Where Should Kenneth Rest?
Kenneth is very tired; he has been up late last night with a big mail delivery. The Tall Controller wants Kenneth to rest before his next job, but Kenneth doesn't know where he should have his rest.
First, Kenneth sees a siding near the Meadow, but there are insects flying all over the place. Is this the right place for Kenneth to rest? …No.
Next, Kenneth puffs into a forest; he can hear lots of forest animals everywhere. Is this a good place for Kenneth to rest? …No.
Soon, Kenneth steams past Farmer Briar's Farm. There are lots of animals around, but they are being very noisy. Is this where Kenneth can rest? …No.
Now, Kenneth has rolled into the Yard near Whitehaven Sheds. The Sheds are empty and there are no workmen, animals or other engines around. Can Kenneth have his rest here?
…Yes, the Sheds are the perfect place for Kenneth to rest. With no one around, it's very quiet and Kenneth's Driver can shut the doors so no one will bother him.
Well done, Kenneth, have a good rest.
Laurence's Troublesome Trip
Tonight, Laurance has to deliver some new equipment to Carlisle Quarry…but what's this? …Laurence's lamp has gone out. It will be dangerous to deliver the equipment in the dark.
Then, Laurence sees Tracy nearby. Laurence knows what to do. He asks Tracy to help him with his delivery. Tracy is happy to help.
Laurence and Tracy have made it to the Quarry, but they don't know that a set of points are faulty…Oh dear! Laurence's trucks are rolling away on another track.
Tracy knows what to do. She tells Laurence to stay where he is, so he can catch the trucks if they roll back to him and Tracy puffs quickly to the next junction so she can catch the trucks if they come her way.
Tracy has stopped the trucks. Now, Tracy and Laurence can finish their delivery. The workmen are very pleased.
Tracy and Laurence are on their way home…but there is a problem. The sign at the junction has fallen off its post.
Laurence and Tracy don't know which way to go, but they know what to do. They blow their whistles to let everyone know where they are.
What's that? …It's a horn…Now, Tracy can see a light…
It's Slater! He heard his friends whistling and has come to help them.
Slater knows what to do. He's going back the way he came with Laurence and Tracy following closely behind.
Laurence, Tracy and Slater all knew what to do to solve their problems and now, Laurence and Tracy are safe.
Well done, all of you!
Chasing the Dragon
Today, Marcus is to take the Chinese Dragon to the Funfair…but when he arrives in the Yard, it isn't there.
"Noel has taken the Chinese Dragon by mistake," says the Yard Master. Marcus will have to chase after Noel, and he races out of the Yard.
Marcus has come to a junction, but doesn't know which way to go.
Suddenly, Marcus hears Noel's whistle…It's coming from the left track, so that is the way Marcus should go.
Now, Marcus is at another junction. Let's listen for Noel's whistle again…It's coming from the right track, but this time, it keeps getting louder.
Marcus knows that Noel must be coming back, so he blows his whistle to warn Noel he is there.
Noel slowly approaches with the Chinese Dragon and Marcus explains everything. "I'm sorry, Marcus," says Noel, "I didn't mean take the dragon with me."
Now, Marcus can deliver the Chinese Dragon to the Funfair on time. Well done, Marcus!
Nathan Helps a Seagull
Today, Nathan has an important load of pipes to take to the Port in Barrow…but Nathan is slowing down…There's a seagull on the line.
Nathan doesn't want to hurt the seagull. "Would you mind moving, please?" he asks.
The seagull moves…but it has landed on Nathan's bonnet.
Nathan doesn't want to be rude, so he decides to bring the seagull with him to the Port.
Nathan rolls slowly and carefully so the seagull won't blow away…but what's this? Nathan doesn't see the low-hanging branch ahead.
The seagull jumps onto the branch before being hit and calls to Nathan. Nathan reverses carefully to the tree and the seagull jumps down. "Sorry," sighs Nathan.
Now, Nathan has arrived at the Port…and the seagull flies away.
Nathan is sad to see his new friend go…but what' this? The seagull is coming back with some of its friends.
Nathan is happy to have made a new friend. "I think I'll call you…Wilson," he says, and the seagull happily calls back.
Well done, Nathan!
