A/N: Firstly, a quick note to apologize for missing that week's chapter. I thought I uploaded it, but then I found out I didn't so I decided to just do a double-upload today. Again, really sorry and hope you all will still enjoy the story.

Anyways, here's the chapter. Enjoy~!

"Fullbringer? That's what you are called?" Jin asked his friend as they ate their lunch, Kūgo nodding as he took a bite from his bento before speaking.

"Yep!"

"And you're like…descended from the Soul King, who is supposed to be like this omnipotent being?"

"Well, yeah and no. The Soul King is like an omnipotent being that is also like…God, but Fullbringers are not descended from him. We just have fragments of him inside our souls along with a bit of Hollow Reiryoku from our mothers that were attacked by a Hollow."

"I…see. It's similar yet different to what we are." Jin muttered and Kūgo blinked as he saw his friend looking deep in thought.

"Wait, you and your dad aren't Fullbringers?"

"No, we are called Bounts and we're kind of like vampires that feed on soul energy and use objects called Dolls to fight."

"Whoa, wait a minute. Back up a bit. You said vampires. As in…like the man-eating kind?" Kūgo asked with a nervous look, which Jin noticed as he snickered and shook his head.

"No, not like that. We can eat normal food, but soul energy just tastes…better, to put it simple. Also, the concept of vampires was only made after a Bount was found killing a human. We can survive off of Hollow energy too, but it just tastes a lot less…appealing."

"So, you guys are not making me stronger just to take my energy after I'm strong enough?"

"Nope. Besides, your energy would probably taste just as shit as you are, so you have no need to worry."

"Okay, one thing you're not about to do is diss the flavour of my soul. I would taste divine and that's a fact."

"Sure, you would. Anyway, wanna come to my house later today? Father wants to start my combat training so I wanted to know if you wanted to train with."

"Is that even a question? Hell yeah!" Kūgo exclaimed before giving a sheepish grin at the glares his classmates aimed at him, quietly glaring at his friend who snickered as he ate his meal.

"You knew that would happen, didn't you?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Oh, I'm going to kick the shit out of you later, buddy."

"In your dreams."

"Kūgo. I didn't expect for you to visit us." Kazyua spoke with a smile as he continued to do his push-ups, Kūgo looking in awe at how muscular Kazuya was while doing push-ups with his feet parallel to the ground while Jin nodded at Koga training in the background before turning back to his father.

"I told him that we would be starting my combat training today."

"And you wish to take part, I assume?" Kazuya asked as he slowly moved to a one-handed handstand, doing more push-ups like that as Kūgo snapped out of his awe and nodded.

"Uh, yeah."

"Did you read the book I gave you?"

"I did." Kūgo nodded and Kazuya looked him in the eyes before humming as he pushed off the ground into a front flip, landing on a knee before standing up while rolling his shoulders.

"Very well, I believe you. Now, I assume you have read about the basic ability that all Fullbringers must learn?"

"Fullbring. It would let me move around the souls of any non-living thing around me, right?"

"Ah, so you did read the book. As for your question, you are right. Fullbring is what allows the Fullbringer humans to manipulate the soul of any inanimate objects in your surroundings. This could lead to a human doing things such as running through air, walking across water or manipulate the elements as they wish."

"Awesome~ Wait, does that mean Jesus was a Fullbring?!" Kūgo exclaimed, Jin giggling as Kazuya smirked and shrugged.

"We tend to not worry about any mythical figures in history since there are many tales that make him out to seem like a Fullbringer, but then there are parts of his story that make him out to be something far more powerful."

"Oh, okay. So, what are we doing today?" He asked and Kazuya smirked as he turned to Koga in the background.

"Koga, would you mind helping Jin with his basic combat training while I start with Kūgo? We'll switch every two hours to keep them on their toes."

"As you wish, my lord." Koga nodded and Jin hummed as he walked over to Koga, Kūgo and him sharing a determined look before the young boy turned to Kazuya as the man cleared his throat.

"Now then, let's get you started on learning your Fullbring."

"No, you are not getting it." Kazuya spoke with a frown as he watched Kūgo standing with his hands stretched out, to which the young boy groaned as he dropped his hands whilst glaring at the small rock in front of him.

"What am I doing wrong here?"

"Like I said, you're focusing too much on just trying to pick it up when it's supposed to be a combination of steps. Grab the reishi in the rock, force your control over it and then pick it up. Just like the book said you should."

"Urgh! Okay, all right. One more time." Kūgo muttered as he took a deep breath, raising a hand to the rock before frowning in concentration as he slowly felt out for the reishi around him.

He could feel the powerful Reiryoku from the three other people in the room, but no matter how much he tried, he couldn't feel out the reishi in the atmosphere let alone the reishi inside the small rock.

'Wait a second. Maybe…' Kūgo trailed off as he knelt on the floor, Kazuya frowning a bit in confusion before his eyes widened as he watched him place his hand on the floor and felt the pulses of his Reiryoku shooting out from his hand & across the training field.

'Hmm, not a bad idea for a beginner.' The man thought with a smirk as Kūgo continued to let out soft energy pulses before the boy smirked as he finally stood up.

The next moment, his smirk turned to a grin as he watched the rock begin to float shakily in the air, waiting a few seconds as Kūgo continued to keep the rock afloat before breaking his concentration with a clap.

"Well done, Kūgo! Well done indeed." Kūgo grinned as he finally let the rock fall, taking a few deep breaths while wiping the sweat from his forehead.

"T-Thanks. I guess I just had to make my own way of learning, huh?"

"Indeed, sometimes our best teachers are ourselves and you figured that out pretty quickly. Now, it's time for you to learn how to use it under stress." Kazuya spoke with a smile and Kūgo grew a bit nervous as he watched Stahlvogel next to the man with a sly grin.

"S-Shouldn't I first learn how to do it without concentrating so much?"

"Eh, I've learned that stressful environments help one a lot in figuring out your abilities. Now, be prepared."

"Good work, you two. While I would have loved for you to continue training throughout the entire session, an hour is quite the achievement for two that have not trained once in their lives." Kazuya spoke with a smirk, amused at the grumbles from the two boys lying on the floor while Koga simply smirked.

"How did Jin do?"

"Fairly good. However, I would like it if he stopped being hesitant on attacking when seeing an opening."

"Hmm, that is the exact opposite of Kūgo. The boy kept on trying to hit me even when I told him it was a simple training session for him to figure out Fullbring."

"Well, I thought if I beat your ass, I wouldn't need to do that." Kūgo grumbled as he sat upright, blushing a bit as Koga stifled his chuckles while Jin snickered and Kazuya looked amused at his answer.

"You're a few decades too young to be trying to beat me, Kūgo. Even my Father was not able to beat me after I hit my prime and I'm certain it will be the exact same for Jin when he reaches his prime."

"Wait, really?" Jin asked in surprise, Kūgo looking just as surprised as Kazuya smirked and nodded.

"There is a reason you are seen as the one with the most latent potential in our family's history."

"Ooh~ Wait, would you get even stronger if you ate some spiritual energy from someone else?" Kūgo asked, surprising both Koga and Kazuya as Jin looked to be in thought.

"I do feel a bit stronger when I did absorb someone's energy the first time, but it was only for a little while."

"W-Wait, Jin told you what we are?"

"I did. Sh-Should I not have?" Jin asked with a nervous look, to which Kazuya frowned before looking at the curious Kūgo.

"And you're okay with still being around us?"

"Eh, I don't really care to be honest, Mr. Kazu. Besides, I know how to make myself into a bomb now so if you try to eat me, I'll just blow us all up."

"…Perhaps I should have checked him for suicidal tendencies before I started training him." Kazuya muttered out loud, smirking as Jin laughed while Kūgo just pouted and huffed.

"Fine~! Mr. Koga is now my favourite adult out of you two."

"I thank you for the honour, young Kūgo." Koga played along, smirking as his lord simply rolled his eyes while Kūgo & Jin snickered.

"Any way, it appears you two are now finally rested so why don't we add in another training session while Koga goes and makes us lunch?"

"Ramen again?" Koga asked, shaking his head as all three nodded enthusiastically before the boys finally processed Kazuya's words and looked at him to see the man and Stahlvogel having matching sinister grins on their faces.

"Uh, would it help if I say sorry?"

"Nope. Now start running!" On command, a barrage of azure threads shot out from Stahlvogel's wings and towards the two boys, Kūgo blinking as he found himself floating above the threads with a tornado keeping him afloat.

"Kūgo! I need you to keep Father distracted!" Jin ordered while snapping his fingers, Kūgo watching in awe at the barrage of wind bullets flying through the air towards Kazuya only for Stahlvogel to unfurl a metal wing and block the attack with ease.

Snapping out of his shock, the young Fullbringer nodded before raising a hand to the ground, Kazuya smirking as he felt the pulse of Reiryoku washing over him before his smirk widened as the air around him began to pop.

Instantly, he was surrounded by a cocoon of threads just as he felt the air exploded, smirking as the threads around him quickly unravelled before shooting through the air towards the two boys.

Kūgo's eyes widened as he felt Jin letting him drop to the floor, quickly flipping around to try and roll only to grin as wind surrounded him before sending him rocketing towards Kazuya.

The man smirked as he flicked a finger towards Kūgo, Stahlvogel moving in sync as some of the threads curved around to try and catch Kūgo from behind only for his eyes to widen as Kūgo pushed against the ground while using a blast of wind to send him flying over the older Bount's head.

"Heads up!" Kūgo exclaimed while looking behind him, Kazuya quickly spinning around while creating a thread shield around him just as two heavy blasts of wind slammed into him from both sides.

Both Kūgo and Jin gritted their teeth as they continued their air stream, not noticing how the two air currents were slowly swirling around before their eyes widened at the sight of the two blasts curving around the shield and crashing into them.

"Not bad, boys. Not bad at all." Kazuya spoke with a smirk as Stahlvogel pulled his threads back into his body, both Jin and Kūgo grumbling as they slowly stood up while still feeling the impact from the other's respective attack.

"Now then, it appears I have been underestimating you." Kazuya's words knocked the boys from their pain before their eyes widened as Kazuya leapt onto Stahlvogel's back, the flamingo spreading his wings wide with a cry before they began flying up into the air.

"Got a plan?" Kūgo asked as they slowly walked to each other while keeping an eye on Kazuya, Jin frowning as dozens of threads slowly grew out from Stahlvogel before nodding as wind began to gather around his body.

"Survive?"

"I like that plan."

"Hollow to your right!" A young adult with spiky silver hair shouted as he leapt into the air, Jin smirking as a black-haired man the same age as him rushed past below him and slammed a glowing fist into the beast's face.

The next moment, a small tornado of razor-sharp winds sliced the Hollow to ribbons while Jin fell back to the floor and sent out a blast of wind to block the Hollow charging at Kūgo.

Quickly rolling away as the Hollow swung another claw at him, Jin sent it skidding back with another blast of wind before Kūgo appeared below it and sent it airborne with an uppercut.

"Windestanz." Jin chanted while snapping his fingers, four small tornadoes slamming into the floating Hollow before it was swiftly destroyed as the four merged into one powerful hurricane.

"That's fourteen to your twelve." Jin spoke with a smirk as he turned to Kūgo, the man simply rolling his eyes while crossing his arms.

"Who cares? I barely needed Cross to fight against these. Get us a few Gillians and we both know I'll beat the shit out of them."

"Yeah, yeah. Sounds like nothing more than a loser complaining." Jin spoke with a smirk, Kūgo simply rolling his eyes before frowning as he saw the Shinigami watching them like usual.

"That's the fifth time this week. You'd think that with what we've shown so far, they'd know to back off." Jin spoke with a frown as he saw what Kūgo was looking at, the man simply sighing as he watched the Shinigami leaping away before shaking his head.

"It's none of our concern since they don't care about us enough to try and kill us."

"Yet, at least. Have you…have you visited them yet?" Jin asked and Kūgo frowned slightly as he reached down and softly rubbed the Saltire necklace around his neck that belonged to his mother.

"I was there Saturday but only for a few minutes." He spoke and Jin sighed as he remembered the sight that greeted them a month ago while he and Kūgo had a training session with his Father and Koga.

Apparently, Hollows had been lurking around Kūgo's house and he had been meticulous in taking out the few that stayed whenever he was around, but for some reason, they had decided to band together and hide until he left the home.

There, they had attacked his mother and father, their torn apart corpses still vivid in his mind as well as the bloody marks around the entire house from where the Hollows had played around with their corpses.

That was also the first time he had seen Kūgo truly enraged as his best friend had been on a rampage until a week ago, dismembering and torturing every Hollow before devouring them to make sure they would never reach the afterlife.

"Well, at least I can be sure you won't destroy Naruki for every Hollow hiding inside it."

"I was right to kill them all and you know it."

"Yes, you were. Now come, Father wished to speak with us." Jin spoke and Kūgo nodded, a light green glow covering the Fullbringer while the Bount was coated in swirling winds before the two of them leapt into the air and rocketed in the direction of the Kariya Estate.

"Father, we have returned." Jin spoke as he walked into his father's office, Kūgo closing the door behind him before the two of them walked forward to stand in front of the Kariya patriach's desk.

While he now had a few wrinkles and crow's feet at the corners of his eyes, Kazuya Kariya still looked good for his age as he sat behind his desk, smiling as he looked up to see his son & adopted son standing in front of it.

"I see. Did you manage to take out the Hollows near the city's edge?"

"Yep, along with the few that tried to sneak in."

"We did have a problem, though. The Shinigami has been spying on us again." Jin spoke and Kazuya shook his head with a sigh while leaning back on his chair.

"That's the fifth time this week, correct?"

"That is correct."

"Hmm, I fear they might be up to something." Kazuya spoke and Jin and Kūgo glanced at each other before the Fullbringer spoke.

"Perhaps, I can find out. From the looks of it, they seem to be looking more at me than Jin and they've only been spotted around me."

"That is…true. However, it is also risky. The fact that they're focused on you means that there is something that they want from you."

"Then, it will be something that they'll have to take from my cold dead hands."

"That is good and all, but please do not speak of your death so lightly. I would rather not lose a son just because he felt a bit prideful." Kazuya spoke with a frown, to which Jin smirked as Kūgo gave an apologetic smile.

"Right, sorry about that."

"You're forgiven. Now, I do see the merit in your plan, but as far as I can remember, they have not come anywhere near the estate."

"What if he gets an apartment in Karakura Town? It's far enough that the Shinigami wouldn't worry about being too scared to get close while still being close enough that we can race over if something happens." Jin proposed and Kazuya hummed as Kūgo grinned & nodded.

"Yeah, that could work. What do you think?" He asked while turning to their dad, who looked to be in thought before giving a silent celebration as Kazuya smiled and nodded.

"That will most definitely work. It is also some place new which you most definitely need." Kazuya spoke and Kūgo rolled his eyes as Jin smirked.

"Right, you sure you just don't want me out of your hair? It is looking a lot more gray than silver."

"Don't think you're too old to get whipped. I remember Stahlvogel telling me that he misses throwing you two around."

"That bird has it out for me and you know it." Kūgo grumbled, to which his brother and father simply chuckled before he was unable to hide his smile whilst shaking his head.

'A new beginning? This might not be so bad, after all.'

A/N: And we are finally hitting Karakura Town!

Next chapter might be the last one before we're back in the present! Like I said, world building takes a while, but I like doing it & this is also probably the last flashback.

Also, I know some may be mad about the big timeskip, but I was not about to do an entire arc about them growing up or about how much they've trained so eh.

Like always, you can go to my Pat-reon-.-com-/-KingCrimsonNova to read ahead on this as well as many other stories & even some that haven't been released out to this site yet. If you want to, you are free to, but if you don't want, all's good as I will still be uploading here. This is just me trying to get some extra cash.
