A few of the kids were bouncing in their seats, excited to finally watch the first episode after seeing the trailers.
"Legends stories scattered through time."
A not even a minute in and the screen paused as Ruby asked curiously about the person narrating.
Raider didn't answer her question, but she knew who the person was. They'll find that information out later.
"Mankind has grown quite fond of forecounting the exploits of heroes and villains. Forgetting so easily that we are remnants, byproducts of a forgotten past. Man, born from dust was strong, wise, and resourceful. But he was born into an unforgiving world, an inevitable darkness, creatures of destruction; the creatures of Grimm.
Set their sights on man and all of his creations. These forces clashed and it seemed the darkness was intent on returning man's brief existence to the void. However, even the smallest spark of hope, is enough to ignite change. And in time, man's passion, resourcefulness, and ingenuity led them to the tools that would help even the odds. This power was appropriately named, Dust.
Nature's wrath in hand, man lit their way through the darkness. And in the shadows, absence came strength, civilization, and most importantly, life.
But, even the most brilliant lights flicker and die."
"Well isn't this person just a ray of sunshine," Yang mumbles sarcastically.
The scene shows present time, down in the streets of Vale, the shattered moon overhead. The screen lowers to see Roman Torchwick making his way down the road, Junior's lackeys behind him.
"Oh, I know what this is going to show!" Ruby shouts as she begins to bounce in her seat a bit. It wasn't until Weiss, kindly, asked her to stop that she ceased her movement.
"And when they are gone, darkness will return. So you may prepare your guardians, build your monuments to a so-called 'free world', but take heed, there will be no victory in strength."
Citizens, gasp and move out of the way, letting the man pass. Roman makes his way to a small dust shop, called 'From Dust till Dawn'. As Roman bursts open the door, another voice can be heard.
"But perhaps, victory is in the simpler things you long forgotten. Things that require a smaller, more honest soul."
The screen lowers from above to show Ruby in the back of the store, reading a magazine.
"That voice sounded like Professor Ozpin!" Pointed out Nora, now hearing it, the voice sounded awfully like Ozpin's.
The men walk up to the front counter, one looking at the dust pipes while the other runs their gloved hand over the glass. Showing all the dust crystals in the case. It was then Roam stepped in between, and tapped the ashes on the glass.
"Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a dust shop, open this late?" The man on Roman's left pulls out a gun and points it at the poor old man.
"Please, just take my lien and leave." The man answers, putting his hands in the air and surrendering to the criminals.
"Sh, sh, sh, sh, calm down. We're not here for your money. Grab the dust."
The kids feel sorry for the poor man.
But thankfully I'm going to save the day. Somewhat. Ruby thinks cheerfully.
The men bring out a large briefcase and take out dust containers. Bringing them to the pipes, and gaining the dust till the tubes are full.
"Crystals, burn, uncut."
"That poor man," Pyrrha quietly says.
The shopkeeper proceeds to do as asked, taking the crystals from the glass. On the other side of the store, another man goes to a dust pipe, only to hear loud music from the back of the store.
"You were in the back, just reading and listening to music?" Weiss' question came more out like a statement of utter disbelief. Ruby herself laughed a bit awkwardly.
The man sees Ruby listening to music with her back turned. He pulls out a red katana and points at Ruby with it. "Alright kid, put your hands where I can see em'."
She completely ignores him, agitating him. "Hey, I said hands in the air. You got a death wish or somethin'?"
He grabs her shoulder and trunks her around, revealing her headphones. It was then Ruby noticed him for the first time. He angrily points to what's on her ears.
Ruby takes them off, "Yes?"
"I said 'put your hands in the air' now!" Ruby just squints her eyes at the man. "Are you robbing me?"
"Let me tell you, that is one of the calmest interactions I've ever seen in a robbery," Jaune says, looking at his friend. Ruby rubs her head with a nervous chuckle. Yang shook her head with a smile as well as the rest of her friends
"Yes!" The man screams in frustration, Ruby gives him a look. "Aahh," she held a certain smile to her face.
They took note of Ruby's tone of voice, knowing what was about to happen next.
Roman was simply waiting at the front counter. "Hey-!" A whack was heard, then the man crashed through a window. Roman gestured towards the back and the same guy pulled a gun out on Ruby.
Scene showing the front of the shop, before the man is kicked out, Ruby following him. The others just stare outside.
All around the room came laughter.
The camera shows Ruby, with her weapon transforming into her scythe.
She looks up at them, swings her scythe into the road, causing a dent and turns off her music.
Roman did nothing but stare before speaking, "Okay, get her." Gesturing towards the girl.
The first men attack, to which she hops on her scythe, kicking one in the face with both feet. Slicing the others, but not killing. She smashes one to the grand leaves, the last lying in front of Roman.
He just looks down disappointed, "You were worth every cent, truly you were." Roman focuses on Ruby, "Well, Red, I think we can all say it's been an eventful evening. And as much as I'd love to stick around, I'm afraid this is where we part ways." Pointing his cane at Ruby, he fires.
Ruby jumps out of the way to avoid the blast, only to see him gone. That is, until she sees him climbing up an escape ladder.
"Dang, he's fast, got to hand it to him for his escape." This comment got a few looks thrown in Nora's direction.
Ruby turned and asked the shopkeeper, "You okay if I go after him?" He gave his permission, and she quickly ran.
"Why would you ask if you could go after him?" Jaune asks. He didn't get a response from Ruby as she was too engrossed in the episode.
Roman hops over the last bit of the ladder, Ruby right on his tail.
"Hey!"
"That was all you said? You could've had an awesome one liner!" Nora yelled. "It's not like she could come up with something in three seconds," Weiss yelled. Seeming like she was defending her.
"Persistent,"Roman mutters under his breath. An airship makes itself known as it floats high above the air in front of the two. A light flashes in the girl's eyes as Roman boards the ship. "End of the line Red!" He holds up a fire crystal and proceeds to throw it at her feet.
He fires, but landing in front of Ruby was a woman with a purple cape. A large explosion goes off with red dust in the breeze.
Roman gives off an evil laugh, thinking the girl's dead.
"Roman sure is… something else," Ruby says with a weirded out look.
Roman glares as he sees that Glynda has put up a protection field. Ruby looks amazed and Glynda pushes up her glasses, befores sending multiple attacks on the ship.
Roman starts losing his balance inside, he runs up to the cockpit and tells the pilot "We've got a huntress." Cinder runs to the back, Roman taking her place with the controls.
The ship tries to make its escape, but Glynda stops it, making a large gray cloud above. Roman looks above confused, Glynda lowers her arm, causing shards to rain down upon the ship. Glynda glares at Cinder when she makes herself known. Sending a blast of fire, which Glynda deflects.
Cinder sets up a platform of fire underneath Glynda. She avoids the attack as it comes out as a geyser of fire. Debris of the roof flew everywhere. She uses the debris to create a large shard with her levitation. Aiming at the ship, she sends it. Cinder destroys part but Glynda connects them together again.
She uses her power to where the shards surround the ship, but Cinder uses a large amount of power to send a heatwave of flames, effectively destroying the attack.
The two watch as the ship goes to make its escape, Ruby looking at the ship then Glynda. She pulls out her weapon and starts to open fire.
Glynda turns and glares at the girl.
Ruby scoffs, "Well, I couldn't just stand and do nothing! They were getting away!"
Cinder blocks every shot. Then, creating a semi-circle of the same attack from before, Glynda saves them both. The hatch closes and the ship makes its successful escape.
Glynda frowns, turning to Ruby, as well as watching the ship fly away. That was when Ruby turned to the woman, "You're a huntress, can I have your autograph?" Showing childlike excitement.
Yang lovingly shook her head.
Ruby is shown, having a face of regret. Sitting in a chair while behind her, Glynda began to scold her.
Some laughed at such a change in the scene.
"I hope you realize your actions tonight will not be taken lightly, young lady. You put yourself and others in great danger."
Ruby yelled in her defense, "They started it!"
Nora nodded her head with a hand to her chin, "Mhm, mhm, you make a very strong argument."
"If it were up to me, you'd be sent home with a pat on the back," Ruby's spirits lifted. "And a slap on the wrist," she finishes, proving her point by slapping the table. Startling Ruby.
"But, there is someone here who would like to meet you." She steps aside, allowing Ozpin to take the floor as he walks out of the doorway with a plate full of cookies and a coffee mug.
"Ruby Rose, you have silver eyes."He says, moving closer to observe her. Ruby looks confused, not knowing what to say.
"So where did you learn to do this?" He says, referring to the screen that showed her fight against the lackeys.
"Signal Academy," Ruby meekly responded.
"They taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?"
"Well, one teacher in particular."
"Uncle Qrow!" Ruby shouts with a lot more enthusiasm then one would expect.\
"I see," he says, placing a plate of cookies down in front of Ruby.
Ruby grabs one and slowly eats it, before continuously shoving the rest in her mouth.
Yang and the rest of Rby's team sigh as they watch their leader indulge herself.
"It's just that I've only seen one other scythe wielder of that skill before, dusty old crow."
"Oh, fats ma uncole," Ruby says, her mouth filled to the brim with cookies. Ozpin just looks at her unimpressed. She clears her throat before trying again. "Sorry, that my uncle Qrow, he's a teacher at Signal, I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing."
Weiss sighed, "Ruby, you could at least have finished eating before you addressed Professor Ozpin."
Weiss was right, she could have, but that wasn't what she did. It's in the past, can't change it.
"And now, I'm all like *Proceeds to make ninja noise, and motions*." Ozpin sets his mug on the table, "So I've noticed. And what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?"
"Well, I want to be a huntress," Plain and simple. "You want to slay monsters?"
"Yeah, I only have two more years of training left at Signal, and then I'm going to apply to Beacon. You see, my sister is starting there this year and she's trying to become a huntress, and I'm trying to become a huntress because I want to help people. And my parents always taught us to help others, so I thought 'Hm might as well make a career out of it'. I mean, the police are alright, but huntsmen and huntresses are just so much more romantic and exciting and cool and just jfhg! Y'know?" The screen zones more on Ruby the more she talks. Then switches to Glynda looking dissatisfied.
"Ruby…" Yang's voice wasn't one of upset, but rather one of endearment. Yang really did love her sister.
"Do you know who I am?"
"Professor Ozpin, headmaster of Beacon Academy." Everyone was in unison as they spoke.
"You're Professor Ozpin, you're the Headmaster at Beacon." Ozpin just smiles,"Hello."
"Nice to meet you."
"You want to come to my school?"
Weiss was a little disappointed. She was hoping for something more when it came to the conversation of how Ruby got enrolled into Beacon. But, Professor Ozpin was always the more mysterious type of person.
"More than anything."
Ozpin looks at Glynda but she just rolls her eyes in disapproval.
"Well okay."
"So that's the story of you getting in. Old me would have thought you snuck your way into Beacon," Nora said, having her hands on her hips. Jaune just sweated nervously, Pyrrha looking over at him and gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.
Ren took note of this, wondering what that was about.
The screen changes to showing Ruby's facing lighting up, but looks to pain the next. Getting crushed by her sister in a hug. "Oh, I can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me, this is the best day ever!"
"Please stop," Ruby asks, her voice sounding a little forced. Yang let's go, and excitedly bounces on her toes, "But I'm so proud of you!"
"Really, sis, it was nothing."
"Nothing!? What you did was incredible!" Nora yells through the room. "You can't put yourself down for every accomplishment Ruby," Ren says, following Nora, but trying to help her keep her voice down.
"What do you mean? It was incredible! Everyone at Beacon is gonna think you're the bee's knees!"
"I don't want to be the bees knees, I don't want to be any kind of knees. I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees."
"What's with you? Aren't you excited?" Ruby scoffs at the question, "Of course I'm excited, I just… I got moved ahead two years, I don't want people to think I'm special or anything."
Yang brings Ruby in for a side hug, "Of course you're special." The voice of a man broke the moment between the two.
No one saw it, but Yang's eye gave a small twitch. Her and her sister were having a nice moment damnit!
"The robbery was led by nefarious criminal, Roman Torchwick. Who continues to evade authorities, if you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact the Vale Police Department. Back to you Lisa." The screen changes to show a woman with white hair and green eyes. "Thank you Cyril, in other news, this Saturday's Faunus Civil Rights Protest turned dark. When members of the White Fang disrupted the ceremony. The once peaceful organization has now disrupted-"
The feed was cut, in its place showing Glynda.
"Why do I feel like that would have given us important information if it wasn't cut," Yang said.
"Hello, and welcome to Beacon."
"Who's that?" Yang asks, eyeing her sister.
"My name is Glynda Goodwitch."
"Oh."
Laughs came from all around the room.
"You are among the privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy. Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace."
Easy for you humans to say… Blake thought.
"And as future huntsmen and huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task. And now, it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world." The hologram faded, as Ruby looked amazed, taking a view out the window.
"Look, you can see Signal from up here." The camera rapidly backs up to show the school. Then switching back to the point with Yang and Ruby. "I guess home isn't too far after all."
Yang places a hand on Ruby's left shoulder. "Beacon's our home now."
The sound of gagging is heard. Showing Jaune looking as he's about to hurl. Walking across the ship, trying to hold it in.
"Well, I guess the view isn't for everyone."
"It was a nice moment while it lasted."
The view changes to showing the outside of all ships, showing Beacon on a cliff in the distance. "I wonder who we're gonna meet." Ruby responds in an uninterested tone, "I just hope they're better than vomit-boy. Oh, Yang, gross! You have puke on your shoe!"
Yang repeatedly yells out gross while Ruby tells her to get it away from her.
The screen fades to black as it shows the intro to the volume.
Ruby kneeling in front of her mother's tombstone. Her cloak fading into petals. A figure stands in front of her, her cloak dispersing white petals before the figure fades as well as the shattered moon.
Ruby speeds off, in comes a white screen showing the words 'RWBY'.
Going to Weiss she stood in a spotlight, the camera roaming around her. Then, to Blake, she stands on the branch of a tree in the red forest, before disappearing. Yang is shown on a sidewalk looking at her scrolls with a look of determination, speeding off with her motorcycle the next second.
A large amount of grimm is seen, running towards the camera. A nevermore gives way to a transition, showing Roman and men behind him. A wall of fire burns up the screen, Cinder and two others behind her in dark silhouettes. The screen enhances her one yellow eye.
Going to a large black portal overhead of Team Rwby, facing off shadows with red eyes. Camera spinning to show each and every one of them. The portal blasts, coming down in the middle of them, forcing them to retreat backwards.
The four attack towards the portal and it switches to show Jaune standing in front of a statue solemnly, that shows two individuals standing on a rock. One in a cloak and the other proudly holding out a sword, a beowulf at the bottom.
Showing his face, a hand lands on his left shoulder, presenting Pyrrha and the rest of his team.
Changing again, Ozpin and Glynda look at the horizon side by side on the front of a ship that the camera shows a full body of after zooming out.
The screen goes to show Ruby, behind her is her rose symbol, Weiss and her snowflake symbol, Blake and her fire symbol, and finally Yang with her fireheart symbol.
Finally, showing Ozpin and Glynda, the camera zooms out. Passing by all the characters, ending on Ruby who turns into a shadow silhouette before posing her scythe behind her. The title 'RWBY' is shown next to her head, the screen fading into darkness.
"Oooh, was that whole sequence the intro?!" Ruby asked, turning around, showing Raider that she had stars in her eyes.
A small nod from the girl was all Ruby needed. She was about to bounce in the air, but was stopped by Weiss who gave her a look, making Ruby stop.
"So, that was the first episode, what did you think?" Raider asks the group.
Positive feedback was spreading throughout the room until one comment from Blake. "The animation looks a bit…"
"Crusty?" Raider finished.
"I wasn't going to use that particular word, but, yes." Raider informs Blake that this was made a while ago. It seemed like a logical enough answer, so Blake took it.
