Author notes: Yeah I know I already have 3 active stories. What can I say I got this idea and it stuck in my mind. Once again I don't own Chuck. But have fun writing AU stories like this one. Enjoy!
2006, Germany
It was dark. A woman drove in a rental car to a local motel. She got out of the car. The woman had long blonde hair. Her eyes were blue. She was wearing a blue plunging dress. She was also bleeding, her hand had deep wound. She also had a small cut on her cheek. Her face showed little emotion, but some anger and a little sadness in her eyes. She opened her motel room, took her fake passport and her suitcase. She had gun and knew how to avoid security at the airport. And the airport was destination. Her cover has been compromised. Her partner has gone rogue.
"You know, this mission may be more fun if you wouldn't act so stiff." said man with dark hair. He had green eyes. He talked like he was relaxed, acting casual. He was sure of himself and his confidence was showing.
"You called me stiff?" said the blonde woman with blue eyes. She looked offended.
"I wouldn't dare Miss Anderson." said the man while giving the woman a golden ring with a small diamond.
The blonde woman took the ring and put it on her finger and kissed the man. "Smooth talking Mr. Anderson" she said. She knew it wasn't real. She was spy and she couldn't trust nobody, not even her partner. But she secretly wished for a normal life. But she knew she couldn't have that. She had so many names. Even her name that she curently used, Sarah Walker, wasn't nothing but a lie. Nothing about her was real, so how she could be normal, when everything about her was a lie.
In the present
She was just boarded the plane. Avoiding security was easy. She knew how to avoid attention. But her partner betrayed her. He left alone after he stole a drive with information that the CIA wanted recovered. Worst thing was the fact she trusted him and then he turned his gun on her and left her to die. She was lucky to escape. But she was still in danger and needed to return to US.
In the speaker of the plane, she boarded , she heard "This is Captain Alvarez, the plane is ready to take off. Please turn your phones off and fasten your seatbelts. Thanks for flying with us! Next destination: Washington DC."
…
She was in the plane for two hours already. She wasn't impatient. She actually enjoyed the time when she was in the air, it was the only time when she didn't need to think about her safety. 'Safe' is unknown concept for a spy. There's always the danger of the mission. And if not on a mission there's the danger of some old enemy showing up. In a plane nobody could use weapons. The only dangers were knives and poison, but those were pretty hard to come by in the air. Sarah tried to relax, but nothing worked. Her partner just betrayed her. But that wasn't what hurt the most. What hurt most was the fact she had been fooled because she trusted him.
…
Six hours in the air passed like a snail - slow. But then came the anouncement.
"This is Captain Alvarez, I'm sorry to inform you that due some technical difficulties we are going to land at the nearest airport. The airline is going to reinburse for the trouble, or you could catch another flight to Washington with your current tickets in 5 hours. We are landing at LAX. Please don't use your phones during the landing. Sorry for inconvinience."
"LAX, so I'm staying in a LA. I won't wait 5 hours in the airport. And to travel the country with buses and all… No thanks!" thought Sarah
After the plane landed, she exited the airport and took her suitcase. She took a cab to Maison23, a hotel she found online on her phone.
Once she got to the hotel she checked in for a week. She didn't plan to stay that long, but it was more likely for the hotel to say that they don't had rooms available if she said she was staying a night.
…
Once in the hotel room, she checked for bugs and then she took her laptop from her suitcase. She started a videocall.
A tall and imposing black man appeared on her screen.
"Walker, secure." she said
"Graham, secure." said the man.
"Sir…" started Sarah to say but she got interrupted.
"Agent Walker where are you? You were sent in Germany to retrieve stolen data, but you didn't check-in. We sent agents to find you and Larkin, but we learned you went to the airport. It's thought you are rogue. You have any idea how it looks when your best agent is considered rogue?" said Graham. He was clearly mad.
"Sir. I'm in LA. I'm not rogue, but Agent Larkin is. He has the stolen data. After he betrayed me I was captured and barely escaped. My cover was blown and I decided it was better to return to Washington and give my report to you directly, but the plane had some problems and I ended in LA. I'm staying at a local hotel, Maison23." said Sarah.
"Do you have any idea where Larkin may have gone?" asked Graham
"No, sir." she said while looking down.
"Well it's not the end of the world. It happens! Agents go rogue! Sometimes we see it coming and sometimes we don't… There's going to be an investigation, but with your record I think you will be back in the field in no time." said Graham
Sarah looked up and asked "What about the stolen data?"
"Well, while it is concerning that Agent Larkin is now rogue, the data he stole isn't too valuable. The data consists in schematics for a secure DNI facility. We can just increase security and that data becomes worthless." said Graham
Sarah smiled. Bryce got something useless.
"I suspect I'm supposed to report to Langley?" asked Sarah
"No. Just send me the detail to your flight. You can stay in LA and relax for the time being. And keep the receipts, CIA will cover everything." said Graham
"Yes, sir!" said Sarah.
The call ended leaving Sarah alone to her thoughts. She sent a photo of her flight ticket to Graham and closed the laptop. She never had a vacantion. She had a lot of free days gathered up. But she never took a day off. She was a bit of a didn't knew how to start relaxing. She was in LA, so she could enjoy a day or two at a beach. Maybe eat some ice cream. Go to club to dance. God, how much she loved dancing! In any case for the first time in years she could try living like a normal person. The idea excited her. And everything because Bryce. She didn't feel any gratitude towards him however. She hoped that wherever Bryce Larkin was he suffering.
2003, Stanford University.
Chuck Bartowski was in his room. He was packing his things because he just got expeled. The door opened and Chuck saw his roomate entering.
"Why, Bryce? Why?" asked Chuck
Bryce looked at Chuck and shuregged.
"What can I say, Chuck? You wanted me to cover for you? You stole the test results and cheated. Not to mention that you planned to sell those exams answers. You did this to yourself!" said Bryce with pride.
Chuck felt the anger of Bryce betrayal.
"I didn't steal anything. And I didn't cheat! You are a liar and I hope you rot in hell! To think I ever I thought you were my friend." said Chuck as he punched Bryce in the face.
Chuck wasn't a violent person. But in that moment… in that moment of anger and betrayal, he just lost it. He gathered his things and left the frat house were for the last 3 years he lived. He was missing 12 credits. 12 credits and he would've graduated. But now? Now he got framed for cheating by a man he considered his friend and got expeled. His life couldn't be any worse. Right? Well he at least had his girlfriend Jill. As he left the frat house he was surprised to see his friends from Stanford gathered there. He also saw some of his teachers.
"Charles, It's a shame of what happened. Everyone here knows you didn't cheat. But Fleeming and the Dean… Well, in any case I think I speak in everyone's name when I say that I hope you won't let this stupid mistake made by the Dean let define your future. And please consider talking to a lawyer. You have such a bright future. Don't stop fighting because of this!" said one of the professors.
Chuck was thankful for this. Seeing everyone and hearing the word of the professor. Of course he couldn't go to a lawyer, because he couldn't afford one. His sister was just finished her final year at UCLA and started Med School. He didn't have the money for a lawyer and asking his sister wasn't an option. While he looked at the everyone he came there to support him, he didn't saw Jill. He wished to see her, but if she didn't came it meant she couldn't.
Present Day, Burbank, LA.
Chuck Bartowski was just finishing his shift at the Buy More. His salary was not even a quarter of what he would've got if graduated from Stanford and started his own company. Of course that wasn't an option after you get expeled. Nobody would've worked for someone who had the word "cheater" written in his public record. He had no career, no girlfriend, no future. He at least got a car. A Nerd Herder, as he called it. A car that he got it as a benefit from working at the Buy More. The only benefit working at that madhouse.
"Chuck, hey, Chuck, wait man!" said Morgan Grimes.
Morgan was Chuck best friend. He was also working at the Buy More. Morgan was short, brown eyes and he had beard.
Chuck was tall, he had dark curly hair and hazel eyes. Of and he was a NERD! A BIG NERD! His computer was his life. Video games, action figures, a Tron poster in his room. Yeah that kind of nerd!
"What, Morgan?" asked Chuck as he turned to face his best friend.
"Isn't today, THE DAY?" asked Morgan
Chuck knew what Morgan was referring to. Today was the day that marked the 3 years aniversary of his break-up with Jill Roberts, his girlfriend. To say it was a bad break-up it was an understatement. Not one week after he was expeled from Stanford, Jill broke up with him. While fair is fair, she stopped answering his phone calls when he got expeled. So when he visited her, she said that they were over and she doesn't date cheaters. And if like that didn't hurt enough she said that she was 'dating' Bryce Larkin. And just like that Chuck lost his girlfriend not soon after he got expeled because Bryce framed him. Chuck wasn't the type of person to keep a grudge, but when it came to Bryce… he hated him with pure passion. In any case after the break-up, Chuck became very insecure. And he actually fell into depresion. A 3 year long depresion.
He now lived with his sister, Ellie and her boyfriend, Devon. He was working at the Buy More, a dead end job, which he hated. Oh and most of the Buy More employes are crazy. And of course there was his sister being controling and always setting him up with her friends or co-workers. And 2 times a year, Ellie Bartowski was throwing a party where she and Devon invited a lot of women just for Chuck to 'socialize'. And if you ask where on the calendar were marked those 2 nightmare days for Chuck well it was The Day when Jill broke up with him and his birthday. And that meant if he now went home he will be surprised by one of Ellie's parties. And now, Chuck, wasn't in the mood and neither had the patience for that. So what did he did? He decided to go to the beach.
Author Notes: So that will be chapter one. Hope you enjoyed it! See you next time.
