CHAPTER 329

The garage was rumbling with the sound of small gas engines as four dune buggies were idling and ready to go. Kyra was buckled into the driver's seat of one and already gripping the steering wheel in anticipation of an intense ride. Seth had the cage-like door open on the opposite side and was about to climb in when Reuben snatched a fistful of his shoulder.

"Ow! Man, what's with you?" Seth stumbled away from the buggy and was rotated a half turn so he was partially facing Reuben. The broken watch dangled in front of Seth's eyes. Reuben's lips were right at his ear.

Seth shifted his eyes to meet Reuben's. The man was giving him a hard glare. Seth grinned uncomfortably as Reuben said nothing.

"Kyra? A little help here." Seth tried to wriggle free.

"Quit your gyrating!" Reuben barked.

"Sorry?" Seth watched his eyes shift to the watch, and he followed with his own.

Reuben spoke through his teeth, only moving his stiff lips, "he says you're coming with me, boy."

Reuben hoisted Seth off his feet with one arm. He felt incredibly strong for his build.

Now that the two of them were gone Kyra only saw Dr. Levine standing a little further off.

She walked over and took hold of the open passenger door. "Yes, well, that was interesting." She scanned the small passenger space within the dune buggy and began to climb in. "Ms. Murdock and Mr. Thorne are scarcely looking for company it seems." As she settled in, her shoulder nudged against Kyra's. "Close quarters, eh? Oh, seatbelts." She began wrestling with a five point harness and repeatedly beat Kyra over various parts of her body until she got it buckled. "Alright then. It looks like you know what you're doing. Sally forth." Richard waved a hand.

Kyra had had her eyes forward the whole time, and she didn't bother to look over now. In a short flat tone she said, "awesome."
