on the night before the winter started, the daley family was getting really busy to prepare for vacation. everyone was really thrashing. all except their troubled son, scott.
scott was lying on his bed, wondering why his family are going on vacation. when suddenly, his dad went to the door and opened it.
he turned on the lights as he came into his room.
scott was in awe after that. "shut down the light," he told dad.
dad froze when his son said that. "get out," scott told him again.
dad walked to his bed in confusion. scott had his long-sleeved red shirt with black stripes on it, his blue and beautiful jeans, and his white laced shoes on his entire body. he looked quite of not in the mood to talk.
"so i say," dad said. "let's talk wonderland."
"let's not." scott snapped.
"let's say rabbit," dad said again.
"let's talk about something else," scott said. "like a folktale. but if u talk about my old father i'll deck ya. because josh is my father."
"josh is not your father," dad said to him. "i thought you would pack for vacation instead."
"where are we going for vacation?" scott asked.
"we are going to las vegas for vacation," dad said. "you never went there before."
scott has never been to nevada, not even when has little. but then he knew. he was going to las vegas, the biggest city in nevada if he believes. his mom had been to nevada a few times. dad has been to nevada lots of times before he was born. what he wanted now was peace.
"of course i didn't," scott said. "a lot of families went to nevada but us. why do we have to go on vacation?"
"because," said dad. "your mother was hoping for a winter vacation for 4 months, and she picked out that she wanted to go to las vegas again."
"whatever that is, it has to be a good trip." scott whispered to himself.
"get to packing, ok?" said dad again.
scott went up, opened his closet door, and began packing.
his luggage was all black, and it was very large so that his stuff could fit inside it. he had 3 of 57 of his pants inside, his 8 of 10 shirts, his basketball, and his teddy bear he had for a long time since he was a baby. after that, he went to sleep, waiting for another day to begin.
one morning, shelby went up to the daley family's door. mom opened the door and welcomed her in. she then hugged scott when she went in the living room.
"hey, shelby," willie said. "wanna play twister with me?"
"sure," shelby said. dad turned to scott.
scott was up. he was continuing reading his book he got from the library at school 3 days ago, and he was really enjoying it. soon, he stopped and looked at dad.
"i wanna tell you when we are going on vacation." dad said.
his son blinked his eyes and rubbed his hair.
"we go to las vegas on thursday of next week," dad reminded. "the week after christmas. we must stay for 3 days, and then come back here."
"i can't stay that long," said scott. "i'm really about to pull off to a new state."
"i know you are." dad said happily.
a few hours had passed and scott and shelby went to the park to read. one sat on the branch on tree, and one read a book.
"ed had a crossing to the cheeks," shelby read. "but he had a point to shot the soldier with an arrow. and even though wars don't need arrows, medieval times-" but then she got interrupted by scott thriving on the leaves on the tree.
"i'm listening." scott whispered out.
shelby continued, "and even though wars don't need arrows, medieval times use lots of arrows to shoot. the soldier was thereby shot as it went to the ground. mortar had a sword in his back to the other soldier, as the other soldier-"
scott made a giggle noise. "scott, please be quiet."
"i'm sorry," scott said, "but why can't you read a book with no pictures, but there are conversations in it?"
"there are a lot of books like these, too." shelby told him. "most notably novels."
scott looked down onto the grass. he jumped off and walked to one of the seats. he sat on one of them, and stood silent for a few seconds. "i promised that picking daisies would've been the pleasure since it's so cold, and there's not even flowers to pick." he thought.
he then layed down and looked down to the ground, and then at shelby, who was still reading her book. he looked down for a minute, and felt like his eyes were gonna rest. and on top of that, his eyes closed.
a rustling noise from the bushes was heard. scott opened one of his eyes. he looked around to find shelby, but he was in the park, by his own. but all of a sudden, a rabbit with red glowing eyes ran close by him.
it seemed so curious to see red glowing eyes of a rabbit, nor so the rabbit murmured to its breath, "i'm late for a very important date. no time to say hello. goodbye, i'm late!"
scott stood up to his feet, through the flash of his mind he has never heard a animal talk. when all of a sudden again, a boy appeared beside the seat he was sitting on.
the boy had tan skin, a headband that looked white with blue outlines of a flower, a red jacket, a white shirt, a pair of jeans on him (like scott), and black tied shoes.
"who are you?" scott asked.
the boy stood up. he had green-blue eyes and black hair, and he looked at the teenage boy beside him.
"i just wanna tell you who you are." scott said.
the boy then said a word.
"daniel larusso."
scott was in shock. "my name's scott." he told back.
daniel looked down to the ground. "where did he go?" he asked.
"the rabbit. he went that way, the tree shelby was reading there." scott reminded him. he ran off to look for it. daniel looked up and followed the troubled son.
the two boys ran for a while, until a few trees were behind.
scott was then noticing that there was a large hole over the edge. he walked through the edge till the two boys found it. "never seen a hole that huge before," daniel thought. "i was thinking mr. miyagi could've walked down there and did karate there."
"old mr. miyagi, huh?"
scott looked down to the hole. it was pitched black and there was no sight of mr. miyagi for some reason. he looked back at the unknown boy. "is it fair?" he asked.
"go ahead." the boy told him.
he crawled inside and daniel came along. "been nice meeting you, daniel, but this seems weird." said scott. "after all, being the most troubled son in all families, things couldn't lead to.. nothing."
but then, the boys tripped down and plopped into the large cliff in the bottom. the hole was by far the deepest, and ergo, it went very slowly, as scott had time to think about what was going on today. it was very dark inside, but there was a lamp, and one of the boys turned it on.
daniel was in awe to see such things in the hole as it was bunched up with bookshelves, maps, pictures, and jars. he had the time to look around. "it's your first time, ain't it?" scott asked him.
"yeah." the karate kid said back to him. "so this is probably where mr. miyagi teached karate in when he was a teacher. he oughta talk to all the kids who haven't been teacher to karate when they are younger. once they get older, they get professional."
scott took out a jar from a shelf. the jar read out 'PEPSI-COLA' in printed cursive letters. it was empty, of course.
he placed in one of the other shelves so it won't fall or hurt somebody.
"have you ever heard of willie?" asked scott.
"no," daniel said, looking down curiously.
"he's one of my siblings." said scott. "my family are going on vacation to las vegas on thursday, and i had thrashed some of my stuff inside my luggage. it'd be fun!"
daniel then turned upside down. scott was rightside up when he rotated.
"well, at least things couldn't get worse," said daniel. "if i haven't seen you, i would've fallen out to my larynx."
scott looked down to the edge.
it was getting pretty boring being in the hole, and the two boys were napping by then. the sleep took them a whole 7 minutes down the hole.
when suddenly, a THUMP was heard. the fall was thereby over.
