Chapter 34 Big Ape

Moana and her allies were feeling relaxed and at ease at Maui's victory against Gutt and the rescue of Ruby and Chelsea. Dave and the other monsters glared at Moana's group, but appeared they weren't going to try anything, either due to being ordered by Gutt not to try anything if they lose or maybe not wanting to have to fight both Moana's group and the Punch Monkeys. Moana glance over at Silas who had the key Webs had traded for her freedom. She didn't like the idea of the monsters having one of the keys, but if she tried to go after the bird monster, he would simply fly away and escape with the key and the other monsters wouldn't just around and let Moana go after the key. Moana was trying to think of a way to get the key, when the ground shook then stopped then shook again. This got everyone's attention as they looked around in confusion.
"What is that?" Asked Wolf.
"Earthquake?" Asked Snake.
The Punch Monkeys chirped in fear and Webs looked at them in alarm.
"The Spiny Mandrilla is coming this way!" Said Webs.
Down in the clearing Maui and the barely conscious Gutt felt the ground shaking and turned to a large tunnel on one side and saw a huge monster that must have been the Spiny Mandrilla emerge. The Spiny Mandrilla was a hybrid of a spiny echidna, a silverback gorilla and a mandrill. It was nearly 400 feet tall had dark fur on most of it's body except for it's head and shoulders, which was white. The Spiny Mandrilla had a pink nose, blue marks on it's face, a mouth full of fangs, red eyes, and on it's back were long red quills.
The Spiny Mandrilla entered the clearing and beat it's big chest letting out a savage roar. The Punch Monkeys, Moana's group, and the other monsters flenched at the sight and sound. The Spiny Mandrilla then looked down and took note of Maui and Gutt. Maui quickly changed into a giant hawk and began to try and fly away, which angered the Spiny Mandrilla as it tried to swipe at him. The demigod managed to avoid the swings and flew and took a swipe at the big monster's face with his talons, striking it, and leaving some scratches on the monster's face making it shout in pain and anger.
"He needs help!" Said Moana.
"Alright I'm on it!" Said Ruby as she shook herself and gave herself a few good slaps to the face to shake off the last affects of the dart that had struck her.
Ruby jumped down into the clearing as her body began to transform into her giant kraken form. She landed on the ground fully transformed with a loud thud. The Spiny Mandrilla began to turn to the new threat
"Pick on someone you're own size you big dirty ape!" Yelled Ruby as her skin began to harden and she threw a punch with her right fist.
Smack!
Ruby's fist struck the Spiny Mandrilla in the face and he staggered back a bit stunned. The Spiny Mandrilla rubbed it's jaw and spat out a tooth that landed on the ground. The monster looked down at the tooth and then glared at Ruby. The kraken girl gulped and raised both her fist up to fight. Even as a giant kraken the Spiny Mandrilla still towered over Ruby. The Spiny Mandrilla beat it's chest and lunged at Ruby pounding his fists on her. Ruby's harden skin absorbed the blow, but the force of the blows knocked her back. Ruby tried to throw a punch out the Spiny Mandrilla, but the monster easily blocked it and picked Ruby off the ground and held her over his head. The kraken girl was then hurled through the air and crashed to the ground with a mighty thud. The Spiny Mandrilla tried to go after Ruby, but Maui flew above the big monster turning himself into a large blue whale that landed smack on top of the monster's head! The Spiny Mandrilla collapsed to the ground a bit stunned and Maui quickly changed into a giant hawk and flew over to Ruby.
"You alright?" Asked Maui.
"Yeah...a bit shaken up, but I'm ok." Said Ruby as she pushed herself off the ground.
As that happened Thunderclap flew down to the clearing and picked Gutt up. Thunderclap quickly flew back up and rejoined Dave and the other monsters, who decided it was best to retreat from the scene, before the Spiny Mandrilla turned it's attention to them. They still had the key, so there was a small victory for them. The pirates and monsters fled the scene.
The Spiny Mandrilla recovered and pushed himself off the ground with a snarl. Ruby let out a yell of her own and fired her eye lasers at the Spiny Mandrilla, only to have the big monster dodge out of the way. The giant kraken fired more eye beams at the Spiny Mandrilla who continued to dodge out of the way as he leaped around the clearing. The Spiny Mandrilla prepared to leap at Ruby, but Chelsea came to Ruby's aid by blasting the Spiny Mandrilla with her trident from one of the clearing walls and threw the monster off balance allowing Ruby to finally hit it with her eye lasers sending the Spiny Mandrilla crashing into a wall. The Spiny Mandrilla let out a angry roar and ripped a rock out of the wall before he chunked it at Ruby. Ruby raised her arms to block and the rock struck them and exploded to bits knocking Ruby off balance. The Spiny Mandrilla quickly closed the distance and slammed into Ruby knocking her to the ground.
"Get away from my friend!" Yelled Chelsea as she fired a blast from her trident at the Spiny Mandrilla.
The Spiny Mandrilla dodged the blast and leaped at the wall latching onto it and began to scale it to get at the mermaid. Moana, the Bad Guys, and the Punch Monkeys suddenly appeared besides Chelsea and they all began to pelt the Spiny Mandrilla with rocks making the big monster shout in pain and anger from the onslaught. Chelsea fired another blast from her trident and struck the Spiny Mandrilla's hand burning it a bit and making it lose it's grip. The Spiny Mandrilla clung to the wall with one hand and blew on it's burnt hand as Maui flew onto the scene above the monster and changed into his human form. Maui dropped down and struck the Spiny Mandrilla's hand with his hook making the monster scream in pain and let go of the wall dropping to the ground and fall onto his back. Maui turned back into a hawk and flew around in the air.
The Spiny Mandrilla pushed itself back up and picked up a rock to throw at Moana and her allies, when a rock flew and struck him in the back of the head. The monster turned to see Ruby near the tunnel it had entered from beckoning for him to come after her. Ruby dashed into the tunnel and the Spiny Mandrilla roared and chased after her.
"What's she doing?" Asked Chelsea in concern.
"I don't know, but we need to go after them." Said Moana waving at Maui.
Maui swooped down and gave Moana and Chelsea a lift with his feet carrying to the tunnel after Ruby and the Spiny Mandrilla.
The tunnel was full of twist and turns. Ruby ran on her three tentacle legs and came across a large dark ravine that looked like it went down possibly for miles and it gave her a crazy idea on how to beat the Spiny Mandrilla. The big monster arrived on the scene and faced Ruby, who now had her back to the ravine. Ruby went into her camouflage mode, which caught the Spiny Mandrilla by surprise and Ruby delivered a few good punches to the monster's face and gut hurting and angering the monster a good bit before she returned at the edge of the ravine and made herself visible for the Spiny Mandrilla to see.
"Come and get me!" Yelled Ruby.
The Spiny Mandrilla roared as it charged forward and leaped at Ruby. As the beast was about to collide with Ruby, the kraken began to quickly shrink and change into her humanoid form, so instead of hitting Ruby, the Spiny Mandrilla flew over her and straight into the ravine with a scream as it fell and vanished from sight.
"That was a bit too close." Said Ruby as she looked down at the ravine.
"Ruby!" Called Chelsea, as she, Moana, and Maui flew onto the scene.
"You're ok!" Said a relieved Moana as Maui landed on the ground.
"What happened to the Spiny Mandrilla?" Asked Maui.
"It fell down there." Said Ruby indicating the ravine.
"How'd you do that?" Asked Maui.
"I tricked him into leaping at me and I shrank down at the last second." Said Ruby.
"That's awesome!" Said Chelsea.
"Smart." Agreed Moana.
"Alright let's go see the others. I'm sure the Punch Monkeys will be pleased and then will go about getting that second key." Said Maui.
"We still need to get that key Gutt's group took." Said Moana.
"Will worry about them later, besides they don't know where the treasure is and they still need the second key." Said Maui.
With that said the four heroes headed back to meet up with the Bad Guys and the Punch Monkeys.
