"Oh my gods, Percy, stop smiling and just text him already," Annabeth groans when he starts waxing poetry again about the guy he met at the pride parade who was cosplaying Luke Skywalker.

Percy brightens up. "That's a wonderful idea, Beth, why didn't you speak up earlier?!"

Annabeth audibly grinds her teeth and he laughs hastily. "I'll go do just that!"

He goes to contacts on his phone, grinning again when 'Luke [4 blue hearts]' appears in the favorites section, and sets about typing a message.

Percy
hey
remember that day when we met at the pride parade and talked for like, two hours?
yeah, im percy
you stole something from me that day…

He smiles like an idiot as he types the next message.

● you stole my heart… | 》Send

He's just about to send it when he sees, Luke [4 blue hearts] is typing…

Ping!

Luke💙💙💙💙
Hey, Percy, sorry I stole your wallet, I'll return it.

Percy stares at the message in shock, before checking his pocket. His wallet is right there!

He backspaces rapidly, fingers flying to form the words 'um, no you didnt, i have my wallet right here,' and changes his mind and instead tries 'you mustve mistaken me for someone else,' and realises that that sounds like he's accusing him of actually being a thief and quickly backspaces again.

He decides on 'haha, was it autocorrect? I have my wallet right here,' and is just about to send it when it occurs to him that he might never get to meet Luke if he doesn't take this chance.

He backspaces again before quickly typing out a response and pressing Send before he can second-guess himself.

Percy
yeah, you better. hyde park, tomorrow, 5 pm?

He waits anxiously for a response, knowing that Luke must know that he never stole Percy's wallet or maybe hedidsteal someone's wallet and mistook Percy for them, or—

Luke💙💙💙💙
…sure.
See u there ;]

The smirk-face makes him blush, successfully distracting him from the guilt before he goes back to the living room to show Annabeth their conversation.

"Green or blue, quick!"

"Percy, it doesn't fucking matter, he's the one supposed to dress nicely seeing as he supposedly stole your wallet! You can go dressed in a sack and no one would care!"

"But I want to look nice," Percy protests. "And he didn't steal my wallet!"

"Whatever," she replies. "Go with that midnight blue, though, it contrasts your eyes."

"You'll do great," Grover tells him as he hurries out of the house, almost late.

"Thanks, G-Man," Percy yells over his shoulder as he quickly flags down a taxi that's luckily coming his way but is unluckily not empty. The passenger, whoever they are, flips him off and he yells after them indignantly.

In the end, it takes another five minutes to get a ride, and it's not even a taxi. Seeing a car in the near distance, he accidentally flags down a private car but as it stops, he mentally shrugs and goes to talk to the person sliding down the window.

"Um, hi, I'm really sorry but I thought this was a taxi so I flagged you down accidentally," he says apologetically.

"That's fine," the man — boy, really — says. "Jules and I were just going for a joy ride. Where did you want to go?"

Percy stares in disbelief. "You would just invite a stranger into your car? Just like that?"

"I never said I'd take you there," the boy replies. "I just asked where you wanted to go."

"Well," Percy fumbles, "Hyde Park… Oh, I'm Percy."

The boy takes his hand. "I'm Nico and this is my chauffeur, Jules-Albert. He's French."

"Nice," Percy replies. "Au revoir…?"

"Get in," Nico says, lips twitching. "We'll get you to Hyde Park."

He gets in and Annabeth and Grover wave to him and he waves back.

Once the car picks up speed, Nico says, "So you'd just get into a stranger's car? Just like that?"

Percy's blood runs cold as his eyes widen, but Nico just laughs.

"Don't worry. I don't murder random people."

"What about non-random people?" Percy's mouth says, and he immediately wishes he duct-taped it shut before he left the house.

Nico laughs. "Hyde Park," he tells his chauffeur.

"Could you go as fast as you can, please?" Percy asks Jules-Albert. "I'm going to be late."

The driver does drive very fast, but gets them all to Hyde Park in one piece and at 4:57 pm, so who is he to complain, really?

To his surprise, Nico also gets out once they've parked, and Percy jokes, "Are you actually gonna kill me?"

Nico smiles. "Coincidentally, I was also heading here, to meet my boyfriend."

He frowns. "I thought you said you were going for a joy ride?"

"I don't just tell strangers that I'm going to meet my boyfriend, Percy."

"Nico!" someone calls, and human-shaped sunshine barrels into the human-shaped darkness, who laughs in delight.

"That the boyfriend?" Percy grins.

Sunshine pulls away, beaming. "You actually called me your boyfriend?"

Nico rolls his eyes and Percy's watch beeps to indicate 5 o'clock.

"Fuck, I'm late," he says. "See you later, Sunshine." And he takes off in a run and into the Park.

After about three minutes, he sees blond hair again and walks faster, peering to get a closer look. He doesn't want to hug another stranger from behind, screaming, "Luke!" Once was embarrassing enough, but 'Jason' just grinned and let him go, thankfully.

This time, it really is Luke, and he grins, yelling, "Luke!" again.

Luke turns his head and smiles widely when he sees Percy waving madly.

"Percy," he smirks. "My dear victim…"

He blushes. "Listen, I know you know that you didn't steal my wallet, I have my wallet with me, but I didn't know if you'd be willing to meet me otherwise, so I—"

Luke kisses him shut. "I gave you my number and my social media, what did you think?"

He laughs wonderously. "Wow… I've… I've been imagining that kiss for a while…"

And there was that smirk. "Well, now you needn't imagine it."

Later, when they're walking back to the street, he asks, "Why did you say you stole my wallet?"

His boyfriend—boyfriend—gives him a crooked smile. "I did steal your wallet, my dear. You turned around and saw me, though, and after we talked for a while, I slipped it back into your pocket without you noticing because I liked you too much."

And honestly, after that revelation, no one can blame him for lunging at the would-be thief and kissing him senseless.

Notes:

Will: *delighted* you told him you call me sunshine?
Nico: no
Nico: everyone who sees you automatically thinks 'human-shaped sunshine'
