The Roland Kingdom Arc: The Mask of Lies
Alice simply seemed to remove Kayna's piece without saying a word. The Guardian understood far better than the others as she did. The room was simply quiet as she looked at a few that had come in for orders. Kayna's death had felt almost inevitable once she lost Eric. Not that the Guardian cared for that sort of situation.
"Has only Kyo come in?"
"Yes," simply answered as she noted the woman's gaze. "Frei is close, but has not come in."
"It seems rather simple to see where this is going." She noted as she stood up to leave. "I will be in the throne room."
The two took a long quiet walk as the masked figure wondered many things. Why had Kayna allowed Kyo to kill her? It would have been simple to overpower the person she took care of. Yet… Perhaps it was as simple as the concept of caring about him? Lotsuan had cared for Neyozeka as he had. Yet, he had not moved to protect her when the attack happened. It was as if having power meant nothing.
"Love is a weakness to some." Alice spoke as she kept her back to the Guardian. She approached the throne, sitting down on it carefully. "The word itself means a desire to devote oneself in some way. It can be a love of anything, even to a simple god. Even if it means loving oneself." She seemed to lean back slowly. It was quiet for a long while again.
The castle had been cut off from any access except by those actually allowed in. Even with a mark, it didn't mean one could just walk in physically. As the Guardian made way out into the battlefield, protected by the power it always had access to, it stopped. Kyo Wakamiya was currently wandering the city. Not that it mattered what he did to try and access. When Alice truly went out into a fight, there would be no question on her choice.
It allowed the young man, currently driven by his probably emotional cause, to pass through. It moved out into the battlefield as to look over the progress. Alice had been correct on how unbalanced the fight was. Even with the Weilhausen army helping, it could tell… There was no way to recover the power any of the kingdoms once had. For a moment, it saw Frei's gaze trying to find something. He was close to getting in. Soon he would have to go with Kyo to the true fight of their lives.
Samuel was somehow wandering around, yet not found. He looked more lost than before. Perhaps, in a way, Eric had driven his motivation too much. The Guardian stopped and looked over the deceptive appearance of his young face. Much like Kayna, his age was something of a debate. Kayna may have been more of her current age, but… Samuel was a mystery in his own way.
"He isn't dead..." The blonde stared deep into the distance. "He promised me that there would be a family. Just the five of us..." His eyes did not cry, but she could feel some sort of Shini overtaking his decisions. The word resonated all around him as he turned to look and move again.
"If I had love, would I be like that young girl?" Lotsuan's gaze was calm, but conflicted. She could tell he was weakening in some fashion. Someone must be using it to their advantage.
"Do you not have Mano, master?"
"I can have the word, yet not have the meaning, Guardian." Lotsuan's hand was lightly stroking the young girl's head as she slept. "I have no one to give it to."
"You give it to us all, Master."
"Is that truly enough?" His eyes seemed more weary, a tired hand slowly lifting. "Darva has such strong hatred, yet I… is my love strong enough?" He lowered his hand a little, coughing as what seemed to be a substance came out. "I do not even know if I have enough time."
"Samuel," The guardian's voice was softer as the figure turned, not seeming to click what was going on was reality at the moment. "If you truly wish to find Eric's legacy, you should fight the one he was so close to first."
"Will that bring him to me?" His gaze would have probably made someone like Alice hurt a bit. Still, for the Guardian, it was a simple reality. Things changed over time and even when there was a desire to change… There was no reason for it to exist outside of the power.
"It will bring you closer to something that you desire. Whether that be a true resurrection or an end to your journey."
"Is it really going to be over?"
"It is over for Eric. It was over for Kayna as well."
"And yours?" The Guardian felt blank at the insinuation. What sort of journey did they of all objects need? "What will you do if you disappear without trying?" Speechless, the masked figure watched the young boy continue moving in his direction. Something just felt wrong. Like the Guardian had forgotten something…
