(A/N): Hey Guys! Now, the last chapter had Brooke's PoV (first one, I think?) And this one has Jo's PoV, which has definitely never been done.

Disclaimer: I own nothing you recognise.

Jo

Dying was not as pleasant as everyone tried to make it out to be.

It was not 'just like falling asleep', it was agonising and terrifying, and all I could think when I was bitten was, 'Thank god it's over.'

But then it wasn't.

Through blistering pain and pure darkness, I realised that it wasn't over, far from it.

The thing that had attacked me in the woods... wasn't just killing me.

After blacking out who knows how long in, I woke up with my work uniform plastered to my skin in blood and sweat... My blood.

"You're awake." That's when I met Jerremyah.

He told me he wasn't my 'sire'- he had smelt spilt blood and vampire venom and come running. Apparently, this wasn't the first time he had picked up a stray like me, considering he had a newly made male vampire with him- Danniel.

I didn't get along with the other young vampire at first, our personalities meshed too harshly for us to be friends, but since we had met, we were growing closer to be what Lisbet and the others called us- Twins.

Maybe we'd never be friends, but we were like siblings now.

The older, over protective siblings to the reckless little brother, Leo.

Well...

Danniel was, anyway.

With everyone coming after Leo during the summer, and the few we hadn't told him about during the year, we all felt the need to protect him, and that meant being a strong, cohesive team.

"Danniel, you fucking bastard!" I heard Lisbet screech from the other side of the house, and I rolled my eyes. He had probably raided her stash again- he never learned not to 'borrow' from the older vampire, and she never learned to hide her shit better.

"Take it outside!" Even though we knew Leo wouldn't care, all grudge matches containing vampires were to be held outside, to lower the risk of furniture being destroyed.

Snapping my book shut I moved to stand, scenting out Shari and heading for the bedroom she had set up camp in.

Nicholai's old room.

It didn't take me too long to reach the room, due to my new vampire speed- which was flipping awesome, by the way- and I didn't bother hesitating to knock.

If Shari didn't know I was here, she needed her ears checked.

"Hey, Sweetie..." I greeted quietly, like I always did, banging the door shut behind me.

Shari was silent- As she had been since Leo had left for school- and I climbed onto the bed next to her.

"They're fighting again." I said, shaking my head lightly.

Coming from a family full of yellers, I was used to that by now, but... The fighting was new.

I didn't like hurting people, it went against everything in my nature- at least, it used to.

Since I had been sired, I found myself wanting to rip, to tear, to kill.

It was quite strange, like I was an entirely new person... But I wasn't. I just had an animalistic voice inside my head, no big deal.

Except, even Leo, being only roughly quarter human, triggered the voice. I constantly wanted to kill one of my best friends, and even though I knew he could handle it, could fight me off, I didn't want to compromise our relationship by attempting to kill him.

Although, knowing Leo, he probably wouldn't really care.

"I miss Leo." I sighed, and Shari nodded, showing that she was at least paying attention. "Is it hard? Having him around? Leo, I mean." Shari hesitated for a second, then nodded again. "I bet it is, because Leo inherited a lot of Nicholai's traits..." Shari's head snapped up.

"Don't talk about him like that!" I cocked an eyebrow at her.

"Like what? Like he's dead?" I expected Shari to deflate, but instead launched herself at me, knocking me clear off the bed and through an end table.

"Don't you fucking say that, you little cow!" My eyes widened in surprise as she wrapped her hands around my throat, and I thought they were shaking, but it was my growl reverberating through my skin and into hers.

"Get a fucking grip on yourself, Shari!" I yelled back, forever gladdened that I no longer needed to breathe.

I couldn't fight her off, she was too strong, but since she didn't have a stake on hand, I figured I'd be fine, for now at least.

Then, my back was off the floor, and her hands were gone from around my throat- then I crashed through an armoire.

"Fuck-" I briefly felt her hands fist in the front of my shirt, then I was thrown through one of the bed posts.

She stood at the end of the bed, chest heaving with unnecessary breaths, and I held my hands up in surrender.

"Shari, it's just me." I reminded her quietly, warily watching her face turn from vicious to heartbroken. "It's me, I'm here." I held out my arms, and she was in them a split second later.

She sobbed against me, and I rested my hand on the back of her head.

She was never going to fully recover from this, was she?

(A/N): So, what did you think?

I'm considering making a chapter set in the past- yes, a flashback- from when Nicholai and Shari met, because I kind of miss him.

Please review and/or check out my other stories!

This chapter has had minor edits made to it on 31/12/22 - Because I originally said vampires couldn't cry, and I've since changed my mind. I also added in Jo presuming that Danniel pilfered Lisbet's stash, to give context for the fight.
