AN bleuxe: Writing can be so therapeutic I be losing track of time and space. Happy Autumn I do miss the colder season after the summer blues. Thank you for all the comments and as always happy reading!
Heiwa noticed Lydia was real quiet during the rest of the errands. That is when they were back in front of Kyogoku house, he just had to know.
"Do you hate me now?" he was almost afraid to ask.
"O-Of course not! I could never hate you especially since you haven't done anything!" she replied almost forgetting that he almost tried to scam her out of her money.
"Well it's just you stop trying to have a conversate with me,"
"Silly boy you also stopped trying to talk to me, but yea I have been spacey afterwards..."
"Is it because I mentioned demons? It just I heard some folktale back in my village and it was usually the elders telling them. I thought it was something they would say to children to keep from going outside at night," Heiwa mentioned and started to feel home sick.
Lydia never thought of this, but rural areas probably are more superstitious and more likely to believe in demons, well the older generation anyways. Heiwa reading that damn book had him try to confirm if it was real or not, unless she convinced him otherwise.
"I'm sure you heard a lot of myths in your village and I love to hear about them, but for another day. Maybe I'll share with you some urban legends about America when I see you again!"
"You will?" his eyes seemed to lit up from that.
"Well thank you for everything Lydia and if you see Omitsu tell me I'll see her tomorrow!"
"I sure will!"
"One more thing," he grabbed her by the sleeve to keep her from leaving.
"You being new here...I wouldn't travel alone at night especially for a woman who is exotic and pretty as you. Women are known to go missing here," Heiwa finished hoping she wouldn't become one of them.
"Aww kid no need to worry for me I'm well protected!" Lydia suddenly hugged him again.
"Aurgh Lydia personal space please!" he wasn't used to such affections since leaving his home.
"Oh sorry bye Heiwa take care!" as he merely nodded and waved back.
Meanwhile Daki was thinking how she should do this? She just received Lydia's food from Omitsu and instantly shooed the child away. The demoness wanted to test something, but she didn't want it to be noticeable to Lydia. She decided to put it in her tea so it would be less noticeable. Pricking her nail onto the tip of her finger watching as the droplets of blood easily disappeared in the cup.
"There that should be harder for her to detect," Daki said, satisfied with her work. She sat down pretending to be bored as she footsteps approaching her door.
"Took you long enough," Daki commented as Lydia entered.
"Well it was no walk in the park especially since you didn't tell me where to go?" she sighed, not appreciating her dumb errand.
"That boy that Omitsu is so fond of, went with you. So I already know you would have no problems finding the place,"
Lydia breathed halter and kept telling herself not to panic trying to think of a perfect explanation. She had to protect Heiwa and kept wondering how she knew. Lydia was sure that Ume didn't tag along in her obi.
"Stop gawking like a damn goldfish...I swear Lydia you never use that brain of yours," she made sure to show her belt peeking through the cracks of the ceiling.
"Oh right, didn't realize you were everywhere at once like that!" Lydia said feeling relieved because it meant that that conversation was safe.
"Of course I have to protect my identity and now you, but you need to be careful around that boy Heiwa. He pickpockets at the house he serves and he is also a liar!" Daki remarked remembering those lies he told her at the carpenter's place.
"You have nothing to worry about and oh you got me food!" Lydia exclaimed hoping she would get off this topic or didn't ask for the money back.
"Yes I have to think of your pitiful human needs still,"
"Well thank you for finally being thoughtful to me and thanked Omitsu too for cooking this for me," she quickly sat down not realizing how much she was starving till now.
"How do you know she cooked it? I've could have cooked it!"
Lydia merely sipped her this delicious soup? She didn't want to argue, but she did imagine Daki cooking and that made her giggle a little.
"It's not funny and you don't think I'm capable!"
"No I think your more than capable, it's just your more of a princess than to be laboring over a stove," she really was trying to avoid this argument.
This seemed to quiet the demoness down as she blushed and whispered softly.
"You really think of me as a princess?"
"Yes when I first saw you I thought you were royalty,"
For Lydia it seems like such a time long ago when they first met, but she has only been here for a short period of time. So much has changed, her way of life and even her body. Suddenly she remembered something important to her!
"Did Gyutaro ever get my phone back?"
"I already told you before...whatever he wants, he gets and it was in pieces from what I saw," Daki recalled from her brother's memories.
"In p-pieces..." she felt as if her heart was in pieces.
Lydia decided to finish her food in silence. She noticed the food was a lot more bland compared to the soup, but maybe it was the numbness. She got up after she was done with her meal.
"Thanks for the meal. The soup was especially good,"
"Soup? That was tea, it is called genmaicha,"
"Ah you'll have to tell me all about it another time," she just going through the motions and the foodie in her seemed to be snubbed out.
Daki watched as Lydia retreated to the next room to sleep, but she could tell that she was in distress. Lydia wore her emotions on her sleeve and listening to her trying to muffle her sobs was too much.
"Brother console your mate because you know I can't stand crying!" she sighed, calling him out.
Within seconds Gyutaro split from her and snarled at her as well.
"What did you do this time!"
"I told her that the master broke her phone and she started to cry!" Daki frowned, feeling like she was being reprimanded for no reason.
"I meant why do I feel her demonic presence...she was human the last time I checked!"
"I-I just want to see if I could control the blood inside of her like you did! I didn't expect her to change, because last time she didn't transform at all!"
Gyutaro just shook his head because his sister never thinks about the consequences of what she does most of the time. Always leaving him to clean up after her. Entering the room Lydia underneath the covers of the futon with only her tail showing.
He it sort of reminded of a cat trying to hide, but failing at it miserably.
"How cute," he couldn't help, but to comment as he crouched down next to her.
"Get out I'm trying to sleep!"
"Tch demons don't sleep stupid!"
Gyutaro wasn't expecting the tip of her devil tail to pierce the backside of his wrist then his stabbing the center of his palm. Lydia didn't seem to expect that to happen as well. As her tail immediately withdrew from his bloody hand as she threw the covers out of her.
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to do that! It's like I don't have control over this damn thing!?" Lydia freaking out over his wounds.
He merely smiled evilly because he was happy how strong she had become. This was a perfect solution to all her weaknesses, remembering all times she was coughing with illness. During those days he didn't know when it would be her final day with him.
It was a constant reminder of himself when he was human and how he clinged to life somehow.
"Quit crying, you didn't even hurt me you baby demon," as she shook her head with hands covering her face.
"Such a (sigh) hard headed girl!" he grabbed her and forced them both to lay back on the futon.
That seemed to get her attention and she kept her apologizing in his chest as he held her close.
"I was surprised that's all and my wound has already closed up! So stop apologizing!"
"It just feels like I have no control and I don't understand why I suddenly turned," Lydia said, so frustrated not understanding her body at all.
Gyutaro explained that it was his sister doing, also since she was hyperventilating and crying uncontrollably. That the blood must have gone straight to her lungs since they were special and all.
"Why must I be poisoned everytime I come here?" she pouted, but at least she finally seemed to calm down.
"Ha don't you go and make shit up now! I tried to warn you from eating that food, twice I might have added last time!" Daki remarked in the doorway.
"B-But this time you were A-OK with poisoning me as long as it was you doing it!"
"She made you stronger unlike what Douma's ice did to you!" Gyutaro scrutinized because that situation was completely different.
"I'm a freak show with a tail and a monster who doesn't know her own strength!" Lydia wished for once he would just take her side instead of always his sister's side.
"I have no family nor no friends here and all my possessions are basic gone and taken from me,"
She just wanted to hide away from the world and be left alone at this point.
"That's something I can understand, but still...are you not in a nice warm bed? Are you not clean in the best kimono I've found for you..."
"I don't get-" Lydia paused because she could tell he was being deadly serious.
"What brother is trying to say is, that we may not be able to replace your family or the futuristic possessions," the demoness decided to come into the room and sat near them.
"Or friends," he finished bitterly, but he decided to take over the conversation again.
"But we are not asking to replace them and eventually you'll get to see the future again. You are part demon and should be able to live forever just like us,"
Lydia was taking it all in and was wondering if it was possible to see all her loved ones again. To wait nearly two centuries and things might be totally different? She got into too much scfi stuff thinking it might not be possible in this universe.
"You know what? You are right and I can see you are just trying to cheer me up! Thanks for being a good boyfriend!" she kissed his cheek.
"Fiancé," he autocorrected and glared at her.
"Fiancé sounds way better cause a boyfriend just sounds childish!" Daki had to agree.
"H-Hey now! W-We just talked about this!"
"Doesn't matter because not only does Fate demands it, but so does the master on this upcoming full moon,"
Gyutaro held on to Lydia squeezing her back reminding her of the mating ritual. He put his chin on top of her curls with her face forcibly buried on his neck. He believed everything was coming together as it should be. Good fortune was finally on his side.
