Finally, with a massive burst of light, the Inversion implodes, and the energy disperses.

The skies above Tokyo clear as the storm of energy dissipates. The ground stops trembling, and the swirling chaos is gone. All that remains is a faint shimmer of golden light hovering in the sky.

The heroes stare up in awe as Sonic, now in his new transformation, floats in the sky. His pale gold fur flickers with energy, and the seven Chaos Emeralds hover around him in a circle. In his hand, he holds the Silver Crystal, its radiant light shimmering in his grip.

Sonic's eyes — once red — are now piercing blue, but they are filled with pain. His face is twisted in agony, and the energy inside him is tearing him apart. But he doesn't falter. Slowly, Sonic lowers his hand and releases the Silver Crystal, sending it toward its rightful owner.

The Silver Crystal floats gently through the air, hovering over Usagi's body. Its light engulfs her, and the heroes watch in disbelief as Usagi's wounds are healed. The Crystal merges with her heart, re-forming as the core of her Cosmic Heart Compact before resting on her chest.

Her transformation gone, Usagi suddenly takes a deep breath, her eyes fluttering open as she returns to life.

* Sally: (screaming in joy) "USAGI!"

Sally rushes forward, hugging Usagi fiercely, her tears flowing freely. The rest of the heroes celebrate as well, overjoyed to see their friend brought back from the dead. But in the midst of their joy, Ami's eyes never leave Sonic.

Something is wrong.

As the heroes celebrate, Sonic's body trembles in the sky. The combined power of the Chaos Emeralds and the Silver Crystal, along with the energy of the Inversion, is now inside him — and it's destroying him from the inside out.

Sonic's blue eyes are filled with pain as he looks down at the others, his body barely able to contain the energy. With the last of his strength, he sends the seven Chaos Emeralds flying in every direction, scattering them across the world. The energy that once swirled around him fades, and his transformation gives out.

Sonic's body goes limp, and he begins to fall.

*Ami: (screaming, tears streaming down her face) "NO! SONIC!"

She runs faster than she ever has before, her heart pounding as she races toward the spot where Sonic is falling. The others follow, with Jupiter carrying Usagi, but Ami is far ahead of them, her desperation giving her speed.

Finally, Ami reaches the crash site. Her heart stops as she sees him — Sonic the Hedgehog, lying motionless on the ground. His once-vibrant body is still, his fur darkened, and his eyes closed.

Ami drops to her knees beside him, her entire body trembling as she reaches out to touch him. Her worst fears are confirmed. Sonic is dead.
