"Abby's going to be out of a town for a few more days, so until then, please avoid getting yourselves killed." Laurel said to Oliver, Tatsu and Luke after she'd gotten off the phone with the team medic, who had yet to clear for combat duty, much to Laurel's annoyance.
"Between Tatsu and I, we should have enough medical knowledge to hold ourselves over, but for now, let's focus on the mission at hand. Taking down Ted Gaynor." Oliver said, right as the lights of the Barracks flickered and when they came back on, Oliver growled at who he saw standing in the middle of his secret lair.
"Hello Oliver, it's been a long time." Amanda Waller said with a blank expression her face as several of her most trusted commandos stood at her side.
"Not long enough Amanda. Give me one good reason why Tatsu and I shouldn't kill you right now, since you have to know that you're not welcome here." Oliver growled and he could tell that Tatsu was having just as much trouble stopping herself from killing Waller as he was.
"Who is this and why do you want to kill her?" Laurel asked.
"You must be the famous Laurel Lance." Waller said, only to have Oliver's glare at her intensify.
"Look at her again, not even your best agents will be able to save you from me." Oliver said.
"I see you're still mad at me." Waller said.
"You forced me to work for you and your negligence led to the death of a child and me nearly getting killed more than once over the duration of two years, while you threatened to kill everyone I loved if I dared to disobey. So yes, I'm still mad at you and while you're at the top of my list, you're still on it. So you'd better tell me what the hell you want right now, because otherwise your trip here will be one way." Oliver said.
"And you have to know that I have contingencies in place to expose your operations if anything happens to me." Waller said.
"Which is known as mutually assured destruction, since you tell on me, we tell on you, every dirty operation you've ever touched that your superiors in DC wouldn't approve of." Oliver said and Waller smiled grimly.
"Then it's a good thing I'm here because I could use your assistance." Waller said.
"I don't work for you anymore Amanda and you know that you can't conscript me now that the world knows I'm alive." Oliver said.
"I have an agent missing." Waller said.
"And the reason we should care about that is?" Tatsu asked.
"The agent in question is a friend of yours, Lyla Michaels." Waller said.
"John's wife." Oliver said.
"And my second in command. Suffice it to say we both have a vested interest in this." Waller said.
"I still don't get why you're coming to us instead of sending in an Argus strike force or that you even care enough about any agent to send in an extraction?" Oliver asked.
"Because of who abducted her. An acquaintance of yours named Ted Gaynor." Waller said.
"Why would Gaynor take Lyla?" Laurel asked, but Oliver understood.
"To force John to work for him in some kind of job. But I'm more concerned about how any of Gaynor's men could take Argus's second in command so easily." Oliver said, since he'd met Lyla before and there was no way any of Gaynor's men could've taken her too easily.
"I'll take this one boss." one of the agents said.
"I'm Agent Jake Gamble and I'm Lyla's partner for Argus's elite shadow unit. The only reason I'm not currently out there looking for her is because we were jumped by some lunatic on Venom." Jake said.
"Venom?" Laurel asked.
"It's the street name for the steroid Bane uses to give himself super strength. I wasn't aware it was used anywhere else in the states, since I thought that Bane hoarded the supply for himself." Luke said.
"We've been attempting to track Venom shipments in and out of the country since Bane first surfaced in Gotham, but he's smart enough to know how to keep his operations hidden. But now we have a chance to not only save Agent Michaels, but maybe even get a lead on how Bane gets Venom into this country, allowing us to cut off his supply." Waller said.
"I hate to admit it Oliver, but she has a point." Tatsu said, though it looked like it physically pained her to say that.
"I know. But if you're coming to us Amanda, then that means that we do this my way, you get no say in how we handle matters and when all is said and done, you never come back here unless one of your screw ups puts my city at risk." Oliver said.
"I'd expect nothing less. And the whole reason I came to you is to avoid having Argus's fingerprints over this op, since this is already up your alley. And while I'll leave this to your discretion, if you're going to use Argus intel and resources to cross a name off your list, then I insist that you have two of my agents work with you." Waller said.
"Fine. Which ones?" Oliver asked, knowing better than to argue.
"Agent Gamble here for and for the other, well, Agent Lance should suffice." Waller said with a grin.
"What?" Laurel asked as one of the other agents removed their helmet to reveal the face of Sara Lance.
"Well, this is awkward." Sara said, thinking both she and her sister had a lot of explaining to do.
"Gamble and Sara can stay, the rest of you, out." Oliver snapped as Waller nodded as she and the rest of her agents left.
"Why don't we leave these two alone to talk." Oliver said to Luke and Tatsu, who nodded, wanting to give the two Lance sisters some privacy for this and Oliver knew from hard experience to not get in the middle of it when Laurel and Sara fought. Though he did activate the metahuman dampener he'd had Luke install in the Barracks after Laurel's powers had surfaced to make sure that she didn't accidentally send her sister into a wall.
The actor who plays Jake Gamble is someone who is no stranger to playing a spy, Jeremy Renner, who played both Hawkeye in the MCU and Agent Brandt in the Mission Impossible franchise.
