It was quiet, and Usagi couldn't help but stare even as her tears slowed, and she sucked in a shaky breath. She was staring at Mother…well, her original Mother from her previous life, and Usagi couldn't believe it; she thought she was maybe seeing things, maybe if just for a moment. "Mother…" Usagi asked again. She spoke, but her voice felt dry and unsure. Mars still held her hand, and all she could do was stare. Staring unsure if the sight she saw was even real.
"Serenity…" Mother spoke, and hearing her speak, Usagi could be sure or at least reassure herself that the woman standing there was real and not a vestige or a memory from the past. But seeing her again after all this time was still so surreal. It had been thousands of years since the day she died in her mother's arms, and Usagi had spent the last ten years thinking her Mother was dead.
"You're…alive?" Usagi spoke before she even registered that she had done so; she really couldn't believe it. This almost felt like a dream. Maybe this whole day had just been a horrible nightmare tormenting her with the ghosts and figments of her past, only to show her something that was truly unattainable at the end. Yet Usagi knew she was definitely not dreaming and that this…this was all real. It had been thousands of years since Usagi had last seen her mother, yet she had only lived fourteen of them, and it felt like she had lived them all at that moment. Usagi's throat was dry; she didn't know what to say, or what she could say for that matter.
"Yes," Was the only reply she got from her mother because there was a pause, and it was like there was something more her mother had to say. To her, the atmosphere was tense, and it had fallen quiet again. Part of Usagi wondered if it was her mother she was talking to or the Queen of the Moon. "Serenity, is this the path you chose?" Mother spoke after a few more seconds of silence. Usagi paused, unsure of what that meant. What was Mother referring to?
The path she chose? Usagi didn't understand what that meant, so she stood there silently thinking. "Do…you mean being a Senshi? If that's the case…yes, I suppose it is." Usagi spoke, knowing her answer must have sounded rather unsure. Usagi did her best to look her Mother in the eyes, those grey eyes that had always seemed all-knowing yet had been clouded with grief when she had lay in her Mother's arms dying. Now, they seemed to be filled with sorrow and worry, and maybe there was fear present as well. Usagi wondered if her Mother's eyes had always looked like this instead of all-knowing like she remembered she had just been too naive to notice.
"I see then…I have one more question for you, Serenity." She was unsure for a moment, but she was sure Mother had hesitated before speaking. For a moment, Mother had sounded afraid. "What's your name?"
Usagi faltered, and she was unsure why. Maybe because, in the heat of the moment, she had forgotten she wasn't Serenity anymore. Not truly, "I'm Tsukino Usagi"
_
"You know, even though you're the Moon Princess, you fit in quite well on Earth."
"You think?"
"Yeah, I feel like you'd do quite well as a Terrian."
Usagi slowly opened her eyes, still rather tired. She blinked a few times, adjusting to being well awake… She glanced at her alarm clock; well, that was strange; it was only six thirty. That was way too early for Usagi to be awake, but for some reason, she was. Usagi's eyes fell on Luna, who was still sleeping soundly on her bed; wow, for her to wake up before Luna was just plain weird; there was no way around it. Maybe it had something to do with everything that happened last night. Almost being killed, meeting your mother from your past life who you thought was dead, you know, normal stuff for a fourteen-year-old girl.
Usagi sighed. Who was she kidding? It was anything but normal. But she hadn't been normal for a long time. She guessed getting memories from your past life at four years old really did that to you. Usagi looked down, and she fidgeted with her hands a bit, thinking about…everything. But mostly, she was thinking about her mother… well, former mother. She couldn't believe she was still alive, that she got to meet her again. The fact that she did made her happy.
But it felt wrong to her to be so happy about it. She had a mother and father who had raised her in this life, and she loved them, of course. So why was she so happy about seeing Mother again when she already had a mother? It was times like these when she would have trouble knowing which person she was, Serenity or Usagi. "Usagi?"
Usagi looked up to see Luna, now awake, looking at her rather concerned and a bit shocked. She paused for a moment, a question at her lips, but she was unsure if she should ask the feline. No, she should. She knew Luna would give her an honest answer. "Luna, do you think it would be okay if I told my mom and dad… about everything?"
Usagi studied her feline companion's expression, watching it change, "You could. I would not, but it's your choice in the end."
"My choice…huh," Usagi muttered, the answer not being as cut and dry as she liked. "Then, do you think they'd hate me if they knew? If they knew I've lied to them all these years?" Usagi asked slowly, her voice betraying her and wavering a bit.
Luna smiled at her, "No, because no matter what, you're still their daughter."
Usagi paused at the simple answer before smiling softly, "You're right. I think I'll tell them then."
_
Usagi walked into the kitchen a bit nervously after having gotten dressed and ready as quickly as she could manage. She saw her father sitting at the kitchen table and her mother cooking breakfast. She could feel the nervous pit in her stomach because what if this didn't go well? Well, she wouldn't know until she told them, would she? "Good morning…Mama, Papa," Usagi spoke, gaining her parents' attention, and she wasn't surprised at the shocked looks they were giving her.
"Usagi… you're up early," Papa said almost incredibly. Usagi sighed and sat down in a chair at the kitchen table.
"I couldn't sleep, that's all, Papa." it fell quiet after she said this, and it was just a bit stifling. "Mama, Papa… can I tell you something important?" Usagi eventually asked, and this time, her mom turned away from her cooking,
"This better not be about school. Are you failing?"
Usagi shook her head, almost relieved that was the first thing her mom thought of, "No, no, it's not, Mama." Usagi paused, wondering how to start. How was she supposed to tell her mom and dad about her past life and all that normally? Maybe she should start with the simplest part of it.
"I'm Sailor Moon," Usagi said, maybe a bit abruptly, and now it was her mom's turn to look at her strangely.
"That's not very funny, Usagi, " her mom said, looking very unamused. Usagi wouldn't say she was expecting an answer like this, so it was fine.
Usagi gripped her brooch tightly and smiled. "But it's not a joke. See?" She paused, gathering her courage before she spoke again. "Moon Prism Power Make-Up," she whispered. In a flash, she was Sailor Moon again, and her dad and mom were looking at her very differently.
Her mom dropped the spatula she was holding and took a few shaking steps forward till she placed her hands on Usagi's shoulders. Usagi could see the fear in her mom's eyes. Not fear of her, but fear for her. "…Usagi, you all this time—"
"Yeah, but that's not all, mama," Usagi said, doing her best to continue smiling as her transformation dissipated and she was back to being her normal self. "The true identity of Sailor Moon is Princess Serenity of the Moon. That's who I was before I was killed and reborn as Usagi." Usagi paused and looked at her parents, the shock and confusion written all over their faces; taking a slow, shaking breath, she continued, "And I've known this since I was four. That night, when I woke up screaming, I remembered everything." Usagi paused again, one final time. "I'm sorry I lied to you all these years."
It was quiet, and that's when she noticed her mom was crying. She wondered if she should have done this after all. "Nonsense." Her mom said, "That's nonsense, Usagi, you weren't lying to us. We probably wouldn't have believed you before. So…"
Her mom grabbed Usagi's hands and clasped them tightly. "I want you to tell us everything about your life before."

Kunzite could only stare, his hands shaking; it had been bad enough watching as those most important to him were killed one by one. First, Jadeite, and then Nephrite. Now, his worst nightmare had come true because he started down at Zoisite, remaining the mangled and rotting flesh of his beloved. Kunzite felt empty. What was the point of this anymore? They were all gone.
Zoisite…
Maybe his Prince would be next; who knows, he didn't. He never really knew anything; oh, how he wished he had gone in Zoisite's stead yesterday. But he hadn't, and now he was gone. They were all gone. "Kunzite, my general of the Middle East… you're all that's left of the generals, now."
Kunzite brought his broken gaze up to the face of the wicked figure of his Queen, Beryl. Saying nothing he couldn't bring himself to. "But, I'm sure you're aware, Kunzite, that with the power of the Silver Crystal, they could all be brought back. Or, at the very least, I could bring your dear Zoisite back to you."
Kunzite stood still for a few moments before dropping onto one knee. "Then I, Kunzite, shall find it for you." Kunzite saw the smile that graced Queen Beryl's lips, which was cold and cruel.
"Very well, Kunzite, but first tonight, eliminate the Sailor Senshi once and for all." Queen Beryl spoke her voice, making it clear this was a command, one he was more than happy to oblige. "Take Endymion with you as well." Kunzite paused at these words, unsure for just a moment, as though there was a forgotten part of him that didn't want to put his Prince in danger, but Kunzite quickly brushed it aside as a cruel smile that mirrored his Queen's graced his lips. "Of course, my Queen."
Tonight, he and his Prince would engulf the city of Tokyo in darkness, and they would make sure it was the last night of Sailor Senshi's life.

Usagi sat at a table in a cafe between her two girlfriends. Swinging her legs back and forth as she recounted recent events, pretending like she did not see Venus and Mars in a booth not too far away. "So after that, I basically told my mom everything, well…almost," Usagi said as she took a bite of the sweet she had, and she hoped that her lovers wouldn't pry on what almost entailed.
"Love, are you sure it was a good idea to leave stuff out?" Michiru asked, carefully picking up her tea to take a sip from it as she eyed Usagi worriedly. Usagi, in turn, quickly waved her head in front of her face,
"I only left out the stuff that was hard to talk about, like you know…" Usagi trailed off awkwardly, not wanting to think about how she was tortured and then murdered. She couldn't even think about that, much less tell her parents about it.
"We understand, kitten. We're just worried, is all. I don't know if it was a good idea to tell them." Haruka spoke softly, and Usagi knew she was just worried for her. Usagi sighed and placed her spoon down.
"I don't regret my decision," Usagi said, speaking matter-of-factly because, at the very least, out of all the choices she'd made in her life. She was sure that this was a good one. Usagi heard Haruka sigh at her words, and she turned to glare at her lover a bit, though she wondered why she got such a reaction.
"Don't look at me like, kitten. I'm just worried about you. Not all of us have the best relationship with our parents after all." Haruka held her gaze, her eyes soft, and Usagi tilted her head to the side, a worried look appearing on her face.
"You don't, Haruka?" Usagi asked but didn't receive a response from Haruka; instead, Michiru sighed, placing her drink down. "It's nothing you need to worry about love." Michiru paused before continuing, "It's beside the point anyway; we wanted to tell you that Haruka and I will be leaving for a tour in a few days." Usagi paused at Michiru's words, which went quiet. Did she hear that correctly? Were they leaving? "I'm sorry it's sudden love, but it's been up in the air whether it was happening or not." Michiru paused again, turning and cupping Usagi's cheeks, caressing them softly, "We won't be gone too long, alright?"
"Alright… if you say so."

Minako walked beside her Princess with Rei, who was sticking close to her Princess's other side. They were heading to the control room to meet up with Ami, Makoto, and the Queen to continue the conversation from last night or, rather, start the conversation they hadn't got a chance to last night. Minako heard her Princess sigh, and she turned her head, smiling at her Princess, "It's okay, Usagi, they won't be gone too long."
Her Princess turned and looked at her, a bit confused, "Venus… why'd you call me by my name? You've never done that before." Minako heard Rei suppress a chuckle at the fact that their Princess had so quickly forgotten what she had been upset about.
Minako winked and stuck her tongue out, "Who knows?" She spoke cheekily, although she knew that wasn't the truth; she was trying to be more careful. Last night, a call was far too close for her. Usagi, her Princess, could've been killed if she had just been a little later. So she couldn't risk openly calling Usagi 'Princess' now, not anymore. She had been far too careless, and her Princess had almost paid the price for it. "Don't worry, Usagi, you'll always be our Princess, even if we don't call you that." Minako smiled, even though she had to force all the negative emotions of her failure down into the pit of her stomach.
"Why would I worry about that?" her Princess asked, looking confused. "I already know that. You don't have to tell me that!" Her Princess smiled at her warmly, and Minako was glad she was smiling again. However, she wondered if her Princess had already forgotten why she had been so glum before. Minako shook her as she supposed it didn't matter because all that mattered was that her Princess was safe and happy.

Ami felt rather awkward; she wasn't sure how she was supposed to feel. She glanced at the woman with unfathomably long white hair, which fell almost to her ankles. She had a strange feeling that it used to be longer. For a moment, she caught the woman's eyes, and she immediately averted her gaze to this ground because, well, she didn't know this woman, and yet this woman knew her. Well, that was to say she knew Mercury, not Ami.
"You're the Queen or something, right?" Makoto spoke, and Ami's head shot up towards Makoto; she couldn't believe her friend had just said that! Ami's gaze shifted towards this Queen, or rather the Queen studying her gaze, looking for any traces of negative emotions on the woman's face. But Ami found none.
"I'm a Queen no longer; my kingdom was destroyed." The woman spoke, pausing for a moment, "You don't remember, but you died fighting to save it. For that, I am truly sorry." The Queen's gaze became downcast, obscuring Ami's view, but she was sure for a moment she saw guilt in the Queen's eyes. It felt quiet again; the silence was a bit deafening this time around.
"Um, Queen, I'd like to remember that life!" Makoto suddenly spoke, her head gripping her uniform where her heart would be. Ami looked at Makoto again, and her lips parted as if she wanted to say something, but the moment she saw the determination on Makoto's face, she closed her mouth, almost embarrassed. Ami observed the Queen's face, watching as her jaw clenched, her grey eyes locking onto Makoto.
"You will no longer be the same as you are now." The Queen spoke carefully, and Ami tried to understand the meaning behind her words. But she couldn't, so she looked at Makoto and saw that her determination was still present.
"My parents died in a plane crash when I was young. I've lived alone since. I've never been able to fight for what I wanted. But when I met Usagi, I was able to change that. So I'd like to remember that life, even if it means I'm no longer me." Makoto said, and her words made Ami pause and wonder if maybe she should remember, too.
Ever since she was little, Ami wanted to be a doctor and help people like her mother. So she studied and studied, and as a result, she never had any friends—until Usagi came along. She only met Usagi because she was Mercury, because she was the reincarnation of the friend and soldier Usagi remembered. Meeting Usagi changed her life. Ever since they met, Ami has wondered if there was a way for her to repay Usagi for being her friend. Could this be it? Could remembering her past life be the answer? Ami took a deep breath and spoke, "Uh, me too! I want to remember, too!"
The Queen looked at her and then at Makoto with an unreadable expression. Then, solemnly, she nodded, "Very well. "
_
Usagi stood in the control room and stared at her mother, well her former mother. But to her, she would always be "Mother." Usagi wondered what to say, and after a few awkward moments, she blurted out, "I've missed you, Mother."
"Ser… Usagi, you don't have to call me that anymore. I am no longer your mother." Mother said, and to Usagi, it looked like the words hurt her. Usagi smiled,
"You're still my mother to me, and you can call me Serenity if you'd like." Usagi's voice was light, and the words were the truth. Usagi watched as Mother looked at her carefully and slowly walked over to her, placing hands on her shoulders.
"Serenity, don't you already have a mother?" Usagi didn't even need to think about her reply.
"Well, yeah. But I can have two mothers." Usagi said, smiling, and she had to crane her head a bit to look up at Mother, who was well over six feet tall, while Usagi was only about five feet two inches—she had to make an effort to observe her mother's expression. Mother let out a soft sigh and chuckled a bit.
"You have always been a peculiar child, Serenity, " her mother said in a warm and gentle voice. Usagi beamed at her Mother's response. When she heard those words, she knew what they meant. Usagi opened her arms and tilted her head.
"May I have a hug, mother?" Usagi asked, though some may see it as a childish request. She was confident no one in this room would. Mother's smile was warm as she shook her head before wrapping her arms around Usagi. Usagi did the same, and as she embraced her mother, the current height difference between her and Mother really sank in because, at the moment, the top of Usagi's head barely rested above Mother's chest, which was a bit embarrassing.
Usagi opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, the lights went out, leaving them in darkness.
_
Out of all the times the enemy attacked, why now? Usagi wondered and stood in front of the Tokyo Tower, which was completely devoid of its usual light. Because she had been having an emotional reunion—well, the second one, but last night didn't count because she had had a panic attack moments before it. But of course, the enemy had to interrupt her reunion with Mother. "Give me your hand, Princess, and give Mars your other," Venus spoke, and Usagi tilted her head to the side, confused but following the instructions anyway because, unlike her, Venus knew what she was doing. So, they were standing in a circle, all holding hands; why?
Usagi's question was quickly answered as her feet lifted off the ground, and the five of them started to ascend slowly to the Tokyo Tower. Usagi took a deep breath; she needed to be ready for this. Every enemy they had faced so far had been one of the men who had killed her. So, it was very likely that this enemy, the one who had shrouded Tokyo in darkness, would probably be the last of the men who killed her. The man with long white hair, so Usagi had to be ready for this. Usagi drew in a long, shaky breath as she tried to prepare herself. She could do this, she could do this, she could do this.
Maybe it was because Usagi was so focused on steeling herself, preparing herself for what was to come, that their ascend felt so slow. Well, that was good. Usagi supposed it gave her more time to prepare. She took another shaky breath in and out. In and out, in and out, just breathe in and out. She could do this. "We're here," Venus spoke, and their ascend stopped, and Usagi's feet landed on the lower observation deck of Tokyo Tower. Usagi's eyes locked on the ground, and she just needed one more moment to gather her courage.
"At last, you've arrived, Sailor Moon." Usagi thought it was odd that the enemy only addressed her, but that was okay; she supposed everyone was right here after all. She was fine. She could face the white-haired man. She looked up confidently; she was ready. Her eyes widened; she wasn't looking at the white-haired man; instead, she stared at a familiar man in a black tuxedo and cap, yet he was missing his white mask. Tuxedo Mask, Chiba Mamoru… what was he doing here? "How long I've waited for this Sailor Moon." Usagi stared at Tuxedo Mask, her eyes wide; what was he doing here? What was happening? Tuxedo Mask was standing in front of her, with a smirk on his face, one that was eerily familiar, and one of his hands behind his back. "What's wrong? Do you not recognize me, Serenity?" Tuxedo Mask spoke, stepping closer, and closer, and closer.
Meanwhile, Usagi's heart stopped at his words, and her eyes widened, her pupils dilating in terror as the realization hit her. All the while, Tuxedo Mask stepped closer and closer. He was far too close now, and Usagi stumbled back a few steps. Usagi was sure someone else was speaking to her, but she couldn't hear it. It was her, and the Tuxedo Mask was all that existed in the world. "Endymion…?" Usagi spoke, and her voice was scratchy, almost like a broken record. This couldn't be happening. Not again, it couldn't happen again. She couldn't die like that again!
Tuxedo Mask–Endymion smiled at her, but in reality, it was a cruel smirk. "It's since to see you again, Serenity. I've waited so long to kill you again." Usagi watched as Endymion stepped closer and closer and closer. He was getting too close, but Usagi couldn't move; she was frozen in place like a sheen layer of ice had frozen her feet to the ground. Endymion's smirk only widened as he drew closer and closer and closer, and Usagi could only watch. She watched, frozen in fear, as he moved the hand hidden behind his back, and Usagi's eyes widened as she saw the gleam of metal and the short sword he held within his hand. Usagi's breathing was erratic, in and out, in and out, in and out, deep breaths, deep breaths, deep breaths! She couldn't! She was going to die like that again. The blade was aimed toward her abdomen, where she had been stabbed by him then. She was going to die like that again. "Princess!"
Usagi was violently shoved out of the way of the blade, and she fell into the arms of Mars. Usagi looked back to where she once stood. Her eyes widened. There standing where she once stood was Venus, the blade of the short sword lodged in her abdomen; Usagi could see the deep crimson of blood starting to stain Venus's uniform. Usagi stared, and it was like time had stopped for a moment. Until Endyiom violently pulled the blade from Venus's abdomen. Usagi watched Venus stagger back, the blood staining her protector's uniform and blood starting to drip onto the floor. Usagi screamed, "Venus!"
Tears fell down Usagi's cheek one after another as her tiara shattered, and the entire tower was enveloped in a bright, blinding light.
