"Sorry, I'm late," Tom told the captain and Chakotay as he went to his station.
"Mr. Paris," Janeway said. Tom looked at the captain. "Why is there a spot on your uniform?"
Tom looked down and saw the spot that Janeway was talking about. "Yeah, James didn't like his breakfast of bananas," Janeway raised an eyebrow and nodded. Tom took his seat and tried to get the stain out of his uniform as best he could.
"Captain, we are getting a distress call ten light years away," Harry said.
Janeway traded a look with Chakotay before turning to Tom. "Set a course, Mr. Paris."
"Yes, ma'am," Tom put in the directions.
"Captain, we are coming up to the ship," Tom said.
Janeway turned to Harry. "Open a channel," Harry nodded when the channel was opened. "This is Captain Janeway of the Federation Starship Voyager. Please answer if you can hear me."
"I can hear you, Captain," The bridge heard a female voice.
"Viewscreen," Janeway said.
The screen turned on and they saw an alien woman with blond hair, her forehead was bigger than a humans, and she had long ears.
"What seems to be the problem?" Janeway asked.
"I can't seem to get my ship to wrap," The woman said.
"Can you get your ship in our shuttle bay. We may be able to help," Janeway smiled. The woman nodded. Janeway looked at Tom. "Meet her at the shuttle bay," Tom nodded and left the bridge.
Tom entered shuttle bay one when the woman was coming off her ship. Tom smiled at her and held out his hand. "Tom Paris."
"Horca," She bowed.
Tom took his hand back. "Let's have a look at your ship and see what can be done," Horca nodded and led Tom to her ship.
They spent the early morning seeing what was going on. Tom was stepping off the ship when he heard the Shuttle Bay One doors opening and saw B'Elanna come in. Tom smiled at her and was ready to say something when Horca stepped around the ship.
"Do you think…" She didn't finish when she saw B'Elanna. "Hello," Horca smiled.
"Oh," Tom smiled. "Horca this is our Chief Engineer B'Elanna Torres and B'Elanna this is Horca, she needs her ship fixed."
B'Elanna nodded at the young woman. "Ms. Torres," Horca said. "It is amazing to see a woman in an Engineering and to be running the whole department."
"It is pretty amazing," B'Elanna gave the young girl a smile. She turned to Tom. "Can I talk to you?"
Tom nodded and followed B'Elanna out of shuttle bay. The doors shut behind Tom. "You're not jealous, are you?" Tom stopped in front of B'Elanna. "You didn't see me at the morning briefing," Tom gave a half smile. "You heard about the ship and the alien woman," B'Elanna crossed her arms. Tom looked around before leaning down and kissing B'Elanna. "You have nothing to worry about. I love you."
"You better," B'Elanna mumbled. "I have four good reasons."
Tom leaned closer. "I know your four reasons, should I name them," B'Elanna raised an eyebrow. "Miral, Dexter, Gabby, and James."
B'Elanna placed her hands on Tom's chest. "You got that right," B'Elanna leaned up and kissed him. "I was just going to tell you to bring dinner home to your wife and four children," B'Elanna kissed him one more time before walking away.
Tom shook his head as he went back in the shuttle bay to see that Horca was watching him. "Everything okay, Tom?"
Tom smiled as he thought about his wife of almost ten years. He loved that she could still do that to him after all these years. He knew that she was jealous and was happy that she was jealous. Tom would bring dinner home. "Yeah, she just had to ask me something," Tom picked up a PADD to remember what he was doing.
Horca nodded. "I wanted to talk about…What is on your uniform?" She saw the banana stain.
Tom smiled. "My son didn't like his breakfast this morning."
Horca laughed. "You have a son?"
"Yes, I have four," Tom started telling her about his children for the rest of day.
Tom's personal PADD went off. Tom came out of the ship. He saw what time it was, he had to pick up dinner, and head home. Horca came out off the ship. Tom turned off his alarm. "Are you hungry?"
"Yeah," Horca smiled.
"Come, I'll take you to the mess hall," Tom headed for the doors. Horca followed him out. Tom led her to the mess hall. Neelix was behind the counter. He smiled at Tom. "Neelix, this is Horca, please make sure to take care of her," Neelix nodded. "Do you have the Paris-Torres dinner ready?"
"Right here," Neelix handed Tom his dinner.
Tom took the bag and turned to Horca. "Neelix will take care of you. I'll see you in the morning."
"You will not be having dinner with me?" Horca asked.
"No, dinner with the kids tonight," Tom held up his bag. Horca nodded and watched Tom walk out.
Neelix came up behind Horca. "He really is a great father," Horca looked, and he had a tray of food for her.
Horca took the tray. "Does he spend a lot of time with his children?" She found an empty table and took a seat.
"He does. Every night unless there is an emergency," Neelix smiled at her. Horca nodded before taking a bite of the food.
Tom entered his quarters, holding the bag of food out. "Don't kill me, I brought food," The kids ran from the sitting area calling his name. "Alright, take a seat," Tom moved around the kids as they went to take a seat around the table. B'Elanna came to the table carrying James. Tom placed the food on the table before reaching over and kissing B'Elanna. "Hello, love," B'Elanna raised an eyebrow before taking a seat. Tom took his own seat. "How was school?" Tom asked.
"We are doing a play about Voyager," Dexter smiled.
"Really," Tom traded a look with B'Elanna.
"And who are you playing?" Tom asked.
Dexter smiled. "I'm playing Chakotay."
Tom turned to Miral. "Are you in the play too?"
"Yeah, I'm playing someone called Seska."
Tom placed his fork down and looked at B'Elanna before turning to Miral. "What do you know about Seska?"
"That she was a friend of mom's and die before I was born."
"Okay," Tom said. He turned to Gabby. "Are you in the play?"
"Yeah," Gabby smiled.
"She is just a crew member," Miral mumbled.
Tom nodded. "When is the play?"
"Four months from now," Miral said.
Tom had to put the date in the back of his head. "They will be after school for an hour," B'Elanna said an in quiet voice. Tom nodded.
"Anything else happen at school today?" The kids told them about the rest of their day.
After the last of the kids were in bed, Tom took a seat on the couch, lifting B'Elanna in his lap. He didn't say anything and just held her. He had known that she needed this after hearing who their daughter who playing in the play. Whenever there was a mention of Shaska, B'Elanna would grow quiet. He learned early on in their relationship how to help her. Sometimes she would just want to be held and not say a word, but he would let her speak first is she wanted to talk.
"Why did they cast Miral as Seska? They should know our history," B'Elanna finally said after five minutes.
"I don't know but you could talk to the teacher doing the play," Tom tightened his arms around B'Elanna.
"No," B'Elanna sighed. "I don't want to ruin it for Miral."
"You could talk to Miral about it," Tom suggested another option.
"She only nine," B'Elanna sighed.
"She is smart like her mom," Tom kissed the side of B'Elanna's head.
"That's what scares me," B'Elanna mumbled. After a moment. "And what do I tell her," It was a little quiet.
"Tell her whatever you want," Tom ran a hand along her arm.
"Tell her that I thought Seska was a friend, even my best friend. How she betrayed us to an alien species? How hurt I felt about it?"
"Tell her whatever works for you," Tom knew that B'Elanna was going to have to have this conversation with Miral.
"You know what she told me after the first time I saw you," B'Elanna smiled a little.
"That I was cute in my Starfleet uniform," Tom smiled.
"No," B'Elanna laughed. "Before we met on Voyager."
"What?" Tom asked. He didn't think B'Elanna knew about him before Voyager. His wife was full of surprises.
"It was just before you were captured. I was new to Chakotay's ship. I was passing the bridge and saw this golden hair man at the helm. I thought he was cute but two minutes later Seska told me to leave you alone that you wouldn't last two weeks."
"You shouldn't have listened to her. We could have a love affair for the ages." Tom took a of her hands and kissed it. "I wonder what would happen if would have met there and not here."
"We might not have been on Voyager," B'Elanna laughed.
"True. I might not have been caught if I knew I had you gracing my bed," B'Elanna hit her husband. Tom took her hand. "We could have married and had a couple of kids, living on a planet where I am a farmer."
B'Elanna shook her head. "It didn't happen and I'm glad it didn't. We wouldn't be the people we are today," B'Elanna placed her hand on Tom's chest and leaned over to kiss him.
"True. I don't think I would be the same man that fell in love with you," Tom wrapped his arms around her. Tom leaned his head against B'Elanna and sighed. "We got off topic and I think you should talk to Miral about Seska."
B'Elanna sighed. "You're right," She gave him a look. "Don't let it go to your head."
Tom smiled. "Too late," Tom kissed her again. "I need for our kids to sleep in their own rooms."
"I see," B'Elanna wiggled her butt on Tom's lap.
"More like you felt," Tom whispered in her ear. B'Elanna had a look of innocence on her face. "We can show you what you felt."
B'Elanna laughed and stood up. "I'm sure you can but the last time we had sex in a shuttle we ended up with James," B'Elanna held out her hand for Tom to take. "Come on, Tom we have to be up in the morning with our four children."
Tom sighed and took B'Elanna's hand. They headed for their room. B'Elanna checked on James. Tom started to change. "Who idea was it to have four?"
B'Elanna started to change. "I have no idea only that we liked creating them."
Tom moaned and went to the bathroom to their bed. "It was nice when it was the two of us," Tom wrapped his arms around B'Elanna.
"It was but we wanted a family," B'Elanna kissed Tom before closing her eyes. Tom smiled. He had a good life with his wife and children. He pulled B'Elanna close and went to sleep.
Tom entered the shuttle bay to find Horca already there. "How was your night?" Tom asked.
"It was good," Horca said. "How was your night with your children?"
"It was good. They are going to be in a play for school," Tom smiled.
"A play?" Horca asked. She didn't know what a play was.
Tom laughed. "Have you heard of theatre where people act out different things."
"Oh, we have a different name for them," Horca smiled. "And your children are doing it."
"Yeah, it is about Voyager," Tom started working on the ship.
Once they figured out what was wrong, it didn't take long for them to fix the problem. "You can either stay the night and leave in the morning or you can leave this afternoon," Tom said.
"I want to thank you," Horca started for Tom. Tom thought that she was going to give him a hug but reached up and kissed him.
Tom pushed her back. "What the hell?" He asked. "I'm happily married."
Horca blushed. "Sorry, but your ring is a sign of being single."
Tom shook his head. He didn't want to hurt the young woman anymore. He took a sigh before saying. "In my culture a ring means you are married."
"Sorry in my culture it means you are single and ready for marriage. I figured with four children you needed a mother."
Tom laughed. "Their mother is alive and well. Their mother is the Chief Engineer."
"Oh," Horca said.
"We have been married for almost ten years and have been together for many years before," Tom smiled.
"I'm sorry," Horca frowned.
Tom needed to make this better for her. "Even if my wife was gone. I would never marry again because B'Elanna Torres is the love of my life."
Horca nodded. "I think I'll leave this afternoon."
Tom nodded. "I'll let the captain know," Tom headed out of the shuttle bay.
Tom watched as the shuttle bay doors closed. Horca was gone. He didn't know what to say. She was interested in him as a mate. Tom let out a little laugh, there was only one woman for him. Tom stepped out of the shuttle bay, and he knew where to go. He stopped at a replicator and order some roses.
Tom entered Engineering and looked around for B'Elanna. He didn't see her anywhere. Tom tapped a crewmember on the shoulder. "Where is Commander Torres?" The crewman pointed up. Tom nodded.
He stepped off the platform and saw B'Elanna working at her personal station. Tom held out the flowers as he made his way to her. B'Elanna looked up at the last moment and had flowers in her face.
She grabbed the flowers. "What are these for?" B'Elanna sniffed the flowers.
"I love you," Tom said. "And I just wanted to tell you how much."
B'Elanna lifted one eyebrow. "Your new friend left today."
"She did," Tom smiled. "She thought I was single."
"She did," B'Elanna leaned against her workstation.
"She thought that I needed a mother for our children."
"She did."
Tom narrowed his eyes. B'Elanna was up to something. "What are you doing?"
"Accepting these flowers from my husband, father of my children."
Tom leaned closer to B'Elanna. "She kissed me."
"Did she and did you enjoy it?" B'Elanna asked.
"No," Tom removed the flowers from B'Elanna's hands and placed them on her workstation. "The only woman who can make my head spin is you," Tom leaned down and kissed her. "I also told her that I would never marry again because I already have the woman, I want to spend the rest of my life with."
"Who?" B'Elanna asked.
"You," Tom growled.
B'Elanna laughed and wrapped her arms around him. "I never doubted you."
"You're going to be the death of me," Tom kissed her.
B'Elanna turned away from him. "Thank you for the flowers. I'll see you tonight at home."
Tom shook his head. "Do want me to pick up the children?"
"Yes," B'Elanna smiled.
Tom started for the lift. "How did you know nothing was going to happen when you didn't like me working with her yesterday."
"Neelix," B'Elanna turned to him. "I ran into him this morning and he was telling me about the customs of your friend because he spent the evening with her. He didn't say anything, just let her talk about you and told him about her plans to marry you. Neelix knew that you would never do anything with her, but he wanted me to know."
"I would never cheat on you or go off with another," Tom took a step away from the lift and towards her.
"I know and that is what I told Neelix. Tom, you told me that you wanted to be the man I wanted. You are and more. I didn't think I knew what I wanted until that moment we married so many years ago. Yes, I didn't like when she showed up and I thought the ship would take you more then a woman." Tom nodded. He knew that. B'Elanna placed her hands on Tom's chest. "Even with the ship here, you held me last night when we heard about Miral's part in the play." B'Elanna leaned up. "As I am the only woman for you. You are the only man for me. I love you, Tom Paris," B'Elanna kissed him one more time.
Tom smiled. "I love you, too," He kissed her one more time before stepping away. "I'll see you tonight," B'Elanna nodded and watched Tom go on the lift. She noticed the flowers and picked them up to smell them one more time before finding a vase and water for them.
