Chapter-12: S-Class Exam

Two Months Later

Amaris lounged on a chair aboard Fairy Tail's boat, her hair fluttering in the breeze. She wore a beach-like outfit: a bathing suit, sandals, a large sun hat, and round sunglasses. Sipping on a drink, she focused on a book floating in front of her. Words and tiny magic circles appeared rapidly on its pages, her process of creating a grimoire for a new magic she was developing for Natsu.

But where was the goddess headed? To the S-Class Exam, alongside Natsu and the rest of the guild.

Nearby, Natsu was chatting with Gray and Gajeel, while the others complained about the sweltering heat.

"Graaay! Cool down the ship, pleeease!" whined Lucy.

"I've done it like five times in the last ten minutes!" Gray replied.

"Well, it's still hot! Do it again!"

With a sigh, Gray waved his arm, cooling the air instantly. The other members participating in the S-Class Exam let out relieved sighs.

The chosen participants for the exam were: Cana, with Lucy as her teammate; Juvia, paired with Lisanna; Freed, who chose Bickslow; Elfman, teamed up with Evergreen; Levy, with Gajeel as her partner; Gray, who teamed up with Wendy; and Natsu, accompanied by Amaris. However, the goddess had made it clear she wouldn't interfere, calling the exam a "kids' game."

"All right, brats!" Makarov announced, drawing everyone's attention. "We've reached our destination: Tenrou Island, the birthplace of our first master."

Ahead lay a massive island, dominated by a colossal tree towering above even the mountains.

"On the island, you'll follow paths leading to cave entrances labeled A, B, C, D, E, F, and G," Makarov continued. "Three of these paths may lead you to face one of our S-Class mages, while the others could either be 'quiet,' with a direct path to the next stage, or a 'battle,' where you'll encounter another team and fight."

Turning to Natsu, Makarov added, "You're to take Path G. Let's face it, Laxus, Mira, or Erza wouldn't stand a chance against you."

Natsu grinned. "So, I get to trash Gildarts, huh?"

"Not so fast," Amaris interjected. "It wouldn't be fair to let you blast him away. Your raw magic will be restricted by 70%. Oh, and don't forget—the clothes will change too."

Natsu nodded. "Seems fair. Let's get started."

Makarov raised his hand toward the sky. "Let the S-Class Promotion Exam begin!"

Five Minutes Later

Natsu walked slowly into the cave, his silver eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. Amaris floated lazily around him, a playful smile on her face.

"Bout time," came a voice from deeper inside.

Gildarts stood in the center of the cavern, a grin stretching across his face. He now sported advanced prosthetics, a gift from Amaris at Natsu's request weeks ago.

"Well, well, well... The day's finally come. I get to smack you around like I promised I would when I was a kid," Natsu said, his voice laced with confidence.

Gildarts chuckled. "You can try."

"Cocky," Natsu replied.

As Natsu approached, Amaris casually perched herself on a nearby rock, away from the center of the cavern, clearly intending to spectate.

"Anything you want to say before we start punching?" Gildarts asked.

"No."

"Good."

A moment of tense silence filled the cave before Gildarts suddenly stomped his foot down. The ground beneath Natsu cracked and shifted, breaking apart into countless small cubes that surged upward to form a towering pillar.

Natsu dodged with ease, laughing. "Making the first move? I didn't expect that from you, old man."

"You're not the same kid with Dragon Slayer Magic anymore. I get that," Gildarts said. "I can't treat you like a child far below my level. Even suppressed, you're still a serious threat."

Natsu smirked. "Glad we're on the same page."

Their magic surged simultaneously, filling the cave with overwhelming energy.

Natsu Dragneel - (Demon Base + No Yamato + 70% Suppressed) - 1.9 Billion MPL

Gildarts Clive - (Crash Mage + Full Power) - 1.97 Billion MPL

In an instant, both mages vanished and reappeared face-to-face, fists drawn back.

When their punches collided, streaks of white-yellow magic and crimson fire exploded outward, illuminating the cavern. Gildarts followed with a left hook, but Natsu dodged effortlessly.

"Seraphic Dragon Monarch's Roar!"

A beam of raw, stellar energy erupted from Natsu's mouth at point-blank range. Gildarts twisted his body, narrowly avoiding the blast, and with a flick of his fingers, the ground beneath Natsu disintegrated.

Natsu halted his attack, crossing his arms in defense as Gildarts closed the distance. The older mage's fist glowed with Crash Magic as he struck, forcing Natsu deeper into the fractured earth.

Gritting his teeth, Natsu roared, and small orbs of silver light materialized around them. Gildarts' eyes widened, and he leapt back just as the orbs detonated, causing powerful explosions throughout the cave.

Sliding across the ground, Gildarts surveyed the crater he had left Natsu in.

"Looking for something?" came Natsu's voice from behind.

Gildarts turned just in time to see Natsu's foot swinging toward him. The kick connected squarely with his face, sending him stumbling back. Natsu's right hand glowed with silver light as he thrust it forward, unleashing a massive beam of energy.

The beam surged toward Gildarts at light speed, but the Crash Mage was unshaken. Raising his arm, he shouted, "Crash!"

The beam fragmented into hundreds of tiny cubes of light, which dissipated harmlessly into the air.

Gildarts chuckled. "I'm impressed, Natsu. High-level spells with no incantation or magic circle, and the concentration is incredible. Well done."

Natsu smirked. "What can I say? You don't hang out with a Goddess of Magic in your head without picking up a few tricks."

"To call those 'tricks' an understatement," Gildarts said, grinning. "I've crushed countless magics in my life, but few have been as potent and refined as this. Your manipulation is nearly flawless."

Natsu grinned, wiping some dust from his face. "Nearly flawless, huh? I'll take that as a compliment. But don't start thinking you've seen everything."

"Good," Gildarts replied, cracking his neck. "Because I haven't either."

With that, Gildarts charged forward, his fist glowing with the unmistakable power of Crash Magic. Natsu braced himself, raising a barrier of silver light in an instant. The collision of Crash Magic against the barrier sent shockwaves rippling through the cavern, shaking its very foundations.

The barrier cracked, but before it could shatter, Natsu pushed back with a pulse of energy. Gildarts skidded across the ground, laughing. "Not bad, kid. But let's see how you handle this!"

Gildarts slammed both palms onto the ground, and the entire cavern shifted. Huge chunks of rock broke into cubic formations, floating midair before surging toward Natsu like a tidal wave.

Natsu jumped into the air, flipping gracefully to avoid the incoming cubes. Mid-air, he gathered energy into his fist.

"Seraphic Dragon Monarch's Destruction Fist!"

He descended like a meteor, his punch connecting with the wave of cubes and obliterating them in a burst of fire. The force of the impact created a massive crater, scattering debris everywhere.

But Gildarts was already on him, appearing out of nowhere with a devastating kick aimed at Natsu's side. The younger mage twisted just in time, catching the kick with his forearm, though the force sent him flying into the cave wall.

Amaris, still lounging on her rock, clapped lazily. "Not bad. You're both putting on quite the show. Though, Gildarts, I expected a bit more finesse from you."

"Finesse?" Gildarts quipped, smirking. "This is a fight, not a dance."

Natsu pulled himself out of the wall, dusting off his coat. "Don't get comfortable, old man. I'm just getting started."

The temperature dropped, and whatever light could seep into the cave was snuffed out.

"Night God's Shadow Veil."

Natsu's voice rang out calmly, and a dark fog quickly filled the cave. Gildarts, unable to see anything, felt himself growing fatigued.

"Darkness and Sleep Magic?" Gildarts thought. "Impressively potent too."

Drawing a small knife from his cloak, Gildarts stabbed his leg—just deep enough to send a sharp shock to overwhelm the sense of sleep. He immediately charged his magic, and a massive pillar of raw energy smashed through the ceiling, dispelling the Shadow Veil.

"Impressive," Natsu remarked. "You caught on to the Sleep Magic and used pain to counter it instantly. Not bad at all."

Gildarts smirked, brushing debris off his shoulder as the remnants of the Shadow Veil dissipated. "You'll find I'm not so easy to take down. Tricks like that might work on someone else, but I've been at this a lot longer than you."

Natsu chuckled, his silver eyes gleaming faintly in the dim light. "Oh, I didn't expect it to take you down. I just wanted to see how you'd handle it. And I've got to admit, I'm impressed."

The elder mage straightened, his grin widening. "Testing me, huh? You've got nerve. But if you think you've seen everything, you're sorely mistaken."

"Good," Natsu replied, his voice calm but brimming with confidence. "Because if you're not giving it your all, this won't be much fun for either of us."

Gildarts raised his hand, raw Crash Magic swirling around his palm. The sheer pressure of his power made the ground tremble beneath them. "Then let's stop talking and get back to it!"

In an instant, the two vanished, their speed blurring them out of sight as their magic collided in a burst of light and heat. The impact sent a shockwave through the cavern, cracking the walls and sending chunks of rock tumbling to the ground.

Gildarts appeared behind Natsu, his fist crackling with destructive energy as he aimed a devastating blow. "Take this!"

But just before the hit landed, Natsu's form shimmered like a mirage and vanished.

"Afterimage?" Gildarts thought, spinning around just in time to see Natsu materialize above him, his fists drenched in darkness.

"Night God's Cataclysmic Fist!"

Natsu's blow connected with Gildarts's defense with such force that the ground seemed to split open beneath them. Gildarts was hurled into the crater, his body skidding against the rocks.

Natsu used Gildarts as leverage to jump back from the crater, regaining his position in the cave.

After a moment, Gildarts leapt from the rubble, his landing shaking the ground. He spat blood to the side and grinned at Natsu. "Nice, but you'll need more than that."

Natsu's eyes gleamed with anticipation, a smile creeping onto his face. "No need."

"Is that so?" Gildarts asked, his voice a low growl. He dashed at Natsu, his fist charged with more Crash Magic than he had used during their entire fight.

"Crash Art - All Crush!"

Gildarts unleashed a massive blow toward Natsu, carrying an enormous amount of energy with it.

But Natsu smiled. He stretched his arm forward, muscles tensing as he shouted, "Crush!"

The two powerful Crash Magics collided, Natsu's deep red energy clashing against Gildarts's white and gold. The impact sent a shockwave through the cavern, but Natsu's spell proved superior, dissipating Gildarts's complex attack.

With his defense broken, Gildarts was left wide open.

"Seraphic Dragon Monarch's Wing Attack!"

Natsu's arms swelled with solar energy, and he summoned a massive wave of power that crashed toward Gildarts, sending him careening into the cave wall.

After a minute, Gildarts slowly pulled himself out of the rubble, walking toward Natsu with a determined expression.

"You… you have Crash Magic?" Gildarts asked, his voice filled with disbelief.

"Figured out how to use it from you," Natsu replied coolly.

Gildarts chuckled, shaking his head in admiration. "I see... Your understanding of magic is beyond me. That wasn't Copy Magic, was it? You learned how to use Crash Magic in the middle of our fight—unbelievable. It's one of the most difficult magics to master, and you learned it in minutes."

He waved his arm, his tone shifting to something lighter. "I'm done here. You pass."

Natsu stood tall, his silver eyes gleaming with triumph as Gildarts acknowledged his achievement. The elder mage's chuckle echoed in the cavern, filled with a mix of amusement and disbelief.

"You're something else, kid," Gildarts said, brushing debris off his shoulders and cracking his neck. "Learning Crash Magic mid-fight? That's not just talent—it's pure insanity. You've got my respect."

Natsu let the tension ease from his stance, the fiery aura around him dissipating. "I wasn't trying to impress you, old man. I just wanted to see if I could do it." His voice carried a hint of pride, but also a sharp edge of determination.

Gildarts laughed again, louder this time. "Well, you sure as hell did. Most mages spend their entire lives just trying to grasp the basics of Crash Magic, and you've already got the fundamentals down. Unbelievable."

Amaris floated closer, her amused smirk firmly in place. "It's not just his talent. Natsu's mind is a battlefield of possibilities. He doesn't see limits—only challenges to overcome."

"Is that so?" Gildarts muttered, eyeing Natsu with renewed interest. "Guess that explains why you're standing here today, stronger than ever."

Natsu crossed his arms, his expression still calm but resolute. "Enough talk. Are you really done, or are you just calling it quits because you're out of tricks?"

The Crash Mage shook his head with a wry grin. "I know when I'm beat, kid. Besides, this wasn't about me winning or losing—it was about seeing what you're made of. And let me tell you, you've got everything it takes and more."

Amaris clapped her hands, her voice playful. "Aww, such a heartfelt moment. Shall I fetch a trophy for the winner?"

Natsu rolled his eyes.

Gildarts extended a hand, his grin softer now. "Congratulations, Natsu. You've proven yourself beyond a shadow of a doubt. If anyone deserves the title of S-Class, it's you."

Natsu hesitated for a moment before grasping Gildarts's hand firmly. "Thanks. But this is just the beginning. I'm not stopping here."

"I'd be disappointed if you did," Gildarts replied. "Keep pushing those limits, kid. You're going to need that strength for whatever comes next."

As the two mages shook hands, the tension in the cavern faded, replaced by a mutual respect forged through battle. Amaris floated between them, her eyes gleaming with approval.

"Well," she said, "that was entertaining. Shall we get going?"

With a final glance at the now-battered cavern, Natsu nodded. "Let's go. There's still a lot to do."

With the others,

Gajeel and Levy passed through the 'quiet' path, their journey mostly uneventful. Lucy and Cana faced off against Freed and Bickslow, coming out victorious. Meanwhile, Juvia and Lisanna had the unfortunate luck of facing Fairy Tail's newly awakened Dragoness and were defeated.

Gray and Wendy arrived shortly after, Gray looking a bit roughed up, while Wendy's determined expression spoke volumes. They encountered Laxus, and Gray immediately squared off with him. The battle was intense, with Laxus closing the gap in raw power that Gray had gained from becoming a Devil Slayer. Wendy's enchantments proved invaluable throughout the fight, and eventually, Laxus acknowledged their strength and allowed them to pass. Both Laxus and Gray, after a brief exchange, offered Wendy words of encouragement. Wendy took them to heart, solidifying her resolve to grow even stronger.

Elfman and Evergreen showed up next, battered and bruised. They encountered Mira but refused to share the details of how they'd passed.

Finally, Natsu appeared, flanked by Amaris.

"Sup?" Gray asked, smirking. "How was your fight?"

"Cool, I got Crash Magic now," Natsu replied, sounding as casual as ever.

Gajeel snorted in amusement. "Of course, you learned the Old Man's magic in the middle of the fight, you bloody monster."

"Thank you, Metal Head," Natsu quipped with a grin.

Gray chuckled at Gajeel's remark, shaking his head. "Seriously, Natsu, you're something else. Crash Magic, of all things?"

Natsu grinned, his silver eyes gleaming with a mix of satisfaction and nonchalance. "What can I say? The old man's got some good moves. I had to pick it up."

A few minutes passed before Makarov made his presence known.

"All right, kids, now that we're all here, it's time for the second part of the exam," Makarov said, his voice carrying authority. "Somewhere on this island lies the Grave of Mavis Vermilion, the First Master of Fairy Tail. Your task is to find it. Simple, right?"

The group exchanged glances, some with confidence, others with more uncertainty.

Gray raised an eyebrow. "Wait, that's it? We just have to find a grave?"

Makarov smiled. "It's not that simple, Gray. The island isn't exactly welcoming, and there are a few… challenges along the way. You'll need to rely on more than just your strength and magic. This test is about strategy, teamwork, and understanding what it means to be a S-Class Mage."

Makarov said, his eyes gleaming with pride. "Remember, this isn't just about finding the grave—it's about what you learn along the way. Now go. The clock is ticking."

Without another word, the group scattered, each heading in different directions across the island. The challenges ahead would test their strength, wits, and teamwork. But they were all determined to find the grave of Mavis Vermilion and prove themselves worthy.

Natsu, Amaris at his side, strode forward with an air of unwavering confidence, ready to take on whatever obstacles came their way.

With *****

A young man was resting beneath a large tree, his arm resting behind his head, eyes closed as he allowed the cool breeze to wash over him. Subtly, he grinned—a wicked, almost feral grin that exposed his sharp fangs. His black hair framed his face, giving him an air of mystery. His attire looked ancient, yet well-kept, as if he had stepped out of a time long past.

"This is going to be good," he muttered to himself, a low chuckle escaping his lips as he pushed himself up from the ground. Slowly, he made his way into the thick forest, every step purposeful, every motion deliberate.

With 'Hades'

Meanwhile, aboard a flying ship, the ominous silhouette of the island growing closer in the distance, Hades stood at the helm, surveying the gathered forces. His presence alone commanded the attention of his subordinates.

"Members of Grimoire Heart," he began, his voice cold and menacing, "We are about to go to war with the guild known as Fairy Tail."

At this declaration, a young man with wild blonde hair and crimson eyes burst out laughing, his tone filled with arrogance. "HA! It don't matter! They're weak! We'll kill them all!"

SS-Class Dark Mage of Grimoire Heart

One of the Seven Kin

Zancrow

The God Slayer

"The Fairy Tail guild was the main force to defeat Bayle and his Demon Army," a woman interjected, her voice steady and filled with authority. She stood tall, her long, dark purple hair flowing in the wind, her red eyes burning with determination. "We are going up against the strongest of them all—the ones who killed the most demons during the war. They are all far beyond your average S-Class, with the strongest even surpassing the Wizard Saint levels."

SS-Class Dark Mage of Grimoire Heart

Leader of the Seven Kin

Ultear Milkovich

The Time Wizard

Zancrow scoffed, not at all impressed by the mention of their strength. "Fairy Tail? Pfft. Who cares about their 'S-Class'? We'll tear them apart!"

Ultear ignored his dismissive attitude and continued. "They have four Dragon Slayers, one of whom killed Bayle with spells powerful enough to shake all of Fiore. There's also a Devil Slayer and a Take Over Mage of Demons—both of whom are far above most Wizard Saints. But the greatest threat of all is Natsu Dragneel."

Zancrow leaned back, crossing his arms with a grin. "The Lizard Hunter? HA! So he killed a lizard. Big deal! Lizards are nothing to Gods!"

Ultear narrowed her eyes but didn't respond to his arrogance. Instead, Hades stepped forward, his expression grave, his tone unyielding.

"Zancrow," Hades warned, his voice like ice, "Natsu Dragneel is not just any Dragon Slayer. He is a Demon—one who was granted the power of one of the most powerful dragons in history, a dragon known for murdering Gods and Demons alike. And that's not all. Dragneel has also gained the power of God Slayer Magic himself. He is a force we cannot underestimate."

The air grew colder, the weight of Hades' words sinking in. Zancrow's grin faltered for a moment, his usual cocky demeanor cracking just slightly as he processed the implications of what had been said.

"God Slayer Magic, huh?" Zancrow muttered, his tone more serious now, yet still laced with arrogance. "Still, he's just a man, ain't he? We can take him down."

Ultear shot him a sharp glance. "You don't understand. Natsu Dragneel isn't just any man. He is something far more dangerous than you're prepared to face." Her voice was calm, but there was an undeniable edge to it.

Hades took a slow, deliberate step forward, his cold gaze sweeping across his forces. "We will face Natsu, but be warned—this battle will not be like the others. His power isn't something that can be easily destroyed. His demon blood and Dragon Slayer abilities make him a deadly combination, and with the addition of God Slayer Magic, we may be facing the very weapon that could challenge even us."

Zancrow's lips curled into a defiant sneer, but there was a glimmer of caution in his eyes. "Fine. We'll see just how tough this Dragneel really is."

Ultear folded her arms, her expression one of quiet determination. "Underestimating him will cost us more than just our pride. If we're to defeat Fairy Tail, we need to be strategic, and we need to be ready for anything."

Hades nodded. "Exactly. And once we defeat them, their guild will be ours for the taking. No one will be left to stand against us."

The crew nodded in unison, a dark anticipation filling the air as the ship cut through the skies, heading ever closer to the island. Their faces were set, their resolve hardening as the tension between them grew. They were about to face the most formidable opponents they had ever encountered—but they had no intention of losing.

Back on the Island

Back on the island, Natsu walked along the path, the wind rustling through his hair as Amaris established a telepathic link with him and Erza.

"You learned Gildarts' Crash Magic?" Erza asked, her voice filled with a mix of admiration and amusement. "My, you always do something insane, love."

"Of course he does, darling," Amaris added playfully, "and that's what makes him so charming. It never fails to make your... knees bend~"

Erza laughed softly, a teasing note in her voice. "I suppose~. Say, dear, are we still doing that thing we planned for Natsu?"

"I fail to see how you two managed to team up so quickly against me," Natsu replied with a smile.

"Against you? Oh, darling, we have a gift for you~" Amaris teased. "Just like our first night of... passion~"

There was a momentary pause, and Amaris continued, her tone turning more mischievous, "Don't lie and say you didn't love getting a Goddess and a Dragon in your bed~ You surely loved the sex. I did too... Erza has quite the... mouth," she added with a playful, lewd tone.

Natsu could practically feel Erza blushing through the link. "Oh, she does, doesn't she? So very, very good and tasty," Natsu teased, his grin widening.

Amaris giggled, thoroughly enjoying the banter. "Oh, I'm loving this, but let's keep the sexy talk for later."

As the telepathic exchange continued, a smirk tugged at Natsu's lips, his silver eyes glinting with amusement. He walked with a relaxed stride, his senses alert as he took in the sights of Tenrou Island. He could feel the distant presence of the other guild members, all preparing for the upcoming trials. Yet, amidst the playful teasing, there was a growing sense of unease deep within him—something felt off, though he wasn't worried. With Amaris and Erza by his side, he felt invincible.

Erza's voice, now slightly more serious, broke the momentary silence. "Are you sure you're not just trying to avoid the gift? You were always the one to act tough, but I think deep down, you enjoy when we take the reins."

Natsu's grin widened. "Oh, you both know I don't mind it at all. But I'll admit, I'm curious about what you have planned. Can't leave me hanging now, can you?"

Amaris, still amused, responded, "Oh, we'll give you the gift in due time, darling. Just know that it's something you won't forget. But for now, we'll leave you to your little walk. You've got a test to prepare for."

Natsu chuckled, his thoughts drifting toward the upcoming S-Class Exam and the challenges it would bring. His instincts told him that things were about to get interesting. Despite the uneasy feeling in his gut, he wasn't about to let his guard down. No matter what came next, he knew he was ready.

"Alright, ladies," Natsu said, his voice light yet determined. "I'll leave the gift for later. Let's focus on surviving this exam first."

Erza's voice softened, a hint of affection lingering in her tone. "Just remember, there's always time for both the fight... and other things, my love."

The teasing continued, but Natsu's focus began to shift. The challenge ahead was real, and he wasn't about to let anything distract him from what lay before him.

Suddenly, Natsu froze in his tracks, his senses alert to something unusual in the air.

"Natsu," Amaris whispered, her voice low and strained, "Someone... someone is here who shouldn't be."

"A Demon?" Natsu asked, his voice calm, but the edge of concern creeping in.

"Much worse than just a Demon, my dear."

"Where?" Natsu demanded, his eyes scanning the area with newfound urgency.

"...Natsu," Amaris hesitated, a rare tremor in her voice, "I... I don't think we're ready for this battle." The words were a shock to Natsu. In the months they'd spent together, Amaris had never shown such weariness, especially about an opponent.

"I can handle it," Natsu replied confidently, though a flicker of doubt remained in his mind.

"My dear, I worry about this... but I will help you in any way I can," Amaris said, her tone turning more serious. "Let's hope he doesn't try to fight you."

"Does this person know me?" Natsu asked, already feeling the weight of the situation pressing in on him.

"After the Bayle incident, I'd wager that anyone worth a damn on this planet knows who you are," Amaris replied. "But I have a feeling... he might be much closer than just someone who senses your potential."

Natsu's eyes narrowed, the air around him thick with tension. "Well, no reason to wait," he said firmly, his determination settling into his chest. Without another word, he began heading toward the source of the unfamiliar energy, his pace quickening as he felt Elfman and Evergreen moving toward it as well.

With the Presence

"Who are you? I won't ask again!" Elfman demanded, his senses in overdrive as the man before them radiated an overwhelming power.

Evergreen adjusted her glasses, her eyes narrowing with suspicion. "Are you a Demon?"

The man's lips curled into a dark smile. "Suppose I am." He raised his hand, and a wave of black energy began to form around him. "I have no need for you. Disappear."

A surge of Black Magic exploded toward them at an incredible speed.

"GET DOWN!" Natsu shouted, his voice commanding.

Without hesitation, Natsu leaped in front of the wave, Yamato in hand. With a single, powerful slash, he cleaved through the oncoming force, sending a shockwave that split the trees before him and created a massive ravine in the island, seawater rushing into the newly formed chasm.

Yet, the man before them stood unfazed, a knowing smile on his face. "Great power… but not enough, little brother."

Natsu's eyes narrowed as he turned back to Elfman and Evergreen. "Go."

"We can—"

"GO!" Natsu's voice was fierce, and without another word, Evergreen grabbed Elfman's arm.

"We can't help him!" she cried, but Natsu's gaze was unwavering.

With reluctance, they retreated, leaving Natsu alone with the man.

"Good move, sending them away," the man commented, his smile unshaken.

Natsu's eyes glowed silver, his hands transforming into demonic claws as his hair began to float around him. His power surged, ready for battle. "Who the hell are you?"

The man's smile deepened. "You already know, little brother."

"'Little brother'? What nonsense is this?!" Natsu's voice was a mixture of confusion and anger.

"Still don't remember?" the man mused, his voice laced with mockery. "Well, I'll help you with that."

Amaris's voice rang out in Natsu's mind, sharp and urgent. "DODGE!"

Instinctively, Natsu leaped back, but the man reached him effortlessly. With a single touch to his forehead, Natsu's body stiffened, his eyes widening as his mind was flooded with memories of a time long past. Memories of Igneel, of a power once wielded, of a childhood spent with no one but a brother.

Natsu collapsed to the ground, his head spinning, Amaris shouting in pain within his mind as she fought to keep the chaos at bay.

"Did that hurt the Goddess?" the man asked, his tone calm, almost too calm. "I apologize. The seal is a bit cracked. The pressure might have caused a destabilization, but don't worry. It will fade soon enough."

Amaris's presence in Natsu's mind flickered, but she managed to stabilize herself, holding a glowing orb close to her chest. Natsu's soul pulsed within the orb, safe but vulnerable to the turmoil.

Natsu slowly pushed himself to his feet, his breath heavy and erratic. His eyes were wide with confusion and disbelief. "What the...?"

He turned to face the man, his voice shaky but resolute. "Zeref?"

The Most Powerful Dark Mage on Earth Land

Creator of the Etherious Demons

The Master of the Black Arts

The Devil of Magic

The Black Wizard

Zeref Dragneel

Zeref smiled, his silver eyes reflecting Natsu's own. "Hello, brother."

Natsu's mind raced, his hand instinctively reaching for his neck. He could still hear the sickening sound of bones snapping, feel the cold sensation of blood dripping down his chest. There had been no regeneration in that memory.

Then, a… void.

No.

Something more than a void. Something that existed, yet not. Death? Or something worse?

"Wh-what happened to me? H-how can I be here?" Natsu stammered, his voice shaking. "I— I died? But then—"

"I resurrected you," Zeref spoke, his voice calm and measured. "We were children back then, your Demon side dormant, so was mine. But your death… led to events that awakened mine."

Zeref circled Natsu, his expression unreadable. "Our powers… even now, I do not fully understand where they came from. But it does not matter now."

"H-how did you… resurrect me? The Tower of Heaven?"

Zeref's lips curved into a small, almost pitying smile. "Ah, the R-System? No, that was a failure. You should already know, the same power has awakened you two more times since."

Natsu's eyes widened in realization. His gaze flickered to the sword in his hand. "The— Yamato?"

"A manifestation of your power," Zeref continued. "It's been with you in different forms for as long as time has existed. The 'idea' of it, at least. I'm sure you've heard of my demons."

"The Etherious Demons?" Natsu asked, his voice laced with a mix of suspicion and dawning horror.

Zeref nodded. "They were born of my own understanding of Demon Power and the Black Arts. All that knowledge was used to forcibly awaken your inner demon power and improve upon it. So, you were reborn… as Etherious Natsu Dragneel. E.N.D."

"E.N.D? …That's… me?" Natsu muttered, struggling to process the weight of the revelation.

"Yes, my greatest creation," Zeref said with a distant look in his eyes, "yet not."

Natsu clenched his fist, new memories surging into his mind. Memories that filled him with rage.

A red dragon, immense and powerful. A dragon who had cared for him, protected him—his father, Igneel.

Betrayed. Stabbed in the back. Robbed of his strength.

A black dragon with blue markings. Fighting alongside a black mage, sword in hand.

Acnologia and Zeref. Fighting Igneel.

Natsu's eyes widened as the silver light in his gaze flared with fury. His body trembled with the force of his anger. He stared at Zeref with burning hatred.

"You… betrayed Igneel," Natsu hissed, his voice full of disbelief and disgust. "You allied with Acnologia."

Zeref said nothing.

"I saw it… I was there… in the mountains. You stabbed him in the back, after everything Igneel did for us…!" Natsu's voice cracked, his fists trembling with emotion.

Zeref's expression remained neutral, almost cold. "I did. He knew of it long before I actually did it… and even then, he chose to protect you. Hide you away. Hide the past. Hide you from me."

Natsu's fists clenched at his sides, his body trembling with fury.

Zeref's tone shifted, becoming more persuasive, as he slowly raised his hand toward Natsu. "But now... it does not matter. We are together once more, brother. We can be a family again."

Natsu's eyes bore into Zeref's with burning intensity. He didn't flinch.

"Together," Zeref continued, "we will be unstoppable."

Natsu's response was swift and unrelenting. He smacked Zeref's hand away with a force that sent a shockwave through the air.

"...You… are a fucking disappointment," Natsu growled, his voice low and venomous. "A coward… even now."

His gaze never wavered from Zeref's. His words were laced with contempt. "The only thing I will bring you... is Death. You made your choice long ago, and so did I, Zeref."

Zeref's eyes narrowed slightly, but he was silent for a moment, his lips pressing into a thin line. Slowly, he closed his eyes, as if lost in deep thought.

Zeref remained unmoved, his expression unreadable as he let out a quiet sigh, almost as if he were disappointed. "So it seems," he muttered, "Even after all these years, you still haven't come to understand your true purpose."

Natsu's silver eyes burned with fury, his body trembling with raw power. "Purpose? Purpose?" He scoffed. "Who are you to command me? Who are you to think you're above me? Your obsession with purpose and fate... it's what makes you weak. You think you know who I am? What I need to be? What I need to do? Fate won't shackle me. Your power won't control me. And your 'purpose' will never save you from the destruction I'll bring."

Zeref's expression darkened, his eyes flashing with an unsettling calm. He didn't flinch at Natsu's words; instead, he appeared almost contemplative, as though the fiery outburst didn't surprise him in the slightest.

"Is that so?" Zeref's voice dropped, low and dangerous, his tone laced with amusement. "You think you're free, Natsu? That your rebellion will lead you to salvation? Fate may not bind you, but you're still a puppet, pulling at strings you can't even begin to comprehend."

Natsu chuckled, the sound dark and filled with defiance. "Keep those eyes wide open, Zeref... watch me rip them out... and break free from it ALL."

With his words, his power surged, and for a moment, his body shifted—his form changing, his aura intensifying as it manifested around him in a blazing, demonic energy. His transformation was more than physical; it was a manifestation of his defiance, a declaration that he would not be controlled, that he would break every chain that Zeref thought bound him.

Zeref stood still, his gaze unwavering as he watched Natsu's transformation, a faint smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. The overwhelming surge of power from his brother did not faze him. If anything, it seemed to confirm his thoughts.

"Such fire," Zeref murmured, almost to himself. "But it is still so... fleeting." His silver eyes locked onto Natsu's, filled with cold amusement. "You think breaking free from me will make you strong? You're only fooling yourself. In the end, we are bound by more than blood. You are tethered to a fate you will never escape."

Natsu's hands clenched into fists, his claws now fully formed, dripping with the demonic energy surging through his veins. His voice was low, almost a growl, but filled with unshakable conviction. "I'm not bound to you... to anyone. I'll carve my own path, and nothing—nothing—you do can stop me."

Zeref's expression hardened for the first time, a shadow passing over his features. "We shall see," he said with a dangerous calm, raising his hand slowly as dark magic began to swirl around him, the air thickening with a palpable, malevolent force.

The ground beneath them trembled as Zeref's magic seeped into the earth, dark tendrils reaching toward Natsu. It was a power that sought to bind, to corrupt, and to consume, but Natsu's power flared in response—silver light clashing with the darkness that sought to take root.

"Your power is nothing compared to what I can do," Zeref sneered, his voice dripping with disdain. "You're just like the others—foolishly hoping your rage will protect you. But in the end, rage is a weakness, Natsu. It will break you, just as it broke all the others who sought to defy me."

Natsu's silver eyes glowed brighter, a fire burning deep within. "I am not like the others... and you know it," he declared with conviction, his voice unwavering. He took a step forward, his presence growing more overwhelming with each movement. "I am Natsu Dragneel," he said, his tone colder, darker, "I am Silver-Eye... the Demon of Death... the Devil of the Night... the Dragon of the END..." He stepped closer to Zeref, his eyes now a blaze of fury and power. A wicked grin twisted his lips. "The Black Seraph."

Zeref's expression faltered slightly, but he said nothing, his eyes watching Natsu closely.

Natsu continued, his words now a dark chant, a prophecy of destruction, "Gods may cower, Angels fall, Demons drown in pain and terror … as nightmares, consume you all."

Zeref's smile twitched as Natsu spoke, his voice continuing to carry the weight of destiny.

"Bloodied Claws and jagged teeth," Zeref hissed, his own voice slipping into a dark resonance.

"Tear the fleas of those beneath," Natsu finished, his voice a low growl, the air vibrating with the intensity of his words.

"Screams of horror fuel my might," Zeref added, a chilling prophecy of things to come.

"I am the End of all Delight," Natsu finished, his voice a final declaration, "I bring despair and living death to all my enemies."

A heavy silence hung in the air between the two, the weight of their words echoing through the stillness.

Zeref chuckled, a cold, mirthless sound. "All that... and you claim you are different from me?"

Natsu's expression darkened, his smile twisted with defiance. "Different? No. Just better." His eyes locked with Zeref's, burning with an intensity that could pierce even the darkest of souls.

Zeref said nothing. The two brothers stood in a heavy silence, their glares like blades. Zeref knew he was stronger, but there was something about Natsu—something unnerving. A tenacity, a will that couldn't be easily broken.

"Is that so?" Zeref's voice was low, almost amused. "You will rue this day, Natsu. You will rue the day you chose to turn your back on me. And if you somehow survive... then, we will have our duel."

Natsu's grin widened, his silver eyes flashing with arrogance. "Do get your strength up," he said, his voice dripping with confidence. "You'll need it."

The words hit Zeref like a slap, his rage bubbling beneath the surface. The audacity of Natsu—how he showed no fear, how he could face him without flinching, knowing full well that he didn't have the strength to defeat Zeref, yet still dared to call him weak. It infuriated him to no end.

"Goodbye, brother," Zeref spat, his voice cold, laced with contempt.

"Goodbye," Natsu replied, his tone indifferent, as though he had already won.

In a flash of dark light, Zeref vanished, leaving Natsu standing alone in the aftermath of their confrontation. For a moment, Natsu remained motionless, his thoughts swirling with the weight of their exchange. Then, with a deep breath, he turned around, the flicker of his power still crackling in the air as he walked away, resolute in his path.

With Gray

The tension between the two men was palpable, the air thick with the promise of violence. Gray stood firm, his cold fury radiating off of him like an icy storm, his glowing blue eyes locked onto Azuma with deadly intent. Wendy lay unconscious in his arms, her bloodied head the result of a brutal attack. The sight of her in that state only fueled Gray's rage.

"I am going to tear your fucking throat out for what you did, bastard," Gray snarled, his voice low and venomous.

SS-Class Dark Mage of Grimoire Heart

One of the Seven Kin

Azuma

The Great Forest

Azuma, one of the Seven Kin of Grimoire Heart, stood with his arms crossed, his expression unbothered. He was clad in tribal-like armor, the dark green markings of his magic glowing faintly on his skin. His presence was imposing, but he seemed unfazed by Gray's threat.

"What purpose did you have bringing a child here?" Azuma countered, his voice smooth but laced with a hint of contempt.

Gray's grip tightened around Wendy, his face twisted in rage. "What purpose do you fuckers have here?!"

Azuma didn't flinch. "Telling you won't help you," he said coldly. "You'll soon be dead."

Gray scoffed and began walking toward Azuma, his fists clenched and his eyes glowing a menacing blue. His power began to build, an eerie, demonic aura radiating from him. Azuma's eyes narrowed, a smirk tugging at his lips.

"Ah, you're the Devil Slayer?" Azuma raised an eyebrow, almost entertained. "Maybe this will be fun after all."

Gray's icy eyes remained locked on Azuma, his voice unwavering. "Last chance. Why are you here?"

Azuma chuckled darkly. "Beat me, and I might tell you."

But before Azuma could say anything else, Gray vanished in a blur of motion. He appeared in front of Azuma with terrifying speed, his fist rocketing toward the man's face. The punch landed with a sickening crack, sending Azuma hurtling back into a large rock, the impact leaving a deep crater.

"W-what?" Azuma gasped, struggling to push himself to his feet. "Such speed…"

Gray didn't give him a chance to recover. "Not enough," Gray muttered, removing his coat, which fell to his waist, held in place by his belt. The black markings spread across his right arm, his power radiating in a dark, suffocating wave. His hair slicked back, he stepped forward with an unrelenting purpose.

Azuma - (Great Tree Arc + Full Power) - 332 Million MPL

Azuma's eyes widened as he took a step back, fear creeping into his expression. "This is it, kid," he sneered, his own aura bursting into life. A dark green magic surged around him, crackling in the air.

"Ice Devil's Zero Claw!" Gray roared. He lunged at Azuma, his arm transforming as a massive ice claw formed around his right hand. With a swift motion, Gray slashed across Azuma's stomach, drawing blood as his claws dug deep into the man's flesh. Without hesitation, Gray slammed his fist into Azuma's chest, sending him flying.

Gray Fullbuster - (Devil Slayer + Demon Mark + Slightly Suppressed) - 401 Million MPL

Azuma staggered to his feet, stunned by the speed and power Gray displayed. This wasn't what he had expected. "W-what...?" Azuma's voice was ragged. "How? This… this isn't possible."

Gray's eyes glowed fiercely as he raised his arm, causing the air around them to freeze. The ice spread rapidly, covering the ground and even the ships sent by the council—those cowardly fools who had hoped to paint Fairy Tail as villains after their humiliation during Bayle's Invasion.

The cold was suffocating, the chill biting deep into Azuma's bones as he struggled to stand. Gray walked slowly toward him, his movements deliberate, his rage consuming him.

Azuma's mind raced as he clutched his wounds. "This-this can't be! We were wrong! They aren't prey! They're monsters!"

His lips trembled as he spoke, his voice shaking with fear. "Y-you're… you're not the mages we thought you to be! You're a monster—"

Gray raised his claw high, his eyes burning with an unholy light. "Wrong," he snarled, his voice dripping with malice. "I'm a fucking Demon."

With a roar, Gray brought his claw down on Azuma. The freezing air around them exploded as the claw connected, and Azuma's scream was swallowed by the raging storm of fury that enveloped them both.

Gray Fullbuster was consumed by his anger, and Azuma was nothing more than an outlet for his rage. No mercy, no hesitation. He was going to take it all out on Azuma and the rest of Grimoire Heart.

They had made a grave mistake in underestimating the Fairy Tail mages. Gray wasn't just a mage—he was a force of nature, and he was ready to bring hell down on his enemies.
