Chapter 28
Spider-Man swung as fast as he could, determined to get to Fisk Tower in time for the raid, he knew Fisk wouldn't go quietly but this was it, it was time to finally bring down the Kingpin once and for all. He realized that the call had maybe come out a bit late as he found himself in quite a predicament as he reached Fisk Tower only to find the police had it surrounded but were pinned down by heavy gunfire as Fisk's men all began firing on the from upper windows and the awning above the main doors.
'I knew Fisk wouldn't go quietly but still, this is…' Spidey noted and sighed. "Captain?"
He had landed on the side of a police van, covered from the gunfire, Captain Anderson was there, gun drawn and ducked behind the van too. He looked around and grimaced.
"We've managed to put the information to good use, anyone who he could bribe to make charges disappear was prevented from getting anywhere near the case and will soon be facing their own legal troubles." He explained. "Of course, we've still gotta arrest him, if we can even get to him."
Peeking over the van and grimacing Spidey turned his attention back to Captain Anderson.
"I'm gonna go and…"
Captain Anderson nodded. "Do your thing."
Spidey nodded and pulled himself up with a web-line, swinging towards the men on the awning who turned their guns on him. They tried to open fire on him but he used his Spider-Sense to quickly dodged between the blasts and avoid any hits, he quickly took two men out with his webs and then caught the third and secured him with webs too while bursting through the window.
"Hello there." Spidey called out. "Officers, come on in."
Fisk's men cried out in shock and now the tide turned.
The police were able to get inside and now it was a straight up fight, trying to get through Fisk's men. Spidey made sure to help the officers everywhere he could. He worked on securing several of the thugs, pinning them to walls with webs or fighting with them to knock them out.
'Gotta keep pushing through.' Spidey told himself. 'The sooner we can break through all this, the sooner we can take down Fisk. Thankfully there isn't anyone here but him and his thugs...that's why they waited until so late.'
He smiled, glad of that, it meant less civilians to worry about, they wouldn't get caught in the middle. So it was they were able to take down the first wave of Fisk's men and began working their way up the stairs, Spidey took an alternative route, namely using the vents he used on his first visit to get further up and even take down loan guards along the way who could have ambushed the police.
"Spider-Man, do you copy?" Captain Anderson remarked through his phone.
He was surprised by this. "What's up Captain?"
"We've got a problem, Kingpin has rigged bombs on three specific floors to try and cover his escape. We need to disarm them before he can even attempt to do that." Captain Anderson explained.
Spidey grimaced. "Of course he's planning something like this. What floors captains, I'll find the bombs and make sure the bomb squad can get to and disable them."
"Floors thirty-five, forty-two and fifty-nine." Was the reply.
"Okay, got it. Coming to floor thirty-five right now."
With that he quickly exited the vents and leapt onto the very floor he mentioned, ready to find the bomb.
It was then he realized just what was going on as he saw more guards, mostly likely nearest the bomb and quickly turned invisible.
"Uh oh." He muttered. "Uh Captain, your bomb squad might want to be extra cautious."
"What's going on?"
Spider-Man grimaced. "I've found the bomb, but it's guarded...by Hunters."
"Hunters?" Captain Anderson gasped. "Dammit, this is not good, it's safe to assume the other two bombs are guarded too."
Spidey sighed. "Yeah...I'll take care of it, just hold on."
With that he crept in and began getting to work, it was certainly not going to be a good idea to just try and take on the Hunter's head on, so his invisibility and using stealth attacks from above would be the best way. Luckily it worked in the end and soon the Hunter's were all subdued. Turning visible again Spidey dropped down and located the bomb, he took a beacon out and attached it to the bomb.
"Captain, I've got a beacon on the bomb, can you follow it."
"Yes, my boys can too, it's all clear?" He replied.
Spidey smiled. "Yeah, it's clear, tell them to come on up, I'll go and take care of the other two, they'll be guarded as well."
"Got it."
With that he got to work as the bomb squad just arrived. Meanwhile the police continued to try and deal with the rest of Fisk's men, luckily the Hunters were not yet tangling with the police, so that worked to his advantage and finally, after some time, he was able to finally secure all three bombs and soon they were all disarmed, just in time for Spidey to reach the top floor and enter the large anteroom outside Kingpin's office.
He immediately tensed as the doors to the office burst opened and Kingpin emerged, holding a katana in his hand.
"You...I should have known you'd be involved in this." He growled. "You have stood in my way for the last time."
Spider-Man shrugged. "What can I say Willy, sorry."
Kingpin immediately advanced towards him. "You will pay for this, you are not leaving here alive!"
"You know it's funny, you're not the first to say that to me...I hope you're not upset about wasting ten million, I seem to survived the worst." Spider-Man quipped back.
"Those assassins failed, so I'll take care of this myself, now you-!" Kingpin yelled back.
But before he could do anything, he suddenly yelped, dropping the katana as he found himself launched across the room and pinned to the wall by a net.
"You, you betrayed me!" Kingpin roared.
Spidey tensed again as the familiar dark voice responded.
"No, I just no longer have a use for you. I couldn't care less about your money."
It was Kraven, who was walking in from the balcony. He wasn't even looking at Kingpin, his gaze fixed on Spider-Man.
"I have finally found the one thing I have been looking for, I am sure of it." He remarked. "Come Spider-Man, it is time we finish this."
Spidey grimaced, but remained on guard as Kraven walked right up to him yet strangely his Spider-Sense didn't go off.
"This fight must be pure, no interruptions, we must fight as equals, that is why I am offering you this." Kraven replied.
He then removed something from his belt and held it up, a potion in some sort of vial.
"How can I trust you're not trying to poison me?" Spider-Man countered.
Kraven smirked. "Because I will drink first, I take half, you take the rest, we fight."
Spider-Man grimaced but then pulled his mask up enough to show his mouth. "Alright, let's do this."
So, with Kingpin stuck and watching, Kraven drank half of the potion and handed it to Spidey, who drank the rest of it and fixed his mask. They stepped back to an equal distance and assumed fighting stances and then, as the potion took effect, the battle began.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
