Two-year-old twins having a temper tantrum was… a lot to deal with, even for an experienced, not to mention immortal, Torchwood field agent accustomed to handling fractious Weevils, and aggressive aliens intent on invading the planet. In fact, when he thought about it, Ianto would have far preferred to be facing either of those options rather than his own toddler son and daughter. He had a feeling it would be a lot less stressful. Aliens could be reasoned with; toddlers being denied something they wanted couldn't.
"No," he said flatly, in a calm but implacable tone. "No matter how much you scream and cry, the answer's still no, and if you don't calm down, we won't be going to the park this afternoon." Unfortunately, that last part only served to make the twins cry harder.
A nearby shopper who looked like she might be a grandma smiled sympathetically. "You've got your hands full with those two."
"Don't I know it. Their older sister was never like this, she was an absolute angel at this age, and now I'm stuck with a pair of demons. I'm seriously thinking about returning them for a refund."
The twins went silent.
"No, Taddy, please!"
