Epilogue Arc: The Ones Without Kingdoms

It was a simple house on a hill, far away from the other kingdoms. It had been sixty years since the war and this house had been built ten years after. The simple build was of wood, some brick, and it had about four rooms. Around the house was a simple farm and some trees growing some sort of fruit. Animals wandered around, but didn't bother to attack anyone or the building at all.

Walking in this house was an older man, his hair long and held up only by a ponytail. He wore the most basic of fabric clothing. Looking by all means a commoner, the man's gaze could not have been any different. He opened the door without needing to lock it and approached what looked to be a rocking chair. Sitting in the rocking chair and holding a small child, was a similar feeling woman. The room itself was simple, clean, but no fancy baubles.

"Are you already exhausted again?" The woman nodded once as she lifted her gaze. "I thought the Lotis left in you would make you inevitably immortal."

"That's a lie." The woman chuckled as she started to stand up, holding out the child for him to pick up. The two headed towards one of the rooms and carefully placed the child on a sturdy, but practical bed. "What little Lotis I have left is going to go away even faster as we get older, Frei."

"Not many of the originals left." Frei's body carefully held Alice's body gently. The two of them after a long time of going around had settled where the original tree was. "Yet you're writing stories that'll feel like it's not a real thing anymore."

"It's inevitable," she held him back just as carefully. "We're not young and the children we have had are gone out in the world."

"Two children," Frei commented, a little annoyed. "I wanted more, you know."

"Yes, and both married into royalty or nobility after some time." She slowly let go and headed towards the kitchen. Using a normal fire and a normal water from the well. "We did a lot of things together. Even some things you wanted to do."

"So how long do you think we have left?"

"It's not as if the others are fully dead, but..." Her smile seemed to go away. "I don't know if my body can take it anymore. Before, it was fine, but now..." Her hand shook a little. The woman's somewhat graying hair made her look like Lotsuan more than ever.

"It doesn't matter." Frei's hand gently touched hers. Every so often, a part of her was wary of being forgotten. Perhaps that she hadn't done enough. "We'll make way if we have to. Just like we did to Mayura."

"Yes," she started to relax again. "Perhaps it is because I am older and I sort of feel like what's left inside me."

"No one would blame you for that."

"There must be more I can do."

"We've done a lot for them already." Frei's hand tightened a little. "No matter what you want Alice, you'll have it. I don't plan on leaving you before and if that happens, I will make sure they come." He was confident, strong, a thing that had been harder to see before the events of the war. "I made you a promise and I'm keeping it."

An event that no one had thought of happened on a hill where only two older former royals lived. They could have always gone back, but they chose to never use their titles for such things. It was surrounded by fancy tents and various well dressed people, but the event was not for a happy event.

It was said that the funeral was for a simple couple who had fought hard in the war. Descendants of the kingdoms arrived with the few royals that remained alive from the war. The children were curious who the two were. They were so sought after and yet they had lived in relative normalcy after a long time.

Frei and Alice had died in their sleep, peacefully at an old age. In their wake, Alice had created and tried to figure out new systems for things Lotis had long been the standard for. Frei had helped while making his own new innovations. Yet, the two were happy to just go around not doing anything more. Books of amazing potential were made and a story had been written. Yet, at the end of their lives, they simply wanted to be together. Perhaps it was the last of Alice's Lotis that had willed what she truly wanted.

She was never truly alone and Frei hadn't broke his promise. And yes, they did help save the world somehow.

The End

Note: Okay, well... this is the end. Took me a lot of rewrites, but I got to it. If people got here and and enjoy it, thank you. If people got her and don't, well... It's writing. Not all writing is going to be liked. Still, the fact I managed it is an achievement.
