In a magical world that is called Earthland lies a kingdom and country known as Fiore. In this land, magic is quite abundant. You can find it just about everywhere, and many are capable of using magic. They are called wizards, and many wizards make a living by joining guilds. Guilds are places for wizards to find work and share their talents with the world. There are many different kinds of guilds, and many different kinds of jobs. Some jobs are dangerous, but there are those that are willing to take the challenge. Many are familiar with one known as Fairy Tail, but this story follows another guild. A guild that never backs down from a challenge and aims to rise. This is the story of a guild known as Phoenix Flame.

Our story begins in a small city called Bell Town. At Bell is the home of a wealthy man that has invited many people for one of those fancy parties. At this particular party, there was one certain individual. She was a young lady, about the age of seventeen. She wore an elegant white dress with wavy big dark brown hair and wore a small bracelet on her wrist with it having three charms. She just gazed out a window and stared off at the great world that was around her.

"Excuse me, young lady." She turned and was met with the very owner of this place with him dressed in a fancy suit and had brown hair tied back with him a thin mustache. "I do hope you are enjoying the party. I certainly wouldn't want you to be bored and miserable with you being among the young crowd."

"Thank you for your hospitality. I'm doing quite well, and this is certainly a lovely home you have here." The lady said.

"Thank you, but may I ask who invited you, Miss...?" He said as he didn't know her name.

"You may just call me Mary. As for who invited me, it was a kind gentleman. He asked me to be his plus one for this. You're Mr. Arnold Vaches, right?"

"Indeed, I am, but how old are you if I may ask?" Arnold aske.

"Now don't go getting any naughty ideas. I'm a little young for you. Besides, you should never ask a lady her age." Mary said. "I would love to stay and chat, but I should really go find my date. I hate to have been stood up."

"Yes, of course." Arnold said as he allowed her to go. "Seems like a charming young lady, but I do wonder who might have invited her." Mary excused herself from the party and was now on her own with her roaming around the place, but that was exactly what she wanted.

"Now, let's see what kind of goods this guy really has." Mary said as she took off. She searched around the house until she found a room that had expensive gems and jewelry in it. "Perfect." Once she found what she was looking for, she dropped the act and made her move. She even changed her clothes that would be easier for a getaway. She was now wearing a forest green shirt with a beige skirt and black thigh-high boots. Once she changed her clothes, she took a bag and started filling a bag with whatever she could. "I doubt that rich dope will even notice some of these are missing."

"Stop! What are you doing?!" Mary turned around and found a couple security guys at the door.

"So much for keeping a low profile." Mary complained. After a moment, people heard some sort of explosion went off. It even blew off a piece of the wall. Mary used the chance to jump down from that opening and made a run for it.

"Alert the guards! We have a thief!" Mary took what she had and ran straight to town, unaware that she will have an encounter that will change her life.

...

Downtown

Bell Town was a rather peaceful place, at least before what happened back at the mansion. Inside this town were two travelers walking through it.

"Hey, Maru. I'm getting a little tired. Are we going to stop soon?" Surprisingly, the one that talked was a cat walking on two legs. It had sandy brown fur with a white tipped tail and a dark brown spot around his left eye. The top of his fur a little ruffled with him also wearing a red shirt.

"That sounds like a good idea, Sandy. We can stop here for a while and head home in the morning." The other one was human, about seventeen. He had messy brown hair. He wore a white shirt that had a yellow cross over it with brown shorts and regular brown boots. He also wore a silver pentagonal pendent with a chain around his neck and had a topaz like piece covering the bottom. "So, what do you in the mood for to eat?"

"Maybe some nice pasta, pizza, or maybe we could skip straight to cake and..." Sandy was listing the things like to eat, but that was when the encountered happened. Mary came running out of nowhere and knocked right into Maru. The collision was so hard that they knocked each other down.

"Ow! Watch where you're going!" Mary complained.

"Me? You were the one that ran into me." Maru said. "Are you okay? What are you running for?" Mary tried to think of what to say, but that was when she heard the people chasing after her getting close. Thinking fast, she grabbed a hold of Maru and ducked in an alleyway.

"Hey! What do you think you're doing?!" Sandy called and chased after them. Mary kept them both hidden and waited until she saw the guys chasing after her pass by. They ran right by the alleyway and didn't even seem to notice them at all.

"Looks like they're gone." Mary said.

"What's up? Were those guys are you?" Maru asked.

"Careful, Maru. I think she's one of those easy girls that can be real trouble." Sandy said. "She did pull you into an alleyway, maybe to do something publicly inappropriate."

"No, I didn't! I just didn't want you to tell those guys where I was!" Mary said in annoyance. "Hold on! You're a cat and you can talk?!" She found this to be very weird, but she then noticed the pendent and saw how rather fancy it looked and thought this guy had some money on him. "Ooh... This looks like a nice piece." She said as she brushed her fingers against it, but Maru pushed her hand away.

"I appreciate it if you don't touch that. This pendent means a lot to me." Maru said. "Anyway, if you're okay, I think we should go." Him and Sandy were about to leave, but Mary wasn't going to let him go so easily.

"Wait a minute." Mary said as she tried to use her feminine charm on him. "You're not just going to leave me all alone, are you? Not with those guys chasing poor me." She said as she tried to seem sexy to him.

...

A Restaurant

Mary's charm didn't exactly work on Maru, but he did figure that she was someone in need of help if she was being chased. All three of them hit a restaurant and tried to get something to eat.

"So, your names are Maru and Sandy, and you're not even from here?" Mary said.

"That's right. We're just passing through on our way to Amaryllis, where we really live." Maru said. "Anyway, what was that all about back there? Why were those guys after you?"

"It's nothing. I just made a few guys mad." Mary said. 'This works perfectly for me. If they catch me again, I can just pin it all on these guys and have them take care of it.' She thought. As they just sat there and ate, Maru noticed the charms she was wearing. They were just simple small spherical crystals with a gold ring for the string to go through. Each crystal was red, sky blue, and brown with the symbols for Mars, Mercury, and Earth in them.

"Those are some lovely charms you have. I've never seen anything like them." Maru said.

"These?" Mary said as she held out her hand. "Yeah. I may not look like it, but I'm actually a wizard and these are part of the magic I use. It's called olympus magic."

"Olympus magic?" Sandy questioned.

"I've never heard of it." Maru said.

"It's pretty similar to celestial magic." Mary said. "These charms allow me to call on magical beings that are called olympians and they help me out. It's not surprising you never heard of it because this is a rare form of magic. Hardly anyone can use it anymore because there are only a few charms left in the whole world, and I'm lucky enough to have three. These three represent Mars, Mercury, and Earth."

"Seriously? That does sound similar to celestial magic." Maru said.

"You think you can show us?" Sandy questioned.

"Sorry, but I don't put on a show for someone unless you make it worth my while." Mary claimed. "So, since you boys are heading out of town, how about I just tag along? I wasn't going to stick around in town anyway."

"What do you think?" Maru asked Sandy. "It might have to mean we have to camp since we wouldn't be able to get back until tomorrow, but if she has plans, we can't ask her to put it on hold for us."

"I think I rather get home as soon as possible, so I guess it wouldn't be so bad." Sandy said.

"Okay." Maru said as he left some money for the food. "We can head out now if you really want to."

"Great." Mary said. 'This is perfect. I've got my own body guard, human shield, and I'm now I'm making a clean getaway. Those morons are never going to catch me now.' She thought as it seems like her scheme went perfect. All of them were on their way out, but then Maru took notice of the bag she was holding without knowing what was really in it.

"Hold on a minute. What's in that bag you're carrying?" Maru asked. "Do you need a hand with it?"

"This? No, but I'll be sure to let you know if I do." Mary claimed, but that will be for when she passes the crime off him. She didn't get the chance as she felt a rope came around her. "What the hell?!" She suddenly felt herself being pulled right into a carriage with it taking off.

"What the heck?!" Maru said. "What was that?!"

"I knew that girl was bringing trouble with her!" Sandy called. Those two have no idea what might be going on, but as far as their concerned, Mary needs some help.

...

Mary

Mary was kidnapped by the very people she robbed from. She was brought back to the mansion with her arms tied behind her back and Arnold had his gems back. He also seemed less than satisfied.

"Tisk, tisk..." Arnold said. "I should have known you weren't really invited to my party, but I had faith because you were young and I thought you were innocent. My mistake."

"Okay, let's talk this over." Mary said as she tried to think of some way to weasel out of this. "I'm sure we can come up with some sort of solution."

"I can think of a few." Arnold said. He snapped his fingers and allowed his men to grab her and seemed ready to have their way with her.

"Not quite what I meant. Besides, wouldn't you rather have some enjoyment yourself?" Mary said.

"Hey, boss! Check out what's around his wrist." One of his men said. "She's got some pretty jewels here. You think we should keep these?"

"Don't bother. These are magic items, and they're only useful to me." Mary said.

"Be that as it may, you need to be punished for stealing. You should know better, but I don't really want law enforcement coming here and making a spectacle of this whole thing." Arnold said. It seemed like he was going to turn a blind eye and let his men have their way with her. Mary was shoved down to the ground and it seemed like she was in real trouble here. She wouldn't be able to get out of this one, but then she was saved. Maru showed up just in time and knocked away all of the goons that were holding her down.

"You okay?" Maru said.

"You made it!" Mary said as she didn't expect him to come for her. Once Maru got her untied, he helped her stand back up. "How did you even get here? How did you know where to find me?"

"It's easy with a bird's eye view, or I should say a cat." Maru said as he looked up.

"Hey! You okay?!" Sandy said as he showed he actually had wings and could fly.

"Sandy! You can fly?!" Mary said as she couldn't believe it.

"Of course because I'm not a normal cat. I'm called an Exceed." Sandy claimed.

"Yeah, I could tell you're not a normal cat because you can talk." Mary argued.

"These must be friends of hers. Get rid of them." Arnold said.

"I've got this guy!" One of Arnold's guys tried attacking with a wooden bat, but Maru easily knocked him away. When he moved his right arm, Arnold noticed something under Maru's sleeve.

"Wait. Is that a guild emblem on your arm?" Arnold questioned.

"That's right." Maru said as he showed the yellow emblem of a flame with a bird in it on his right shoulder. "My name is Maru. I'm a member of the Phoenix Flame wizard guild."

"You're a wizard?!" Mary said as she was surprised to know about that.

"Phoenix Flame? Is that a legal guild?" Arnold questioned. "Then, you should be interested to know you're aiding a criminal. That girl stole from me, Arnold Vaches."

"What?! She did?! That's why they were after you?!" Sandy said. "I knew you were trouble."

"Now, just give me a minute to explain." Mary said, but had nothing.

"Wait. Arnold Vaches?" Maru questioned.

"Yes." Arnold confirm, but Maru found that a little strange.

"Can't be a coincidence. Rearrange the letters in that name and you get Ronald Sechav." Maru claimed with the man standing before him getting a little nervous. "I've heard that he's a wanted criminal known for many embezzlement cases and stealing many valuable items, but many never saw his face. That would explain why you don't law enforcement snooping around your place. You're more of a criminal than she is."

"Boss, I think we're busted."

"Shut up, you idiot!" Arnold, or rather Ronald, claimed. Looks like Maru hit the nail on the head. "Now we can't let them leave. Get rid of them!"

"Sandy, get Mary back." Maru said. Sandy dove down and scooped Mary off the ground.

"Wait. What about him?" Mary said.

"Don't worry about Maru." Sandy assured. Some of the guys were coming right at Maru, but he didn't even flinch. What he did do is gather light right into his fist.

"Divine Hammer!" Maru coated his fist in light and smashed it right against one of the goons and sent them flying right into the mansion with incredible force. Many couldn't believe he had such strength. "I'm not done yet!" He called as he unleashes blasts of yellow light at all of them and fought them.

"No way! He can use light magic?!" Mary said.

"That's right." Sandy said. "Maru is a proud member of Phoenix Flame, and a Phoenix Flame wizard can handle themselves." Sandy was right as Maru was able to fight off each one of them. "Hey, aren't you going to help? It is your fault this is going on."

"I might as well." Mary said. She held out her arm with the red charm glowing. "Come forth, the one who rages with war! Mars!" Her magic created a bright light and summoned a brand new being. It was a man with short blonde hair in armor with a purple cape.

"Wow! That's what your magic does?!" Sandy said as that was incredible.

"Okay, Mars, give these guys a good thrashing!" Mary ordered, but mars just scowled at her. "What's with the attitude?"

"Because I have to put up with your nonsense again." Mars complained. "Unless you want to get burned, stand back. Then again, I don't care if you get caught in the fire."

"Huh?! Fire?!" Sandy said.

"He never really liked anyone. You might want to fly back." Mary warned. Mars pulled out a sword and ignited it in flames. Once that happened, he smashed it against the ground and it was like a wave of flames flowed over the place with many of Ronald's men getting taken out.

"There. I'm out of here." Mars said and just disappeared and went back to wherever he came from.

"He's got an attitude." Sandy said.

"Tell me about it." Mary said with annoyance.

"This can't be..." Ronald said. "How did these brats do this?" He didn't make sense of the situation, but it got worse with Maru walking through the flames. "Stay away from me!"

"I don't think so. You're rotten and it's time for you to face what you did." Maru said as he gathered light for one more attack. He smashed his fist against Ronald as hard as he could and took him down in one strike.

"Wow. This guy has some power." Mary said as she was impressed. "She took them all down like it was nothing."

"That's what Phoenix Flame is all about." Sandy said. Whatever kind of guild this Phoenix Flame is, it shows promise.

...

Later

"Here you go." Maru said as he tossed Mary's bag over to the local authorities. After that fiasco, the law known as the Rune Knights that serve the Magic Council arrived. Maru straightened the whole thing out and turned everything in.

"Hey! That was mine!" Mary claimed.

"Yeah that you stole. You're lucky this guy is a bigger criminal and I'm not turning you in." Maru said.

"Is it stealing since he's a criminal?" Mary argued.

"You were going to keep it for yourself, so yes." Sandy claimed.

"So, you two are really from a guild?" Mary questioned.

"That's right. We were on our way back from a job when we got caught up in this." Maru said. "Can I ask why you stole from this guy in the first place?"

"I just needed some money. Mind your own business." Mary argued.

"Is that so? Well, your magic did look rather impressive." Maru said. "If you need money, how about you join a guild?"

"Join a stupid guild? I don't think so." Mary said.

"Have you even been to a guild before?" Maru said.

"Well... No..." Mary said.

"Well, it might be better for you than the alternative. Maybe you should come check ours out." Maru invited.

"You're really inviting her?" Sandy said. "I knew you were trouble."

"Come on. Maybe if you check it out, and need money, this will help." Maru said. "You can't be all that bad." Mary didn't have any interest in a guild, but these two did help her when they didn't have to.

"Fine. Let's go see Phoenix Flame." Mary said as she accepted and started a brand new chapter in her life. This here is only the beginning.
