Roanapur Nights

A Rosario+Vampire and Black Lagoon Crossover

Chapter 15

The makeshift bar held the same charm it always did. For Revy it was good to get out and visit with someone that she loosely associated as a friend. She watched as Eda filled her shot glass, handed it to her, and then filled her own. She downed the brown liquor, realized that it was a knock off bourbon, and glared at the blond that currently wasn't in her usual nun getup.

"What's with the cheap booze?"

Eda swallowed her own drink, "Nothing much, just thought that you'd like to know the possible shit show that's getting ready to happen at your new place."

Revy looked at her, her eyes widened slightly, "What kind of shitshow?"

She watched as Eda poured another shot for them both, "The kind that comes with a cheating exwife coming to visit her ex husband," she said as she finished the shot, "Sources I've got in the Huang Family Compound said that Ling Ling's lover, or whatever he is, has his ex wife coming to visit. Not sure what all is going to happen, but I can't imagine that Ling Ling is going to be too happy with her being there."

Revy nodded, "Yeah, I'd be pissed if some bitch that hurt Rock decided to show up at our place."

She laughed a little bit, "I might see if she could fly."

Eda knew Revy well enough to know when she was joking around, and when she was serious. If she stated that she would give someone that had broken Rock's heart flying lessons then she meant it. It was one of the reasons she stopped flirting with Rock. Revy had taken the step that was needed, and she'd staked her claim, "So, how is married life?"

Revy grinned, "Better than you likely imagined," she said, the smile slightly predatory, "How's everything on your end?"

Eda shrugged, "To be honest it's not bad. I'm still here, and I likely will be for some time," she replied as she looked behind Revy, "I know that I flirted with him a lot, and I mean a whole lot, but I'm glad that the two of you finally got your collective heads out of your asses."

She smiled, "Anyone could see that you're the two that were meant for each other," she said before she polished off her shot, "That said, I am going to have to find someone. I mean I haven't been laid in forever."

Revy raised an eyebrow at her, "Look, fun is fun, but isn't that a whole thing about not doing that? I mean you're a nun right? So married to Christ, right?"

Eda shrugged, "We're in Roanapur, and I like to think of it as guidelines more than anything else," she replied, her voice having a nice beginning stages of a slur, "You know, kinda an open marriage kind of thing."

Revy poured herself another shot, "Forget it," she said before slamming her own shot, "I'm the only one that my Rocky Baby gets to bang on a regular basis. I ain't someone that's good with sharing."

Slowly Revy looked behind Eda. Her eyes narrowed, "So, you got someone new at the church?" she asked, her eyes focusing as she asked, "New guy, possibly from a Spanish mission?"

Eda shook her head, "No, no one like that," she replied, but Revy held her hand up and slowly brought up her cutlass, "Okay, then you've someone attempting to look at your storehouse without a guide."

Eda's entire mood changed. She was still a little buzzed, but she became as serious as it gets. Revy watched as she grabbed her own pistol, "Well, if they're wanting to check on the goods, then it would be wrong to not provide a tour and a demonstration."

The two of them moved silently toward the storehouse, and Eda started to step forward before she stopped, "Shit," she cursed, "Someone put a tripwire up."

Revy looked at the front of her foot, it hadn't touched it, and to be completely honest she was surprised that Eda had even seen it. She followed it, and saw that it was hooked to a claymore, "Okay, I'm going to cut the wire."

She started to move toward the tripwire when the shot rang out. For most people this would have been the moment that their bullet finally found them. A life lived in Roanapur was often one that found itself ended with a bullet to the back of the skull. However, most people hadn't been on the receiving end of multiple sessions with a vampire. Those same people hadn't become a thrall, and they hadn't had their senses enhanced. What should have been a shot that would ended Revy's life was one that grazed her.

"Shit!" she exclaimed as she moved out of the way, "Who the fuck is it?"

There was silence, and she waited. No one stepped forward, and she hated this cloak and dagger shit. She felt something, and before a word could be said she felt two arms emerge from the darkness. The familiar feeling of Rock hugging her was present.

"I felt it," he said, his voice sounding concerned, "I felt the shot, are you okay?"

She nodded, "Someone's in the storehouse, and they've boobytrapped the entire yard in front of it."

She felt him sort of disappear, "Give me a few minutes," he said, "Time to test some of what Cassandra's been teaching us."

A few moments later they heard shouting coming from inside of the building. Shouting in Spanish, but also in Thai, Japanese, and Hindu. There were a few shots fired, before someone came walking outside. The person was actually a woman, Japanese, and she was talking hard and fast. Revy had learned enough Japanese to know that the bitch was begging her ancestors to save her. Her movements were jerky, purposeful, and she watched as she got near the boobytraps.

"Please, stop!" the girl shouted, "Please!"

She stopped, just short of the wire, and Revy moved toward her, "I suggest that you start explaining exactly who you are, what you're doing here, and what is going on, or I can almost promise that you're going to trip that."

The girl nodded hard, "Was hired," she said, her English sounding badly broken, "big shot with Triads, come and offer money. I good thief, said that it is one job, thirty thousand American."

It certainly more than answered what she was doing here. People in Roanapur had certainly looked for their bullet for a little less than thirty grand, but it was hard for her to imagine that anyone in the city would have purposefully attempted to invade the Rip-Off Church for that kind of money. No, the kind of money that she was talking about here was something that would interest an outsider, but not someone with knowledge about the church itself or its customers.

That left who the idiot was that hired them. She said Triads, and while there were a few in town there was only one that she could think of that would possibly be ballsy enough to attempt to rip off the Rip-Off Church, "So, did you get a name for your employer?"

The girl shook her head, and Revy could see how freaked out she was right now, "No, no name, said that money waiting upon delivery, promise!"

She watched as the girl's foot began to step forward, "I tell everything!"

It stopped, and the girl began to cry, "Just want to make money! Have little brother, want to send him to school!"

Revy stepped closer, avoiding the trip line, and she pulled the cutlass and put it against the girl's head. She could see her eyes widening, "And how's that working out for you?" she asked, her voice cold and indifferent, "How's it feel to know that you're likely going to die, and your little brother is going to be alone. Who knows, maybe he'll dress up like a maid and get a job, but regardless your worthless ass will be gone. So, guess that the plan worked hun? No more worrying about him."

She began to cry, her sobs coming in gasping breaths, "Please," she begged as she stood there, "Please, no kill, I leave, I go home, please."

She looked at her, and for a moment she saw Roxy as an older girl. She cursed herself, "Rocky Baby, can you knock her out?"

Suddenly the girl's eyes went wide, and then they rolled into the back of her head before she slowly lowered down to the ground. After that Rock appeared before them. She looked at Eda who was standing there trying to figure out what was happening. The realization that Eda had no idea about monsters came to her. That meant that she was going to have to keep quiet about it.

"So, we've got to have a talk," Revy said to her, "About you, and how you're going to need to keep your mouth shut."

Eda looked at Rock, looked at her, and then looked at the trip line. Before either of them could say a word the line broke, and Rock moved the claymore. Once it was moved he looked at Eda who was obviously still trying to come to grips with what was happening, "Ummm, Rock, want a drink?" she asked as she looked at the building, "And what about the other voices?"

He looked toward it, "Mostly they're knocked out and tied up," he replied, "The one that isn't is the only one that was smart enough to keep away from shadows. I gave him a flesh wound."

Revy nodded, "I'll check."

She moved toward the storage and opened it. There was a man struggling to crawl, and she could see where he'd been shot. Her Rocky Baby hadn't killed him, or even done anything to do him in. All he'd really done was give him a good shot through a knee. It was a little more than a flesh wound, but not one that would automatically be fatal. She moved toward him, and the stupid asshat finally reached his gun. She drew her cutlass and pressed it to his head.

"Now, someone was kind enough to give you a fuckin' chance, so are you going to toss the fuckin' gun, or do I get to give you some free experimental brain surgery?"

He seemed to consider for a moment before tossing the gun. She turned him over and noticed that he looked like the Spanish guy she'd seen earlier. His features were nice, a little tan, and she could see the makings of a decent goatee on his face. His eyes weren't angry, but they were cold and hard. It was the eyes of a killer, and she knew them well. She had the same eyes.

"So, what now?" he asked, his English far better than the girl outside, "Gonna sell me to some junkie?"

She laughed, "Not hardly," she said, "We know that you were hired by the triads, but your friend outside didn't say who. So, are you talkative, or have you suffered some amnesia? One answer lets you keep the other kneecap, the other answer gives you a matching set."

He looked at her, "Didn't get a name, didn't see a face. The entire thing was done through the dark web," he said after a moment, "To be honest, I was given directions that once everything was done to ensure the others were dealt with and then come to collect myself."

She looked at him, "You know that means you were likely next, right?"

He laughed, "Of course it did. That's why I was going to take insurance, but that's fucked now," he said as he laid there, "so, whoever hired me is likely going to come looking. Or maybe they'll just let it slide. Going to guess that whoever it was wants to keep this under wraps. Probably works with you fuckers."

It was pretty much what she had thought. The entire thing felt like a massive mind fuck, and that meant Chang. If he was having the Rip-Off Church hit it meant that he was doing it because he was going to oppose someone, and likely do it soon. He didn't want them to get any extra firepower. Sure, there were some individuals that had purchased the weapons they'd gotten from the Axis armory they came across, but the last thing they needed was for a fight to break out.

She didn't like it, but likely Chang was looking to start something with the Huang and Miao Families. She knew that when it came to the arms trading they had actually managed to over take them in some of the more exotic weapons. She knew that those were designed for monsters, and that they brought in far more income than the normal weapons. Chang's bosses were likely pissed that he wasn't bringing in the income he had been.

There was no more heroin trade, and that was hurting them. The only thing left was the slave market. They weren't able to do that as often, and it likely was causing them to bleed out, "Thanks," she said before she slammed the butt of her cutlass against his head and knocked him out, "Enjoy your forty winks asshole."

She stepped back outside and looked at Rock, "So, I got an idea of who's been doing what," she said as she got closer to him, "I think that we need to let Ling Ling know what's going on."

Eda stood there staring at them, "Ummm…"

Before she could move Revy shook her head, "Look skank," she said, using the frenemy name she'd used with Eda for years, "You've got two choices right now. Don't say a word, and I mean a fucking word about this, and nothing happens. You get to continue doing your bit here, and we're all happy. The other option is that they know you know, and that comes with a whole lot of other trouble."

She swallowed, "What kind of trouble?"

Rock studied her, "The kind where you disappear," he said, his voice low, "I don't want to see that happen. You're not a bad person, and I don't want to see you just disappear."

She shook her head, "So, what the fuck happened?"

Rock studied her, "Remember the job we took escorting folks to Japan?"

She nodded, "Yeah, I remember," she replied, her voice shaky, "What about it?"

He looked at Revy who shrugged, "Well, while we were there I was shot. It was fatal, I would have died if I didn't get some very specific help," he said before he took off the sunglasses and she looked at his eyes, "It changed me."

She looked at him, "I thought that those were contact lenses," she said, her voice sounding whiskful, "Rock, what the hell happened?"

"He's a fuckin' vampire," Revy said, "He got changed, and my Rocky baby is immortal as fuck now."

She looked at them, "Wait, vampire, are you fucking shitting me? Monsters, are you saying that Monsters are real?"

Revy smiled at her. It was the same kind of reaction she'd had the first moment she realized that they were working with real monsters. It wasn't human kind that she was used to, but actual monsters. The kind of things from old legends. She studied Eda for a moment before she nodded, "Yeah, they're real, and the entire life after death thing is real too," she said as she motioned toward the church, "So, you might reconsider if what you've got is an open marriage or not."

She could see Eda swallowing slightly at the news. She'd expected her to have some sense of belief in what came afterward. She was a fuckin' nun afterall, but then the ways he looked now was closer to someone that just learned the deepest secret in the universe. It was someone that just heard the most pivotal bit of information that they never expected to know. She watched her seem to consider everything for a few moments, "Okay," she said, finally taking a moment to collect herself, "I can keep a secret," she said, her hands shaking, "But I'm going to need a lot more alcohol before I can process this."

She started to turn around, "So, up to a few drinks before you go and report back to Ling Ling?"

Rock shook his head, "Normally I'd be fine with it, but right now I should get over there and let her know. I'm sure that these individuals are going to be collected," he said as he looked at them, "I'm going to suggest that they be sent back home, but then again they came into Roanapur."

Revy nodded, "Yeah, they came here, and they were begging for their bullet. We both know what happens to idiots that do that."

He nodded, and she watched as he began to walk toward the shadows. For a moment he was there, and then he was gone. Seeing him able to do what Cassandra had taught him was about as magical as it came. Not to mention the times he'd used it to tease her had been fun. Every once in a while he had a truly playful streak that was something she wanted to encourage. She then looked at Eda.

"So, drink?"

Eda nodded, and led her toward the makeshift bar. She had no doubt that the nun was going to be drinking herself stupid in a few minutes. She did hope that she wouldn't do anything stupid like blabbing about what she knew while she was intoxicated. If push came to shove she'd help make sure that the secret was kept. She'd feel bad about it, but it wouldn't be the first time that she had to deal with someone that was friendly.

She shook her head and stepped back into the room with Eda. She watched as the nun grabbed a bottle and simply lifted it. The amber liquid sloshed for a moment before she took a long pull from it. She lowered it, passed the bottle, and Revy took a pull as well.

"Revy," she said, before taking a seat, "This brings up all kinds of fucking questions, but the only one that I can really get out is one that I hadn't thought of since I was a teenager. So, what's it like fucking a vampire? I mean, is that whole endurance thing real, and how long does it last?"

The questions had been quick, rapid fired, and Revy felt the burn of the whiskey as it traveled up her nose and out of it, "Bitch!" she exclaimed as she put the bottle down, "Fuck are you trying to make me smell piss poor booze for a week?"

She groaned, "I ain't going to answer all of it, but I will say that yes, the endurance thing is real."
