Someone's going to Emergency, Someone's going to jail
Chapter 11
Elizabeth and Jason were standing in the doorway of her apartment, both feeling reluctant to separate. It had been a good day, they had cleared the air about a lot of things but both knew that they had challenges ahead. There were the unanswered questions regarding their missing memories, the unsettling experience that Jason had had with Carly being so truthful about her interest in Jason, the push and pull currently going on with Sonny.
"I guess, I need to go speak to Bobbie." Jason said with a slight sigh. "I wish that this wasn't happening, but she needs help."
"I am going to be spending the rest of the afternoon with Cameron and then after dinner, I have to make a call that I really don't want to." She said with grimace, then told him. "My father is insisting that we take care of that money set up for me years ago."
"I should be back after dinner tonight." Jason said. "Do you need some support for the call?"
""If you get back, I would love your company." Elizabeth said pressing a kiss to his lips then pushing him out as his phone rang. "And there is your siren's call."
Looking at the phone, he showed her the name and with a chuckle, quickly hurried down the hall and exiting the apartment building. Driving across town, he pulled up in front of the Jones family brownstone and loped up the stairs to knock on the door.
"Thanks Jason." Bobbie soberly said. "I need to talk to you about the sale but also about Carly. I had an interesting conversation with my daughter that I need to tell you about."
The two settled down and Jason handed her the contract that Diane had drawn up. "I was expecting this and I spoke to my attorney."
"I wish it wasn't necessary." Bobbie said biting her lips. "Alexis did the work pro bono to get me control of his estate such as it is. Tracy washed her hands of him, started divorce proceedings, and if I don't do this, he is going to end up at County Hospital. "Thank you, Jason. You have always treated me fairly."
"Take these papers to Alexis or whomever is dealing with this for you." Jason was about to get up to leave when Bobbie said "I need to tell you about a conversation I had with Carly this morning. Sonny and she had a meeting and she agreed to give up custody of the boys, for five million dollars. The part that concerns me was she agreed to a million for Morgan and when Sonny asked about Michael, she agreed for another four. Its the reason she gave that concerns me."
"She believes that you and she will get together and that you will want to adopt Michael, that she..."
"Bobbie." Jason gently stopped her and told the woman. "She told me the same thing, minus the selling the boys to Sonny. "She has been falling apart for the last few months. I am not going to step in, because like she confessed, that is what she wants me to do."
"I agree." Bobbie said wiping the tear falling onto her cheek. "Sonny and you have been protecting Carly for years, if she had faced the consequences of her actions years ago, my daughter has a single minded focus and she doesn't take no for an answer. Just, be careful Jason. She is almost to the point where she feels she has nothing to lose and when that happens, I fear for not only you but Elizabeth."
Jason stopped in at the warehouse, the men were preparing for the storm that the weatherman said was coming their way. As they offloaded the coffee shipment, Jason saw what looked like Johnny stalking Kelly's and let out a quiet chuckle. Young Mr Zacchara was clearly terrified of the younger Jones girl, and Jason found it amusing.
Sean and Francis had reminded him of her ability to shoot, something that he had known but that since it wasn't any one else's business, had kept quiet about. Mac Scorpio had raised both of the Jones girls with the ability to shoot and to take care of themselves. Jason wasn't that fond of the man but he did feel as if he had raised his girls right.
"Jason." Seeing Stan in the doorway of the office, Jason joined him and asked about this computer geek. "Marco has one of your out of town people bird dogging him. Since he was released, he has been hanging around the college campus. I found that he has used the returning students to cover for his being back in Port Charles. What I find interesting is his internet activities. For the first few days, he was looking into where Sam McCall was."
"Are we vulnerable to her escaping?" Jason inquired.
"No, and Spinelli seems to have figured out that she is really a patient there." Stan replied. "He seems to have resettled his interest onto Lulu Spencer."
"Hey, boss." Marco entered the office and told the two of them. "You need to see the news footage, I got a call from a contact at the sheriff's department and got early access to it. Carly attacked Jax and Maxie Jones at the private hanger at the airport."
Stan pulled up the local news footage, then the hanger footage and they all saw the vicious blond rushing towards someone they couldn't see and then her being pulled off of them by three deputy sheriffs and the Aussie. "What the hell?"
"And that isn't even the best part." Marco told them. "She hired two of Lorenzo Alcazar's people to kidnap Jax and drug him with the intent of marrying him. It apparently went very badly for some unknown reason and they went to their boss. He got them out of town, and my guess is that they disappear but he reached out to Maximus to deal with the man Carly had been blackmailing into helping her."
"Sonny is going to flip." Jason announced with a grimace, he quickly told them what he had heard about Carly and the boys.
"You know that he has never taken the boys along to Italy." Jason added. "This tells me that he is scared. That he knows that they are watching. Let Sean and Francis know."
A few minutes later, Jason was getting ready to leave when his phone rang. "Morgan."
"Don't rescue her." Sonny said then quickly hung up before Jason could tell him that he had no intention of doing so.
Johnny was stalking the small diner that the woman he had missed was working in. He had seen the late lunch crowd come and go. Georgie's cousin entering with another woman ranting as she walked in and laughing and horrified as she walked out.
He had seen Morgan with his ladylove and their son, both looking much happier than they had a short time ago. He had seen the man's partner go the warehouse and speak to someone then leaving, he had heard him telling someone to not give his ex-wife any extra funds.
He had watched as Georgie's ex-boyfriend and his stepsister slash girlfriend come and stay for a half hour then leave, the two of them sounding annoyed with one another. The young woman was clearly trying to convince the blond with the really bad haircut to help her with something.
What he hadn't seen was Georgie herself because he was staying out of sight, wanting a chance to talk to her without a crowd overhearing them speaking. When he saw Morgan again, then saw the warehouse staff battening down the hatches as the storm began to roll in.
He had seen a large amount of strangers coming and going. He had watched as his keeper went into an old rundown building that he had seen a man skulking around and entering earlier. Sean and his friend had left and then the other man had gone to get into a car parked in the alleyway as the storm hit.
Elizabeth was wiping the tray and finishing cleaning up the kitchen after feeding Cameron, her mind on the odd message she had found on her voicemail from Robin's mother Anna. The woman had mentioned coming to town to talk to her about something in the past.
Her son was a messy eater especially when it came to his favorite, macaroni and cheese so she checked the floor before deciding that the kitchen was clean enough. As she exited the room, she turned off the light and was heading towards the living room when she heard Jason entering the apartment. "Hey."
The two of them met near the sofa, and Jason gently pressed a kiss to Elizabeth's lips and then pulled her into his arms with a heavy sigh. "Bobbie is worried, about Carly and considers her a threat to us. I have asked a few old friends to take a look into things, we need to talk about security. I also would like to ask my attorney to look into finding us a new house."
Elizabeth was about to answer when her phone rang. With a sigh, she sat down and pulled Jason down next to her. "Hello Dad."
"Elizabeth." She couldn't help feeling the tug on her heart at the same time as the anger at how he had abandoned her. "I know from talking to Audrey and your brother that you don't want the money. I get it, I do. I am sorry. For so many things."
"Dad, I have made it this far on my own. I don't need your handouts." She coldly informed the man.
"Elizabeth, its not a handout. This was money that was meant to support you when you were a kid, to pay for your college, to help you get a start in life. I know you don't believe it, but I do, I do love you."
She was silent and so was he for a minute then he said "Your mom, she has written you so many letters and then ripped them up. She can't find the words. Sarah was always easy. A pretty bauble, a fancy present, and she was fine with us not spending time with her. With the change in staff. You, I get it, we took away your sense of stability. Its why I arranged for you to stay in Colorado. You had friends there..."
Elizabeth bit her tongue, wanting to say why couldn't she have parents instead.
Feeling Jason uncurling her fist and threading his fingers through hers in a sign of support, Elizabeth finally spoke. "Dad, I spent years wanting parents, that was all I ever wanted. You took that away from us, and threw money at the problem. The problem however was your children. We deserved more. I deserved more."
There was silence then her father said "You're right. Steven was right."
"Dad. I spent years chasing what I thought was a need to be part of something, anything. I felt a sense of abandonment so desperately that I let myself remarry a man I knew had held a woman hostage in my own home. I almost married Lucky Spencer in spite of knowing that he would never be the man I needed him to be. I walked away from someone who loved me because I felt he was keeping secrets that as a result of the way you raised me, hurt. I don't know how you could walk away from your children for your career, I spent the last year in therapy and I still have no answers for what you did but I am working on healing myself."
Hearing silence from the man through the phone and a moment of held breath from the man next to her, Elizabeth told Jeff. "All I can say is that I am going to do my best to be a better parent than you ever were. I will take your money, put it in a trust for my son and any other future children I have. I would have just preferred time with you more than any monetary support. All I know is that I have never felt as if I was enough for anyone to love without twisting myself into a pretzel and you caused that. I love you but I really don't like you. Have a good night."
Elizabeth hung up the phone, resting her forehead on Jason's chest and breathing a sigh of relief.
"You do know, that you were loved when you lived in the penthouse, right?" Jason asked quietly. "I screwed up so badly. All I have are regrets about that time."
"Jason, I have loved you since you were staying with me that Christmas when you were shot." She confessed. "I spent the next several years torn between my love for you and what I felt was my duty to save Lucky. Funny thing is, they say that Lucky was brainwashed by Helena but I was brainwashed by the entire Spencer family. When I ended things with Lucky at the end of the last year, it felt as if a heavy burden had been lifted from my shoulders."
She then told him. "Ric was the result of what happened with my parents. I was feeling lost and alone and he played me so well. Now, from watching him with Alexis, I saw he did the same to her. I felt foolish and just wanted someone to love me for me. Yet, thanks to the agenda of your best friends, and Ric, I in my stubbornness, fell for his lies."
Jason gently kissed her again then said "I know. You and I discussed this that night at Kelly's. When I got my memory back, I knew something wasn't right but was sure that you were trying to give Cameron a family. I wish that I could help you recall what you forgot, because that night, now that I remember it, its unforgettable. We talked a lot of
stuff through."
Elizabeth heard the rumble of the thunder and told Jason. "I have to bring Cam to the living room; he doesn't like thunder."
"I will get him." He said and Elizabeth went to set up his playpen for him to sleep in. When Jason had tucked him in and Elizabeth had wrapped a light blanket around him, she lifted the remote and turned the television on to help drown out the sound of the thunder.
Finding a DVD, she said "This should do."
Jason blinked at the sounds coming from the television and Elizabeth laughed and told him. "Your mother got him hooked on the Muppets."
"Why is there a frog dating a pig?" He asked with a strange look on his face. "And what is up with that thing, what is it?"
"That is Fozzy Bear, thankfully, while Cameron likes the music, he isn't into the characters. I convinced your parents that if the Wiggles crossed his path, I would make them take him to one of their concerts. Monica thankfully one watched one episode before she got it. Now, I am working on Maxie Jones who thinks its amusing to play them for him."
"What is up with the Jones girl" Jason asked.
"Which one?" Elizabeth asked.
"Francis knows a secret about Georgie, one that he says if Sean or I figure out, he will donate 50K to our favorite charity."
"I can't tell you." she said wearing a twitching smile. "And, yes I do know. So does Robin, your sister, and Maxie."
"That fine, I was only thinking on Johnny Zacchara, he thinks she is avoiding him." He replied. "I was thinking that it might help..."
"Nope, not going to work, Jason." She said with a chuckle as she got comfortable next to him on the sofa. "Anyhow, its not my secret."
Georgie heard the storm hitting and was glad to see that there was no one in the diner. "Bobbie said to close if there was no one here."
Turning to grab the ketchup bottles, she heard the ding of the bell and couldn't help mentally screaming no, as she turned around only to see Johnny Zacchara standing there soaking wet. Annoyed to be noticing how good he looked with his clothes sticking to him and water dripping from his curls. "May I help you with something?"
Johnny froze at her short tone and the defensive way she had crossed her arms while her face showed that she was very unhappy with him and he found himself saying "Yes, I would like to buy two tickets to the zoo."
"Well, I am all out of zoo admission tickets, might I suggest the restaurant at the Metrocourt? Maybe for your wife and yourself?"
That had him looking at her, what on earth was she talking about, she knew he wasn't married.
"Georgie, I am going to start breaking things down." The cook said before noticing the customer. "Unless, you need something to eat?"
"No, he doesn't." Georgie replied.
"Yes, he does." Johnny answered.
"I have the right to refuse service to anyone I want." She snapped.
Johnny's eyes didn't leave her and he asked "I would like two eggs, scrambled, some bacon, home fries, toast, and a cup of coffee."
"Georgie?" The cook sounded nervous and Johnny saw his eyes going between the angry woman and himself.
"You can eat and then get out." Georgie replied then with a sigh as she saw the water he was dripping on the floor, she pointed to the of the chairs at the counter and said "Sit there."
Heading upstairs, she grabbed one of the towels, came back downstairs, threw it at Johnny and spoke. "Dry up, while I get you your coffee."
When the coffee cup banged down in front of him and he heard the sound of coffee being poured into it as he used the offered towel to dry off, he thanked her only to be told shut up.
Once as dry as he could be, he neatly folded the towel and sat back down, there was no words between them as she continued with closing the diner and the cook preparing his food. Once it was done, Georgie sat it down in front of him with a bowl of small jelly jackets and refilled his coffee. "Fred, thanks. I can handle it from here. Go home."
"Thanks Georgie. I only have to wipe down the pan I used to cook his food. I didn't use the grill. Plus take out the trash from in back." With that, Johnny ate his toast, and his slivers of bacon then asked for ketchup. Georgie sat a bottle down and soon had the diner cleaned as Johnny finished eating.
"I should have know." She said sounding annoyed while waving at Fred who was leaving. "You would be the sort to eat ketchup on your eggs."
Blinking at the sound of disgust, he said. "Just how do you eat your eggs."
"Not with ketchup." She said then gave him his check. "That will be eight fifty please."
"Can I get a coffee refill." He asked.
"Sure, I will put it in a to go cup." She said with a nasty little smile.
"Georgie, what is going on. I know that I owe you an explanation for not calling but you are acting as if you hate me." He quietly said watching as the cook backed out of the parking lot, just as lightning struck nearby. "That was close."
"Spoon Island." Georgie said as she moved towards the window just as the electricity flickered. "Why would I hate you?"
"Why don't you tell me, because you are the one acting like I am the devil." He said sounding hurt.
"Sorry, but I don't want to be any man's mistress and I especially don't want to be a married man's mistress."
"Georgie, I am not married." Johnny said. "You know that."
"That is not what I heard. Your father arranged for you to get married before he died." She said, he heard the hurt tone in her voice and then thought about her words.
"No, my dad..." Johnny laughed and then said "My dad arranged for my sister to get married, not me. He had me kidnapped and sent to our island to keep me safe. I had to wait until a boat showed up to escape back home about two weeks ago."
Helena Cassadine left the island just as lightning hit the stables, setting them ablaze. Amused as she thought of them burning down as one more tie being cut between her grandson and this wretched place, she was soon being tossed about as the launch too twice as long as usual to arrive at the pier.
Annoyed to see that her limo hadn't arrived, she looked around, there were not a lot of choices to escape the rain, that grubby little diner, the warehouse that the local mob ran or a building she would never consider entering, she was about to give into her need to be dry when the limo finally arrived.
Getting in, she didn't look at the driver, or she would have noticed that it was her grandson's butler. "Driver, why aren't we moving?"
There was no answer then the window began to roll down. Helena was nervous when she first saw the silencer on the barrel of the gun, only to be told "His highness sends his regrets."
Helena knew she had no choice, but before she could even attempt to get out of the limo, she was shot in the upper shoulder. Her own gun in her hand, she shot Alfred in the head, then shot the window only to realize, it didn't solve her problem. She was still stuck in the backseat of the limo unless she wanted to climb out the window and it had shards of glass sticking up.
Georgie wanted to believe him, but she was hurting and feeling guilty about that, so she said "Well, that's fine, its your business, after all."
"Georgie." He said then told her. "I missed you. I am sorry, but it was unavoidable."
"Sorry, do I know you?" She asked wanting to hurt him. "Oh, you remind me of this person I met a while ago, so, how are you?"
She could see Johnny was annoyed but had to struggle not to laugh when he replied sarcastically "Oh, you know, just living the dream—if that dream involves getting kidnapped, forced go to a meeting and ordered where to live, trying my hand at adulting when I don't know what I want to do for a job, while being answerable to a man who takes pleasure in telling me how my girlfriend can out shoot me and that she has an overprotective father who used to be a mercenary who can kill me twenty different ways without being detected. Then there is the fact that I can't find a place to live and one of my keepers doesn't want me living that close to his ladylove. Oh, and then there is the fact that I have inherited scads and scads of filthy money that I have no idea how to manage and to be quite honest, I don't care if I lost it all. Plus said girlfriend for some reason is rather irate at myself and then there are the feral angry butterflies chasing me around."
Georgie was still on the girlfriend who could out shoot him, that one hurt. He had a girlfriend and it wasn't her. Wait, what? "Angry butterflies?"
"Just seeing if you are paying attention." He said with a wry grin. "So, what do you say?"
"Shouldn't you be home with your girlfriend?" She asked annoyed.
"You have got to be the most obtuse, annoying woman I have ever met, and we still need to talk about your hair. Wait, was Sean just riling me up, he told me that Mac used to take you to the gun range."
Georgie blinked at that and then blushing looked at Johnny and said "If I am your girlfriend, you are a lousy boyfriend, Johnny. Its been weeks since I heard from you. And what did your friend Sean tell you?"
"That Morgan's guards used to bet on your score at the gun range."
"Really?" She asked then shrugging said "I didn't know that but yes, my dad taught both Maxie and myself how to shoot. I just have really good eye hand coordination and what about my hair?"
With a slight smile, he told her. "I uh, I like it. I keep imagining running my hands through it."
"Oh, well, I was mad at you." She informed him. "So I cut it myself."
Jason maneuvered Elizabeth until she was in his arms and was about to tell her what Sonny had said about Carly when there was a knock on her door and to his annoyance someone tumbling the locks.
"Elizabeth?" The woman entering with long black hair and an English accent said "Ah, sorry but we need to talk."
"Anna? I got your message but wasn't expecting you this quick." Elizabeth said. "What is going on?"
"I got a call from Maxie this morning and she told me a bit about your memory issues and I am rather afraid that I might be partly responsible for them. So, I dropped my suitcase and my wet coat at my daughter's empty apartment and came right over." She told them. Seeing the anger on Morgan's face, she held up her hand and said "Let me tell you what I know."
Seated in the chair closest to the door, she looked over at Cam and said "Robin adores that little man over there, says he looks just like you. Now, let me fill you in and then I have to go referee between the newly married couple."
"Anyhow, as I said, I got a call from Maxie this morning. And I did some looking into things and found out that Luke Spencer was given two doses of a drug that Robert had told him about. According to him to help him deal with Helena." She said then told them. "From what Maxie said, the timing is coincidentally around the time that the two of you forgot your memories."
"Maxie called you about this?" Elizabeth asked as they heard the wind and the rain hitting the window.
"It was about something else, but we were talking and she asked about them." Anna smoothly kept Maxie's secrets, amused at what Mac's daughter had done to the bane of her daughter's past. "I spoke to Frisco Jones, who talked to Donnelly. He had ordered all agents to give Luke no more help after Laura and he had gone to him for drugs to make it look as if you had died. I was supposedly dead at the same time, so I was unaware of the directive."
"Why would the WSB care?" Jason flatly inquired.
"Donnelly cared because he feared what Luke was up to." Anna replied. "Elizabeth, Sean has had doubts about Luke's stability after Lucky died in that fire. He had people in town about the same time and didn't like how they were pressuring you to help Lucky. He had considered kidnapping you outright to take you from the middle of the situation. He said that Luke was obsessed with your relationship with Lucky. With you being with Lucky. I didn't know of any of this."
Anna then told them. "Helena was not a threat at the time, and Luke knew that. I think that Luke drugged you."
"But I wasn't around Lucky at the time." Elizabeth pointed out. "I was divorced from Ric and Lucky and I were barely friends. We were mainly supporting Nik and Emily at the time."
"I did some research and I think that as long as you weren't with Morgan, Luke didn't care." Anna replied. "I was wondering if it had something to do with Bobbie's daughter but there is nothing but mutual loathing there. He helped her blackmail Jax but that was mutually beneficial."
"I have my memories back." Jason said quietly as he watched Cam rustling at the sound of the thunder then settle back down. "Elizabeth, remember what Father Coates said about confessional. Would Luke confess something to force the priest to stay quiet?"
"Yes, he would." Anna grimly replied. "But what did he do and why did he do it?"
"I am not sure." Elizabeth said then biting her lip told Jason and Robin's mom. "I do know a secret though. One that Luke isn't aware that I know."
Seeing their interest, she told them. "I stole the Ice Princess."
Anna's jaw dropped and Jason blinked in shock. "What?"
"I hated that thing, I stole it when I fled to Sonny's island." Elizabeth then told them the rest. "The thing is, it was a fake."
"Wait, what?" Jason asked.
"Luke claimed to have it, was using it to supposedly deprogram Lucky. He claimed to be healed, and I was leaving anyhow, I intended to throw it overboard in the middle of the ocean. But I was so angry at what I gave up to save someone I didn't love, someone I found myself angry at. And, I borrowed a hammer that one of the crew was using and thinking it was a diamond and that it wouldn't do any damage but let me release my rage, that I wanted to hit it with the hammer. It shattered instead."
"So, where is the real Ice Princess?" Anna asked. "Helena is looking for it, Luke was tortured by her for it and your pal Nik wants it cut up and into smaller pieces. Plus, Jerry Jacks is in town and from what our people are saying, he is also looking for it. He by the way is who sunk the Haunted Star."
"Anna, about my memories, is there a chance I will ever get them back?" Elizabeth asked.
With a somber expression, Anna told her. "The drug given to you put you in a highly suggestive state. My guess is that if you were put back under, you might get your memories back, but I wouldn't want to risk it. Mainly because we don't know what else he told you and if you would possibly obey the directive."
Elizabeth raised her head and said "That might explain my getting back with Lucky. It never made any sense. Plus for the longest time I felt the need to avoid Jason."
"With Luke in a coma, I doubt we ever know what he did." Anna replied. "Now, I have to go talk to my daughter, I heard the oddest rumors at the airport. Maxie marrying Jax, Mac is the new lead of a romance novel or the author of one. I need to go talk to Mac, find out if he has been keeping secrets."
Elizabeth's shoulders were trembling as Anna exited and Jason looked at her as she laughed. "Poor Mac."
Georgie went to the door and locked it, telling Johnny. "Please tell me that you didn't come here in a limo?"
"No." He said then told her. "My car is parked next to your Jeep."
Georgie had closed the register down and put everything in Bobbie's office when they heard the nearby sound of a crack and then a loud thud. The lights flickered yet again and this time they stayed out except those powered by the emergency generator. "Thank goodness, Bobbie ignored Luke and bought that generator."
"Stay here." Johnny stuck his head out the door and told Georgie. "Well the limo is still here and there is a tree across the driveway exit to the parking lot."
"Not the pine tree." She said sounding annoyed. "Bobbie has been saying she wanted to get that cut for ages. Can your car drive over the edge, I could try with mine."
"Georgie, your car is an SUV in name only." He replied. Seeing her glare, he added. "Its very pretty but if you were to try you would tear apart your muffler at the very least. More than likely you would get stuck when you tried to go down the large retaining wall. And I wouldn't want to risk it with mine."
"Guess we are spending the night here. Good thing Bobbie's service came in and cleaned the rooms this week." She said as she told him. "Don't use 2, that room is kept open for Lucky, and god only knows what he has in it. I have to go get my overnight bag from my jeep."
"Give me your keys, I have one in the trunk of my car as well." He said then when she pulled her keys out of her purse, he said "With these new electronic keeps, you need to get rid of some of this excess key chain weight."
"My dad has been telling me the same thing, but thankfully, in a week, the keys for this place are gone and that is about four of those." She said as she told him. "I am going to unlock 1 and 4."
"Why." He said as he ducked out the door and towards their vehicles. On the return trip, he detoured to the limo and was pale when he returned to the diner. "Georgie, you need to call your dad."
"Why?" She asked coming back down the stairs. "I sent him a text earlier and he knows that I am considering staying here tonight."
"Because there are two dead bodies in that limo. A gray haired man in a suit and an elderly lady in the back seat. Both are holding guns and the man was shot in the head and it looks as if the woman bled out." Johnny said.
"Wait, an elderly woman, describe her." When Johnny had done so, she turned white and said "Call whoever is taking care of things. That is Helena Cassadine."
"Georgie?"
"Just do it, Johnny. I will explain later." She said and listened as he called Sean who told him to keep out of it. That he would handle everything. The couple went up the stairs, Johnny once again drying off and this time changing into sweats and a t-shirt before going looking for Georgie.
His heart stopped when he saw her standing with her back to him, the bare expanse causing his heart to stop as she soon covered it with a t-shirt of her own.
It was barely six thirty and Johnny was counting the hours until they could leave, because he was determined that by the next time Georgie and he made love, they would be at least halfway to knowing each other.
"So, other than cutting your hair, what did you do while I was being kidnapped twice?" He asked as they settled down in the chairs. Johnny lifted her feet into his lap when he noticed they were cold. Going back to the other room and returning with the old fashioned bed spread he wrapped it around her and then got the one from the bed in this room and wrapped it around himself.
"I spent it perfecting my skills at procrastination, having philosophical discussions with a three year old, perfecting nap time, gaining impressive knowledge of the movies of William Powell and Myrna Loy, organizing my closet and bookshelf by color, which impressed my sister and had my father ready to have my committed along side Sam McCall. Gave my father a heart attack and to top it all off worked on writing my latest version of the great American novel."
"That's all. And your father seems to have survived the heart attack. He by the way doesn't know that I know you and he offered me a job." He said. "As what, he didn't say, but I am certain when he finds out we are seeing one another, that I not only have to look for a different job but that I end up in one of his jail cells."
Georgie moaned, what Johnny was doing to her sore feet should be considered illegal. "Dad's got bigger fish to fry. Robin got married today and apparently Maxie for some reason high-jacked a jet."
Blinking, he said "Why would your sister do that?"
"It's Maxie, she probably wanted to go to some really great shoe sale in Toronto." Georgie said with a laugh. "No, I have no idea what is going on with that one. Last I knew, she was excited to meet someone named Kate Howard. As for Jax, I think she has a little crush on him, she has been mentioning him a lot lately. Too bad, he is I think about fifteen years older than her because otherwise, I think he would be perfect for her."
"Why?" He asked wanting to understand her family. On the surface they seemed perfectly normal but the more he heard of them, the more he realized that they were anything but.
"Maxie needs someone with patience and huge closets." She said with a laugh then got serious. "Jax is a good guy, he's good looking, kind, and has had some absolutely terrible relationships including with Brenda Barrett so he would be able to deal with Maxie's interest in fashion. He also isn't expecting perfection; he seems to understand that people have flaws. Maxie needs someone steadying, and yet, he likes adventures. Plus, Maxie has a serious complex where she questions that she lived, and BJ died."
Seeing his confusion, Georgie filled him in on her sister's heart transplant. "It overshadows everything that Maxie does. I think that she also feels guilty that she didn't have the grades to study medicine, but she had no interest in it. I tease her a lot about her interest in fashion and what is in and out, but she does know her stuff. When I needed a hair salon to fix my disaster, she knew immediately where to send me and where I would feel comfortable at."
"You love her." He said quietly.
"Yes, she is my sister. She drives me crazy and angry faster than anyone else on earth, but at heart, I not only love her, but for the most part, I like her." She simply replied. "Robin is more complicated, but she is always trying to live up to her Mum and Dad. Her Mum is a MILF, I once heard one of my classmates talking about Anna, she is mid-fifties and still absolutely beautiful. Robin is brilliant and smart and pretty but not beautiful. She is also living under the shadow of sickness. She lost her first boyfriend Stone to AIDS and she is HIV positive."
"What about your mom, I heard a lot about your dad, but not a lot about your mom." He said.
"Mom's mom. She is gone more than here, at least she has been for the last few years. She is a private investigator. A good one." Georgie replied. "My biological father went to work for the WSB long before I was born and then she met and fell in love with Mac. She messed up, and their marriage didn't recover because it involved Luke Spencer. She still stays at the house when she comes to town and dad and she have a good friendship, but she broke my dad's heart."
"And you can't forgive her for that?" Johnny asked taking a stab in the dark.
"It wasn't up to me to forgive her." She replied then told him. "What I find hard to forgive was that she took us away, too. For a few years. We gave her hell until she returned us. I was worried that Mac wouldn't want us, we weren't his, but the minute I felt his arms around me, I knew I was home. Mac is simply dad."
"Yet you use his first name as well as dad." Johnny said.
With a chuckle, she said "We also grew up in the police station and with Robin calling him Mac. What about you, any family other than those I already heard about."
With a shake of his head, he said "Dad had a brother, he killed him for the business. I have some distant cousins, but they are too distant to care. Mom was an only child."
Georgie could hear the loneliness in his words and putting her feet on the floor, she stood and pulled her chair forward, then went to his chair, it was challenging but soon had the two chairs together and had curled herself up in his arms listening to the storm as it continued outside. "I was mad at you, but I missed you too."
Eventually the storm went away, the rain slowed down to a light mist and Jason was carrying Cameron back to his bed. Standing in the doorway, he told Elizabeth. "We made a beautiful child; you do know that don't you."
"Yes. I do." She said as she tugged him towards her bedroom. Once inside, she saw his amusement and said "Hey, we fit on your sofa, we should fit in my bed."
"Why is it so small?" He asked.
"Its a full size bed." She told him defensively then with a laugh added. "I made a mistake when I ordered it. Grams offered to trade for one of the beds in her house, but I love the frame so until I can find a bigger frame just like it, it stays."
Mentally adding it to the list of things they needed, Jason pulled the sweats out of the bag he had dropped off earlier and told her regretfully. "I might have to go back out tonight. Sean, Marco and Francis have things pretty much under control but Marco is worried about Helena. For the first time in days, she is off her yacht and actively looking for the diamond."
Soon tucked into bed, Jason with his hands on her small stomach and told her. "We need to talk about getting married."
"I get why it's necessary but at the same time, Jason. I don't want our marriage to be about others." She softly told him. "So, why don't we go away someplace, get married and then figure out something."
Pressing a kiss to her lips, then reminding himself of his mental promise to make sure that when they make love again that it was forever, he told her. "Figure out what?"
"That is the part that I need to figure out." She replied.
Chuckling, Jason thought back to what he had heard her telling her father and told her. "Elizabeth, this is going to be forever."
"Jason, you can't promise that." She softly replied.
"I can promise that it will be forever as long as I am alive." He retorted. "I love you, Elizabeth Webber. I have for so very long. We have been lost, but now, we are found. I love you."
With a prayer and throwing caution to the wind, Elizabeth said "I love you, too, Jason Morgan."
"So, would you please marry me. Me, not the man whose name is on the marriage certificate." He asked.
"Yes, I will."
Johnny and Georgie were silent, then she realized that it was completely silent. "The storm ended and the generator turned off."
Sliding out of the chair, she went to the light switch and turned it on. The room was soon filled with brash yellow light from the cheap lightbulbs that Bobbie had in the room. "I have to go turn off the lights downstairs."
Sliding her sneakers on, she watched as Johnny followed her. He looked out the window and said "The limo is gone."
"What do you think happened?" She asked as she went through and turned everything including the coffee hot plate off dumping the dregs into the sink. Hearing the sound of knocking, Georgie saw Detective Harper. "Hey, David, what is going on?"
"Georgie, your father asked me to come and check up on you." He said only to see the man standing nearby and wearing no shoes. "Do you need me to give you a ride home?"
"No, but there is a tree across the driveway, we are going to need it removed to get home." She said with a sigh. "Aunt Bobbie is going to have to hire someone."
"Nope, I saw Morgan's people, they were heading towards it with chainsaws." He replied then told her. "Be careful, but the way, did you see the news?"
"No, why?" She asked and he only told her. "Go watch the news."
Georgie waited until he left and then heard the sound of Morgan's people cutting down the old pine tree. Returning upstairs, wishing her aunt had a television in the rooms, she thought about it and using the keys went to Lucky's room. Finding his laptop, she saw that it was password protected.
Sure enough, the password was his name. "Great protection there."
Johnny was looking around the room and said "What a dump."
"When his aunt upgraded the rest of the rooms, Lucky didn't want to move while she did his, this is the same its been since 1990."
Georgie went to the first local news channel and there wasn't anything of interest, the second one had her eyes widening as she laughed at Carly's arrest and then said "I wonder who Jax married?"
She wasn't sure what to expect when she saw a link labeled Malcolm Scorpio but what she saw had her eyes going wide and her mouth drying up as she gasped for breath. "We have got to go."
"Wait, what?" Johnny asked. "We can't, the tree is still across the parking lot."
Georgie went to the room and grabbed her phone, keys and threw them into her purse. She was a woman on a mission and nothing was going to get in her way. Johnny was still pulling his soaking wet sneakers back on when he realized that Georgie had gone out the rooming house door exit.
"What is she up to."
By the time, Johnny had caught up to Georgie, she was running down the docks, heading towards only she knew where. "Stop, Georgie."
She was soon darting down a nearby street, clearly angry as he found himself chasing her only to lose her near the local church. Johnny heard the shot, then felt his heart stop as he ran at full speed towards where he had lost Georgie.
She was standing there, holding a gun in her hand, with a silencer on it. "Georgie?"
She looked at him then at the man lying on the ground nearby. "He was crazy, threatening me. He thinks that I know where his plates are. When I suggested that he go home to his kitchen that I am sure he would find them there. He said for me to stop being a smart ass."
"Georgie, did you shoot him?" He gently inquired.
"I didn't mean to. He just, he just kept saying that he knows that the plates are in the backseat of my car. Yes, there were some plates, but I took them to the thrift store for Aunt Bobbie, a tenant left them when he moved out and she couldn't stand them. They were square and she called them pretentious. I can't believe I shot someone over plates."
"Georgie, where did you get the gun?" He asked.
"Oh, I found it on the ground, back when I was leaving the diner." She said. "I figured that it was from the shooting in the limo. That leaving it in the parking lot was a bad idea."
"Georgie, give me the gun, okay?" He spoke.
When she looked at the gun in her hand then at him. She said, "I am in big trouble, aren't I?"
Hearing the sounds of sirens, Johnny looked around grateful that the storm earlier that evening was keeping others inside and then ducked into the nearby church. "Georgie, go into the confessional, okay?"
"Why?" She asked still numb.
"Just do so." He said and then went to find a priest and to his relief, he found one that was more than willing to do what he asked. "Thank you, Father Mateo."
With that, Johnny returned to the confessional and spoke to Georgie. "Georgie, I could end up being a witness. We need to do this."
"Do what?" She asked still not with it.
"We need to get married, so that I can't be required to testify against you if you are arrested."
"Arrested?" She said sounding confused. "Okay, but my dad is going to have a fit."
A half hour later, Johnny was thanking the priest and made the call he knew he had to. "I have a problem. A big one. Get help to St Timothy's."
"Five minutes away."
When Sean entered the vestibule, he saw Georgie Jones looking out of it, Father Mateo smiling and Johnny looking like hell. The priest quickly nodded at them then left. "What happened?"
"The police are going to be showing up questioning us about a dead body." Johnny grimly replied. "Take care of this."
Sean took the gun with the silencer and said, "Who did you shoot?"
"Georgie did, and I didn't recognize the man." Johnny replied. "She told me she shot him."
"And did you do what I think you did?" Sean asked wanting to roll his eyes.
"Yes, I couldn't risk it." He replied.
"Go, to the Metrocourt, I will have a room arranged. Clothes too. Go, shower, and get your story straight. You got married earlier tonight."
"Won't work." Johnny grimly told him. "A Detective Harper saw us about forty minutes ago.
"We need the certificate backdated to the day you came back. Georgie was staying at a hotel, we are going to use this as the reason. You two had a fight, and tonight was about making up together." Sean told him.
"When you get to the Metrocourt, be seen and by as many people as possible." Francis said entering the building and carrying a bundle of clothes. "I borrowed some of Jason's clothes, so they are going to be black, Georgie, we really need to talk about that go bag of yours."
Seeing Johnny's interest, Francis told him. "Let's just say she is thorough. Change in the car on the way to the hotel, and remember what I said, be seen."
Jason was not happy to be awoken and would have ignored the call, but it said Irish.
"What is it?" He asked as he slipped out of bed, and to the living room. "Wait, what?"
"Johnny believes he needs to marry Georgie; she shot someone tonight." Sean told him. "The problem is that the man was looking for Robin, not Georgie. Janine hid the plates in Robin's car. We have them. Our people were getting ready to take the man out when he attacked the Jones girl."
"What happened?"
"We got the body out of there. The police were responding to a nearby call. A lunatic who was high as a kite was outside shooting the tires of his own vehicle. Claims that it was talking to him." Sean told him.
Jason hung up the phone, then thought about what they had found out. Maxie Jones was now married to Jasper Jacks, and Carly's part in it. Robin Scorpio married to Patrick Drake and how it had happened, not this. Jason couldn't believe it, he found himself really feeling sorry for Mac Scorpio
He couldn't help it, he began to laugh. Going into the hallway, so that Elizabeth and Cam wouldn't hear him, he tried to keep control, but everyone once in a while, he found himself laughing.
"Jason?" Turning to see his sister glaring at him. "What are you doing?"
He started to explain but to his amusement, he saw Robin exiting her own place and said "Nothing. Good night."
With that, he went back inside Elizabeth's apartment, and still snickering, went to check on his son and after covering him back up with his blanket, went to join Elizabeth in her bed.
Across town, Georgie who was still in shock at shooting someone, entered the Metrocourt hotel. It was barely eleven o'clock and she was not tired, but not ready to deal with anyone just yet. Johnny was silently walking behind her carrying the room key that Francis had given to him.
Arriving at the bar, she went to where the bartender was and asked him. "What is the strongest most expensive shot you have.
"We have a Fillioux cognac for a 1000 dollars." The bartender promptly replied.
"No, don't like cognac. What else?" She asked.
"We have a Johnny Walker Diamond Jubilee." She was told.
Wrinkling her nose, she said "Is it blended or single malt, because I really don't like blended." she replied.
Without blinking an eye, he said "Well there is the Macallan Single Malt, sixty year old."
"So, its' older than I am." She said then gave him her credit card and said, "Two shots please."
Johnny sat down next to his 'wife' and said "Maybe you should let me put this in my card."
"If you want, you can pay for the next round." She said as she watched the bartender pour the shots. When she had drunk the first one, Johnny went to reach for the second only to have her say. "Nope, that is mine too."
With that, she drank the 2nd shot and told the bartender. "My husband is going to be paying for the rest of the bottle."
Giggling, she said. "My dad is going to kill me. You do know that don't you."
Johnny handed over his credit card, giving the man a large tip for dealing with them and then watched as his wife handed him one of the two clean glasses and poured them each a shot. "You know, this isn't half bad."
"If you have never had it, why did you order it." He asked.
"I wanted to try something new." She said. "Before this, the only other night that I have ever drank anything, Tequila was okay, but the night got better. I took home this hot Italian guy. Tonight, since I married that one, I decided to try something else new."
"Maybe we should see if the kitchen is still open?" He suggested.
"I will see what they have available." The bartender said as he walked away.
To Johnny's surprise, they offered up anything on the menu. Georgie and he ordered burgers and fries and were soon eating. It was almost midnight and to his surprise, Georgie had only had one more shot then she leaned in and told him. "Do you have any idea what you do to me. You have taken over my thoughts and all I can think about when I do about such things, is you, having you as you had me."
"Fuck, Georgie." he hissed, his body reacting to what she was telling him. "You can't tell me things like that when there is nothing I can do about them."
"We have a hotel room." She pointed out. Georgie was finishing her late dinner while Johnny went to settle up with their waitress and ask the bartender to take care of the expensive bottle of scotch they had bought when he heard his wife telling him that she would be right back.
Seeing the dark haired woman standing there speaking to a waiter, he saw Georgie had once again left at full speed. "What on earth?"
"You bitch!"
Johnny heard his wife's voice and followed the sound to a nearby corridor. There was a thin blond woman who was holding up her hands to defend herself while his wife was beating on her with her purse. "Georgie, what are you doing?"
She turned to look at him and said "Do you know who this is?"
"No, do you?" He asked.
"This woman, this bitch is trying to ruin my dad's life." She snarled.
"Look, you crazy person, I don't even know who you are let alone you dad." Kate snapped only to be smacked again with a purse. To her annoyance it was a purse she herself had recommended for its roominess and ability to keep shape. "And you are going to ruin that Fendi purse."
"Seriously?" Georgie snapped. "You should be worried that I am going to do a hell of a lot more than beat you with my purse, you lying gossip monger. You are going to apologize and take it back."
"You need help." Kate said trying to escape. All she had wanted was a piece of strawberry cheesecake, and instead she was being attacked by an escaped mental patient.
"Georgie Jones what the hell do you think you are doing?" When Mac had gotten the call he had come down himself, expecting to be arresting Carly or even her good friend Courtney, not his daughter who clearly was having some sort of breakdown.
His mind idly couldn't help thinking he really needed to have the pipes in his house checked for lead, because otherwise he had no other explanation for his day. As he tuned back into the insults being tossed by his daughter at the blond woman, he blinked and almost missed what happened next.
"You're nothing but a vacuous fashion plate, Becky!" Georgie snapped and suddenly the woman Georgie had been attacking attacked her demanding she take it back. "No, Becky, Becky Becky."
Johnny grabbed Georgie, while Mac found himself getting scratched by the blond who was thin but scrappy as she kept trying to reach for his daughter to get in another hit.
"Kate what are you doing?" Jax had had a long day and after having the odd experience of telling his wife goodnight and watching as she went up to bed, then he left her dad's house, he had driven to the hotel to find out what he had missed that day only to find his old friend in a girl fight with the more sensible and even tempered Jones girl.
"Why aren't you asking her what she is going?" She said as she stopped fighting and made an attempt to fix her hair.
"Well since your maligned her father to the press, my guess is that she was pissed off at what you told the press about her father. Mac, according to the news, your department has had a rough night." Jax said.
"I am guessing this is Kate Howard?" Mac asked looking at the woman with dislike.
She had flushed as she realized who the man was and then looking at the whirling dervish who had attacked her, and said "How on earth are you related to that sweet young Maxie Jones?"
"Well, it went like this." Georgie said with a sniping tone. "My mother and my father had sex, as far as Maxie and I are concerned only twice in their entire lives, Maxie was the result of the first time, I the second. My mother gave birth to me under the table of a blues club in a storm and I grew up. Now, would you please explain to me why you would even think of thinking that my dad was Sophie le Couer? Any brainless idiot could have told you differently."
"Who is Sophie le Couer?" Johnny asked looking at the others.
"What are you doing here?" Mac asked surprised to see the younger man.
"Sir, here is your bottle of scotch. I had it sent up to your room." The bartender said as he returned his credit card. "Oh, and your wife left her credit card as well."
Johnny didn't think, he just handed it off to his wife, then saw her eyes widen and then heard the blond man standing there gasp then chuckle before his father in law said "Well at least it wasn't that idiot Hornsby. I blame Alexis for this one."
Jax was relieved that things had settled down and that no one was getting arrested, well maybe Mac's new son in law only to see Georgie glare at Kate then with a smirk say. "You're right, your no Becky, your an outright Stacy."
He saw Kate staring then go red and before he could reach for her, she had smacked Georgie who hit the woman right back knocking her into Mac who ended up with an elbow to his nose breaking it.
"That does it. ENOUGH!" BOTH OF YOU ARE UNDER ARREST!"
Mac called down the station and had several officers respond. When they showed up, Mac said "Arrest the two woman and take the two men down to the station under a material witness order. No one is to talk to them until I arrive back from the hospital."
"Mac, Georgie is your daughter." Cruz said as he arrived. "You want me to arrest your daughter."
"Yes, I wish that I could have all three of my kids arrested but I will settle for just this one arrested, but no. Georgie. I am so disappointed in you, young lady. I have taught you better, violence is never the answer." He replied.
"Maybe it is, if you ask a different question." Kate replied only for Georgie to laugh.
"Both of them, in one of my cells." Mac ordered then said to Johnny. "And leave that bottle here."
With that, the police commissioner exited the hotel, went to the emergency room and after getting his nose taken care of, went to see Alan Quartermaine whose vehicle he had seen in the parking lot.
Entering the man's office, he said "Shouldn't you be home?"
"All your crazies ended up here, remember?" Alan said as he told him. "Four gun shot wounds. Three stabbings, two people ran over by cars. And Mrs Peabody claimed to be poisoned again, but she made herself sick drinking ipacac. A bottle that had been in her cupboard since the seventies."
"And equal number at Mercy and County." Mac said then told him. "My children went insane today."
"I heard about Robin." Alan said with a laugh offering the other man a bottle of coke. "My secret stash , if my wife knew I would be toast."
"Ah, that was the most sane experience I had with my children all day. Maxie got it into her head that Jasper Jacks needed saving from Carly Corinthos, and high jacked his jet and married him in Nova Scotia. Georgie for some unknown reason married the mob."
"Sonny?" Alan asked.
The horror on Mac's face told him no. "Who?"
"Only the Mob Prince." He told him as he took a huge drink of the caffeine filled beverage. "Though, Zacchara seems to have escaped it. And then there is the news that apparently in all my free time I have been writing best selling romance novels which was news to me."
"Monica told me about that. She says that the voice or something is wrong for it to be you." Alan said. "She did say that she could see you as one of the heroes in the books. I was a bit jealous until she shared why."
"I am not interested in your wife." Mac replied then said, "Wait, why?"
"A single hard working dad." Alan said. "She said you would make a great protagonist."
"Georgie started a fight tonight at the Metrocourt, with Kate Howard." Mac told him. "Its how I ended up with a broken nose and more than likely a black eye."
Chuckling, Alan said "You need a vacation, Mac."
"When I get to the bottom of what the hell went wrong today, I might just go on one." Mac said then told him. "I have Jacks and Zacchara down at the station on material witness orders. Drake more than likely is home in my third child's bed, or I would have him too."
"If you want him, he is down in the on call room in spite of my directive to go home. I would willingly turn him over to you." Alan said. "As long as you insured he wouldn't be back for at least forty eight hours."
"Deal, I will take him off your hands in trade for a week at your cabin on the lake next month." Mac replied.
