Chapter 30 News Spread

Ruby and Chelsea filled Moana and the others in on their battle with Monstro as Chelsea used her mermaid magic to heal Ruby's scrapes and bruises. Moana, Maui, and the Bad Guys were super impressed with what Ruby and Chelsea told them. It was still hard believe that a monster like Monstro had been defeated and now was dead. After the story was told and Ruby's injuries had been healed the group loaded up in the boats and headed on to Beast Island.
Unbeknownst to the group Thunderclap had been sent out ahead of the pirates and Dave's group to spy on Monstro and had witnessed the sneeze escape, bits of the battle, and the part of the island that had apparently collapsed and killed Monstro. Thunderclap circled the dead whale monster from above and couldn't believe what he saw. He quickly returned to the ships and reported what he saw to Gutt, Dave, and the two crews. The pirates and monsters were very shocked by this news and many of the pirates became very nervous about perusing the beings that had killed the Devil Whale. Gutt however wasn't deterred by this news and ordered Thunderclap to lead the ships to where Monstro's body was.
Thunderclap did as he was told and lead the ships to where Monstro's body was. The ships anchored and the crews got off and onto the island. They headed to the collapsed area and beheld Monstro's dead body. Many of the pirates and monsters looked at Monstro in shock. Gutt marched over to the dead whale to inspect it. He got close and then stabbed his sword into whale. The crews looked at Monstro fearing the Devil Whale might move and reveal that it was still alive, but the beast remained still proving itself to be dead. Gutt pulled his sword out of the whale and some blood dripped out of the fresh wound. Dave crept over to inspect Monstro.
"Can you make any useful potions from Monstro's blood?" Asked Gutt.
"I believe so." Said Dave as he pulled out a few buckets and began to collect the blood in them.
Gutt turned to the rest of the monsters. He had noticed their fear about perusing the ones that defeated Monstro and saw they needed a pep talk to brighten get back into the spirit of the hunt.
"Listen up you scurvy dogs, I get it that you're now afraid and intimidated by our prey, since they managed to take Monstro down, but that was due to luck and being smart. Monstro was a mighty and fearsome foe, but he was one monster and he wasn't the brightest creature in the sea. If Monstro had been a tad bit smarter he wouldn't have been lead into a trap and gotten killed. There are many of us and I can tell you that all of us are smarter then Monstro. Using our skills and smarts, we will find Maui and his little friends and then we will beat and capture them! We're the fiercest and deadliest pirates in the world!"
The pirates and monsters looked at Gutt and then they all cheered in agreement, their pride and eagerness restored. Gutt smiled at the group and went back to his ship. He went through his things and pulled out a magic onyx mirror and rubbed it. The mirror glowed and Tentacular's face appeared in it.
"What do you have to report?" Asked Tentacular.
"There's been a very big development. Last time I spoke with you Maui and his allies ran into Monstro and they were swallowed whole. Now Maui's group escaped Monstro's body and the kraken and the mermaid fought Monstro and they lured him into a trap and killed him!" Said Gutt.
"What? Monstro is dead?!" Said Tentacular in shock.
"Indeed he is. One of the flyers reported it and the me and my crew found the body and confirmed he was dead." Said Gutt.
"This is troublesome, the mermaid and kraken are proving themselves to be a affective team like their ancestors before the heart of Te Fiti was stolen. They could actually succeed in returning the heart, stoping Te Kā, and ending the war between mermaids and krakens." Said Tentacular looking serious.
"What should we do?" Asked Gutt.
"Continue with perusing Maui and his allies and if a opportunity presents itself to get the heart and kill the mermaid and the kraken take it, but do not bother or harm the Bad Guys in any direct way, they're still on a mission for me and they managed to befriend Maui and his allies. If must interfere simply restrain them, until Maui and his group are no longer a problem." Said Tentacular.
"Understood." Said Gutt.
"I must go alert the other high monsters about Monstro's defeat." Said Tentacular before his face vanished from the mirror.
Gutt gathered his crew and the other monsters and their ships set out after Maui and his group.
Word of Monstro's defeat spread through the ocean like fire. Many sea creatures had witnessed the battle between the Devil Whale and Ruby and Chelsea. Seagulls and pelicans spread the word through the air and various fish spread the word amongst each other and it spread through the sea, eventually reaching both the mermaid kingdom and the kraken kingdom.
Nerissa was in her throne room going over some official papers, when one of her servants brought the news to her.
"My queen. Monstro, the Devil Whale is dead!"
"Dead? How did this come to be?" Asked Nerissa.
"From what we have gathered, a mermaid with red hair like yours battled Monstro and played a part a part in the monster's death." Said the servant.
"Red hair like mine? Chelsea! My daughter fought Monstro and somehow killed him!" Said Nerissa in shock.
"We believe so." Said the servant.
One part of Nerissa was very surprised by this and the other was very proud. Killing a creature like Monstro was a great feat.
"There's more my queen. According from what we heard a young giant kraken was involved in the fight. It seems that both your daughter and the giant kraken worked together to beat Monstro." Said the servant.
"A giant kraken?" Said Nerissa in thought.
Nerissa knew that there were only about three giant krakens left in the world. She already knew it couldn't have been the Kraken Queen due to her history and hatred towards mermaids. Agatha was out due to her age, so that just left one kraken left. Princess Ruby. Nerissa didn't know much about the Kraken Princess except for her name and age. Why was Chelsea with the Kraken Princess? Did Ruby kidnap Chelsea? Nerissa didn't know what to make of this.
"Tell our troops to find my daughter and the Kraken Princess. I don't know what's going on, but I want them found." Said Nerissa.
"Yes my queen." Said the servant before she swam off.
"I will not lose another family member to those vile krakens." Vowed Nerissa to herself.
At the kraken kingdom, Grandmamah and Agatha were in the throne room going over some maps in their search for Ruby, when one of the smaller humanoid male kraken servants approached them.
"My queen. Monstro had been killed and we believe that young Princess Ruby had a hand in it!" Said the servant.
"What?!" Said both Grandmamah and Agatha in shock.
"Word is that a giant kraken fought against Monstro and lured him into a cave that collapsed. Not only that, but it was said that the giant kraken was aided in battle by a young mermaid with red hair who was armed with a very powerful trident." Said the servant.
"Mermaid with red hair? Nerissa? No that can't be. She hates our people. The mermaid advisor, Lola had red hair, though I don't think she has a powerful trident, nor is she really young.." Said Grandmamah.
"Though, doesn't Nerissa have a daughter?" Asked Agatha.
"She does. I believe her name is Chelsea, though why is Ruby with the mermaid princess and why did they fight together against Monstro?" Said Grandmamah.
"Perhaps Ruby and Chelsea are friends who are on a adventure if some kind. I remember being very adventurous when I was Ruby's age." Said Agatha.
"A kraken and a mermaid friends? Don't be absurd! It's most likely the two of them just happened to be in the same area as Monstro and they saw him as a bigger threat and a shared enemy, so they team up to beat him and survive nothing, then they went there separate ways nothing more." Said Grandmamah.
"Well...Ruby was seen getting into a boat with the mermaid and they were said to be with a human and the demigod Maui." Said the servant.
"Ruby is with Maui and there's a human sailing the sea? Maui hasn't been seen since the heart of Te Fiti was stolen by him and no human has dared sailed the sea since then." Said Agatha.
"None of this is making sense!" Growled Grandmamah in annoyance.
"We it seems if we want this to make any form of sense, we need to find Ruby and ask her what is going on." Said Agatha.
"Spread out and find Princess Ruby. I want to know where she is and then alert us, so we can go to her ourselves." Said Grandmamah to the servant.
The servant bowed and swam off. Grandmamah looked over at Agatha who had a small smile on her face.
"What are you smiling about?" Asked Grandmamah.
"I just had a thought. What if Ruby has made friends with Princess Chelsea and the two of them are out on some adventure to try and bring peace between our people and the mermaids." Said Agatha.
"Peace between us and the mermaids? Don't be absurd." Said Grandmamah.
"Well then tell me what's going on then. We just heard that Ruby and Chelsea fought together and defeated Monstro and they also appear to be traveling together. I don't fully know or understand what's going on, but it seems more then likely that Ruby and Chelsea have become friends and are trying to bring peace between us and the mermaids despite your teachings and hate and Nerissa's teachings and hate. If that's true then I hope they succeed so this war can finally come to an end." Said Agatha staring her mother down.
Grandmamah maintained eye contact with Agatha for a while, but then looked away.
"We have other matters to attend to." Muttered Grandmamah going back to the maps.
Agatha just smiled at her little victory before going back to the maps as well.
Miles away aboard Moana's boat, Ruby and Chelsea were discussing the legendary feat of defeating Monstro and what it could mean for both them and their quest.
"Once my people and your people hear about what we did together, they'll surly realize that the war was wrong and that the krakens and mermaids should work together." Said Chelsea.
"And once any of them catch up to us, we can tell them about the heart and about restoring it. That should get them to see that working together would be in our best interest. My Grandmamah might be against it, but my mom would be onboard and convince the other krakens to stop fighting the mermaids and help us." Said Ruby.
"My mom might be a bit harder to get onboard, but if we speak to her together and tell her what happened, I'm sure we can convince her to stand down, get the mermaids to stop fighting the krakens, and aid us in our quest." Said Chelsea.
"First we got to get that second key, then the Instrument of Destruction, so we can destroy it, so it doesn't cause any harm or fall into the wrong hands." Said Ruby.
"Agreed." Said Chelsea.
"Beast Island is up ahead!" Called Wolf from his boat.
Everyone looked forward and saw land in the distance. Soon the adventure for the second key would begin.
