Well, here it is, the twenty-fifth part of the fifth and final installment in my 'Heart' series on the right day as promised. Dawn's won her first Alola Contest so the main reason for her and Ash to be in Alola is already done but that means that they are ahead of schedule for once. To add to it Ash's challenge from Gladion still hasn't happened and won't for a bit so they've got some time to kill which means its exploring time with Iris. What could possible happen when they explore the wilds of Alola? That is all the administrative stuff I have for this Part and as there are no guest reviews to respond to or questions to answer I will leave this off here but do please keep your reviews coming as I love hearing from y'all. That is it for this pre-Part note which means that it is once again time to sit back which and enjoy the latest installment in Heart of Champions. Part CCXIV: Spurning the Specialist.

Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon.

Part CCXIV: Spurning The Specialist

"Alright, this should be a good place to camp." Iris said as she led Ash and Dawn into a clearing in the forest that covered a good portion of Melemele Island. "I think we camped here sometime last year."

"You think?" Dawn asked as they came to a halt in the clearing. "You don't actually know?"

"We camped out a lot last year so all the clearings look similar." Iris said with a shrug as she dropped her bag and plopped down on the ground to get what she needed out of it. "It doesn't matter, we've got a few days to explore the inland of Melemele and my Pokedex can locate the Pokémon School so it's not a big deal where we camp because we can easily find out way back when it's time to head there."

"I don't mind." Ash said as Pikachu hopped off his shoulder and he began to pull out the compact folding table that he was carrying to set up their dinner. "Plus it's traditional to just camp out wherever we want when we're not in a Pokémon Center."

"True." Dawn said as she set down her bag and Piplup hopped off her head. "Alright then let's set up for the evening."

It was two days since Dawn had won the Iki Town Contest over Jessilina and they were finally exploring the inland part of Melemele Island. They'd spent the night of the Contest in the Pokémon Center celebrating the win and chatting to enjoy the moment. It had been a well-earned win, Jessilina and her Mimikyu had really pushed her, and Dawn was thrilled that she'd accomplished her goal in Alola right off the bat as it gave her some time to relax and enjoy the region a bit before they left for the next region she needed to hit.

They couldn't stay for long, two weeks at most really, because of the time that Dawn had taken to get her Kalos Ribbon had eaten into the schedule and with other longer stays in regions like Unova they needed to make up time wherever they could but she wanted to make the most of it. Two weeks was good though as Gladion, according to Lillie, was still on Poni Island training for another week at least so it would be two before he was ready to face Ash to culminate their trip so that gave them a few days for Iris to take them around Melemele Island and show it off to the couple she'd been instrumental in setting up.

After that they'd return to the Pokémon School and meet up with the others to decide the next step in their time in Alola. They'd spend the time that Ash, Dawn, and Iris were out to find the next Contest as it would be on a different island so they could go to it, show off at least a bit of that island to Ash and Dawn if there was time, and then return for the battle with Gladion.

All of this had been planned the day before in the Pokémon Center and then the others had gotten on the minibus and returned to the school while the trio spent another night in Iki Town making sure that they head everything for a few nights in the woods. Their plan was simple, spend at most 4 days wandering the island as they made their way back to the school and see what adventures they had along the way, which knowing Ash was bound to involve at least one new capture and maybe a legendary encounter. It was just like old times and something that Ash and Dawn wanted to experience in Alola.

"Is there any news on the next Contest?" Dawn asked as they worked to set up the camp for the night and let out her Pokémon so that they could play before they ate.

"They no doubt have the location." Iris said. "If I had to guess it will be on Akala Island. That's the island to the east of here right next to Melemele. It's where Kiawe is from by the way so he knows it well which will help when we go there."

"Sounds good to me, I'm just glad we get to experience at least two islands while here." Dawn said. "Though will it be town or location based? Just curious, I don't mind either way."

"Town if I had to guess." Iris said. "The last Contest there was location based so they usually alternate the locations to keep things different though the sponsored Contests are done whenever the sponsors can make them work so those tend to be more unpredictable. Not sure which town or city it will be in though. We'll know when we get back and the girls tell us where. They'll be training hard for it as you really inspired them Dawn so it will be good."

"I'm happy that I can help them but you should train hard as well." Dawn said as she let out Popplio and Dragalge, she'd sent the others back to Ash's chateau in Kalos after the Contest as she was trying to stick with new captures whenever possible but with Iris around having Dragalge on her was a good idea. "I will too, it's time that Popplio got some training so that I can use it in a Contest in the next region we go to."

"Popplio." Popplio said happily clapping his flippers and nodding, he'd loved what he'd seen in the Contest the other day and couldn't wait to compete in one, and show up Piplup in it. "Popplio."

"Piplup." Piplup said thumping his chest as he was the expert here so he'd show Popplio the ropes, and make it clear that he was Dawn's top Pokémon. "Pip, Piplup."

"Oh I will but I can't get over being around such a prized dragon type." Iris gushed as she fawned over Dawn's Dragalge. "It's the one I really wanted to catch when we were in Kalos, or at least it's pre-evolved form, but I didn't unfortunately. I'm so jealous that you got one Dawn."

"Axew." Axew said with a nod coming up to his fellow dragon type, he too liked that there was one dragon around that wasn't weak to those fairies and could actually counter them with ease.

"He is great, isn't he." Dawn said with a smile.

"That he is, I really need to get one or a dragon and steel type though the only one of those that I've heard about is native to Galar." Iris said as she pulled put her Poke Balls. "Alright everyone, come on out it's time for dinner, light training, and fun."

At that Iris let out the Pokémon that she had on her. Those were her Drampa, Altaria, Excadrill, Emolga, and Gible, the latter getting a wary look from Piplup but it wasn't Ash's, which was now a Garchomp, so he wasn't too worried about it. Her Exeggutor was too big even for here and her Dragonite still had some minor attitude issues and could be a problem, especially with a fairy type around. Speaking of said fairy type, Iris shuddered as a chill ran down her spine the moment that Ash let out his own Pokémon, which include his Florges.

She was getting better at being around fairy types, it helped that Lana had a Primarina so Iris was getting mor accustomed to them, but it was still a work in progress. This excursion would only add to it as Ash's Florges would always on him due to being a new capture so she had to put up with the fully evolved fairy type. It helped that Florges was kind and was a great mother to the group but Iris's fear of fairies, something most of her Pokémon shared though at least Excadrill had a steel type which reassured them, did hinder things a bit though Axew at least was warming up to Florges.

That would be an added benefit of this excursion, getting Iris more acclimated to fairy types especially because if she ever did manage to Mega Evolve her Altaria it would change its flying type to a fairy type so she really did need to be used to them. Florges would also do her part to show that fairy types weren't bad, which also helped her continue to atone for her past actions, and in that vein she went over to make sure the small Pokémon were doing well while Ash prepared dinner for himself, Dawn, and Iris.

"Alright let's start with a bit of training so that you know the basics." Dawn said. "Popplio, as a water type just follow Piplup's lead. We'll go over appeals for the moment as that's where we'll start. The goal is to have you appeal ready for the next Contest I enter which should be easy as it's at least three weeks off."

"Popplio." Popplio said with a nod.

"Good then…" Dawn began but before she could finish there was a rustle from a nearby bush that got their attention.

They all turned to it and as they did a Pokémon walked out and began to make its way towards them. The moment it did Iris let out a squeal of joy at it her eyes wide at seeing it here.

The Pokémon had been tailing the human female since the end of that event that she liked to watch waiting for this very moment. At first the girl had gone with the male she was clearly mating with, two other males, and four other females to that place that cared for Pokémon and humans and remained there for the night after the event. As a wild Pokémon, at the moment, she couldn't go in so she found a place to wait in secret and watched for the blue haired girl to leave, well the long blue haired girl as another blue haired girl was there as well but she already knew which one she was going to try and approach.

Unfortunately that wasn't possible the next day as three of the females and two of the males, the non-mating males and the females who'd not participated in the event the Pokémon noted, did leave which just left the female she wanted to approach, her mate, and a girl with a stupid amount of hair for a human in which an Axew seemed to live for some reason. That human certainly had a preference for a specific type, she'd noticed that in the event, but she lacked the skill and grace to teach the event itself and that was what the Pokémon wanted, a skilled teacher to show her how to do all that.

Thankfully she'd found just that with the winner and the blue haired girl was beyond her expectations. The Pokémon had watched many of these events on this island since they first cropped up, though only the ones in Iki Town or the wilderness, and none had compared to the blue haired girl, though the woman with the magenta hair was close but something felt slightly off about her so the Pokémon dismissed her. The blue haired girl though had a kind heart and skills so she was perfect. All the Pokémon needed was the opportunity and finally it had come.

She'd followed them all day since they left the Pokémon place, center if she heard correctly, and waited until now to make her move. Over that time she learned that the human she wanted to approach was called Dawn, the other female was called Iris, and the male was Ash and the three Pokémon who were not in Poke Balls were their respective starters, Piplup, Axew, and Pikachu.

Admittedly that wasn't a big concern to her, no her concern was approaching Dawn and as such the moment they set up camp in the clearing and got settled she walked out of the bushes looking right at Dawn. It was time for the girl to prover herself and show that she could train the Pokémon in that beautiful art though she was startled by the squeal from the other human female.

The squeal threw Dawn off for a moment as the Pokémon came out of the bushes and walked into the clearing before stopping at the squeal as well but Dawn quickly got over it to study the new Pokémon. Thankfully Iris's squeal gave Dawn the moment to do so as the Pokémon blinked at the sound.

It was small, around 2 feet in height, and quadrupedal with a light gray face, neck, back and tail and dark gray underbelly, chest and legs that ended in three yellow claws on each foot. It also had a large, yellow heart shaped scale on its head, another oval scale on the top of its tail that was also yellow and three gray scales on each side of its chest with pale yellow tips. Finally there was a white tuft thing in the center of its chest.

Dawn had absolutely no idea what the Pokémon was, which meant that it had to be an Alolan native Pokémon and one that wasn't too common, but given Iris's reaction and wide eyes brimming with happiness it had to be one thing, a dragon type. That was interesting to say the least as Dawn thought she'd seen all the Alolan dragon types, well the ones that weren't ultra beasts, between Iris's Drampa and Exeggutor and Kiawe's Turtonator but apparently not and she pulled out her Pokedex to scan it.

"Jangmo-o, the Scaly Pokémon." The Pokedex chimed as it scanned the Pokémon before her. "They live in mountains where no trace of humans can be detected. Jangmo-o grow little by little as they battle one another."

"Huh it looks like it's out of its natural habitat as we're not in the mountains." Dawn noted as she put her Pokedex away though not before also confirming that it was indeed a dragon type. "I wonder why."

"I don't care why!" Iris said happily. "Do you know how long I've been looking for this specific Pokémon! Well it or its evolved forms but still I've been dying to see any of them. Of course you and Ash being here finally brings it out! Ahhhh! This is great!"

"Well if I didn't check I'd already know it was a dragon type from your reaction." Dawn said while Ash seemed to be oblivious as he made dinner though all his Pokémon were now watching this with a mix of indifference, intrigue, and in Florges's case confusion until Pikachu explained that this was normal for them. "But it's got to be more, right?"

"It's Alola's version of Pokémon like Dratini, Bagon, Gible, Deino, Goomy, and Dreepy." Iris said excitedly. "And whatever they have in Paldea which I bet is dragon type as well as those Pokémon almost always ar. I guess you can consider Larvitar and Beldum in that as well but I don't."

"I see so it's the powerful non-legendary Pokémon that each region has one of." Dawn said. "Except Hoenn, they have two for some reason."

"Well that's actually reserved for its final form, Kommo-o, but yes it is the first of that line." Iris said now bouncing on her feet. "And this species is unique to all other dragon type evolutionary lines."

"How so?" Dawn asked as Jangmo-o made its way towards them having been a little startled by the squeal but now past it and moving again. "I know nothing about it. I'm sure you've mentioned it before but I forgot."

"Well for one Kommo-o has a specialized Z-Crystal just like Pikachu, Mimikyu, and the final forms of the Alolan starters." Iris said surprising Dawn. "But beyond that, when Jangmo-o evolves into Hakamo-o, it's middle form, adds a fighting type. It's evolved forms are the only dragon and fighting types out there. Well the only one that I know of as there may be some legendary Pokémon that are that that we don't know about. Course then it falls into the same issue as Deino and its evolutionary line being weak to those vile…"

"Florges." Florges said angrily glaring at Iris.

"Er, charming fairy types." Iris said nervously. "Sorry, still working on it."

"Florges." Florges said narrowing her eyes at Iris but leaving it at that, she was nothing compared to Florges's trainer, hers was a Champion and Iris would likely never amount to that so Florges would leave her be. "Flor, Florges."

"Huh, interesting." Dawn said ignoring the exchange. "That's pretty cool and definitely a type combo that I've never heard of before. Why is it here though?"

"Obviously it's here for me, it saw my dragon types and can tell that I know how to bring out the best in them." Iris said going towards Jangmo-o arms wide. "Come here baby, I'm a dragon master and I can show you all the…"

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o said with a turn of its head and a clear dismissal of Iris as it turned and walked straight to Dawn.

"What, why?" Iris said tears flowing from her now white eyes as she was frozen her arms still wide while Dawn blinked. "I'm a dragon specialist."

"Me?" Dawn said pointing at herself as Jangmo-o walked up to her. "You came to see me?"

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o said with a smile and a nod as she stopped before Dawn.

"Um, ok." Dawn said surprise. "Did you follow me here from Iki Town?"

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o said with a nod and now that she saw Dawn's Pokémon she was even more excited as she recognized a fellow dragon type with Dawn so Dawn knew how to raise her type which only added to her appeal. "Jangmo-o."

"Ok that's oddly not surprising." Dawn said. "Though this is a first for a Pokémon that I've never met before."

"Yeah it happened in Unova with Ash's Krookodile, well as a Sandile and then a Krokorok having evolved in Ash's presence." Iris said somewhat recovering from the fact that the one dragon type line that had been eluding her since coming to Alola was finally here and seemed to only be interested in Dawn. "He followed us from right at the start of our journey before we even met Cilan. Must have covered most of the region before he finally reappeared and after another battle, which he lost to Pikachu, he began to leave but Ash asked him to join his team and he accepted."

"Yeah that was a wild story when Ash told me it and it happened to me in Kanto as well." Dawn said. "I met this cute Shuppet in Lavender Town and played with him while Ash and Krookodile in fact sorted out the Gengar in the Pokémon Tower there. He then followed me and Ash all the way through Kanto, to Hoenn and back when we went there for the Wallace Cup, and then revealed himself on an island to save me from a Spiritomb we ran into there. That's how I caught both him and my Spiritomb in fact."

"Woah so that's how you got that Pokémon." Iris said not entirely shocked that Dawn's capture of her Spiritomb was a slightly crazy story. "I forgot that was how it went down. It's no wonder you're not surprised at this."

"Yeah though this is different as I've never seen this Jangmo-o, or any other for that matter before." Dawn said. "Er, why did you follow me?"

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o said as she backed up a bit and then began to mimic how Furfrou had danced in the appeal the other day and Dawn had to admit despite the size differences it wasn't a bad imitation of Furfrou's dance though clearly Jangmo-o didn't have the moves to properly mimic it.

"You watched the Contest that I was in?" Dawn asked. "That's what that's called by the way."

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o said with a nod as she stopped dancing and looked at Dawn again.

"Was that your first?" Dawn asked. "Contest I mean."

"Jangm-o." Jangmo-o said shaking her head.

"So you've seen a few then." Dawn said.

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o confirmed with another nod.

"I take it that you like them then." Dawn said.

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o said with a third nod.

"And you followed me because you saw me in one?" Dawn asked to confirm her suspicions.

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o said with a nod which led to one final question.

"Why?"

At that Jangmo-o thrust her head at Dawn and then did her best to gesture to herself though she was limited by her physiology before she started to dance again only this time she let out a shock wave into the air that had to be a Dragon Pulse attack that shot into the air as she danced. It was a little crude but it was clearly an attempt to show how a move worked in an appeal and Dawn blinked at that.

"Did you get that?" Iris asked sliding over to be next to Dawn while Ash continued to make the food behind them so focused on it that he'd not noticed what was going on. "Because I didn't."

"Yeah I think so." Dawn said looking to Jangmo-o who'd stopped moving around and was back to looking at Dawn. "I think that this Jangmo-o really likes Contests, likely saw them when they appeared in Alola and fell for them the way some Pokémon do as I've heard that Serena's Pancham was similar only with Showcases not Contests, and wanted to do them. However, if I had to guess no one met this Jangmo-o's standards."

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o said with a nod having been listening to the humans so she confirmed what Dawn had said.

"That actually makes sense." Iris said surprising Dawn. "From what I've read and heard while here, and that's a lot as this is a Pokémon I've been trying to find for ages, Jangmo-o has the pride of a warrior though it is humble about it. It never neglects its training in its pursuit to get stronger so no doubt it saw you as the strongest Coordinator, one that was up to its standards, and sought you out for more training. That would explain why it went for you not me as it's focused on what you can offer for Contests and not what I can offer as a dragon type specialist. After all, you are a talented Top Coordinator."

"Huh that would explain a lot." Dawn said looking at Jangmo-o impressed by its nature. "So do you want me to be your trainer and help you learn Contests so that you can get stronger for them? I'd love to use you in them and I'm good at what I do."

"Piplup." Piplup confirmed as Dragalge nodded in agreement as well. "Pip, Piplup."

"Popplio." Popplio added though he was just saying that Dawn was kind and understood Pokémon and thus vouched for choosing her as Jangmo-o's human.

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o said with a nod but then she turned and thrust her head at Piplup and issued a challenge. "Jangmo-o."

"Piplup?" Piplup asked shocked at the challenge that Jangmo-o had issued but pleased that this Pokémon understood that he was Dawn's best. "Pip, Piplup?"

"I see, you do want to join but you want me to prove myself to you directly." Dawn said understanding now. "To really make sure that I'm strong enough to train you."

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o said with a nod.

"And to do so I should use Piplup to battle you because he won the Contest you saw." Dawn said and again Jangmo-o nodded at Dawn's words. "And if I win you'll let me catch you."

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o said with yet another nod which made Iris even more jealous of Dawn though she was also thrilled that her friend got this chance as Jangmo-o would be a great Pokémon to have in her roster.

"Very well then lets do this." Dawn said with a smile. "I can't resist a challenge like that now can I? You ready Piplup?"

"Piplup." Piplup said confidently taking a step to be in front of Dawn while Iris and the other Pokémon, including all of Ash's, backed up to watch the battle unfold.

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o aid with a smile as she backed up as well never turning her back on her enemy until she had a good starting distance between them similar to what she'd seen in the Contest battle.

"No point in wasting anytime." Dawn said as she thrust her arm out. "Piplup, start us off with Drill Peck."

"Piplup!" Piplup said as his beak elongate and he leapt forward and at Jangmo-o before spinning in the air.

Jangmo-o wasn't idle and the moment Dawn started the battle she rushed forward her head lowered and charged to intercept Piplup with a Headbutt. Dawn knew the move, Piplup used to know it, so she recognized it but before she could tell Piplup he reached Jangmo-o and they slammed into each other with a boom, his beak pressing against the scale atop Jangmo-o's head.

The collision lasted for a few seconds as the two small, first stage, Pokémon pushed on each other. In the end Piplup's years of training and experience won out and he broke through the Headbutt just as the Drill Peck was ending and his beak hit the point on Jangmo-o's head just below the scale.

The moment it did Jangmo-o let out a wail of pain, though as she'd yet to evolve she wasn't weak to flying type attacks thankfully, and staggered back slightly. However, she was far from done and as she did her tail glowed with dragon type power and she whipped it around with surprising grace and slammed it into Piplup's face as he landed on his feet before her.

"It knows Dragon Tail." Dawn noted as Piplup wailed and was blasted back as Jangmo-o brought her tail back never once turning her back on Piplup. "Time to break out our best move for this battle, Ice Beam!"

"Piplup!" Piplup roared as he opened his beak while flying back and the ice formed there.

Then just as Jangmo-o was lowering her head for a follow up Headbutt the ice type attack shot out of Piplup's mouth while he was still in the air and tore across the makeshift battlefield to hit Jangmo-o right on the nose. Jangmo-o howled in pain from the super effective attack as Piplup managed to land on his feet and slid over the grass pleased with the hit.

However, it wasn't enough to down Jangmo-o and the dragon type opened it's mouth and unleashed a shock wave that was Dragon Pulse. Dawn and Piplup had seen this before and she already had a plan to counter it.

"Spin and then use Drill Peck again." Dawn ordered.

"Piplup." Piplup replied as the shock wave came towards him.

As it did his beak glowed and elongated before he turned on his right foot and gracefully spun off to the side so that the Dragon Pulse shot passed him. As soon as it was past and he was facing forward again he planted his feet and pushed off it leaping at Jangmo-o as he began to spin in the air.

Jangmo was impressed by this, this was just the kind of grace she wanted to achieve and the move also allowed Piplup to close in before she could move so that his beak slammed into her chest right where the white bit was and staggered her back. The hits were piling up but Jangmo-o wasn't done yet and as Piplup landed in front of her she lowered her head and thrust herself forward scale front and center as she drove home her Headbutt attack.

This time it didn't wasn't intercepted and overpowered by Piplup as he was too close to get a move off in time, nor was Dawn fast enough with an order, so the Headbutt hit him in the face and he was staggered back by it creating a distance between them. That was just what Jangmo-o needed as she heightened her mental focus and unleashed the power that was Focus Blast.

Jangmo-o knew that it was a risk, this was an attack that she'd recently learned and had limited control over. In fact she had basically no control over it though it was her strongest hence why she used it but that wasn't apparent at first as the attack flew at Piplup. It wasn't the most accurate move to begin with so if it missed it shouldn't be noticed, well normally it wouldn't but rather than just twitching and missing it instead veered unnaturally off to the side.

That showed that there was an issue with the move but that wasn't the big thing about the miss. No, that was reserved for the move flying right at Pikachu where he stood with the other Pokémon watching the battle.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu yelled leaping up in surprise and as he did the ball of Focus Blast twitched up and followed him so that it slammed into his front full on and he was blasted back with a wail.

"Hey, what's…" Ash began, he'd been sorting out dinner so hadn't noticed what was going on but he heard the sounds of battle and had come to investigate it as he had to let the water reach a boil but before he could Pikachu was blasted back and into his face.

The force of the impact sent Ash flying back and crashing to the ground in a heap with swirls for eyes as an equally swirled eyed and confused Pikachu lay on him moaning as Florges turned and hurried over to make sure that they were both ok. The moment that Piplup saw that he burst out laughing where he was. At long last Ash was getting a taste of their own medicine when it came to moves that missed and it seemed that the homing target was Pikachu. It served him right for all that Piplup had had to deal with between Ash's Gible, Dratini, and Goomy and their evolved forms.

"Piplup, don't get distracted." Dawn called out but it was already too late.

Before Piplup could realize, Jangmo-o used the distraction to make Piplup pay for laughing at the miss by blasting out a second Dragon Pulse. This time the shock wave landed with ease as Piplup was distracted at Pikachu's plight and hit him in the chest sending him flying back and crashed to the ground in a heap only a few feet in front of Dawn. As he did Jangmo-o charged forward head lowered with another Headbutt ready.

"Piplup, leap up and over it and then use Ice Beam again." Dawn said, she'd tell Piplup off for getting distracted later, the moment that he hit the ground. "We've got this."

"Piplup." Piplup grunted out as he got to his feet, he deserved that for his unprofessionalism but it had been worth it to laugh at Ash's misfortune and to make up for that he'd end this now.

It was going to be close but Piplup didn't pride himself on being Dawn's best for nothing, a claim he had to live up to in this battle to really show it off to Jangmo-o, and so the moment he got to his feet he leapt up and forward just as Jangmo-o reached him and thrust her head forward so that he leapt over her causing her to miss while Piplup activated his own attack. He wasn't done and as he was in the air he turned, beak open with a ball of ice type power already in it, before he blasted off the Ice Beam at Jangmo-o's back.

Jangmo-o didn't have time to turn and face her foe like she should before the super effective attack slammed into the center of her back causing it to arc from the impact. As it did she let out a wail of pain as she took a second super effective attack and was pushed past her limits causing her to collapse forward pretty close to Dawn's feet.

However, as she passed out she smiled because that had been a gracefully display and move to land the hit, Dawn was certainly more that worthy to be her human and Jangmo-o knew that she'd made the right choice in seeking her out as she hit the ground and lay on her belly legs splayed and swirls for eyes. As she did Piplup landed behind her still facing her smirking at his success and victory. Jangmo-o was good so he was more than willing to accept it as one of Dawn's Pokémon and he couldn't wait to see what Jangmo-o brought to the team.

Neither could Dawn as she smile and pulled out a Poke Ball before stepping forward and crouching down to tap it on Jangmo-o's head scale. The moment it did it opened and a flash of red light shot out to hit Jangmo-o and suck it into the Poke Ball before it closed and she turned it around in her hand and watched the center button flash red and shake. It did so for a few moments before it clicked and became still confirming the capture.

"Alright, I caught a Jangmo-o." Dawn said as she rose to her full height before raising her Poke Ball above her in triumph while Iris clapped a little jealous and Ash and Pikachu continued to moan on the ground where they were as Florges fussed over Pikachu though the girls didn't realize that as they'd been focused on the battle and Dawn's subsequent capture of Jangmo-o.

"I can't believe you've got one." Iris said as Dawn lowered her arm and opened the Poke Ball to let her new Jangmo-o out looking a lot better than she had in the fight but still in need of a bit of a pick-me-up that Dawn would give her as soon as possible. "So lucky."

"I know, I can't wait to train you." Dawn said as she crouched down and rubbed Jangmo-o's head while Jangmo-o nuzzled into it. "But first let's eat and introduce you to the team."

"Jangmo-o." Jangmo-o said with a nod.

Dawn smiled and with that she picked up Jangmo-o and brough it over to Popplio, and Dragalge while Piplup followed on still supremely proud with his victory as Dawn began to introduce Jangmo-o to its new teammate as the sun set overhead. This was their first day of exploration in Alola and already Dawn had a new capture, her second of her time here, so she couldn't wait to see what other adventures were in store for them as they continued to explore the Alola region.

I think that's a good place to end this short, sorta transition, chapter with Dawn catching her latest Pokémon and her first potential pseudo-legendary Pokémon at that. I hope that it was a surprise that Jangmo-o was the Pokémon that Dawn got and you'll see plenty more of it in the chapters to come. There's still plenty more exploring and fun to be had in Alola though so a lot more to look forward to as we move towards the grand conclusion of the short Alola arc. That is all that I have to say, however, so I will end this Part off here.
