A few years ago on Alecrast…
"Wake up, sunshine… Time to start the day, Sammy…"
"Hey, Sammy! Get your ass up! Gramps is wanting you to train with him."
I got up as I was more than likely to be starting the day with doing my daily rounds with Ippei in which I got up and put away the futon I slept in. Getting dressed, I left my room as I went out into the hall in which I saw Shigeru standing there in which he was there to shield me from my personal tormentor who kept torturing me, for he knew about what happened to him after losing his father. He also suffered the worst from Lucifer as an imprint as he didn't want me to suffer the same, for we had to deal with what was there in front of us.
"Oh, if it isn't my favorite plaything," he said to me. "Still, you ignore me, but I won't relent until you submit to me." Shigeru displays the middle finger as he hurried me along. "Oh, the proverbial silent treatment and the typical 'fuck you' salute. Real cute, Shigeru."
We rushed out to the courtyard as we saw Ippei meditating in which he spotted us when we appproached him. When we sat down between him, he noticed us as he was aware of our presence in which he was eager to combat what was there, for he couldn't let me fall under Lucifer's grip after what happened to me a few days ago.
"You arrived just in time and not be late," he said.
"You catch on very quick, Gramps," said Shigeru.
"I may be quick, but I also know that a certain nuisance plagues Sam to no end."
"That much is true…," I said. "This isn't the first time I have to deal with him in which I nearly lost my life on the ship's airlock."
"You can't just worry too much, for you should also become more like Torune and all his wisdom."
"Who is he?"
"Torune Mitani was our ancestor in which he didn't have humble beginnings when his father kicked him out to fend for himself, only to grow up being raised in a Shaolin temple. Years later, he lost his master and brethren when Lucifer attacked after he killed some of the townsfolk who lived here in this homestead. That propelled him to find Lucifer and avenge the deaths of his chosen family while mending the relationship of his blood one. After that, no one kept journals of him in which most of them remained top secret in the Order's archives. It is what it is, but I know that his story will soon be told in the future."
And so, we gathered around Ippei as we all meditated together in which we tuned out Lucifer's ranting and raving. Even though he was reduced to being an imprint, he was trying his best to get to me as I tuned him out while under Ippei's guidance, for it was a safety blanket that I had for the time being…
Present day…
I was busy taking a walk after doing my daily chores and childcare in which I was on my way towards the canal. I was also happy to see the older children playing there as they were also careful while drenched in sunblock. After discovering Torune's journal yesterday, I had to do a little bit of reading while watching out for the children as they were mainly having fun, for I also had to look after them so they would be safe from harm. Looking in the journal, I continued to read as I couldn't get enough of knowing more about what Torune went through, for his life wasn't a glamorous one.
"What do you got there?" asked Gyatso as he got out of the canal.
"It's an old journal that belonged to Torune Mitani," I said.
"It's old, but according to Sully, Torune wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed when it came to him dealing with what happened to him."
"He had so much trauma, but he also had to overcome it in order to fight against Lucifer back in the day."
"Mr. Sam! The boys don't have their swim bottoms on!"
I put the journal in my satchel as I rushed to see Carly picking up two pairs of swim trunks that floated upward. I took the swim trunks as I later noticed Aora and Ghimru in the partially deep water in which they were embarrassed to get out of the water. When I reached them, they got up from the water as I gave them their trunks in which they put them back on in which they later went back in to play, for they were having a lot more fun on such a hot day like this.
"You ought to play with us, Daddy," said Aora.
"And you ought to be more cautious before you lose your bottoms!," said Carly as she glared at the boys. "It's rude to run around with your winkies out in which it's best to have your bottoms handy!"
"They already got the message, fusspot," I said. "Besides, children have a need to play, but they should also tighten their swim trunks before going into the water next time."
"We're sorry," said Ghimru.
"It's okay, but you should also be careful when you jump in the water or else you won't see your swim trunks next time."
I retreated to my usual spot as I continued to read at my journal while I was watching the children play in the canal. Still, I was occupied by everything, but I also had to have balance in what was there for me, especially when it came to reading what I found over the years…
Mitani Clan homestead, Alecrast; 1,500 years ago…
Torune was in his old room as he was dressed in his nightclothes while laying down in the futon on the floor. Even though it was nighttime, he never forgot about how Shoko told him the truth last night. Even though he was back home, he never found it amusing as he remembered it to be a place that became more of a prison than a shelter of comfort. When he sat up, he looked at his ankle as he saw it to be cleaned up where Talvari shot him with her crossbow in which it was healing slowly. Laying back down, he was eager to go back to sleep until he heard a knock on the door. What he didn't expect was that Talvari was there as she was busy tending to the wound he had after she shot him, for she also didn't want him to nurse a grudge forever.
"Your wound is on the mend," she said as she placed some pillows over Torune's ankle.
"I'm used to humiliation," he answered as he was still feeling depressed. "After what I heard from my mother, I have pity for her, but my father is better off rotting in the dirt for what he did to me thirteen years ago."
"You mustn't bear a grudge forever. Besides, if you continue to hold onto it, it'll drain you dry."
"I'm only here briefly, for this isn't my place."
"This is your home and I also know that once you're on the mend, you'll end up going back to that old rotgut room."
"My clothes are in there."
"You mean these clothes?"
Torune noticed his old clothes folded up and placed on the dresser as Talvari remained in his room. Still, he wanted her to leave as he always wanted peace and quiet, but to no avail. When she saw her finally leaving his room, he was alone as he was also eager to keep it that way until Yoshinori entered into the room in which he was venting his frustrations towards him, for he wanted him gone from the homestead as soon as possible. He wasn't about to let Torune slide as he also demanded him to leave, for this place was reserved for those who exceed better standards.
"Look at you," he said. "You're all acting noble, but your presence is short-lived."
"I'm only here briefly, then I'm out," said Torune.
"You may have the gall to forgive our mother, but disrespecting our father?!"
Yoshinori pulled Torune out of bed as he began to beat him up. He was angered by the fact that Yasunori's memory was besmirched as he had to teach his younger brother a lesson in respecting the dead. Rage boiled over as he continued to attack him in which he felt satisfaction until he ended up getting jabbed in the face. With a bit of confidence, Torune stood up as he pinned down Yoshinori and was ready to punch him until he saw Shoko arriving to the shock that she saw, for this was a rude awakening that she never expected.
"Torune, stop," she said.
"I won't let Yoshinori bully me anymore," he said.
"Please, don't do this… He's your brother and he's all you've got for family along with Yukiko."
"Stay out of this, Mother. Yoshinori had no right to attack me!"
"You dishonored our father!" he yelled as he got up on his feet. "You should have some respect for him, even though he sired you just to crawl in the dirt!"
"And he already paid for his mistakes when that Terran killed him with the snap of his fingers," said Shoko. "You can't just cast your brother aside forever Yoshinori, for he is meant to protect us in this hour of need."
"I'm the only heir to to the Mitani Clan, not him!" Yoshinori slaps Shoko in the face as Torune gasps in shock. "You should show respect for me just like you do for Father and Yukiko! I am the sworn protector of the Mitani Clan in which I won't let that unnatural worm make a fool out of me!"
Yoshinori was ready to attack Shoko again as Torune stepped in to protect her. He didn't want his older brother to harm her as he ended up punching him in the face in which he ended up crying while he ended up soiling himself out of embarrassment. Even though he was gone for a long time, he had to protect Shoko from Yoshinori's wrath as he left the room, for he couldn't stand seeing a woman being hurt. In a certain way, he had to step up as he didn't want his mother to get hurt in which she has seen enough carnage for one day, for it was too much for her even after he returned home.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Your brother is always like that when he doesn't get his way," said Shoko as she had tears in her eyes. "He's become so much like your father in which he believes in our family's reputation than the well-being of others. It's been like this for a long time in which the Mitani Clan always had their pride worn on their sleeves. Still, it's what was there, but your brother still believes himself to be the sole heir who doesn't have any form of consequences."
"Sifu always told me that women are deemed sacred in which they're not only just wives and mothers, but heroes who live life on their own terms. He even attacked a man for hurting one in which he nearly broke his body for it. He always told us to show decency to a woman or else she'll hurt you in the long run. That was what we were taught while I was training all those years ago, but I bear no grudge against those who are deemed meek."
"Well, Talvari did hurt you in which you refused to fight back against her."
"I'm not like Yoshinori who flies off the handle nor Father. I was taught better than that when I trained with Sifu at the temple. And Talvari has a point in which she had her reasons to bring me here, for I can't turn my back on family nor lose my faith in the process. It's a promise that I made to Sifu and I won't let him down. I also can't let you get hurt anymore in which you also told me not to lose faith in our family. It's what we're made for, right?"
"Thank the maker that you now came home..."
It wasn't long until Torune felt his knees buckling when he fell to the floor. When he got back into his futon, he felt tired after getting attacked earlier the moment that he was aching all over, for he wanted to go to sleep after he defended Shoko from Yoshinori's cruelty…
Meanwhile, back in the present…
I continued to read at the journal as I also saw the children getting out of the canal just in time for lunch. Even though I was there, I kept to my reading as I never expected to know about how prideful that the Mitani Clan once was until now. It was something that even Ippei never boasted about as he always had respect for Torune as a whole. Still, I had to know more about how and why Torune was meant to stop Lucifer back in the day as his story was getting more interesting than ever, for it was a revelation that came into motion so far.
"There you are," said Reiko as she saw me reading the journal.
"This journal is interesting, but Torune hasn't had much of a basic start so far," I said.
"Grandfather always revered our ancestor in which he had to face his own personal demons when it came to standing firm."
"And he protected his mother, Shoko, from the wrath of his brother, Yoshinori, who became a bit of an ass when it came to being not just the heir to the Mitani Clan, but a chip off the old block from his father, Yasunori. Even Ippei complained about how the latter chose pride and social reputation over morality in which it pretty much changed the perspective of the Mitani Clan as a whole that we know today."
"Grandfather never cared for what his forebears did, but he admired Torune the most after what he went through. He was a man who had to protect everyone in which he was revered for standing up to Lucifer, for we're eternally grateful for his heroism."
I continued to read at the journal as Reiko sat down beside me. I was blessed that I knew about how Torune came into becoming the man who was revered in which the High Elf was someone who had to overcome his own personal demons first, for he had a long way to go before the big dance…
Mitani Clan homestead, Alecrast; 1,500 years ago…, again!
Torune was dreaming as he was back at the temple in Latchkey Village. He saw most of his brethren dead in which they were no match for Lucifer the moment he was walking closer to him. He was no match for the one who killed his chosen family as he felt himself sinking into the floor the moment he saw Lucifer standing in front of him, for he was doomed from the start.
"You'll never defeat me, for you can't kill the Devil," he said as he smirked.
It wasn't long until Lucifer snapped his fingers until Torune woke up gasping. He was back in his room as he was still in his futon in which he noticed several bandages on his body where Yoshinori attacked him. Laying back down, he rolled over as he noticed Talvari naked and sleeping next to him in which she was there by his side for a while. He may have had problems with her, but seeing her in his bed was beyond the pale as he didn't want in there to begin with. Getting up, he also noticed that Talvari grabbed his hand as she didn't want him to leave, for she was aware of him recovering from the beating he got from Yoshinori earlier.
"You shouldn't be in my bed," he said to her.
"It wasn't my idea, jackass," she said as she refused to budge.
"You only came here to be naked with me, but you should be focusing on your self-worth instead of debasing yourself."
"You had your ass handed to you in which you were aching while you were getting cleaned up. After that, while I was getting my own shower, your brother demanded that I sleep you because he considers it my duty to 'keep a man warm.' And if you're saying that if I 'did anything,' I didn't want to debase myself like you said in which I'm saving myself for marriage, but you can thank Shoko and Ginryu for putting us together in this mess. Still, you wandered in the streets, stayed in rotgut rooms, and found your way to the temple in Latchkey Village. What's even worse is that they married us by proxy so that I won't let you fly off the handle."
"They shouldn't be doing that…"
"Really? You should try having a bunch of ravenous wolves outside wondering if we consummated our marriage or not, but we might as well remedy that debacle just to throw the predators off the scent." Talvari starts to shake as Torune notices it directly. "If you're wanting to know more about me, a Draaza goes through hormones in which one must consummate their love so they won't turn into a ravenous monster. I've been used to it, but I can't put it off forever..."
Torune saw Talvari covering herself with a sheet as he had no other choice but to do his duty and take her. He never knew about sexual pleasure as he was often busy with training and chores the moment he had no other choice but to act on instinct. When he noticed her still shaking, he had to comfort her as he began to kiss her lips passionately. For a while, he kept his emotions in check as he had to let loose and not be too apathetic the whole time. When he felt at the sheet that Talvari had, he felt her hard nipples poking out of it as she was caught in a wave of pleasure. He was eager to learn this lesson after years of books, knowledge, errands, and training as he had to know more about what he was about to do.
What he didn't expect was that Talvari was grabbing at his member as he wanted him so badly. She felt enticed by him as he was mainly slightly muscular due to his years of training in which he began to touch at her soft flesh in which she moaned when he landed on top of her. She was his for the taking as she felt him spreading her legs open the moment he felt his member hardening up. He was ready for her as he crashed through her defenses the moment she felt his hot member throbbing inside of her He never did anything like this before as he had to navigate through the pleasure of what he was going through. He noticed Talvari wincing in pain as she held onto him while digging her nails into his back in which he began to thrust inward and outward. He was all over her as he was engulfed by the pleasure that he had, for he was now awakened with what he had all along.
"Oh, Torune…," said Talvari as she felt him continuing to give her pleasure.
It wasn't long until she felt him sucking on one of her nipples as he ended up tasting the soma that was waiting for him. The pleasure of it made him go harder as he kept going the moment he felt blood seeping on his bath due to Talvari holding onto his back. By the time they reached their climax, Torune felt more alive the moment he spilled his seed the moment he felt Talvari let go of him. Pulling out of her, he saw the blood between her legs as it some of it was on the futon the moment they got up and went towards the bathroom to clean up, for they had a long way to go in this moment of discovery and justice.
"I never felt anything like this before until now," said Talvari as she was cleaning herself near the wash basin. "At least the urges are quieter for once."
"I never done this before, but Sifu always told me that once anyone in our brethren gets with a woman to get married, he always plunges the first time and make her bleed," said Torune as he was also cleaning himself next to the wash basin. "It's ironic that we're young, but had to do our duty so that everyone would have the satisfaction that they want."
"After I get cleaned up, we're gonna have to clean your back."
"It's nothing serious…"
"'Nothing serious?' Those scratch marks will get infected if we don't treat them."
"Your aim is sharp, for your moments of pain finally woke me up."
"Really?" Talvari finished cleaning herself as she went towards the medicine to get out the first aid kit. "I've slapped you, punched you, shot you in the ankle with my crossbow, and now I claw your back up." She takes out some alcohol swabs as she cleaned the claw marks on Torune's back. "At first, you were this firebrand with a cold exterior, only for you to melt when you were told the truth. You should thank Ginryu for sending me there to find you and show more respect to your folks, especially your mom. She never lost faith in you after she saw your dad disown you in which she never gave up hope that you would return here. This is your home, now and forever, and no going into that rotgut room. You can't be apathetic forever."
Torune felt the bandages being put on his back as he began to admire Talvari's honesty. In the end of this debacle, he was slowly accepting what was put around him as he was more than likely to be brought to prominence, for he had to step up in order to move on and seek justice in the long run…
The next morning, Torune was up and alert as he heard a knock on his door. Getting up, he gently covered up Talvari as he got dressed in the clothes that he once had. By the time he opened it up, he spotted Ginryu there as he was eager to recruit him in the Order of Letters. Still, he was slowly processing what was going on as he had to be on point with what was going on, for he also wanted justice for his chosen family who lost their lives at the hands of Lucifer.
"Good morning, Torune," said Ginryu.
"What do you want from me?" he asked.
"I've come to recruit you to the Order. Your mother and grandmother are members of the Order of Letters in which their maiden families served us since its conception. As for your unique appearance as the conduit, you've been deemed a threat not only Lucifer, but any other monster that ever crawled all over the Ashizoka System: werewolf, vampire, demon, everything else. You have the ability to conjure any incantation that can turn the tide in our favor. If you join us, they we'll have you seek justice against your chosen family's killer."
"I'll do it… It's best to do so after what happened. All I want is to destroy Lucifer like he destroyed Sifu and most of my brethren."
"You may have the gall to do it, but you can't just let your anger get the better of you. Besides, you have a long way to go before you go to the big dance."
Torune was eager to accept Ginryu's offer as he made it his mission to stop Lucifer from harming any more innocent bystanders. When he left his room, he followed Ginryu as he made his way into the main hall where he spotted Shoko standing there holding a ring that looked plain the moment she gave it to him. Examining it, he noticed a familiar sigil etched into the inside of the ring as it was mainly a trinket that could save his life, for he would soon take it with him when the time was right.
"This ring has the Winchester Sigil crafted on the inside," said Shoko. "It's a symbol that can protect you from demonic possession in which it once belonged to Talvari's father who lost his life during the Orc Wars just like your late uncle."
"Then I'll hold onto it," said Torune as he put the ring on his finger.
"It seems that you're walking better in which your abilities helped to heal it."
"Last night, I had my first interlude in which there was also pain that comes with it."
"You and Talvari are a match," said Ginryu. "She's also a part of House Echezar until she lost her parents at the hands of vampires. She's also a member of the Order's special group of soldiers known as the Hunter Corps in which they do their job that was once said in the Elder Days and that is by saving people, hunting things, and upholding the family business. This is your best obligation in not only being a member of the Order, but representing your clan. As soon as you get to the Order's main headquarters here, we'll read up on the lore that delves into your chosen family's killer."
"Then I'll go by train…"
"Are you kidding me? Go by train?"
Talvari was fully dressed as she grabbed Torune by the arm the moment she led him to the outside of the homestead. When they got towards a dirt road, they stopped at a familiar car that was once legendary from the Elder Days. It was the Impala as it was recreated and in good condition the moment Torune looked inside. He saw the initials of the Winchesters of Old etched in the back as he also noticed a toy army man shoved into the ashtray. It was uncanny for him to see a relic that was preserved as he looked under the hood to see an ionic propulsion battery inserted into it in which it was better than running on gas. Still, he had to process what was put in front of him as Talvari got in on the driver's side while he entered on the passenger's side. Both of them were ready to go as Talvari started the engine while buckling up in which she was fiddling through a box of tapes that were older than everyone on this planet, for they were a plethora of what was left behind in the Elder Days.
"Okay, we have the usuals: Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Metallica, AC/DC, the works," she said as she flipped through the tapes. "At least we have what is needed." She inserted one of the tapes into the player as she turned on the radio. "Time to report to headquarters."
"The music isn't my kind of taste in this day and age," said Torune as he buckled up."
"Driver picks the tunes, shotgun shuts his cakehole."
Torune didn't say another word as Talvari began to drive the Impala away from the Mitani Clan homestead and straight to the Order's main headquarters on Alecrast. The long car ride was different than riding on the train as Torune looked out the window to see some of the locals going about their business while he remained silent the whole way. Still, he had to keep calm as he also had to get used to Talvari in all her glory, for he was also starting to have feelings for her despite the rocky start that brought them together in the first place…
Torune and Talvari arrived at the Order's main headquarters on Alecrast as they were seeing everyone coming and going. Like its original conception, everyone followed protocol as they did what was meant to be done by keeping the peace and helping those in need. When Talvari led Torune towards Ginryu's office, they were met with other members of the Order as they were happy to see them here, for this was also the beginning of a way and mean to seek justice. By the time they reached Ginryu's office, they saw him with a stack of books as he had them on his desk in which he had to show the lore of their worse enemy, for he was deemed a threat to even those in the afterlife as well.
"About time that you came here on your first day on the job, Torune," he said as he gave him a book.
"Those books are old," he said.
"Those books are a lot older than you, but they delve into the lore about the man who killed your chosen family. In the Elder Days, Lucifer reigned all over the Apocalypse in which he had his Four Horsemen to do his dirty work along with everything else that came with it. When Sam said yes to him and later sacrificed himself to stop it, his soul was in the cage with not only the petty archangel, but Michael as well. That was when he ran around soulless and later had his soul returned, but with a price to pay. The hallucination of Lucifer was a dangerous one in which it kept him sleepless for days, only for Castiel to reverse the damage by being a shell of himself in the process."
"So, Lucifer is a typical curse…"
"He's more than just a curse, jackass," said Talvari. "In the ancient days when Pendragon and the Matriarch departed, their kids took over in which one of them happens to be the Father of the bastard who killed your master and most of your brethren."
"I know..."
Torune looked at the book as he saw images of Lucifer's presence sketched into the pages. He never saw anything like it before as he also bore a grudge against the archangel who mercilessly slaughtered Yueqing and most of his Shaolin brethren in the temple. Still, he had to seek justice as he also swore to take down Lucifer for what he did to his chosen family, for it was his purpose that stood firm after all.
"I swear to the gods that I will avenge you, Sifu," he said to himself.
"You'll get your vengeance soon, but you should also tap into what was dormant in you the whole time," said Ginryu as he brought out some blank pieces of warding paper. "Starting now, can you master what you have?"
"Is this a joke?"
"It's not a joke when you have all that power to conduct incantations at random, jackass," said Talvari. "Being a conduit is a huge responsibility in which it's gonna be one hell of a bumpy ride along the way. Still, you can't go rushing on the battlefield half-cocked in which you need further training other than just your Shaolin mentality and street smarts. You need to channel what's dormant or else Lucifer will destroy this planet in a year."
"I'm a little rusty, but I'll manage. It's the most I can do in which I made a promise to Sifu in order to stay afloat. I will find and finish off Lucifer and avenge the deaths of my chosen family. That is what I'm made to do in the end."
Torune put the book down as he looked at the blank pieces of warding paper. When he picked up a piece of it, he grabbed a pen as he drew some calligraphy that was similar to what was on the walls of the temple the moment he saw it glowing. He also sensed an explosive presence in what he drew on the warding paper as he had to use his abilities to diffuse it for now. Even Ginryu was astonished to see him interested in what he was doing as he noticed his new recruit to have a much renewed purpose other than being stuck in the streets, for this was a revelation that became a reality…
In the next few months, Torune was busy mastering both family life and training as he was mainly writing any incantation he can think of on the warding paper that was given to him. His main types were the usual Shinto and Shaolin wards that could weaken any opponent as he was trying his best to be a part of the Order. With his training nearly complete, he was ready to report in on his progress as he went towards his quarters where Talvari was waiting for him. What he was about to notice was that his beloved had a surprise waiting for him, for she revealed it to him on a certain testing stick in her hands.
"Is something wrong?" he asked.
"The proof is in the stick, jackass," said Talvari as she showed it to him.
"You're pregnant, aren't you?" Talvari nods sincerely. "After spending a few months here training and helping you out, our petty lover's quarrel bore fruit after all."
"It'll be born a Cetra, but I hope to the gods that it'll be a boy so that we can wave it in Yoshinori's smug face when we see him again."
Torune noticed a newspaper on the table as he picked it up in which he noticed a familiar face making it on the front page. He had a gut feeling that Lucifer would make his mark once again as he also had to find him before it was too late, for his test was just the start of what was yet to come in this ongoing search for justice...
Meanwhile, back in the present…, again!
Moro was busy firing crossbow dummy rounds into the targets as she was also juggling at the concept of her current pregnancy. She had to have something to do as she was also dealing with the cleanup effort that was all over Skald Island. Even though she received letters from those who had close ties with the Mitani Clan, she also got word from Shigeru as he was busy leading the resistance to topple the Four Stewards, but couldn't lose her temper too much due to stress on what she carried. By the time she put away the dummy rounds for another day, she looked at her crossbow as she was on her way to the castle, she was greeted by Sura as she was running towards her, for she was simply there to see what she was up to.
"What are you doing outside?" she asked.
"I wanted to see what you were doing," said Sura.
"I was busy shooting dummy rounds, but I can't go hunting due to me carrying your baby brothers in me."
"They know, for they're Nephilim like me and Ippei Jr."
"Sooner or later, you'll protect your new papa and stepsisters along with your little brother and what I have in me." Moro shows Sura the crossbow. "You see this? This crossbow is a lot older than us in which it belonged to your ancestor, Talvari Mitani, who was a Draaza who had a fiery temper when things went sideways. She even shot a crossbow round into Torune's ankle when he kept getting pissy once he was forced to return home. In the end of that debacle, he forgave her in which he had feelings for her in which she was a part of him that kept him on the straight and narrow."
"There you are!"
Sigurthur rushed towards Moro as he escorted her inside of the castle in which he didn't want her to be doing too much due to her pregnancy. When he led her towards the sitting room, she sat down on the newly refurbished chair that was brought in to replace the one that was destroyed by the Zenith Vectors along with the rest of the furniture. Even the books were spared, but on a new shelf as they were also there for insight while being surrounded by a trio of leg lamps that adorned the sitting room. Even Sura was happy that the place was getting fixed as she sat down in another chair, for she was eager to greet her unborn siblings in the future.
"You shouldn't be going out too much," said Sigurthur cautiously.
"At least I'm not hunting right now," said Moro.
"I've been replying to the correspondence in which I can't let you go through the stress on what you carry. Even Authlin and Frithrun are eager to greet their new siblings once their born, but I can't let you be on your feet too much. I'll do the heavy lifting for you in which I can't just sit on the sidelines all the time."
"You're right about that one…"
"He means it, Mommy," said Sura. "You can't just carry heavy things around anyway..."
Moro feels at her swollen stomach as she felt the twins moving. Still, she was eager to tell them stories about the bravery their ancestors had as she also had to take a hiatus from hunting, for she didn't want to go through the stress of her pregnancy right now…
I returned to the villa as I was back in the sitting room in which I kept reading at the journal that Torune left behind. Still, I never expected him to be pulled to be a part of the Order before as he was also getting used to his abilities to create incantations that were beneficial to everyone until his final breath. I never expected him to be riding in the Impala towards the Order of Letters before as I also marveled at how he was getting used to crafting and writing incantations at random. In this unmentionable debacle, I also had a great respect for the Mitani Clan's ancestor as he was also finding his footing, for he was mainly there to combat a threat that nearly engulfed Alecrast centuries ago.
When I got up, I took my journal with me as I left the sitting room the moment I saw Reuben standing there in the main hall as he was there to check up on me. Still, I had to deal with him as he was mainly on call when it came to tending to patients all over the village. As for my own predicament, I had to report in as I was mainly the Order's resident guinea pig, for he was also there for support after all.
"Still reading that journal?" he said to me.
"From what I read, Torune had to master his dormant abilities in a year in which he remained focused while staying on task," I said. "Ginryu wasn't making it easy for him, but he soldiered on till the bitter end."
"According to what I heard in the annals, the battle against Lucifer occurred in the same ravine that became known as the Kingdom by the River that we know today. These days, it's nothing but a stagnant shithole when the Stewards sent in their troops to destroy everything in there."
"And Shigeru is still fighting to restore our family on the throne…"
"That's one hell of a shit show when it comes to dealing with Lucifer…"
I saw a familiar face enter into the main hall as he was dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and shorts complete with a pair of sandals on his feet. It was Nimi as he was there to voice his opinion about what he experienced centuries ago. Still, he had respect for Torune as he also remembered what went down, for he was staring at the journal in my hands.
"It's been a while, Nimi," I said.
"Yeah, but with the war ending and Alecrast's resident Karens still holding onto power, that planet's slowly turning into a fucking popsicle stand," he said. "Still, if we don't get Dean to the throne, then everything on Alecrast will be more like the North Pole with Christmas trees adorning it with a grave vengeance."
"Shigeru and his forces laid low so far, but we should also be cautious once we make the journey to Alecrast," said Reuben. "Let's hope that everyone there hasn't froze in the cold spots…"
"For the record, the only bastions left on that popsicle stand are Shilla, and Kanto Village. The cold spots aren't stopping in which Torune would roll in his grave if he saw that and he really did step up to kick Lucifer's ass back in the day…"
"Lucifer was a nuisance, but he was also a curse that plagued the Mitani Clan for a long time, only for Torune to face off against him in the end," I said. "Still, he was known by many names: Satan, Old Scratch, the Man Downstairs, and others. He was feared by those who made demon deals in which he met so many fates coming to him starting with what happened in the Elder Days with the Apocalypse. Centuries later, he was out of his cage and causing trouble in which he wanted to do away with Torune due to his role as the conduit, for it was his own burden to bear back in the day..."
I looked at the journal as I would soon read into what was going on in which there was more to this story than meets the eye. Still, I marveled Torune's courage to overcome everything as he was more than likely to be dealing with what was yet to come, for this was the beginning of the battle that was about to start…
To be continued...
