Masumi eyed the interaction across her with interest. She had just met today the Great Detective Of The East; Hattori Heiji, and he and Conan started arguing about who was the best once she asked who was the best, Hattori or Kudou.

It was never her nature to not investigate when a case happened, but she let Heiji and Conan investigate, and the second was the one who figured out the case in the end, and when the criminal tried to escape, Ran and Toyama Kazuha (Heiji's love interest from what Masumi deduced from their interaction) taught him a lesson.

She watched as Heiji was still arguing with Conan and smiled a bit bitterly as she glanced at Ran, who was busy chatting with Kazuha, both with wide smiles on their faces.

Masumi never had a friend. Her first friends were technically Shinichi and Ran, when she met them 10 years ago, but she did not have any other friends in Japan nor Britain. Her mixed look with the tomboy personality and the detective persona made many people move away from her.

But since she met Sonoko and Ran, they've been boasting about her whenever they got the chance, and that made Masumi's guilt increase.

Can she really call her friendship with them real when she befriended them just to get close to Shinichi to get the antidote for her mother?

Masumi sighed heavily as she rubbed the back of her neck and thought, 'I hope they never find out about that… and if they do… they'd understand…'.

Then her eyes landed on André Camel, her brother's colleague. She had once visited her brother in his office at the FBI, so she knew his colleagues well.

She wondered what Camel was doing here, and if he was here officially, but she did not ask, knowing that Camel would not say anything.

Masumi walked further from the group as she pulled out her phone and texted Subaru.

Hey, where are you?

At the Kudo's house, why?

I'd like to talk to you, are you free now?

Sure.

"So, what's bothering you?", Subaru said as he placed a cup of coffee across Masumi, as he sat across her in at the kitchen's table.

"I just met Kudo's rival and his girl; Hattori Heiji and Toyama Kazuha, though he denies Kazuha is his girl.", Masumi started with a shrug.

Subaru chuckled a bit, "I heard from Yukiko-san that Kudou-kun would do the same with Mouri-san, yet he'd not allow a boy to approach her.".

"Hmm… Love is a weird…", She mumbled making Subaru raise an eyebrow at her words as he picked up his coffee cup.

"Thinking about your secret crush?", He guessed.

"I had a crush on Shinichi, just because he made my brother laugh, which was impossible for me to do, despite my numerous attempts.", Masumi pointed out as she took a sip from her cup.

"Oh, you mean that beach visit you told me about yesterday?", Subaru recalled before taking a sip from his cup.

"Yeah… I don't have that crush anymore… or you can say I still think he is cool but no love or anything, and even if love existed, I'd still do nothing since Ran likes him, I won't steal her guy.", Masumi explained with a nod.

Subaru smiled proudly at her, "That's my sister.".

"Will you quit the whole sister thing? You make me feel like a kid.", Masumi grumbled at Subaru's choice of words.

"You are a kid compared to me.", Subaru pointed out and he chuckled a bit when Masumi groaned in annoyance.

"I'm 18!".

"And I'm 27, so you're a kid to me.", Subaru pointed out again, making Masumi roll her eyes with a huff.

"You still haven't told me what is bothering you though.", Subaru pointed out.

Masumi sighed heavily as she spoke slowly, trying to explain her feelings without revealing the truth, "I… I befriended Ran and Sonoko… because I want something from Shinichi… I can't say what it is or why, but it's important… and seeing them today interact with Kazuha and Heiji made me feel…".

"Awful and guilty?", Subaru deduced before taking a sip from his coffee.

"Yeah… I never had friends before, and since Shinichi and Ran and I did not spend much time together nor met after that day on the beach… I can't say they're my friends…", Masumi ran a hand through her hair, "I'm just using them now, to be frank… and I feel awful about it…".

Subaru remained silent for a few moments, thinking about Masumi's words for a few minutes before he asked slowly, "You can't tell them about that reason, can you?".

Masumi shook her head.

"I don't see it that way really. Do you spend nearly 100% with your time around them trying to get that thing?", Subaru asked.

Masumi blinked for a few moments before she recalled that she had not asked Ran and Sonoko about Shinichi or even mentioned him, she was busy spending time and hanging out with them.

"I think… you do have a point.", Masumi said slowly in realization before she smiled widely, "You're doing a better job at being my brother, than my older brothers!".

She laughed a bit with her eyes closed, so she completely missed how Subaru's face expression was taken back from her words, then it changed to guilt and sadness, before he faked a smile on his face once she looked at him again.

'I was a bad brother to that point, huh?', He thought solemnly.

Despite telling him not to, Subaru insisted on walking Masumi back to her hotel, and the two said nothing as they walked side by side.

Masumi was curiously looking around before he eyes widened in horror and disbelief once she saw who was standing in the alley.

There he was, with a scar on over his right eye; Akai Shuichi.

Masumi did not need to think twice to know that guy was not her brother, he did not have the same built, and her brother would not sell his place like that if he wanted to speak with her, when she was walking with someone.

Rage surged through her body once she realized someone was disguising as her presumed dead brother, so she charged to towards Scar Akai, ignoring Subaru's calls.

Scar Akai moved to walk away, taking the chance, that cars were passing on the street, and Masumi would have trouble passing them since she was on the other side.

He was surprised, however, when Masumi vaulted over the cars easily, and then used the last card to jump high, flip in the air, before sending a kick right into his face.

Scar Akai landed on his back with a shocked look on his face before he stood up quickly just as Masumi charged at him with a battle cry.

"HOW DARE YOU?!", She cried angrily as she sent a punch towards Scar Akai's face but he easily dodged it before blocking the other.

Masumi let out a battle cry as she performed a round house kick, but Scar Akai dodged it before he sent a punch towards her.

Masumi barely missed the punch, her eyes widening at the amazing speed of the punch, before Scar Akai noticed her shock and slammed his fist into her gut, making her grunt in pain.

'This guy is no Jeet Kune Do user, he's a boxer!', Masumi thought with wide eyes.

And then he used his other arm to send a hook towards her face, but she ducked, and jumped, performing a backflip and kicking him in the chin.

Scar Akai walked a few steps back from the hit as Masumi readjusted herself in a Jeet Kune Do position and eyed Scar Akai, who stood in a Boxing Stance, ready to continue.

He charged at her first and readied his fist, but Masumi surprising by charging head first, spearing him into the ground from his stomach, placing her knee there, before she numerous punches into his face.

"YOU THINK YOU CAN DISGUISE AS MY DEAD BROTHER AND GET AWAY WITH IT?!", She cried angrily as continued punching the disguised man, and her eyes flashed once she saw that the mask had been torn from her hits.

"SHOW ME YOUR FACE YOU-", She cried as she aimed touch the mask, but Scar Akai sent a strong punch right into her nose, making her dizzy, before he pushed her roughly off him.

He aimed to send another punch to knock her out, but a strong first held his and he heard a man say, "It's not nice to hit a lady, you know that?".

He looked up to see Subaru's face, a second before the latter's fist collided with his face and sent him flying a few feet away.

"S-Subaru-san!", Masumi cried in surprise at the man's strength.

Scar Akai stared at them for a second as he got up, before he started running away.

"He's getting away!", Masumi said as she stood up, aiming to chase him, but Subaru held her back from her arm.

"You're bleeding.", He informed her as he pointed at her nose.

Masumi touched her nose and was shocked to see blood on her hands and said, "That man is no joke… His fists felt like steel…".

"Come on, let's get you to a hospital.", Subaru said and grabbed Masumi from her hand while thinking,

'I'm going to kill you, Bourbon.'.
