"Hi... how do you know my name, and that I was here, Victor... that's your name, right?" Megumi commented with a smile and an intrigued look.

What should I do now? Should I spill everything? Or play it cool? No, playing it cool might make things worse—she HATES being messed with.

"Uh... Megumi..."

"Yes, stranger? Why aren't you answering? I'm very curious!" Megumi responded in a sweet tone, though it was somehow intimidating.

Okay, okay! I'm here to save you from a horrible death! Because Sunako's plan is going to fail! Literally! Only Miss "Queen of Vampires" will survive, and that's just pure LUCK!Victor blurted out in one breath. Yeah, he wasn't exactly Mr. Diplomacy.

Megumi stared at him, confused.

"How do you know about Sunako's plan? How do you know...?" Megumi began, tilting her head as she looked at the boy, puzzled.

"Listen! This whole village is going to burn—it'll be worse than a Sicilian summer. So when the time comes, we run! And if you don't believe me, I'll show you the proof!" Victor said, glancing at her before pulling out his phone and showing her the latest episode.

"What is this?" Megumi asked, having never seen anything like this, not even in science fiction movies.

"Your future, your... horrible future."

"You mean I'll live here forever!?" she retorted, watching the screen as though it were a movie.

"Hey, but that's me..." she said, noticing herself on screen. "I look so well-dressed and... wait, why am I running from humans? I'm the prey... HEY! Hold on..." Her expression turned to terror as she watched her own martyrdom and subsequent execution.

"What the hell is that!? I don't want to die like that!" she screamed, stumbling backward and falling to the ground, hitting her backside.

"This will happen if no one helps you... and as you can see, your 'beloved' Yuuki-kun will be the one to cause your death... he doesn't love you and never will... he'll prefer to run off with Tohoru, who's turned into a Shiki, than with you!" Victor remarked, watching as Megumi looked at him, trembling. She clenched her fists and stood up.

"No! He—" she began weakly.

"Don't believe me? Here!" Victor said, showing her the relevant part of the episode, where Natsuno says the incriminating line. And the look in his eyes... it was the look of someone in love... Megumi had never seen that look from Yuuki-kun.

"No... no... no... I must have been so blind... Yuuki-kun... is gay! Yuuki is gay! I chased after a gay guy! I'm such an idiot! I'm going to die like an idiot because of a stupid gay who'd rather sleep with Tohoru than with me! I should have figured it out RIGHT AWAY that something was off... no sane guy would ever reject me!" Megumi shouted, falling to the ground, holding her pigtails, on the verge of tears.

"Yeah, that's what I was about to tell you... you're a kind, sweet, gentle girl. Only an idiot or a gay guy like Natsuno would reject you. Oh, and when you bite Tohoru and turn him into a vampire, he'll destroy your 'gift card'. Yeah, he's an asshole... but he was also so sweet... because you, you're still such a sweet girl!" Victor commented, offering her his hand.

"Great, so you just showed me my horrible future, that the guy I like hates me, and what else? Should I expect a piano to fall on my head tomorrow!? Do you have any other 'life-ruining' news for me, Mr. 'Destroy My Life'!?" Megumi yelled, crying.

"No... they'll stay human... You know what? When your father kills Chiruzu, he'll say 'My little girl, they killed my little girl.'" Victor mimicked.

Megumi's face shifted from despair to fury, and she grabbed Victor by the collar.

"MY LITTLE GIRL!? AFTER THEY TORTURED ME EMOTIONALLY FOR 16 YEARS!? Those people I have to call 'parents' are now 'my little girl!'?" Megumi fell silent, letting go of Victor, and stared at the ground. "My little girl... hypocrites."

"I'm here to help you, what you saw can be changed, and if I'd gotten to you earlier, I could have even stopped your transformation! I'm here for you!"

"You!? And who the hell are you!? Aside from—" Megumi turned and started to walk away, but stopped when she heard Victor speak.

"Apart from the only one who actually cares about you!? YES! I'm the only one who gives a damn about you! Oh, and by the way, even Ozaky, the 'super serious doctor who doesn't show feelings,' said your death was wrong, and he even came to your funeral! He didn't do that for anyone else!"

Megumi froze, her fiery red eyes locked onto Victor's green ones.

"How do I know you won't use me and then throw me away?" she asked.

"Because I just want you to survive the slaughter that's coming, and maybe even give you the future you deserve... give you a real happy ending! And Tatsumi is lying to you, he'll never put you in the City Unit! NEVER! Because they know you'd disappear."

Megumi looked at Victor, then back at the phone screen, then back at him.

"If you really are that selfless... and if what you showed me is true... then... screw the Kirishiki, I want to go to the city! But am I really that easy to read?" Megumi snapped, then extended her hand.

"I promise, if I betray you, you have every right to drain me dry!" Victor said, gripping Megumi's cold hand.

She pulled him towards her suddenly, baring her fangs, and whispered in his ear, "I'll definitely do it!" before pulling away.

"No need to kick me out. I'll offer my neck without a problem! But if I'm explaining something, let me finish without getting pissed!" Victor added.

Megumi huffed and stared into his eyes.

"Alright... I trust you, Victor! Get me out of Sotoba alive, and I'll be forever grateful! But if you betray me... draining you will be the least of your worries!" Megumi said, her gaze fierce.
