Amuro really wanted to kill himself.
He had asked Mouri Kogoro to become his apprentice and the man did accept, and now he had just arrived at the agency, making lunch for the man, and speaking with fake admiration and enthusiasm about him and his work.
But once he mentioned that Kogoro was focusing a lot on a case to the point that he forgot about Okino Yoko's live case.
But apparently he just forgot.
They went to meet Kogoro's client at café Columbo but no one was there, so they returned back, and he and Conan noticed that someone had broken in to the agency. When they walked in, they heard a gunshot from the bathroom, so Conan rushed in and found a man who apparently had committed suicide with a gun, and taped-up crying woman.
The woman's bame was Kei Kashitsuka, and they escorted her back to her condo. She had said she will tidy her room while the group was standing, and Conan said he'll go to the bathroom, but he followed her when she was secretly left.
Amuro snapped out of his recap of the day once Ran's phone rang, "Ah! It could be my mom since I had closed my phone, Moshi moshi?".
Amuro raised his eyebrows once he heard Masumi's voice loud and clear, crying, "WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?!! YOU HAVEN'T BEEN ANSWERING YOUR PHONE FOR AWHILE?!".
"Sorry, Sera-san, my phone was turned off.", Ran apologized.
"Anyways... are you... Kogoro... con... Kay", Ran struggled to figure out what was Masumi trying to say since the signal wasn't stable.
Amuro noticed this and pressed on her phone to end the call, "This house is bugged and it's affecting your phone's signal.".
"Then let's find the listening devices.", Kogoro said. He, Amuro, and Ran searched the house carefully, finding most of the listening devices, until they located the final device, in a suitcase under the bed.
When they opened it, their eyes widened once they found the body of man beaten to death inside.
It didn't take much for Amuro to deduce that Kei was actually the mastermind behind both murderers, which surprised Ran and Kogoro.
"Another victim?", Kogoro mumbled.
"Wait... where's Conan?!", Ran asked worriedly.
Kogoro then heard his phone beep and he opened it, "I've got an email from Kei-san... She says that she has the brat, and she'll release him at dawn unless we attempt to find her.".
Ran's eyes widened in horror, freezing for a second, before she shook her head and opened her phone, "I gotta call Agasa-hakase for help.".
But before she can dial Agasa's number, someone called her and she answered, "Moshi Moshi?".
"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!! WHY DID YOU HANG UP ON ME?!!! DO YOU HATE ME OR SOMETHING?!!!", Masumi's loud voice was heard loud and clear for the three.
Kogoro rolled his eyes, used to the antics of Sonoko so Ran was nothing, while Amuro snickered at Masumi's attitude, 'You're something, Sera.'.
Ran did not hang up on Masumi, but dialed Agasa too and placed him on a shared phone call, and explained what happened to both as fast as possible.
"I have an extra glasses of his, I can use it to track his detective badge as you suggested Ran-kun. Ai-kun and I will find him.", Agasa replied quickly, but he didn't hang up.
"Conan-kun, huh?", Masumi said before she recapped what Ran had said to be sure she was on the correct track, and when Ran confirmed her thoughts, she said, "I'll be there then.".
"You will?", Ran asked in surprise.
"It's Conan-kun after all, besides, I'm interested in meeting Kogoro-san's apprentice.", Masumi said.
"That would be me.", Amuro walked closer to Ran to speak into the phone.
"A-Amuro-san?!", Masumi cried in surprise.
"Um... a recent change of plans happened...Ai-chan and Subaru-san will look for Conan.", Agasa informed them before he hanged up.
"Subaru-san?", Masumi and Amuro chorused.
Ran blinked at how both of them said the same thing at the same time but she snapped back to reality when Masumi said, "I'll be there. Stay in touch.", and she ended the call.
Conan, on the other hand wasn't having great luck.
Sure, he had pretended to be asleep when he found out that the juice box Kei handed him did not make a sound when he opened it, and he did his deduction show with her.
From the evidence that Conan gathered during time at the gas station, he concluded that Kei Kashitsuka's real name is Serina Urakawa, a bank employee where a recent robbery took place.
Serina isn't Kenya Shouno's, the bank worker who died, younger sister but is his lover. The name Kei Kashitsuka actually belong to the man that Serina murdered at Mouri Detective Agency, using shoe rope trick to pull the trigger.
Her motive was to kill the three robbers that were responsible for Kenya's death and so she tracked down his friend named Kei Kashitsuka. However she stumbled across one of Kei's friend (one of the robber) and in self-defense, killed him. After planted several listening devices, Serina heard that Kei will request Kogoro to search for the rest of money's location and so she ambushed him at the agency. She used stun-gun on him, switched their belonging and used the trick described above to make it seem that she's a victim.
Conan then furthered his deduction by saying that he knew that Serina will commit suicide after she murdered the third robber. Serina then accepted his condition and so he told her that the third robber's true identity is Takayo Tegawa. From the footage and information from Serina, Conan concluded that the third robber's true identity is Takayo Tegawa as both Toyokita and Furuya are right-handed (Tegawa is the only left-handed person). Tegawa's suspicious actions are also serve as an evidence, she bought beef-bowl rice to change the 10,000 yen bills number and she switched off her phone to prevent the police to find her.
After the deduction Serina agreed to turn herself in but she said that one thing is wrong, she only took 2 guns from Kei Kashitsuka's hideout, alerting Conan that the third one must still in Tegawa's possession.
And then they were abducted by Tegawa, who used Conan as a hostage to intimidate Serina. Since Tegawa held Conan's wrist tightly, he was unable to use the stun-gun wristwatch.
It was his luck however that when the car started driving off, Subaru and Haibara had just arrived with the car, and on the second lane of the street, Amuro, Kogoro, and Ran had arrived, receiving the information from Haibara of Conan's location.
Amuro and Subaru both stared in the mirror of their cars, and spotted Masumi on her bike behind Amuro's car, before they glanced at each other once Amuro's car neared Subaru, eyeing each other warily for a second.
Amuro then sped up his car before he pulled Ran close, making Kogoro who sat in the backseat cry at him angrily, before he spun the wheel, spinning the car and slamming it into the car of the culprit.
The culprit's car abruptly stopped before Takayo got out of the car, still holding Conan at gunpoint.
"STAY AWAY FROM ME OR ELSE-", Takayo did not get to finish her sentence because she heard the sound of a bike landing on her car.
She turned around to see an angry Masumi before she spun her bike as she cried, "GO TO HELL!!!".
And slammed the wheel of her bike into the face of the robber, knocking her out, and freeing Conan.
Conan stared at the robber in horror just as Masumi got off her bike and rushed towards him, hugging him, "Thank God! You're okay!".
Amuro and Subaru got out of their cars, glancing at each other before they approached Masumi, who let go off Conan, as Ran rushed towards him.
"So, you're Kogoro-san's apprentice? Impressive.", Masumi raised an eyebrow before she looked at Subaru surprised, "Why are you here, Subaru?".
"I was bringing some curry to Agasa-hakase when I heard everything and decided to help.", Subaru explained.
Masumi then glanced at Haibara, who got out of the car to check on Conan, but she did not miss the worried and suspicious look she was sending towards Subaru.
"What a weird coincidence, are we connected or something?", Masumi joked before her phone rang, "I gotta take this.".
She walked away as Subaru glanced at Amuro, before he walked away silently to answer his phone.
"Did you save him?", was the first thing Masumi heard once she answered the call.
She rolled her eyes, "Obviously.".
"Akai-kun, is everything okay?", James Black said once Subaru answered the call.
"Just a case popped up but everything is okay.".
Amuro answered the call as he glanced behind them at the bridge above, where Vermourh was resting on her bike.
"Hmm... so, you're keeping your promise to me?", She said.
"Protecting your treasures if I want to continue investigations? I think I already did today, didn't I?", Amuro replied calmly.
"Don't forget about it then, Bourbon.", She said with warning tone.
Amuro scoffed at her tone before he ended the call, and then he stared at Masumi's back while she dealt with her mother.
'Indeed. Why does fate have us three meet now?', He wondered as he glanced at Subaru before looking back at Masumi.
