Well, this was a concept that was on my mind for quite some time, but hey, I finally gathered the will to put it on paper.
I also made this as an excuse to imagine how interactions between students and servants would go, hehe.
Regarding the student-servant pair to begin this story...
... Yeah, I wanted to make this student-servant from the fic's very inception, haha.
Enjoy, and I hope I did their characters justice!
"And that's the last of your documents for today, Sensei." Hayase Yuuka said, placing down a stack of papers.
"Thanks Yuuka," Sensei nodded, stretching his arms. "It's been a long day, and it would've taken me until midnight."
"Well, it would've been much quicker if you hadn't spent the allowance I sent you on this 'gunpla'." Yuuka remarked, rolling her eyes.
Sensei pouted slightly and said. "Hey, those figures are limited-time, so I had to buy them before they run out!"
"Excuses, excuses." The treasurer shook her head with a sigh.
"Well, in any case, I have other students to attend to." Sensei said, deciding to drop the subject and smiled at his student. "You can take the rest of the day off."
"Thank you, Sensei." Yuuka bowed, but then had a stern look on her features. "Just make sure not to spend too much, okay?"
"Hehe, no promises."
"Hmph, you better!"
With that, the Millennium treasurer proceeded to leave the SCHALE office. She didn't pay any heed to the students passing by her, not even giving them a quick glance, as she seemed to be focused on something else.
"Yuuka-san!"
"Huh!?"
However, while she made a point of ignoring them for whatever reason, it didn't mean that the same also applied for her.
Yuuka turned around and saw Tendou Aris smiling brightly at her, which lowered whatever tension was building up inside her.
"Aris-chan…" She trailed off, relaxing her shoulders. "What can I do for you?"
"Is Sensei still in his office?" The smaller girl asked, lightly jumping in place. "Aris wants to show him a game that a new friend helped me make!"
So little Aris managed to make another friend from outside the Game Development Department? That was good to hear, considering her unique mannerisms.
However, Yuuka could hear a deep chuckle from the back of her mind, causing her to freeze in place, which didn't go unnoticed.
"Hm, what's wrong?"
Aris' question snapped her out of her stupor and realize that the former was staring at her, with her head tilted in curiosity.
"I-It's nothing!" Yuuka stammered, shaking her head. "I'm just tired, so I'll see you tomorrow!"
She turned around and made her to the elevator as fast as she could, leaving Aris behind as she did.
"Bye bye~!" She didn't seem to mind and waved at her.
Ding.
From inside the elevator, Yuuka let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding and leaned against the wall.
"Your peers are quite the interesting ones, master." A deep masculine voice spoke inside the girl's mind, his tone laced with amusement.
In response, her expression twisted into a glare and looked up at the ceiling.
"Did you really have to laugh like that? I nearly got caught! "
"I would suggest working on your poker face better. It won't be the last time you'll find yourself in situations like that."
"What…? Are you suggesting that I shouldn't trust my friends!"
"I'm not telling you to distrust them, per se. I only advise you to exercise caution in future interactions."
"That doesn't sound any better…"
"I'm only trying to ensure your safety. The last thing we need is potentially getting ambushed again."
"If you hadn't saved me that day, Archer…" Yuuka's thoughts trailed off.
The girl looked down on her right hand, before taking off her glove. On her palm were three red markings that's shaped as a modified version of the Millennium logo.
It was a sign that she was a master and that the voice she spoke to was her "servant".
Yuuka felt herself shudder as she wore her glove again, idly noticing the elevator about to reach the ground floor.
"While I admire your work ethic, I do agree with your teacher that you should be getting some rest." Archer said, his tone taking on a more stern one.
"I know that, but I can't just shake the feeling that something might happen."
"Hm, do you want me to cook you something for dinner?"
"No thanks, I'm not feeling hungry…"
"I see then, but make sure to rest regardless."
Ding.
Letting out a yawn, Yuuka exited the elevator and made her way out of the SCHALE building, passing by other students as she did.
Fortunately, Archer said nothing for the remainder of the walk, which put her mind at ease.
It took her thirty minutes at most to reach the Millennium district, and a couple of more to reach her dorm room.
She would never admit it to anyone, but she sometimes wished she commissioned a teleportation device from Utaha from the Engineering Club.
At the same time, however, she knew that she didn't trust the eccentric girl to create an invention without going overboard and inevitably backfiring.
Perhaps she needed a vacation one day?
Click. Creak.
Yuuka sighed as she walked inside and shrugged off her jacket, before moving to take off her shoes and socks.
Afterwards, she wasted no time finding her bed and then slumped on top of it, not even bothering to change out of her uniform.
"Honestly, the fact that you retain your sanity while fulfilling such an important role is nothing short of a miracle." Archer decided to speak up.
"Someone has to keep the school from blowing up one day." Yuuka mentally replied, turning her body over to find a comfortable position.
"Your peers' various quirks do remind me of several servants I fought alongside with."
"Is that so?"
Ever since she was told about the existence of "servants" and Magecraft, Yuuka felt her world slowly turn upside down as she still processed everything that had been happening in the past week.
Changing her position to lie on her back, the girl took off her glove again and raised her hand above her head to look at the markings on her palm once more.
Archer had referred to them as "command spells", and that she doesn't use them under any circumstance, unless it was absolutely necessary.
She closed her eyes and still remembered that fateful night vividly like it was yesterday.
XXX (One Week Ago) XXX
Yuuka stood in absolute shock and couldn't move from her position, as she watched the shadowy figure fall to its knees and fade away.
"Are you alright, master?"
She whipped her head towards the source of the voice and saw a tall white-haired tanned man, clad in what looked like black skin tight armor with red sleeves and a skirt-like cloth around his waist.
His expression was that of complete seriousness, until it changed into one of subtle concern.
Yuuka realized that his gaze was directed towards her, which prompted her to quickly get on her feet and reach out for her twin SIG MPXs.
"Who are you!?" She stammered, aiming her guns at the mysterious man before her.
On top of the fact that he had somehow come out of nowhere, but he was also a human male just like Sensei!
"Master, I believe you're overreacting." The man remarked with a sigh.
"Answer my question, dammit!" Yuuka growled, resisting the urge to open fire. "And why did you just call me 'master'!?"
However, as soon as the words left her lips, she felt a stinging pain on her right hand, causing her to drop one of her guns.
"Ack!"
The student fell to her knees and gripped her hand, the source of her current pain, closing her eyes and clenching her teeth as she did.
Before she could process anything else, she felt a different pair of hands grab onto hers, much to her surprise.
Yuuka looked up and saw the white-haired man focused on her right hand, as he reached out for the glove that covered it.
"What are you…?"
The man gently took off the glove from her hand, which revealed three glowing red markings, which turned her surprise into complete shock.
"H-Huh!?"
Yuuka rubbed her other hand on the markings, but much to her frustration, they remained where it was, as if permanently etched into her skin.
"Command seals." The white-haired man spoke. "Just as I thought, you're my master."
"Again with the 'master', what does that mean!?" Yuuka exclaimed, narrowing her eyes at the suspicious adult before her.
"I'm not particularly knowledgeable in this area, but I will explain to the best of my ability."
XXX (The Present) XXX
After a rather detailed explanation from the "servant", it took Yuuka a while to come to terms with what had happened to her, and slightly longer for her to form a proper contract with him.
She sighed and reached out for a pillow, and then pulled it close to her body.
Thinking back, she had been too harsh on the man that saved her that night. If it weren't for his timely intervention, she wasn't sure if even her halo could protect her from the shadow figure's attacks.
"I know what you're thinking about, master." Archer decided to make himself known. "I'm used to being treated with distrust, so I don't particularly blame you for feeling that way."
"It's still not right…"
"Then what do you intend to do next?"
" … "
…
After what felt like a lengthy silence, Yuuka sat up from her bed and gazed towards the wall.
"Archer, you can come out." She said, putting her glove back on.
Almost immediately, blue particles manifested around one spot of her room, until the white-haired man materialized before her.
He had his arms crossed and looked at her with a neutral expression.
"Archer, take me to the top of Millennium tower, please." Yuuka requested, standing up from her bed.
"Are you sure about that?" Archer replied, his lips moving slightly upwards. "The last time I carried you, it took a bit more effort."
The student swiftly turned towards him with flushed cheeks and pointed accusingly at his amused expression.
"I-I thought I told you not to buy into what they said!" She stammered, pouting. "I swear-"
"I merely jest, master." The white-haired man said, shaking his head.
Yuuka frowned and approached the servant, with her right hand against her chest.
"You don't have to call me 'master' all the time." She said, looking up at the taller man's eyes. "I have a name, you know?"
"You want me to call you by your name?" Archer asked, raising an eyebrow. "You do know the risk behind such a request, correct?"
"I know that, but…" Yuuka mumbled, rubbing at her arm. "It just feels wrong to be called that when I haven't done anything to deserve it…"
Archer stared at her for a few seconds, and then let out a sigh.
"Very well then, Yuuka." He stated, referring to his master by her first name.
Yuuka nodded at this and turned towards the door, approaching her discarded shoes and socks as she did. She also made sure to bring her guns with her, just in case anything happened.
"Come on, I need some fresh air." She said, putting on her footwear before reaching for the doorknob.
The girl also felt that she wanted to know her "servant" on a more personal level, after spending a week mostly communicating with him in his "spirit form", as he called it.
It took more than a couple of minutes for Archer to carry Yuuka up to the top of Millennium tower, with a surprising amount of ease.
"He said that it took a bit more effort to carry me last time." The student thought, as she was on the taller man's back. "I wonder how much he's holding himself back."
From what she remembered of his explanation on "Heroic Spirits", she figured that he was much stronger than he looked.
If he was any indication, she wondered what the other Heroic Spirits were like? He referred to himself as "Archer", and mentioned six other classes.
Could she be the only student with a command seal?
The girl shook her head and sighed. She could think about it at a later time. For now, she wanted some fresh air and a nice view of Millennium from above its tallest tower.
"We're here." Archer said, as he reached the rooftop of the tower.
Yuuka was let down gently by the servant, before she took a step forward and looked straight at the sunset.
"With how much I bury myself in work, I never knew how beautiful the sun could be…" She thought to herself.
The Seminar treasurer slowly sat down on the edge of the tower, allowing her legs to hang free as she took in the majestic sight from above.
"Enjoying the view?" Archer asked, standing right behind her.
"Yeah." She nodded in response. "It feels nice to just kick back once in a while."
The taller man decided to follow his master's lead and sat down as well, but in a cross-legged position, as opposed to letting his feet hang off the edge.
Both of them sat in silence and enjoyed the view.
…
"I wonder…" Yuuka thought, turning her gaze towards her servant.
She knew that asking him about it would be too early, but her growing curiosity got the better of her.
"What were you like?" She asked, glancing at his eyes. "What were you like before you, well, became like this?"
" … " Archer said nothing, which only worried the girl.
Did she strike a nerve? She knew the risk of asking him about his background like this, but she didn't want to potentially strain whatever partnership they were building.
"… Sorry, I shouldn't have asked." Yuuka closed her eyes and sighed.
It was stupid. She wanted to get to know him more, but had no idea how else to-
"A long time ago, a young boy had the foolish dream of becoming a Hero of Justice." Archer spoke up, crossing his arms.
"Huh?" Yuuka blinked. She didn't expect him to actually answer her question.
"His path was long and filled with hardship, but in the end, he realized the full extent of his ideals and the pain it caused." The man added, looking directly at his master. "That is all I can share with you."
The girl was confused by the short story he told. "Young boy? Who was he referring to-"
She widened her eyes, having fully absorbed the meaning behind his words.
"That young boy…" Yuuka muttered. "That was you, wasn't it?"
The only response she received was a simple nod.
…
The silence returned to the master and servant, with a hint of awkwardness on the former's end.
"… Do you think there are more of these Heroic Spirits out there…?" Yuuka asked, looking ahead as the sky had turned dark.
She didn't want to think about the possibility of other students, especially here at Millennium, having command seals like her and servants that followed them.
However, she also didn't want to discard the possibility entirely. She prided herself in her abilities and being able to adapt to different situations, so she would be an idiot not to consider every possible scenario.
"That Aris girl." Archer answered, briefly glancing at his master. "Throughout the week, I felt a strange energy coming from her."
Yuuka frowned at this and clutched the edges of her skirt.
"Earlier, when she mentioned having a new friend," The counter guardian continued, eyeing his master for her reactions. "I have a feeling that she might have a servant of her own."
"But… I didn't notice any markings on her hand." Yuuka mumbled, shaking her head. "You said that command seals were located on the hand, right?"
"You would be correct," Archer conceded, but narrowed his eyes. "However, there have been cases where command seals are located in other parts of the body, usually parts that can be easily hidden by clothing."
This only deepened Yuuka's frown, as her mind scrambled to consider the man's words.
She didn't want to consider sweet little Aris being in the same situation as she was, but she was targeted by Rio for a reason and her entire existence was nearly otherworldly.
Before she could linger on her thoughts further, a loud piercing scream came into her ears, which widened her eyes in alert.
The scream itself came by and faded out very quickly, but Yuuka didn't want to wait around and knew what she needed to do.
"Archer."
"Lead the way, Yuuka."
She narrowed her eyes at the direction of the scream and raised her twin SIG MPXs.
"Please… help me…"
A Millennium student cried out as she was held above the ground by a shadowy figure, with its appearance completely obscured by its overwhelming aura.
The figure let out an incomprehensible growl as it dug its claws into the student's shoulders and torso, which was hard enough to draw blood, in spite of her halo.
"Someone… please…" The student closed her eyes shut. "I don't want to die…!"
The shadow raised one of its claws and was about to attack.
SLASH! Bang! Bang! Bang!
A red blur came by and sliced off the shadow's "arm", along with well-timed bullets to its "face", causing it to let out a screech and throw the student away in the midst of its wild movements.
Thud!
The student landed on the ground, with the amount of blood she was losing causing her vision to fade away.
"Archer!"
"I'll handle this one, master!"
"Huh…? Is someone there…?" The student thought, as she was losing her consciousness.
"I'm coming, just hang in there!"
"Ah… so I'm saved…" The student found the strength to smile, despite the pain she was in. "I'm glad…"
Meanwhile, Yuuka reached the Millennium student on time and knelt down in front of her.
"Hey, stay with me!" She yelled, reaching her hands out to help her.
After a few inspections, she realized that the student had passed out from the blood loss caused by the shadow creature.
"What do I do? How do I help her?"
She was so used to halos protecting herself and other students from serious harm that she was unprepared for the bleeding and unconscious state of some random one before her.
"Should I call for help?" She thought, pursing her lips.
If she did, that would risk Archer being spotted and she would be questioned on why she has him seemingly stuck to her side.
There's also the potential question on why the student in need of help was bleeding to begin with.
"I hate feeling like this…"
She didn't like the fact that she was unsure of what to do, as the many things happening at the moment were completely foreign to her.
"Come on, you're better than this. I need to-"
"Master, watch out!"
"Huh?"
SLASH!
Another shadow figure screeched in pain as it fell forward, prompting Yuuka to quickly jump out of the way, barely taking the injured student with her in the process.
She looked up and saw Archer letting out a sigh, as he tightened his grip on two blades, with one black and the other white. She remembered him calling them Kanshou and Bakuya in passing during one of their conversations.
"You need to be more aware of your surroundings." The servant lightly chastised, sparing her a quick glance. "I thought you were more cautious than this."
Yuuka winced at this, looking at the injured student and then herself. She knew he had a point, as she was normally more aware of what was happening around her, but the current situation at hand caused her to hesitate.
"I know you want to help that girl, but you can't do that if you let the enemy catch you off guard like this." Archer continued, his tone firm yet gentle. "You're more than capable of defending yourself, your actions prior to our contract showed that."
The student looked down at the injured student again, before she clenched her fists and shifted her gaze towards her own twin guns.
Archer was right. She was better than this. This moment of hesitation didn't fit her whatsoever. She knew what she needed to do next.
The Seminar treasurer stood up and pulled out her guns, glancing between her servant and the injured student.
"Please hang on for a few minutes." She thought, before turning around to face the shadow figures.
It looked like they had recovered long enough from the attacks they received, and looked aggravated, despite their lack of expressions.
"Archer, go on ahead." Yuuka calmly ordered. "I'll provide cover."
The servant didn't need to be told twice as he charged towards one of the shadow figures, with Kanshou and Bakuya in hand.
SLASH!
Upon receiving the sudden attack, the shadow growled and attempted to swipe its claws, only for its opponent to quickly roll out of the way.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Before it could attack again, gunshots stopped it in its tracks and turned its attention towards Yuuka, who was aiming her guns directly at it.
"I've got you!" She thought, narrowing her eyes.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Fwoosh!
As soon as she opened fire, the shadowy entity disappeared in an instant, much to her confusion.
"Where did it-"
Swipe!
"Grgh!"
Yuuka barely dodged the full attack on time when the shadow almost instantly appeared at her side, in which her left shoulder received a scratch that was deep enough to cause some bleeding.
The student gritted her teeth, trying her hardest to ignore the pain afflicting her shoulder.
Letting out a low growl, the entity went in for another swipe, prompting its opponent to dodge the attack by jumping backwards.
This didn't deter the shadow figure at all.
Swipe! Swipe! Swipe! Swipe! Swipe!
It was attacking relentlessly over and over, with seemingly no sign of exhaustion, while Yuuka tried to avoid each one, receiving only minor cuts on her clothing as she did.
Seeing its opponent jump further backward, the beast went in for a larger swipe.
SWIPE! Clang!
Realizing she had no time to dodge properly, Yuuka used one of her guns to shield herself, causing it to gain a crack in the process.
She found herself locked in a struggle with her enemy, but realized that if she kept this up for even a bit longer, her gun would sustain some permanent damage.
Clenching her teeth, she gathered some energy into her leg and raised it against the entity's torso.
"Yaahhh!"
Thud!
The shadow was briefly sent flying backwards by a surprisingly strong kick from Yuuka, which only made it angrier as it prepared to lunge at her.
"Now!"
She reached out for her trusted calculator inside her jacket as fast as she could.
Swipe! Bzzzzt!
In a matter of seconds, the entity was almost immediately in front of her and made another swipe, only for it to collide against an energetic barrier.
Yuuka was breathing as sweat went down her forehead, trying her hardest to fight through the pain on her left shoulder.
"You freak, come at me!" She taunted her enemy, preparing for another onslaught of attacks.
This seemed to do the trick as the shadow grew more "arms" and proceeded to launch them all at the hard-light shield.
Swipe! Bzzzzt! Swipe! Bzzzzt! Swipe! Bzzzzt! Swipe! Bzzzzt! Swipe! Bzzzzt!
Yuuka narrowed her eyes and stood her ground, as the entity relentlessly assaulted her barrier. She even made sure to keep her feet planted to prevent herself from being pushed back.
"I can't just stay on the defensive forever…" She thought, gritting her teeth.
The student knew that her barrier wouldn't last much longer, as it was made to withstand gunshots, as opposed to the melee attacks from this mysterious-looking creature with no discernable features.
Swipe! Bzzzzt! Crack.
"Crap!"
She needed to be on the offensive. Fast. Otherwise, she knew that she would receive more than just another scratch to the shoulder.
Meanwhile, Archer was having an easier time against his enemy, having fought similar enemies before.
Swipe! Swipe! Swipe!
The servant effortlessly dodged the shadow's attacks, even jumping back a good distance to bait his opponent into attacking again.
It did the trick, as the shadow lunged forward with its claws ready to attack.
Fwoosh! Swipe!
Slash!
As soon as his enemy came close, Archer immediately ducked under its claws, before using the window of time to slash its main "body" from underneath.
The shadow staggered back and attempted to attack its opponent, who quickly stepped sideways to avoid its claw, and then raised his blades.
SLASH! SLASH!
Letting out a dying gurgle, the shadow fell to its knees and faded away, leaving behind some dark-colored ash.
"Archer!"
The servant turned around and saw his master holding out against the other shadow, with her barrier showing multiple cracks, indicating how close it was to breaking completely.
Without any hesitation, Archer sped forward at the attacking shadow.
Slash!
The shadow let out a hiss and was pushed away from the hard-light barrier, which was inches away from shattering.
"Now for some payback!"
Yuuka let out a shout as she charged at the disoriented shadow, with her barrier raised in front of her.
BASH! SHATTER!
The shadow was pushed back and hit the ground, while the student's calculator shield had broken apart into pieces from the impact.
"Using your calculator like that," Archer remarked, letting Kanshou and Bakuya fade away. "I believe you earned the right to put it down."
Yuuka nodded at him and walked towards the downed shadow figure, which was struggling to stand on its own.
From what she observed, it seemed that while they hit hard, even able to pierce through her halo's protection, they weren't able to receive hits in return, which was quite convenient in her opinion.
She raised her SIG MPXs at the struggling shadow, her fingers already at the triggers.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The shadow let out one last hiss before it crumbled to the ground and faded away.
Yuuka let out a sigh and said, "This wasn't how I imagined it would go."
"You better get used to it, Yuuka." Archer stated, crossing his arms. "I believe that what we faced were the weaker ones, judging from how easy they went down."
"You mean there's more of them?" Yuuka asked, her eyes widened slightly.
"I fought similar ones like them before, and they usually have stronger variants." The servant answered, closing his eyes.
"I see…" The student frowned, looking at the ground.
So they were only the weaker ones, which meant that there could be strong ones out there, potentially making the lives of the residents miserable.
This also meant that if she had faced a stronger one…
She shuddered to herself and thought, "No, don't you think about it right now."
"Yuuka, I spot someone you're very familiar with over there." Archer spoke up, before blue particles manifested around his body. "We will continue this in your room."
With that, her servant had changed into spiritual form, leaving her alone.
"Wait, aren't I forgetting-"
Yuuka widened her eyes and turned her attention to the unconscious injured student.
She had completely forgotten about her during her struggle against the shadow!
"Yuuka!"
The student turned around and saw a familiar adult figure approach her, his face etched with concern.
"S-Sensei!?" Yuuka stammered, shifting from where she was standing. "What brings you here?"
The adult man frowned as he got closer and closer, until he was in front of her and then reached out to gently touch her shoulder.
"You're hurt…" He muttered, his frown deepening at the sight of bleeding on his student. "What happened?"
"Well…" Yuuka trailed off, her eyes returning to the student she and her servant had saved.
Sensei widened his eyes in shock with his mouth agape, before quickly running towards the student's unconscious body.
"What happened to her!?" He asked, kneeling down to check the student's pulse.
Beat.
The man let out a sigh of relief, before turning his gaze towards Yuuka, who stood behind him.
"Just… what happened?"
"We got attacked." Yuuka answered with a sigh, seeing no point in trying to lie. "Whatever attacked us, it was strong enough to pierce through our halos."
"I see then…" Sensei muttered under his breath.
"He seems to be taking this very well." Archer remarked inside the student's mind.
"Well, he's the adult here, so it's only natural."
"Perhaps…"
"… Yuuka, take her to the infirmary, now." Sensei ordered, looking directly at his student. "I have an important call to make."
Without waiting for a reply, the adult man turned around and ran off, much to Yuuka's surprise.
"I thought he would stay to help carry her…" She mumbled, before shaking her head. "Archer, please help me get her to the infirmary."
The servant materialized into existence and proceeded to walk towards the injured student, before bending down to pick her off the ground and into his arms.
"I'll have to make a better explanation for these injuries." Yuuka mused, wincing slightly upon touching her left shoulder.
"She's ready to be lifted to safety," Archer said, before a smirk appeared on his features. "Though I must say, she's at least much lighter than you are, Yuuka."
"W-What the-!?" This snapped the student out of her thoughts, complete with a flushed expression. "You-"
Archer let out a small chuckle and shook his head, "My apologies, that friend of yours is certainly correct in how easy you are."
"You…" Yuuka muttered, before raising her right hand. "Do you want me to use a command spell just to shut you up!?"
"I would advise against that." The servant snarked, unfazed by his master's threat.
This only caused her face to turn redder. "I swear I'll do it! Just you see!"
Despite the embarrassment she was feeling, Yuuka knew that it was a sign that she was slowly becoming more comfortable in Archer's presence, even though it will take a long time for her to admit it.
"So they're moving quicker than I thought…"
Those were Sensei's thoughts as he returned to his office at SCHALE, before placing his hands on top of his desk and closed his eyes in concentration for whatever reason.
"The fact that the entities can seriously harm them is…"
It was concerning. He has seen their halos protect them from many things, even the worst of what their weapons here in Kivotos had to offer, so knowing that it was bypassed by them added to how much they felt out of place.
He let out a sigh and looked ahead with a frown and cold look in his eyes that no student had even seen him with.
"Avenger, have you checked the area for more of those… things?" He asked seemingly no one in the room.
…
For a moment, it seemed like nothing would respond to his words.
"I sense no entity within the vicinity of Millennium, master." A voice with a French accent spoke up. "The ones that your student and her servant have slain were the only ones there, at least for now."
The shadow behind Sensei seemed to move on its own, until a man of similar height and build appeared behind him, kneeling before him on one knee.
The man himself had messy white hair, deep red eyes, and pale skin. He was wearing a grayish black suit with intricate silver accents, a white shirt underneath with a long red cloth that was a mix of a necktie and a scarf, and black shoes. He was also wearing a black and gray wide-brimmed hat on his head.
He stood up to properly look at his master, while the dark aura surrounding him seemed to have a life of its own.
Sensei turned around to glance at his servant, his serious expression being a far cry from the warm and caring one he puts on for the students on a daily basis.
"Did you sense any other servants within Millennium, besides Yuuka's Archer?" He asked, turning around to fully face the Avenger class servant.
The servant closed his eyes and answered. "I have sensed one other Archer, two Sabers, two Casters, two Riders, one Berserker, and three Lancers."
So there were more servants than that? That was concerning, he would have to look into the other schools just in case, as he knew Millennium wasn't the only one.
However, if there were already this many servants within Millennium alone, he could only imagine how many were in the likes of Gehenna and Trinity, as well as the others after them.
"The only thing I don't get…" Sensei mumbled, narrowing his eyes. "Why are servants suddenly appearing here, when there's no indication of a Holy Grail War so far."
"If I may interject," Avenger spoke up. "There may be others outside of the children and yourself that have servants of their own."
That was certainly possible. Hell, he wouldn't be surprised if someone like Black Suit had a servant at his beck and call.
So many questions that didn't have answers at the moment, but he won't give up in finding them, no matter how long it will take him.
"For now, keep an eye out if other extra class servants have been summoned." Sensei ordered with a sigh, knowing that this was the only thing he could do for now. "The last thing I want is for a student to potentially summon a Foreigner, a Pretender, or even another Avenger."
Avenger nodded and bowed, before retreating back into his master's shadow.
The adult man shook his head and looked out the window of his office, his mind racing with several thoughts at once.
However, his main one throughout all of this was…
"Just what the hell is going on that warrants this many servants to be summoned here in Kivotos…?"
If you made it to the end, congralutions! I'll certainly try and come up with better than what I just put out, because I know I could do better than this.
Anyways, thanks for ready and enjoy the ride!
