Many years had gone by since the Blue Night. The night that Satan himself engulfed clergy men in blue flames, killing many in the process. I never imagined that things would turn out the way that they did, and yet here I am still standing. I remember the warmth of the flames that surrounded me, caressing every part of this body of mine.
I was placed under a contract after that day and sent away to a mundane life, wondering if things would ever go back to the way they once were. No one can know, no one can see, no one must ever learn and speak. Those were the parameters of the contract that bound me in exchange for the life I have now. "Don't you worry, I'll find you when the time is right" were the last words he said to me.
In those years I worked alongside exorcists of the Knights of the True Cross order who fought demons for the good of humanity. Life was only as exciting as it could be beyond the walls that confined me. For the last sixteen years, I acted as a medical servant, treating victims of demonic attacks and exorcists injured on missions. I was only pulled out into the field when things got messy. I was growing dreary of the life I was living, and I wanted more out of it. My training was so much more than playing Doctor.
One day, while in my office treating a patient, I felt something in the air change.
"Are you ok?", they peered up at me with concern in their eyes.
"I'm not sure. You can't sense that?" I questioned, my eyes darting around the room behind my glasses.
"I can only feel the sting of your grip on my arm."
Realizing I was digging my nails slightly into his arm, I came back to focus on the care of the exorcist.
Throughout the day, I couldn't shake the weird feeling that was coming to me. It wasn't good, nor was it bad. It was strange, almost as if some aura was waking up. That night, I lay awake in my bed trying to make out what was going on.
After days had gone by, the feeling lessened and became more normal to my everyday life. However, I still couldn't help but wonder what was going on. None of the other exorcists seem to have been affected by the strangeness that was in the air, but it was apparent that certain demons were picking up on it. The activity of lesser demons started to grow more prominent, which meant more and more civilians needed to be treated. My workload began to grow in the next coming weeks as I was brought to various churches and treated those looking for answers from above. More exorcists were needed out in the field, which meant I assisted with various classes within our branch. Pharmaceuticals, arias, seals, history, combat, I knew how to do it all. But I was kept under strict guidelines to follow now. When off duty as a doctor I specialized primarily with tamers working with their familiars.
I was under the impression that things were never going to be the same before the Blue Night. The desire that I felt inside of me kept the fire from burning out, but the collar wrapped tightly around my neck was what prevented me from igniting. I'm afraid that one of these days I'm going to screw up and lose everything. I need to keep myself together and focus on what I'm being told.
I was in my office reviewing some old documents I had lying around when I heard the door behind me click open. Four individuals wearing the black long trench coat uniforms of the order walked it. Each one of them proudly wearing their silver needle heart with blue and red patterns that formed a silver cross within the heart. Judging by the way they stood; I could figure out that they were either Tamers or Arias
One of them steps forward to address me, "Knight Amy of the Northern branch, we are here to escort you to the Japan branch."
"Escort…wait hold on," I began to say taking my glasses off, furrowing my brow and pinching my nose in disbelief. "You're telling me that you're using an Infinity key to open my office door, to collect me and escort me through said door, into the Japan branch just like that?"
"Well…uh…not…"
"What, demon got your tongue? Spit it out, come on now. Under what pretenses do you have to pull me from my work, through that door, and into a completely different branch?"
"We…" the gentleman became flustered by my tonality and turned to the others for assistance.
One stepped in front of him to continue, "You see, we received orders from the higher ups to escort you from this branch to the Japan branch. We're not exactly sure what's going on, but whatever it is, the director has requested for you to specifically teach new exorcists at this branch."
"T…teach!? Wait…hold the phone, my lord specifically requested for me?"
The four exchanged glances with one another for confirmations before the one continued, "Yes ma'am. Lord Pheles specifically asked for you to teach. To our understanding, he has already put in the word to have your belongings transported to a new place within the branch. He said something about the stars igniting with new possibilities?"
"Well, I guess I have no time to lose," I said with a smirk on my face. I stood up from my chair and collected a few important things from the office before grouping with the escort team. "Well boys, must not waste too much more time."
We proceeded to walk through the door and entered a place I never thought I'd return to.
