When first meeting any demon for Lydia, there was always a possibility she might get scarred mentally or unfortunately physically. Her interactions so far made her realize that every demon had an aura about them. But this man that was in front of her was a scary feeling she never felt before and she was careful to not make any eye contact.
She just stared at his hands and it was a strange feeling like she shouldn't even breathe in his presence. His hands were extremely pale while his nails were long and pointy. It made her thankful that Gyutaro's nails were so blunt even though he still teared at his own skin like it was nothing.
Lydia was made to be uncomfortable especially as she sat on a wooden stool in front of the demon king. She wanted to at least greet him, but everytime she would open mouth, her voice would die in her throat, remembering the rules Daki and Gyutaro gave her.
He suddenly had a finger to her bottom teeth that surprised her and she nearly bit down onto him. When she heard a dark whisper that felt like it was in her ear, but there was no breath to it.
"If I feel an inkling of a bite to my skin it will be the last thing you ever do,"
Immediately Lydia opened her mouth wide not wanting to find out about this threat. She averted her eyes downward, she was nervous before, but now she was terrified. It also didn't help that she was in front of a bunch of demons kneeling. Aĺl of them staring at her like she was kind of group project that was sprung onto them.
Speaking of demons, she knew some demons had unique physical attributes, but she didn't understand what was the point of the one in the vase? The six baby arms, his eyes were vertical from each other and two mouths where his eyes were supposed to be. It made her wonder what he must have looked like as a human because as a demon he seemed handicap, but then again she thought that same way about Hantengu and was sorely wrong.
"Interesting, can you hear me?" The demon king's voice was reverberating in her head making her look at his lips.
Lydia was confused because he was speaking to her, but his lips weren't moving. She was convinced he was a ventriloquist.
"Gyutaro...why did you give her your blood?" Muzan asked out loud. He stared at her tongue piercing for a split second then at her canines because they looked larger than an average human.
"It was more an accident than anything, b-but it does have its perks," he hated that he had to admit it was a mistake, thinking he was going to be severely punished.
"What kind of perks?" The demon king questioned because he was more curious than angry at this.
"No! I don't consen-" Lydia was instantly silent by her own hand covering her mouth as she ended up staring daggers at Gyutaro.
"This is similar to what Rui can do, but less ridge maybe because it is inside the blood vessels," the master's words made Lower Five frown.
This is the first time that Lydia was forced to look at him and she had to admit Ume was right, he was really handsome to look at. From his hair to down to his clothes there was beauty, but his red eyes were piercing her very soul. She quickly looked back down at the floor mentally cursing herself because she wasn't supposed to look him in the eyes.
He suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled down her sleeve revealing the fresh scars down her forearm. It still stings a bit for her, but at least they weren't bleeding anymore.
"Hantengu you got in a fight with her, why was the reason?"
"Oh master, she attacked me unprovoked! She is so mean after everything I did to help her!" he sobbed, clutching his skull as if he was getting a splitting headache.
That is what pissed Lydia off the most, how could Hantengu sit there and lie like that? What the hell did he actually do to her help?! She was more lost in the castle when he was latched onto her like a leech. She nearly died in his care!
Muzan found her line of thinking mildly amusing; it was obvious that she had a great disdain for Hantengu. But this incident had to be checked no matter how irritating Upper Four was most of the time when speaking with him. He was still a loyal subject of his.
"Did you attack him first unprovoked?"
Lydia almost said no, but then she had to think about it. Remembering that Ume sliced off Hantengu's head over words. It meant Daki would get in trouble and she decided to take the blame.
"Yes I-I was afraid for my life, but that's still no excuse,"
"And yet here you are making an excuse, thinking you could lie to me," Muzan stated hating being lied to no matter how small it might be.
Lydia was so shocked because she could now understood that he could read her thoughts. She felt unbelievable fear in her heart, feeling the heat of his anger wash over her.
"Daki tell me why you would attack Hantengu for no reason?"
"I-It was a mistake-"
"Seems like Upper Six as a whole has been making a lot of mistakes as of late," he interrupted whatever nonsense excuse she had to make.
The sibling as a unit bowed lowly with both their faces touching the wooden floor. They both never displeased the master this much and was in fear he might strip them of their title. Lydia never saw them shaken up this bad, it was worse than when they were facing Upper One.
Lydia felt like she needed to do something or something extremely bad was going to happen to them. She stood up knocking the stool behind her. It shattered whatever silent was in the room as it tumbled to the ground.
"It is m-my fault! I also attacked S-Sekido and I used T-Total Concentration Breathing on U-Urogi, breaking his jaw!" she quickly kneeled, putting her hand to her chest trying to keep the intrusive thoughts out of her mind.
"And how did you learn this?" he questioned, ready to filet her alive.
"I-I r-read volume o-one, b-but I'd never read any of the other volumes. I-I didn't know they existed here," Lydia remembered seeing the other volumes on a desk when first entering the room.
There was a deadly silence in the room with everyone wondering how long she would be alive for. Gyutaro was counting down the seconds until the master popped her pretty little head off like a cork as he shut his eyes tightly in despair.
"Show me," Muzan commanded.
She quickly assumed he meant Total Concentration Breathing since he didn't specify. She wanted to do this right the first time since being in the sight of his predatory gaze felt like she was next to molten lava. Inhale and exhale like she has been practicing as her veins bulge in her arm.
"No that is not Total Concentration Breathing. It is as I suspected the demon blood circulating inside of her is giving her strength," Kokushibo knew his hunch was correct.
"Oh that makes sense I was wondering how she survived so long from ingesting my ice," Douma pondered out loud with a finger to his chin.
"Something you failed to mention Douma when speaking in private with me..." Muzan really despised the cult leader especially in a time like this.
"Whoopies must have slipped my min-" his head popped like a balloon as his body slumped forward with blood spraying everywhere.
Lydia was on her hands and knees quick to stare at the floor again. He didn't so much as look at him when his head exploded. It took all of her willpower not to pass out as sweat and tears dripped from her face. Demons were so unnecessarily violent and this demon king was beyond powerful.
"I believe the Shinazugawa hybrid had a special digestive organ. But it is strange that this girl from the future... hardly has any demonic features," Upper One spoke as if nothing happened.
"S-She does have special lungs master," Gyutaro suddenly remembered and sat back up.
"Hmm for her to be breathing normal even after all the damage to her lungs. Exceptional even if she can't do Total Concentration Breathing correctly," Kokushibo confirmed even though it was still strange.
Muzan mentally asked Gyutaro if he ever moved his blood into her lungs.
"Only her arm and neck," he remembered when she nearly tore that window to get the sunlight back when she was poisoned.
He thought maybe those were claw marks instead of her gripping the windowsill so hard. Damn he wished he would have stopped her from getting to the sun back then, what if she changed completely to a demon then. What if all those near death experiences were meant for her human part to die?
Gyutaro was wholeheartedly confused by this hybrid mess as he made his blood go to her lungs.
Lydia heard the demon king loud and clear in her mind.
"Breathe," as if she forgotten to in his presence.
