"Hah— wait. What? The drums. You think that I play the drums in my civilian life?" It took everything within Chat Noir not to burst out laughing the more he stared at his Lady's face, her endearingly childish pout becoming more and more prominent by the second (and by the stars, the moon and the universe did he want to kiss her cute little mouth).
"Y-You told me to guess!" She huffed, now folding her arms and turning away from him almost brattily with a scoff, causing her partner to ultimately give in and laugh to his heart's content. The heroine was absolutely tempted to just wrap him up with her yoyo and leave him hanging upside down somewhere— but then she would have to deal with Tikki chewing her out later.
"I know, I know! But the drums?" He was now starting to struggle to breathe from all the laughing and when Ladybug turned back around with an even bigger pout and one twitching eye, he lost it and collapsed to the rooftop with joyful tears streaming down his face and hands clutching his stomach.
'OooOooOH! You stupid cat!'
Fed up with everything, the girl was ready to launch herself off the rooftop and make her way home only for her partner to wheeze out a "Wait!" and wrap his arms around one of her ankles desperately. She glanced at him one more time, giving him a look that meant he should choose his words wisely if he didn't want her to leave.
"S-Sorry. I was just caught off guard..." He husked, batting his long lashes at her with hopes that she'd forgive him. Luckily for him, she found him cute (but not THAT cute) so she sat down slowly. She didn't even blink when his head found its way on her lap, his feline greens continuing to peer up at her and once again, if she never found him cute she would have pushed him off the second she noted the dancing laughter within his eyes.
"So what do you play then, if not the drums." She flicked his nose as a little punishment, smirking when an offended "Miaou!" left his lips.
"Piano. I play the piano." He grumbled, rubbing his nose with the back of his hand. He paused with his movements when he noted the befuddled look on the love of his life, her mouth slightly ajar and her eyes squinting with scrutiny. "What?"
"Are you messing with me?"
"Huh!? No? Why would I be messing with you?" He immediately sat up and countered her challenging glare with one of his own. "What kind of person do YOU think I am? Considering that you thought that I played the drums and all that."
"Loud? Monsieur. 'I love the sound of my voice so I'll make it everyone else's problem'? A show-off?" Then she leaned in closer, one brow raised attractively under her polka-dotted mask. "A flirt?"
.
Never had Ladybug seen her partner look so offended and this time, she was holding back the laughter within.
"Okay, I understand the first two. But a flirt? MOI?" This time, he leaned in and she could taste the hot breath that hit the surface of her too sensitive lips. "You know that my heart is only for you and you only, Ladybug." The way he flickered his eyes from her own and to her mouth was the nail in the coffin and she felt her cheeks instantly burn. She pulled back a little and averted her gaze, knowing that the sharp exhale that hit her cheek was her Chaton letting out a disappointed sigh.
"F-F-Fine. But piano? I never would have guessed..." She tried to picture him playing the instrument and almost struggled to do so until her eyes landed on one of his hands in her peripheral vision. Right there and then she realised how every time he held her or touched her, his warmth was often gentle and fleeting like the graze of a feather flying by. Naturally, her eyes then landed on him and she wasn't surprised to see that he was watching her back patiently.
That's right.
Her Chaton was a really patient person when he wanted to be.
It takes a lot of tolerance and hard work to master an instrument like the piano. And knowing her partner? He wouldn't have made much of a fuss about playing one if all he knew was 'twinkle twinkle little star' (hopefully).
"Looks like I'll need to play for you one of these days, my Lady." Chat Noir murmured, his voice barely above a whisper and he reached for her hair with one hand. She felt a slight tug and then saw that he pulled back a leaf that must have landed on her a little while ago. Ladybug felt her face light up in flames once more and her beating heart was determined to break out of her ribcage. "Tell me your favourite song. I'll learn how to play it and perform just for you whenever you want."
His nose was brushing hers now and time was non-existent.
"I-It's always ch-changing b-b-but...erm..." She coughed into a fist, turning her head away once more but the comforting feel of his hands on her knees kept her in place. He was so close and it was making her feel so Marinette and she just couldn't understand why. "I've been listening to that song from Howl's Moving Castle on a loop for a while lately. I think…I think it's called m... merry-go-round."
She felt her heart stutter when his pupils dilated to the point where she could only see a faint ring of yellow-green around them. It was as if he was washed with a whole new realisation or as if something clicked within his mind and just like that, his eyes twinkled and glittered and shimmered and the grin he wore was breathtakingly beautiful.
She's never seen him so, so happy.
Ever.
"Merry-go-round, huh," A bloom of pretty, pretty pink lit up ever so slightly under his mask and when he gently knocked his forehead against hers (a mannerism so like his namesake as well as a very dear boy in her civilian life), she could have sworn that her blood was roaring within her veins. "I've just learnt how to play it not too long ago. I think you'll enjoy it a lot once you hear me play." His eyes then shamelessly peered down at her lips once more before flickering back to her blues.
"Mmhmm..." She could only hum in agreement, unable to utter a single syllable no matter how hard she tried.
.
The way he looked at her now, it was as if it went beyond love and affection.

A/N: I have nothing witty to say at the moment errr…comment or else you'll have dreams of Marinette trying to play the flute and she's really bad at it? LOL!
