaking wet on the way to where he had hidden his stolen car.
Georgie Jones was thrilled when it started to pour down rain. That meant that the diner would be slow, and she could relax. Hearing the phone, she answered. "Kelly's?"
Her aunt told her that if it remained slow due to the weather, to go ahead and close early. "Tell Cook, that I will finish any inventory tomorrow. There is no reason for the two of you to be stuck out in this nasty weather."
"And, sweetie, crash in one of the rooms, don't go out in this weather. I know that you are having wiper issues." Bobbie replied.
"Dad, got the wipers fixed." Georgie said then told her. "I might just stay; did you hear about Robin?"
"Yes, your father seemed almost numb to the news." Bobbie said. "I was amazed at how well he took it."
Helena was not happy with what she had learned. Nik had obeyed the letter of her order regarding Spencer but had still found a way to help the man. Still, it looked as if he was slowly cutting ties to Port Charles and she was all for that.
Looking around the study, she frowned as she heard the thunder that meant she was stuck on the island until it cleared. Making a few calls, she asked. "What about Spencer's family?"
"The son is in rehab, still getting off the drugs, the daughter, she is following in her father's footsteps, chasing after her meal ticket." She heard. "Do you want me to quash that?"
"For now, no." Helena said. "Let Lulu think she is winning, then when she is just about to get this boy to the alter, release the video of her falling down the stairs."
Helena was walking through the tunnels, when she saw the old basement cells and had a thought, Luke, he had smugglers cells in that pathetic little blues club of his. Was he capable of overcoming the drugs and torture? Under normal circumstances no, but Helena knew that for money, that man would do anything.
Calling for the launch to be covered, she wasn't happy to be told that it would take forty minutes but then decided. "Take your time, I want to leave under the cover of darkness."
The man in the shadows told someone on the phone. "Yes, your highness. I will take care of her when she is off the island."
"Hello, Georgie." Bobbie was home and was preparing dinner for herself. She had spoken to Jason who had called her back. What he was offering for the blues club and offering to buy Luke's half of the diner, made her life much, much easier. He had stated, that he was going to use Jason Q's funds to keep things simple.
Nik had sent her paperwork giving her full control of the house, which she accepted with regret, as he told her that what he had received from the Deception building was more than enough to support his mother for a few decades. So, he was going to release the house to her. That he felt guilty he couldn't do more to help Luke.
So, she had spoken to a Realtor; who had told her that with the market being as hot as it was and the house being as big as it was, she should receive a decent offer for it. So, for now, her money worries were at bay.
Turning on the television for the 6:30 repeat of the 6PM news show, she was pouring her soup into her oversized cup and lifting her grilled Portobello mushroom and Swiss cheese sandwich and went to sit at the breakfast nook.
Hearing her daughter's name, she shook her head and decided to deal with that tomorrow, well aware that Sonny had the boys and needing the night to clear her head from dealing with her child, Bobbie waited for the latest weather report and instead was upset on behalf of Mac, how dare they report such rumors as fact.
While Bobbie had never been a fan of romance novels, she knew that there were many, many women who were and that they would be fanatical about the latest gossip about this Sophie le Couer. Suddenly the mental image of an entire gaggle of women chasing Mac Scorpio through the center of town trying to rip his clothes off, had Bobbie laughing, she took another sip of her tomato soup, a giggle escaping as her imagination had Felicia having to defend his virtue with a bullwhip and wearing a fedora.
Kate Howard had logged on to her social media account, wanting to know how her press release had gone over. Was she about to be a has been? Holding her breath, she saw Olivia looking at her strangely from where she was taping something on the television. "What?"
"Uh, Kate, you might want to see this." Olivia waited until she was seated next to her on the hotel sofa and then hit play.
"In other news, fashion divas around the world are crying in their design duds as fashion guru Kate Howard has resigned from her long-time position as head editor of Couture Magazine."
"Ms. Howard sent in a statement to various media outlets explaining that she felt it was necessary to take a step back as she feels that she had begun to feel unfashionable and that she has every intention of coming back after her sabbatical during which she is going to be venturing out of her comfort zone and that she is going to take on several new and different project including purchasing an old manor house and restoring it to be used as the new headquarters for her upcoming projects and potential new magazine once the non-complete clause for Couture has ended.
Ms. Howard has set up a web address and intends to blog about her adventures. Many have wondered if she was one of the few in the know of who the author of the Sophie la Couer romance adventure books is. As was recently reported by James Publishing once the author wraps up the latest in the Edmond and Josephine series, the author intends to create a new hero for legion of fans to fantasize about.
Kate wasn't so happy that that was what the reports had focused on but it HAD made sure that her name had ended up in the newscast but how had they learned about her interest in the romance writer.
Ms Howard recently gave us a hint at the end of her email. All it said was
Sophie la Couer = Malcolm Scorpio
And as one of the millions of loyal le Couer readers, I have to admit wanting to know, just who is Malcolm Scorpio. The name sounds just divine, will he be a smoldering anti hero like her last, Edmond Hawthorne. Or is Kate Howard hinting at something else, like the author of the hottest romance books since that Italian stallion Fabio graced the covers and filled the fantasies of women everywhere. Could this Malcolm Scorpio be the best selling author. Time will tell, dear watchers, time will tell."
"OH MY GOD!" Kate said her eyes closing as she realized what she had unleashed. She would be lucky to not be sued by this man and he was the police commissioner. "What have I done?"
"You know who wrote my books?" Olivia asked. Seeing Kate's surprise, she reluctantly told her. "I got hooked because Dante got me one for Christmas two years ago. They are good, but there is no way that the writer is a man."
"I thought about that, maybe its him and his ex-wife, she writes the love scene and he does the rest." She said.
"No, its the same voice, you know that writers have a certain voice that they write in." Olivia replied.
Thinking on it, Kate handed her the file she had created and said, "I need to find the real writer and quick because I am in trouble, because Malcolm Scorpio is a real person, and he is the police commissioner."
Thinking on what her son had told her about his personnel shopper, she said "Dante happened to mention to his shopper yesterday that he graduated from the police academy. She told him that her father is the police commissioner."
Kate winced, but at least she had a way in to talk to the man, because she was certain that without this Maxie's help, she was going to have to rely on Jax and she was sure that he wasn't going to be too happy with her after what was going to happen tomorrow. There was no chance, none that the press was not going to descend on Port Charles and since she was a guest at his hotel, that meant they were going to camping out in the lobby looking for her.
Maxie and Jax were silent as they listened to Patrick and Robin explaining about how they had ended up married. Robin insisting on getting an annulment and Patrick saying that they were staying married.
"Wait, you met the famous Ranger the bounty hunter?" Felicia asked with a sparkle in her eyes.
"Yes." Was Robin's smug response. "Wow. Wait, how do you know of him?"
"He and his men are well known. They aren't only bounty hunters they also provide security and other select services." Felicia told Robin. "So, rumor is he can heat up a room by entering it."
"Yup and he seems to have a thing for this Stephanie Plum." Robin reported, she could see Mac's glare but she wanted to keep the conversation on something, anything other than her marriage.
"A the bombshell bounty hunter." Felicia then told them about her history with cars. "Rumor is, she got one of his vehicles, a brand-new Porsche flattened by a garbage truck and then it blew up from the bomb that was reportedly inside of it."
"No, way." Maxie said and she quickly went silent when she saw her dad's ire turning her way.
There was a sudden sound of two cell phones ringing and then her dad's phone rang. Robin and Patrick announced they had to leave and Mac hung up his own phone and said "That was Harper. Someone just tried to rob a convenience store and when they tried to escape, they took out a postal box, two newspaper boxes and a fire hydrant before hitting a pizza delivery driver. I have got to go. You two, we will be talking about this marriage nonsense and figuring out how to rectify this situation.
"Thanks Mac." Robin said, glad he was on her side even as she went to find a raincoat since an umbrella would be useless.
"I am talking to those two." He said pointing at Maxie and Jax while handing Patrick his spare anorak.
"Wait, Maxie you got married? To who?" Robin's eyes went wide as she took in the guilty expression on the face of the blonds seated at the table. "Oh my god, no wonder Mac took our news so well. You are in so much trouble."
"I can explain." Maxie weakly offered. "Its all, Carly's fault."
"Most things in life usually are." Robin stated then went to leave, as they exited the house, she could hear Felicia saying. "I need another bottle of wine, forget the wine, I need tequila."
Mac left a few second later, his siren and blue lights fading into the distance.
"Well, I think that that went rather well." Jax stated with a smile on his face. Seeing Maxie's disbelief, he said "I'm still alive."
"The night is still young, Jasper Jacks. The night is still young." Felicia said and Jax gulped as he saw the murderous way she was looking at him.
