Rory woke up at 7 a.m by kisses on her jaw. She giggled and opened her eyes.
– « Oh look who is disturbing my beauty sleep.»
– « Oh and who is that?»
– « My lovely fiancé! I like how it sounds!»
– « And I love how it sounds! » Logan said with a huge smile on his name. « And I hope that you are not rethinking your decision about marriage.»
– « No, I am not, Logan, I am absolutely sure about what I want from this life. »
– « And I want to be able to call you my future Mrs Huntzberger. »
– « You are so sure that I am going to change my last name?» Rory said while she was looking how her ring was sparkling under sunlights.
– « Well I am sure that you would not like to be Mrs Gilmore, that so Emily Gilmore.» they laughed at this statement. « If you want you can use hyphenation Gilmore-Huntzberger or Huntzberger-Gilmore»
– « You imagine how my passport or driver's licence will look like? Will it even fit there? How many letters there will be 17-18? That's ridiculous!»
– «So you are thinking about changing it on a Huntzberger or to leave a Gilmore one?»
– « And to be my grandma's twin? Because of well I am going to be in same room with her more often than with your mother.»
– « Am I understanding you right? You are considering to take my last name?
– « Would you want me to?»
– « To be honest Ace, I always wanted to rechange my family's reputation with new chapter in Huntzberger family tree and it will be a honour for me if you will take my last name.»
– « Oh if so Mr Huntzberger, you can meet a new future Mrs Huntzberger» she said and kissed him.
– « You think that your mom will be okay with that?»
– « OH MY GOD! Logan we have to tell about our engagement to my mom! And dad, and grandparents and to your parents and grandpa, Logan they all are going to freak out in different ways! And they need to hear about it from us and not from our friends, we need to tell them to not to tell anybody at home before we will decide how to bring our news.»
– « Ace, ace breath in and breath out, breath in and out, I have already told to all of them to keep our news to themselves. And Ace you are going to have next off days in a month, are you sure that you can keep it from them for a whole month, I know that you would like to announce it to them tête-à-tête, but phone call is more realistic for us.»
– « Yeah, maybe you are right, but that means that I have to start it now and maybe continue on our way to airport, I don't want to spent all our time on that, but if I will not call them right from the morning, thay will whine about it for forever and Logan when you're going to speak to your family? Or you will not tell them because of you are not speaking to them right now? And Logan, Logan, they all will want to know about our wedding date and where it will be and when we will start preparations, OH MY GOD! And we have to have all the answers or either way they'll start adding their thoughts and decisions even on this. I can't stop rambling.» Rory finished very emotionally.
– « Ace, Ace, don't worry, we will figure everything out. Let's start from the beginning, I am not going to call my parents, they will get our news from Honor and if they'll want they will reach to me, if not we still have Thanksgiving meeting and yes you'll have to start calling your family from the morning. And about decisions what do you want us to do?»
– « Well about wedding date, I am working till January and next I want to have a few months to fully settle down without any stress. And wedding preparations will need at least a year, because of nobody will give us to have a little wedding, they will still insist on a big reception, but we can win our vows, for them to be in church only with close friends and family, so i don't maybe in spring 2009?» Rory said nervously.
– « Yes it's logically and Ace I am okey with long engagement and a year with a few months it's not that much, and yeah you are right about reception, only Emily Gilmore will include a good hundred people in her list, next we'll have 30-40 townspeople from Starts Hollow, our friends with their plus ones is another 40 at least, from Huntzbergers, I am not going to give to my parents permission to invite everyone whom they know, but we still need to invite my family members, you remember yeah that my father is one of the 4 siblings, count them with their spouses, with their kids and their spouses and are we going to have kids at our wedding or it's a kids free wedding? Neither way it's at least another 20-30, plus my coworkers, your coworker, some coworkers from HPG, yeah reception is going to be huge or we can elope.»
– «No, no eloping, I would like it and it would be easier, but I would never be able to look in my grandparents eyes and we will have kids at our wedding, at least our friends and family ones, like my sister, Lanes kids, Sookies kids and your cousins kids, youngest one for our wedding will be practically 2 years old, your cousin Rachel gave birth in March if I am not wrong.»
– « Yeah in March, so we will tell them that wedding is going to be in spring 2009 and that we'll tell them about the exact date later? And what about place or more to be right on which coast it's going to be?
– « Let's think about when exactly in January, after I'll move in and about place, maybe New York? Like it's be too much to ask to everyone to flight in California, I love Stars Hollow, but wedding in town square is mom's dream, not mine and I don't want to have one in Hartford.»
– « Okay, so let's have one in New York and let's tell them we will start thinking about wedding preparations from like March - April and will have first conversation about it at Easter maybe? »
– « Yeah it's an amazing idea to postpone everything till Easter holidays, how do you think will Honor like to help with wedding?»
– « Ace, you are kidding me? Nobody will stop my sister from that, I afraid even to think what a team her and your grandma will create, plus add there your mom.»
– « Yeah, mom...»
– « You don't want to call her first?»
– « Is that a bad thing?»
– « No, no it's not, but she will be upset, really upset.»
– « Yeah, but after conversation with her I will be an upset one, but you are right, she will totally loose it if she'll know that I called to Emily before her, so we made all the decisions and I can start my calling marathon?»
– « You start, I'll take a quick shower and next we are heading for a breakfast with everyone, you can leave one of the calls for after breakfast.» Logan said kissed her on a forehead and walked in bathroom.
Rory hesitated, but decided to call her mom now, she knew her reaction, so she just needs to go though it.
– « Fruit of my lion's, hello, happy Halloween.»
– « Hello mom, Halloween was yesterday » she nervously chuckled.
– « I know, but we haven't talked yesterday, you were very busy honey.»
– « Well, yes obviously, we had a huge party and whole day were preparing for it, I'll email you pictures from it, Finn was right when he decided to do it in "The Great Gatsby" theme.»
– « Oh, yes your aussie friend, I remember how he complemented my genes.» Lorelai chuckled.
– « Mom actually I have something to tell you.»
– « Oh, no, no, no, Rory what's going on, you aren't calling me from jail, are you?»
– « Mom what? Why are you thinking like that, I am calling you from our hotel suit and I am still in bed.»
– « Okey, Okey you just sounded like you do when you are telling me some news which I am not going to like.»
– « Well...»
– « Ror! What's going on?»
– « Mom... We are engaged » Rory finally said those words.
– « WHAAAT?»
– « Yesterday, we arrived an hour before party started, we were on that beautiful terrace and Logan asked me to marry him and I said yes, and before you'll ask we talked about it and I gave him a greenlight for a proposal.»
– « You are out of your mind Lorelai Leigh Gilmore! Are you marrying him because of that's his condition to be with you? That if you are not married that he will not stay with you and will leave again?»
– « What? Mom no! I am marrying him because I love him, 5 months ago I was scared as hell of future, of anything what's going to happen, but now I am more matured and settled in my new chapter of life and that's means that I am truly ready for what our future holds for us.»
– « Okey, okey, give me a minute» Lorelai said and hanged up.
Rory was stunned, what just happened, while she was shockingly sitting in bed, Lorelai was actually freaking out and cursing in Stars Hollow. When Luke saw her he tried to calm her down.
– «Lorelai what's going on?» he asked
– « She's marrying him! She is marrying that brat, unserious, trust fund limo boy!»
– « Rory, she is getting married? What? When?»
– « I don't know, he proposed to her yesterday, before their Halloween party, I don't know anything else.»
– « Why?»
– « Excuse me?»
– « Why you don't know? I believe that Rory for a hundred percents called you prepared for questions.»
– « I, I yelled at her and next said that I need a minute to think»
– « You at least congratulated her?»
– « What?»
– « Lorelai , your daughter called you at the morning, definitely to first person to tell about her engagement, and you didn't congratulated her?»
– « Oh my goodness! I am a terrible mother» she practically cried
– « No, you are not, you are just giving your thoughts about Hartford people to go ahead and destroy your relationship with her. Lorelai she is dating him for last 3 years, yes they have their ups and downs, but everyone's relationships are going through something like that. He is a good boy and he loves her, everybody knows it and sees, why you can't?»
– « I, I don't know, I don't like him and I don't think that I'll ever like him, but you are right I have to congratulate her and to try at least be calm.»
This time Lorelai was the one who called:
– « Mom?»
– « Sweety my congratulations, sorry that I didn't said it before» Lorelai said sincerely.
– « It's okay mom, thank you, I really hope that you are okey.»
– « Yes, yes I, I am Ror. You made any decisions? But oh it's to early to aske about that.»
– « Actually we talked this morning, talked a lot and decided to have a wedding in the spring 2009 in New York and to start preparations from this spring.»
– « Oh okey, that's a huge decision, but why in 2009.» and Rory told her their reasons.
– « So, he is okay to wait more than a year before your wedding? You are sure?» Lorelai asked curiously.
– « What? Yes mom, of course he is okay, why you are asking?»
– « I just want to be sure, that you are not rushing into something.»
– « No mom, I am not.» and Lorelai was actually happy with the fact that her daughter was still planning everything very accurate and not rushing with this wedding, maybe a lot of things will happen in this year and it will be cancelled.
– « Okey, when you are going to tell about your proposal to your grandparents and father?»
– « Right after you I'll call to dad and after breakfast to grandparents, so please can you hold on a little bit with news and start to tell to everyone at afternoon at least? Well except Luke.» actually Rory hoped that Lane will be the first one to tell townspeople
– « He already knows and yeah of course, no problem, I hope that I will not hear Adolfs screams all way from Hartford.» Lorelai laughed.
– « Okay thanks mom, bye, have a good day.»
– « Bye honey and congratulations again.»
After hanging up Rory looked at Logan who was already dressed up.
– « Well, that went good» Logan said.
– « It went okay, she just yelled at me, hanged up and I assume after it talked to Luke, who made her to call me back more calmly, but at least she said congratulations twice and if you are happy, she haven't mentioned anything bad about you» they laughed at it.
– « I am going down at hotels restaurant, you change and make next call, to dad?»
– « Yeah, it definitely will be easier than with mom»
– « Okay, good luck, I love you.»
– « Love you too.» she kissed him goodbye.
When she decided about her outfit, she called her dad:
– « Hey kiddo, good morning.»
– « Hi dad! Good morning, how are you, how is Gigi?»
– « I am good, Gigi is better than anyone else, she loved her Halloween costume, thank you with help of choosing it, she was an amazing Princess Aurora. How went your 20s party?»
– « Oh I am so happy for that, I am waiting pictures of her and our party went perfectly, actually I have something to tell you.»
– « Please tell me, you are not calling me from jail.» Christopher chuckled.
– « What? Why everyone is assuming that something bad happened when I am saying this words and if what I was in jail just for a few hours just once in my life.» Rory said while she was pretending to sound offended.
– « Fos stealing a yacht»
– « Nobody's perfect!» they laughed
– « So what are your news?»
– « Dad, Logan proposed, again and this time I said yes.» Rory said while was praying inside that at least one of her parents will be truly happy.
– « Oh, wow, proposed? That boy doesn't knows how to give up» Christopher chuckled a little nervously. « Honey I am happy for you and for Logan, you deserve to be happy and you choose a good one there, my congratulations»
– « Dad thank you, thank you for being happy about this news!»
– « You talked to your mom, haven't you?»
– « Yeah, just before you»
– « And she wasn't very excited?» and after that Rory told him about Lorelai's reaction.
– « Ror, just give her some time, she'll come around.»
– « Yeah, I hope so, at least she has time for more than a year.»
– « What do you mean?»
– « Oh, I forgot to mention, we decided to have a wedding in the spring 2009 in New York.»
– « Wow, that's cool. Ror actually I want to ask you something.» Christopher said seriously.
– « What?»
– « I want to pay for your wedding, fully.»
– « What, dad, no I can't accept it, it's too much.»
– « No it's not, Rory listen, I was an absent parent, I know that I have missed to many milestones in your life and I really want to help you with your wedding, you are half a Gilmore and half a Hayden getting married to a Huntzberger, you can try to do what you want, but there will be at least 250 guests, and knowing your grandma and assuming how Logans family is, they all will want to have a lot of things to decide about your wedding and if they are going to pay, you will be to shy to refuse anything. And if I will pay, you will have last word and you'll have your wedding as you want, Ror please give me an opportunity to be a good dad for you at least in this.» he said sincerely.
– « You know that you weren't that much awful father, yeah you were absent and we had our ups and downs, but I knew that you love me and that you just don't know how to be a father in your 20s, but at least you are prepared to be an only parent for Gigi and dad we both know that I have my own daddy issues because of your absence, but I love you too and thanks for trying to do things right now. I have to talk to Logan about your offer, but thank you.» Rory said honestly.
– « Okay kiddo, I'll wait for your answer and we will meet at Thanksgivings right?»
– « Yeah of course, I'll email you our schedule, yes I am a control freak and I have a schedule for our Thanksgiving days.» they laughed at this statement.
– « Okey, then I can't wait to meet you, bye Ror, say hello from me to Logan.»
– « Okeydoke, bye dad, hug Gigi from me.» Rory felt much better after conversation with Christopher. While she had her conversation's Logan also had a little chat with Honor.
– « Honor, can you do me a favor?»
– « Baby brother what's going on?»
– « I don't want to talk to our parents.»
– « Yeah, I know, not some news.»
– « Honor, why do you think I started this conversation?»
– « I don't know, maybe you are too excited after an engagement and you... Oh no, no, no and again no!» Honor said when she saw her brothers face.
– « You don't know what I am going to say!» Logan nervously chuckled.
– « You my boy are going to ask me to bring your news to our parents and no way, when I was in mansion for last time, I also went for you and spent hours in head-to-head conversation with our mother to make her be silent about her opinions.»
– « Well this time I am asking you to just to call them, because of after breakfast Ace is going to call to her grandparents and till evening whole Hartford will know about our engagement, it would be better if they will hear about it from you.»
– « It would be better if they will hear about it from YOU Logan!»
– « Honor, come on..»
– « I know, I know, I just had enough of this, I am not an owl!»
– « But you'll call them after breakfast?» Logan looked at her and tried to copy Rorys puppy eyes and to not burst into laughing.
– « Yeah, yeah of course I'll do it, who else if not me?»
– « Oh amazing, thank you sis, I love you»
– « I love you too Loggie» Honor said and hugged her brother.
They had a breakfast with their group of friends and it looked like they all together at one place will not meet for next few months, so Finn had an idea to spend new year's eve together in his parents mansion in Hartford, like they all will definitely spend their Christmas holidays with families and practically all of them are living in Connecticut, so they can have New year's afternoon celebrations with families at like 8-9 p.m and lately meet at his place and welcome year 2008 together and plus his parents will be in Australia for New year's, so they are not going to disturb anyone and Finn is taking all the organisation questions on him. Finn is definitely perfectly organising parties and everybody liked his idea, so they all decided to give their final answers in two weeks. After breakfast Logan and Rory settled in car and she called to her grandparents:
– « Gilmore mansion, Emily Gilmore.»
– « Grandma hi, how are you?»
– « Oh Rory, Hello darling I am good, how are you?»
– « I am also good, grandma you are at home alone or grandpa is with you?»
– « He is at home, in his den? You want me to call him?»
– « Actually I want to speak to both of you, can you call him and put me on a speaker?»
– « Rory is everything okay?» Rory chuckled and thanked God that her grandma didn't mentioned jail.
– « Yes grandma everything is fine, so you'll call him?»
– « Yes of course, please wait a minute.»
– « Hello Rory, how are you, Grandma told me that you have some news for us?»
– « Yes, I have grandpa, hello you too, I am good how are you? How is your health?»
– « Everything is good darling.»
– « Well, I just wanted to tell you that I have some news, yesterday we had a Halloween party in «The Great Gatsby» theme and me and Logan arrived at a party place an hour before, because of he had something planned, well that something was that, that we are engaged! Logan proposed to me and I said yes!»
– « OH MY GOODNESS! Lorelai Leigh Gilmore you are engaged! My huge congratulations darling to you and to Logan!» Emily said emotionally.
– « My congratulations Rory, grandma and I are very happy for you and Logan, he is a good boy I wish you both happiness.» said Richard sincerely.
– « Rory we need to start planning and deciding about your wedding!»
– « Grandma hold on, hold on we already made a few decisions and thank you for congratulations.»
– « Really?»
– « Yes grandma, we want to have our wedding in the spring 2009 in New York and ro start wedding preparations from march, let's have all the discussions at Thanksgivings when we will meet.»
– « Oh, okey Rory, it's good that we will have time for a proper preparation for your wedding, can I start telling about that to my friends?»
– « Yes grandma, you can tell about our engagement to your DAR friends.»
– « Does Huntzbergers know about your engagement?»
– « Well Honor was there yesterday and she is going to tell them today.»
– « Oh okey, that's amazing. So we will see you at Thanksgiving.»
– « Yes, yes of course.»
– « Okay, than congratulations again and goodbye.»
– « Okay, thank you again and goodbye.»
– « Wow this morning was really very productive.» Rory said and hugged Logan.
– « Yes it was and now I have to let you fly away from me.» Logan said and kissed her on forehead.
– «But we will meet in less then a month, for full 4 days!»
