CHAPTER 260

As Dianna remained motionless on the couch Two Face was lingering closer and closer. With every bang and clang that came from the hanger the carnotaur's interest was further heightened. Dr. Johnson found herself wishing she had run when she had the chance, but now Two Face was much too close. In addition she had no idea what she would have been running into had she fled for the hanger. Whatever was going on in there didn't sound good.

Now Two Face was right outside the large, broken, office window, and she was sniffing at its jagged edges. While the carnotaurus was occupied Dianna sank against the couch cushions and started to lay flat. A distant bellow in the jungle made Two Face turn away from the building momentarily, and Dianna took the opportunity to wedge herself beneath the couch cushions so she was mostly buried.

Between one of the cushions and the couch's armrest she peered out. Two Face was sniffing at the window's edge again. The carnotaurus snorted and then ducked her head into the office. Before entering she examined the room. Dianna watched as the carnivore's horns shifted around and the dark shimmering eyes of the beast spied from underneath.

Two Face stepped into the room sniffing and grunting. Dianna watched the carnotaur's eyes settle on the couch. She could tell that Two Face noticed something had changed. The dinosaur stared but did not yet come closer.

As the carnotaur examined the couch Dr. Johnson did not feel hidden at all. It was as though the couch cushions were not even there. She wanted to curl up even more and hide her eyes, but she knew moving was the worst idea. For a moment Dianna thought Two Face had spotted her. The carnotaurus was staring right into her eyes.

Dianna's muscles clenched, and she wanted to jump up and run, but she didn't. Soon the carnotaur's eyes moved on, and Dr. Johnson's urge to flee subsided.

Two Face stepped forward and put her nose to the couch cushions. From beneath, Dianna felt them depress against her. She heard sniffing, snorting, and growling. As Two Face smelled various parts of the cushions Dr. Johnson felt them shifting over her. Her body stiffened, and she prayed the carnotaurus would not discover her.

Two Face barked and snatched the cushion up from off Dianna's face with her teeth. Dr. Johnson was petrified. She thought for certain she had been found.

She stared wide eyed in fright at the bottom of the cushion hanging over her. She was about to run. It seemed the only practical thing left to do. Then there was a loud bang from within the hanger. Two Face turned her head toward the massive hole in the wall. The cushion still dangled from her jaws. Dianna did not dare move. The carnotaurus grumbled and stared with curiosity toward the dark hanger. There was another sound like something large and metal scraping across the concrete floor. This seemed to spark Two Face's interest enough, and she wandered off toward the hanger, chewing the stuffing out of the couch cushion as she tromped off.

Dr. Johnson remained still as the carnotaur's tail swept over her and slipped away beyond view. Her body relaxed some, and she allowed herself a few quiet breaths. Out in the hanger she heard the heavy footsteps of the carnotaurus moving further away. Dr. Johnson tightened her grip on her shotgun and dared to sit up.
