Author's Note:

Hello Everyone! Here's the next chapter for Earth's Mightiest Huntsmen! But first, let's answer some reviews!

chetkijleha: Keep in mind that Aura is kind of extremely OP, which does allow some characters to at least have a chance to beat some heavy hitters. The Champion of the Universe was the weakest of my potential candidates to be in this final matchup, so that's the one I went with. Keep in mind with the Champion, based on my research, he has been matched or beaten by characters with far less experience than him. Experience isn't the only determining factor in a battle to the death, as our good friends over at Death Battle can tell you. Pyrrha's strength and nimbleness, combined with her powers (not to mention the fact that Tryco lacked the Power Stone, the main reason why he was such a tank in many of his comic appearances), did give her the edge. Yes, it might be a little bit of iffy for this victory, but it certainly won't be a habit. There's no way Pyrrha could beat Magneto in a battle of their powers, for example.

SuperSaiyanFever: Things are certainly happening on Earth. I must say I'm really excited for this upcoming arc-though I can't say that Ruby's going to like it too much based on what's going to happen.

Blackmetalzane22: Tryco certainly falls into the realm of more obscure characters, so I'm not surprised people forgot about him. And yeah, things are going to be pretty bad for certain characters this arc. But not as bad as things are going to be later on.

Noire12: I would argue that this compares to the Volume 3 finale when Pyrrha, with a mostly spent Aura after fighting Grimm for a while and then getting further exhausted battling Cinder, was able to still fling the giant metal gears in the tower at Cinder. At least that's how I see it still making sense.

Eduardo: While I can't say who out of those obscure characters I have plans for, I will say that I have plans for at least one of them, though those plans won't be for a long while.

Red Scorpion: Thanks for that compliment! It means a lot to hear something like that! I definitely have liked exploring more of the Marvel Universe in these early arcs as there's so many cool things out there. While a lot of the story going forward is going to take place on Earth, I do have more plans for the far away future to visit more cosmic places. But at least there are still a lot of cool places on Earth that the characters could still visit (Wakanda, the Savage Land, etc). And no, that's not confirmation that we'll be going to those places. XD. But you are right, this story does seem to have a darker feel to it-possibly because there will always be that looming threat of Ultron in the background and the unknown fate of what's going on back on Remnant. But there will still be bright moments here and there.

Brian.H.H: To be fair, most of the reunions have occurred during big fights, so there hasn't been much chance for good reunions and reactions yet. But it's going to be quite the spectacle when the whole gang is reunited. Yang's amnesia is definitely something I found interesting, especially with the flashes of memory she's been having. Yes, Pyrrha's job would be a bunch of killing, but those people would be actually evil people. In the arena, many of the people she was fighting were also prisoners who didn't want to fight-hence a big reason why she didn't want to kill them. But glad you're enjoying this story so far!

Thank you all for your continued support. You can help out further by adding to the story's TV Tropes page. Now, let's get back to the story.

Avengers Mansion—October 25th

Weiss sat on her bed, holding Myrtenaster in her hands. She took a deep breath, lifting her weapon and placing the tip on the floor, closing her eyes and concentrating as best as she could. After a full minute of this, she opened her eyes, but found that she was still alone. There was no sign of any sort of summoned being.

She let out a sigh, standing up and clipping Myrtenaster back to her side. She had been trying to create a full Summon for weeks now, but still hadn't gotten much progress. Once again, she was left with only her weapon as a reliable means of attack and defense.

Over the past month since she had arrived on Earth, the Avengers had made multiple attempts to make a Dust substitute that could work with Weiss' semblance. But so far, every attempt had ended in failure. So instead, Weiss had decided to focus on improving her weapon—a task she had undertaken under the watchful eyes of Tony and Hank. Ruby had, of course, offered to help, but the last thing Weiss wanted was her having access to it and adding a bunch of things she didn't want.

The best modifications that she had made was probably the closest she'd ever come to getting Myrtenaster back to having its old elemental properties back without Dust. The blade now could be infused with multiple elemental effects, such as fire, ice, and lightning thanks to various. It wasn't much, but at least it was something.

In the weeks since the five of them had stayed at Avengers Mansion, all her friends had made modifications to their weapons, making sure that they could function without needing Dust. Nora had doubled the recoil for her grenade launcher and added a small taser into the handle of her weapon in its hammer mode, which would help her use her Semblance even if there was no way for the enemy to hit her with lightning. Ren had equipped StormFlower with the same kind of mini shock darts that Natasha had in her gauntlets. As for Jaune, he had only opted to add an energy field generator into his shield.

Alongside these modifications, the Avengers had also been putting through vigorous training sessions to make sure their fighting skills were still sharp. Ruby had definitely insisted upon it—she clearly wanted them to help out on Earth as long as they were there.

Which still bothered Weiss a little bit. Ruby (and Nora too) seemed really gung-ho about fighting various crazy supervillains that seemed to be in plentiful supply on Earth. Weiss, on the other hand, would've preferred being able to locate Remnant so they could get home and get back to the fight against Ultron.

She headed for her room's door and opened it, entering the hallway just as Nora, Ren, and Jaune were walking by. "Hey, Weiss," Nora greeted. "Any luck today?"

"Some," Weiss lied. "I'll get it eventually."

"You should have confidence in your progress," Ren told her. "We should all be feeling good about the progress we have made to become better warriors. We are going to need all the training we can get."

"Well, I'd feel a lot better if we knew where the rest of our friends were," Jaune said quietly.

Weiss bowed her head slightly. After a month of searching, there had still been no sign of Blake, Yang, or Pyrrha. Their absence loomed heavily on all their heads, especially for both Ruby and Jaune. Tony had concluded that the three of them were most likely somewhere else in the galaxy. But without any way to get into space, all they could do was send a message out to their space allies to keep a lookout for them—assuming they even got the message.

"I'm sure they'll find their way here sooner or later," Ren assured him. "Everyone else did, after all."

"Yeah," Nora agreed. "Besides, we're currently winning in the numbers. Our team has three people here, while Team RWBY only has two."

"It's not a competition, Nora," Ren warned. "We're all hoping that all three of our missing friends will return at the same time. And don't say things like that to Ruby. She's still Yang's absence pretty hard."

"Speaking of Ruby," Jaune added, "where is she?"

Weiss shook her head. "Where do you think? Still trying to master that flight simulator."

"Pull up, pull up, pull up!" Steve yelled.

Ruby pulled on the control stick hard, sending the ship spiraling back up and away from the ground. "I've got it, I've got it!" she exclaimed.

The vehicle shook as the engines began to give out from the g forces being exerted on them. "Okay, maybe not!" Ruby cried as they once again began to crash.

"Brace for impact!" Steve shouted. CRASH! The vehicle shook before all the monitors started flashing "SIMULATOR FAILED."

Ruby winced. "Whoops."

"It's okay, Ruby," Steve assured her, patting her back with a small smile. "You'll get it eventually."

Ruby smiled back. "Twenty-fifth times the charm?"

"I think that's enough for today," Steve told her. "The simulator needs time to recover from being crashed over and over again."

"Oh. Okay then." Ruby opened the hatch to the simulator, stretching her arms above her head before leaving the room.

After a month of being on Earth, it was clear that if she and her friends wanted to help stop bad guys while they waited for the Avengers to find Remnant, they were going to need fast transportation for missions. And since none of her friends knew how to fly, she had decided to spend some time in the simulator to see if she could figure out how to do it. So far though, she had had little success.

An entire month. As Ruby walked down the hall towards the elevator back to the main floor of the mansion, she could hardly believe that she had been there for a month. It still seemed so surreal being on another world, even knowing that there were other worlds out there apart from Remnant—worlds that were completely free of the Grimm.

But just thinking about Remnant caused the smile on her face to slip slightly. There had still been no word about finding her home world, nor was there any trace of Blake, Yang or Pyrrha. She was really starting to get worried, particularly about Yang and the extent of whatever injuries she had sustained in the fight against Ultron. Then again, none of them had escaped without injury against the murderous android.

But there was nothing she could do to help them right now. The galaxy was a big place, and finding her friends would be next to impossible. Tony and Steve had promised to try to reach out to the Guardians of the Galaxy, but, according to Clint, the Guardians rarely answered their calls.

The only thing that Ruby and the others could do was continue their training and try to help the people of Earth in any way they could.

When the elevator doors opened on the ground floor of the mansion, Ruby wandered to the kitchen, peeking in to see Jarvis opening the oven and removing a tray of cookies. On the counter were several rows of already cooling cookies. She smiled mischievously and crept towards the counter, reaching a hand out for one of the cookies.

"Miss Rose, please do not touch those cookies," Jarvis told her without turning around.

Ruby froze, her hand inches from the nearest cookie as Jarvis turned around. "These are for you and all your friends," he continued, "and not just for you."

Ruby pouted, drooping her head slightly. Jarvis stared her down for a minute. Then he picked one of the cookies and handed it to her. "Just don't tell them," he said with a playful wink.

Ruby grinned and gobbled the cookie down in a heartbeat. "Thanks, Jarvis."

"But that's the only one you get for now."

Ruby gave him a nod and left the kitchen, nearly running into Weiss and the others on her way out. "Hey, Ruby," Jaune said. "How'd the flight simulator go?"

Ruby chuckled awkwardly. "I think that means she crashed," Weiss guessed. "Again."

"I'm getting better though," Ruby defended.

"We're all getting better at our tasks," Ren added calmly. "These Avengers are easily some of the best fighters I've seen, even without auras."

"They've been fighting against bad guys for years," Jaune agreed. "We've mostly been trained to fight the Grimm. Which apparently don't exist here."

"Which is good," Ruby told the others. "If we're going to fight the villains on this world, we're going to need to train harder and better."

"I still don't know about this idea to become 'superheroes,' Ruby," Weiss admitted. "Do we really need to buy into this whole thing? It sounds a little…childish."

"Well of course the ice queen doesn't want to do it," Nora commented. "Come on, Weiss, it sounds like fun!"

"I just think we should be focusing more on trying to find Remnant," Weiss argued. "The sooner we find Remnant, the sooner we can get back there to take the fight back to Ultron."

"There's nothing we can do, Weiss," Jaune reminded her. "We don't know anything about star charts or space patterns or whatever they're doing to try to find Remnant's location. And even if they find it, we can't go back without a plan."

"I know, I know," Weiss insisted, pacing slightly. "I just…I just feel so helpless. We're living comfortably in a mansion while our friends and family are fighting for their lives. And that's assuming that they're even still alive."

Ren put a hand on Weiss' shoulder. "I know you're concerned about your family. We all are concerned with what's been going on back home. But we must have faith that our friends and family are still holding the line against Ultron."

"Ren's right," Ruby agreed, managing a smile. "Maybe they've even managed to kick Ultron's metal butt off the planet. And Uncle Qrow and Dad and Professor Ozpin and all of them are looking for us right now."

It was wishful thinking, and they all knew it. Ruby knew that the situation in Vale was grim when they had left. Even powerful fighters like Ozpin and Qrow were probably getting overwhelmed by the sheer number of enemies on the attack. Hope for their survival was fading by the day.

But there was nothing they could do except wait and hope that their new friends on Earth could find a way back and help. After all, they had beaten Ultron before. They could easily do it again. At least, Ruby hoped that they could—especially with the extra help they were going to get from Thor's people.

Getting involved with fighting crime on Earth was the only thing Ruby could think of that would help them not only sharpen their skills, but also keep their minds off of whatever was going on back home.

"There you all are." Ruby turned her head as Tony appeared. "I've been looking for you."

"Is something wrong?" Ren asked.

"No, nothing's wrong," Tony answered quickly. "I just need you all to come with me."

"Where are we going?" Weiss questioned.

He smiled. "Let's call it a surprise."

Manhattan, New York—October 25th

The nurse walked into her patient's room and stopped when she saw the young woman in there, sitting at the bedside. "Oh—I didn't realize she had a visitor," the nurse remarked.

The young woman stood up, shifting her brown jacket around her. "I was just leaving," she said in a thick Southern accent, heading for the door.

The nurse watched her for a moment. "Are you a friend of Ms. Danvers?"

The woman stopped, sliding her gloved hands into her pockets. "No…I don't think she would see me as a friend."

She headed down the elevator and left the hospital keeping her head bowed low. But as she left the building, she heard the subtle sound of someone shuffling cards.

"Been a while, cher," a male, Cajun voice told her.

The woman didn't turn around. "What do you want, Remy?"

The man stood up straight from where he had been leaning against the wall. "Nice to see you too, Rogue."

She finally turned around. "You didn't answer my question."

Remy approached her. "The Professor needs you back at the mansion."

"I already told y'all I needed time," Rogue reminded him.

"The Professor wouldn't call you back if it wasn't important, cher. Something bad is going down. The others…they've gone missing."

"Missing?" Rogue repeated. "How many are missing?"

"Just about everyone on the team. Scott, Ororo, Kitty, Bobby, Warren, and Peter. All gone."

Rogue crossed her arms, but she was concerned. "Kurt?"

Remy shuffled his card deck again before slipping it into his brown trench coat pocket. "Still around. Trying to track down Logan. Rumor has it he's back in town. But we need you back, cher. Someone coming for the X-Men, and they might be coming for you too."

Rogue gave him a look. "You know they don't like me, Remy."

"Oh, come on, cher, that's all in the past." Remy gave her a charming smile. "We all know you've changed."

"You, Logan, and Kurt maybe. But to everyone else, I'm still just the same enemy they've been fighting for years."

Remy shrugged. "You already done enough to prove yourself to Gambit. That's all that should matter. Now, come on. We gotta go get Logan."

Rogue hesitated. "I don't know, Remy."

"Don't worry, cher. Gambit be right by your side."

She managed an eyeroll. "That makes me feel a lot safer."

Avengers Quinjet—October 25th

Jaune let out a moan, holding his stomach. "Oh, I think I'm going to be sick."

"Easy, Vomit Boy," Nora responded with a smirk. "We don't want to ruin this jet by barfing in it."

He gave her a dark look. "Very funny, Nora."

Meanwhile, Ruby sat in the front cockpit with Steve and Tony. "Where are we going?" she asked.

"As much as we like having you around, kid, you and your people need your own place to stay," Tony explained. "A place where you can live and a place to act as your base of operations. That's where we're going."

"You built a place for us?" Ruby asked.

"Technically, we renovated a place," Tony corrected. "It's an old penthouse of mine. It just needed a little touchup, some new equipment, and a few other things."

"We'll give you a grand tour," Steve added. "I think you'll be happy with what we built for you."

"Speaking of which," Tony said, "we're here."

Ruby craned her neck to look out the cockpit, seeing that they were landing on the roof of a large, three-story building. As they landed, several metal panels closed above them, sealing them in.

"What is this place?" Jaune asked once Ruby, Steve, and Tony had exited the cockpit and had entered the main body of the Quinjet.

"Our new home," Ruby answered. "For as long as we're on Earth."

"You're kicking us out of the mansion?" Nora asked with a dramatic gasp. "And giving us our own place?"

"You guys need a place to stay without all of the world's greatest heroes hovering over your shoulders," Steve explained. "And after a month of getting extra training from us, it's time for you to take that training and see what you can do with it."

"Are you saying we're free to do what we want now?" Weiss asked.

Steve chuckled. "You make it sound like you were prisoners. But yes, we feel like you're ready to start being on your own here—with a few exceptions."

"To make sure that you don't bite off more than you can chew, we're going to have someone here as an adviser and guardian," Tony explained. "We've called in a few favors and got some of the world's top heroes ready to volunteer on a rotational basis to provide you with assistance and extra training as you see fit. Speaking of which," he added, looking over to Steve. "Is he here yet? Or is he drinking at some bar?"

"He'll be here," Steve answered. "He may not like that I've roped him into this, but he'll be here."

"He'd better be here. But for now, let's get these kids settled." Tony crossed the small hanger to the door, pressing his hand on a scanner next to it.

"Welcome, Mister Stark," a pleasant female voice spoke.

"Thank you, Phyllis." Tony turned back to face the Remnantians. "This is a new AI I designed to run things here. She also has a direct line to Avengers Mansion in case of emergency."

The door slid open, revealing an elevator. Tony led the others in, and they rode the elevator down in silence. Ruby tapped her foot in anticipation of what she was about to see.

When the elevator doors opened, the group entered a large living space, complete with a couch, a kitchenette, and a large TV monitor.

"Woah!" Nora exclaimed, instantly darting over and leaping onto the couch. "This place is awesome!"

Steve smiled at Nora's enthusiasm as Tony explained, "We've converted this penthouse into a three-level living and training space, complete with all the amenities a superhero team might need."

"We've also given you access to a villain database," Steve added. "Combined with a crime watch system run by Phyllis, it will help you learn about the villains on this world. Their strengths, weaknesses—everything we have on them will be able to be brought up on your monitor here."

"And wait till you see the security system," Tony added. "Even if this place comes under attack, I don't think the attackers will last very long."

Ruby and her friends exchanged looks. "What do you mean by 'place comes under attack?'" Jaune asked.

"Depending on how effective you are and how many villains you take down, others might try to attack you to take you out," Steve explained. "These defenses, controlled by Phyllis, should be able to keep them all at bay."

"We also have more equipment for you to use," Tony added. "Phyllis, the case please."

A hatch opened up in the wall behind Tony and a robotic arm extended with a case. Tony took it and opened it up, showing off a set of crystal white gauntlets.

"These gauntlets have been specially designed for you," Tony told them, passing them out. "Through these, you can monitor your team's Aura levels and contact them in the field. They can also be used to track one another should you get separated."

Ruby marveled at the sleek design of the gauntlet. "This is amazing!" she exclaimed. "It's just like having a scroll!"

"What is the training room like?" Ren asked.

"Pretty much exactly like the one at Avengers Mansion," Steve answered. "Only smaller. Phyllis can load up various programs and training scenarios whenever you'd like."

"What about transportation?" Jaune asked.

"I could try flying us places," Ruby offered.

"I think that's the absolute last thing we want to do," Weiss warned.

"We'll be sending over another Quinjet later," Tony explained. "Until one of you learns how to fly, Phyllis can run them on autopilot if you go on missions far away from New York. As for problems within New York itself, you shouldn't have any problems running towards danger. Usually all you have to do is just follow the explosions."

"So, you're really just giving us this entire place to live in?" Ren asked.

"It's the least we could do," Steve told him. "You kids needed a place to stay, and Tony was more than happy to remodel one of his old penthouses and turn it into a base for you."

"I have about twelve more just like this one," Tony piped in. "It was really no big deal."

"All this place needs is a name," Ruby decided, turning to face her friends.

"Do we really need to name this place?" Weiss asked.

"I think it should be called 'The Castle of Nora,'" Nora suggested.

Weiss let out a sigh. "I guess we really are going to name this place."

"It should be something that says who we are," said Ren. "Something that we can all agree on."

Ruby thought about it for a moment. "Remnant," she decided then. "Remnant HQ."

It was a decent name to say the least. Not only did it share the name of their world, but it also described what they were. They were a remnant of their people. The only ones free from Ultron's wrath. Possibly the only ones still alive after his war brought Remnant to its knees.

"Stop thinking like that, Ruby," she scolded herself. "You have to keep hoping that they're all still alive."

"I like it," Jaune said.

"It suits us well," Ren agreed.

"I still like my name better," Nora added, "but I guess it works."

"Oh, fine," Weiss said, giving it. "We can call it Remnant HQ."

Steve smiled at the Remnantians. "Welcome to your new home," he said.

Ruby walked over and hugged Steve tightly. "Thanks, Steve," she said. "Promise to keep in contact?"

"Of course," Steve answered. "And if we find any sign of your remaining friends, you'll be the first to know."

Ruby's smile faded a little as she thought of Yang, still missing. Wherever she had ended up, she hoped that her sister was still okay.

"Pardon me, Mister Stark," Phyllis suddenly said. "But the guardian for these young heroes has just arrived."

"Thank you, Phyllis," Tony answered. "Send him up."

"Guardian?" Weiss asked.

"Technically, none of you are adults," Steve explained. "Therefore, you do need someone of legal age watching you. That, and we'd like to keep someone here to keep an eye on things. Rest assured that whoever is here watching you will not interfere in your missions unless absolutely necessary."

"So, we're still being watched," Weiss concluded, crossing her arms. "I thought we were free to do what we wanted now."

"You are," Tony quickly told her. "We just want to make sure you don't bite off more than you can chew."

"Does this mean one of the Avengers is going to be watching over us?" Ren asked.

"Potentially, yes," Tony answered. "Multiple heroes have volunteered for the job, and you may get to see several of them over the course of your stay. Your first one, though, is technically not an Avenger."

"But make no mistake," Steve interjected. "He is the best there is at what he does."

As he spoke, the elevator dinged and opened. Standing inside was a short man with dark hair and large sideburns. He looked relatively unhappy about being there as he entered the room, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Ruby, Jaune, Weiss, Ren, and Nora?" Steve gestured towards the grumpy looking newcomer. "Meet Wolverine."

Manhattan, New York—October 25th

The hooded man watched the penthouse with interest. He had seen his target going inside just moments ago. All he had to do now was sit and wait until the Avengers left. After that, he would be able to launch his attack.

He had heard rumors that these strange new aliens were now living at this building. He didn't care. He also didn't believe in the rumors that were going around about how strong they were. As if someone like Grim Reaper could be beaten by a little girl.

His minions stood behind him, waiting for his command. They would do whatever he wanted at this point. It had taken time to get some of them in line, but the point where they would've stood against him was long past. All that he had to do now was capture one of the most dangerous men on the planet. Then he would be one step closer to his ultimate goal.

"Soon, my minions," he said aloud, rubbing his hands together. "Soon, I will have my revenge."

Cue the classic 90s theme song we all know and love! The X-Men are finally here!

Seriously, you have no idea how long I've been excited for this arc, where I get to bring in the X-Men and my personal favorite Marvel character: Rogue! And we're already kicking things off with some mysterious disappearances. What could be going on?

But anyway, this was a much calmer chapter with no action, simply because, well...the past ten or so chapters have all featured an epic battle, and the next one is going to have some fighting as well. It was time for a breather chapter.

We also get some mentions of some upgrades to more of the weapons here. I tried to think of some logical things that the characters would be able to do and would want, and I think I got a pretty good mix. More upgrades might take place in the future if I feel like it, but this is what we have so far. As for superhero costumes, well...those may or may not come in-mostly because I'm having a hard time coming up with good styles/outfits for the characters. Designing clothing was never my strong suit. But if y'all have any suggestions, feel free to let me know, and if I decide to use some of those ideas, I'll be sure to give you a shoutout.

And now the RWBY characters have their own place. I made this decision simply because I wanted them to stand out on their own more. After all, the team could take down a lot of the mid threat level villains on their own without the Avengers. Plus, I don't think the Avengers would let a bunch of alien kids stay at their mansion indefinitely. But with Remnant HQ online, it gives the RWBY characters a place to stay at and plan missions from...while also giving me an opportunity to throw in another reference to another popular Rooster Teeth show, which I'm sure you all caught pretty quickly.

One final note to add: because the villain has yet to be revealed (and when he is, that will pretty much give you all a good guess as to what's to come), I'm not going to announce the name of this arc just yet. But I can tell you right now it's probbably my favorite name yet.

But anywho, that's all from me. Until next time, this is Guest 1138, signing off.
