Authors Notes: Well? I am insane, four stories at once... the hell is wrong with this brain of mine. XD. Like I said a while back in my Profile, I aim to complete seven stories before retiring from Fan fiction, which I don't see being accomplished for a long time, but hell, four at a time, why not? XD. Zatch Bell always held a soft spot in my heart. The problem was this was back when anime wasn't extremely mainstream yet, and streaming networks didn't push anime yet. So my childhood of attempting to watch this damn series drove me insane, lol.

Yet eventually, I read the whole Manga online and was very happy with it. This will be one of my more interesting takes as it will continue the original Manga's ending, which, in the process of writing, I now have to correct in saying that this is a sequel to Zatch Bell, the original, and not including the elements of Zatch Bell 2 THAT I JUST RECENTLY DISCOVERED IS A THING LOL.

Yep, a thousand years after Zatch Bell won against Brago. It's not an AU(though now it is), but it is a legitimate continuation of the first Zatch Bell 1000 years later. I know that's a first for me. XD. In another chapter, I can gush in the author's note about my love of Zatch Bell. So for now, hopefully, enjoy.

Zatch Bell: The Silver Star

A continuation inspired by the original Manga and from a very fond youth memories of friendship when there was little to be had for a long while in his childhood

Zatch Bell: The Silver Star

Prologue

"We shouldn't have let it get to this point... there are better ways to assign a crown. There are less traumatic ways to let these children prove themselves. We could have avoided this if my friends had backed me up upon the final voting," a voice scowled yet laced with genuine concern as yellow eyes looked out over his kingdom, looking out into lands that had expanded and grown in a time of care between all clans. Zatch Bell held some agitation with his shifting blue robe, looking to the night sky, waiting for things to kick off.

"My king, you must remember you have achieved a lot through your 1000-year reign of kindness in the Mamodo World. You did so by giving everyone an equal voice, and those voices remembered how much we all grew from the tournament for the crown," a staunch but soft voice countered, walking out from the castle into the foray with his king. The new entity was a powerhouse of a golden knight-like entity covered by a golden shawl with a very noticeable horseshoe-like accessory around his neckline. With solid yellow eyes fixed on his king, Arth, the king's legal advisor, jabbed his blade into the ground using it like a cane.

"THEY ALL GOT A SAY CAUSE OF YOUR WELL-MADE AND GREAT LAWS THAT HELPED SMOOTH OVER THROUGH THIS JOURNEY OF OURS. CAUSE YOU'RE A AMAZING AND INTELLIGENT LAWMAKER WHO GUIDED ME WELL... and from my desire to make sure everyone got a say... ugh," Zatch passive-aggressively yelled with a bit of a passioned aggressive look, both complimenting and not trying to blame Arth for the spoken outcome, causing the knight to laugh at his friend's unchanged comedic personality. In the many years Arth had served under Zatch, nothing had changed. Sure, there was more maturity and a regal fist thrown when needed, but the king Of Mamodos had stayed very much the same... kind and willing to listen to others.

"Along with that, you tried to change a major part of our cultural ways on such an important concept that put yourself on the throne. The next era of Mamodo should follow a heart most tempered by this clash. Besides, at least many things about it were changed—no one under 16 years of age and no one unwilling to fight. I even heard you went over the candidates with ClockWork passing personalities you normally are against," Arth pointed out the things that had succeeded when a majority of his council had stonewalled Zatch while revealing he knew the king had stayed a close eye on the selection process. Zatch's mouth closed tight as he turned away, grumbling a bit before releasing a sigh.

"You got me there, I... I don't regret it, but I do regret how it was handled back then; I guess you are right that since we fixed that, I shouldn't complain much about it. My time ruling is nearing its end, and I still want to accomplish so much more in the name of peace," Zatch smiled.

"Of course, it's why we followed you so willingly. Kiyo would be proud of what you have accomplished," Arth smiled back.

"So would Elly. Though not everyone followed like those old stubborn bones at the fringe of our lands fixated with the older ways like my father," Zatch chimed with a lightly nervous chuckle.

"You knew you wouldn't win everyone over with peace, Zatch. Some people are just violent by nature alone, and remember, those who refused to adjust chose to self-isolate themselves. Besides, your Father respected your ruling, at least even if he wanted to demand you rethink things he would have thought twice," Arth's smile turned into a frown, thinking of a few particular clans in question. As the pair's thought lingered, a bell tolled, signaling midnight. Arth and Zatch turned to the sky as, slowly but surely, it started to fill with numerous wondrous colors of those soon to be sent out to the human world. As they began to float out into the sky, Zatch felt a malicious force as his and Arths close started to shift to an unnatural pull forward.

With a quick swing of his hand and eyes going white, Zatch released a wave of power.

"RASHIELD," an imposing wall of lightning with a red orb pierced by a bolt of lightning lifted from the ground, blocking a powerful tornado blast that came from nothing at short range, appearing as a mighty tempest that caused an unexpected collision wave of force as the spell fought for dominance. Zatch, somewhat shocked, could feel his spell struggling with the impacting winds as Arth pulled out his blade from the ground, only halted by Zatchs hand flinging out behind him.

"Do not attack. We might hit the books. WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW? " As his shield pulsed back the attack from the castle grounds, fifty books burst out from right underneath the ground, ripping asunder the very footing Zatch and Arth stood on. Each book was pure white and pulsed and twisted as it filled with colors. Upon completion, they would shoot off like rockets into the sky, quickly mixing in with the other hundred books already floating.

As Zatch jumped onto the castle's walls, he froze, knowing he would hit the other selected books if he took a shot. He was forced to watch as they disappeared. Arth quickly ran up the wall, returning to his kingside as they both looked out for any signs. Whoever had attacked them was gone, and the malicious intent once sensed wholly vanished without a trace.

"The Kings Festival has been breached. The combatants aren't going to be aware of who their fellow selected were, much less know that they face an unknown element," Arth hissed. Not only had someone attacked the current king, but now he was aiming to make a sin of a potential false king. Zatch was silent as all his bottled concerns now came to the tip of his mind. He didn't want to believe it, but he knew deep down.

This had been what he had been afraid of...
