Kwon Shepard moaned as she opened her eyes only for a bright light to shine down on her. Groaning and turning away, she curled back up. Her body hurt bad, really bad like never before. All of her nerves screamed as if they were on fire while her insides felt like they were being twisted from the inside out. Her consciousness faded in and out as she tried to regain control over her body.

"Fight the pain, fight the pain," she growled as she lay there for an unknown amount of time.

Iroh walked into the forest, sure that there was something wrong. He felt something in the winds of the spirit realm and moved to see what was going on. Maybe Korra was back? Maybe someone else had entered, he wasn't sure. What he was sure was that someone needed his help now. Raising his lantern high, he moved though the dark forest carefully and calmly. As he walked ad odd sense of silence filled the air with a sense of trepidation.

Normally the spirt world was filled with varying emotions and sounds, but now it was unnaturally quiet. That didn't sit well with him, but he moved in deeper into the forest. Doing so only increased the uneasy feeling inside of him paired with a sense of dread. Something told him to turn away, but he continued on until he found a clearing where a young woman lay curled up holding herself.

"Now what do we have here?" he asked in a curious tone as he walked up to her.

The woman looked like she had been though 100 years of hell. While she lacked any kind of clothing, her body was covered in scars. It was almost as if she had been pulled apart and put back together many times. Iroh pitted her and wondered what kind of horrors she had seen as he got down to pick her up. While doing she moaned and opened an eye, looking up at him with a brilliant green eye.

The look told him all he needed to know before it closed and he picked her up. She was a little heavy, but nothing that he couldn't handle as he turned and headed back to his tea shop.

OOOOO

Korra groaned as she felt her body burn on the inside and out. "Owww…." she moaned as she sat up holding her head and opened her eyes.

While blurry she could see that she was in some kind of room. White and black with some orange highlights. Unable to focus she lay back down while a voice spoke. She couldn't make it out, but it sounded motherly, helpful. Korra fell asleep blissfully dreaming about her and Asami on a beach, hands entwined as the two watched a sunrise together. They looked into each other's eyes before leaning in for a kiss.

Opening her eyes again, she looked into a light shining down on her. While her vision still blurry, her body felt somewhat normal. No pain, just numb. Groaning as she blinked the blurriness away, she realised that she was looking up at a metal roof with a bright light shining down on her. Frowning, she sat up looking around and saw strange equipment. Nothing she had seen before in Republic city or beyond.

Everything was a metallic white and black with orange lines. Looking at herself, she found that she lacked her WaterTribe blues and instead wore a simple black sport's bar and a sheet coving the rest of her body. She still felt sore, but pulled herself off of the bed and stood on the metal floor with ease. Feeling a little wobbly, she grabbed onto a stand next to her for some support. Once she felt stable, she took a few steps before looking around.

Two doors sat at either end of the room. While they didn't have any handles, it did seem that they could open or be opened somehow. Looking to one door she walked towards it. But as she got close a voice called out.

"The door is currently sealed," a voice said. "At this moment you are not allowed to leave,"

Alarmed, Korra looked around but saw no one. The voice sounded like it came from one of Bolin's Movers, but odder. Something felt off about it, like the words weren't being spoken by a human or spirit.

"Who's there?" she called out looking around when a plat next to her extended and a glowing blue orb appeared before her.

She yelped and stepped back looking at the simmering thing. It was almost like a spirit, but something told her it wasn't.

"Hello, I am called EDI," as the thing talked it seemed to pulse or bounce with each word.

Korra blinked. "EDI?" she asked. "What kind of name is that?"

"It is an abbreviation of my full name, Enhanced Defence Intelligence," the thing answered just making Korra blink again.

"None of that that means anything to me," she said as the door opened and a silver haired woman dressed in a white outfit walked in.

Korra and the woman looked at each other for a moment before the woman gave the young WaterTribe girl a friendly smile.

"Well, someone's up and about," she said crossing her arms. "Now, get back on the bed before I have one of the guard chain you to it,"

The two stared at each other, refusing to back own before Korra sighed and claimed back onto the bed. "Happy?" she asked.

"Very," the woman said as she walked up to her. "Now, I'm just going to run a few tests," as she spoke, she pulled out a light and shined it into Korra's eye.

She twitched but let it happen as another woman, this one in a skin tight bodysuit. Unlike the woman before, this one looked pissed as she walked to the two. She reached out to grab Korra but the silver haired woman grabbed her stooping her.

"I know you want answers Miranda, but right now she's my patient," the woman partially growled. "You can question her when I'm finished,"

The raven-haired woman pulled back and stared daggers at the doctor. "Chackwas, I don't think you…." she tried to say but the doctor cut her off.

"I am very well aware about the situation, but until I know this woman is healthy to question, she remains under my care got it? Even you know the regs about medical on a ship," Chackwas shot back.

The two looked at each other before Miranda sighed. "J…just let me know when you are done," she muttered before walking out.

Korra looked between the doctor and the door before speaking up. "What was that all about?"

Chackwas cracked her neck and sighed before she stood up straighter. "Sorry about her, Miranda's been a bit on edge since we lost our commander,"

A realisation dawning on Korra as she looked to the side. "I'm sorry, but I don't know what happened,"

The doctor looked at her with a nod. "Ok, let's start this again. I'm Dr Chackwas of the Normandy,"

Korra smiled. "My name's Korra," she said holding her hand out.

The two shook. "A pleasure Korra," Chackwas as she took Korra's hand and began to feel it and along her arm. "Are you in any pain at all? Different?"

"I feel a little numb," Korra said after a moment moving her body a bit.

"Considering what you were pumped with, and can move a few hours later, that's quite impressive," the Doctor muttered as she picked up a black plate of some kind and did something to it. "Before you ask, you were nude and held yourself in a foetal position screaming in pain. When asked, you said 'everything hurt',"

Korra blinked at the doctor with a mix of fear and shock. "I…I don't remember any of that," she said.

The doctor nodded and wrote it down. "Well, the team who had you filled you with some pain killers before bringing you aboard. To try and help the pain," after doing something with the plate she looked up again. "What was the last thing you remember?"

Korra blinked before taking a deep breath. "Well, the last thing I remember is staring down the barrel of a weapon and telling Kuvira to stop it. She said she couldn't and then there was a flash. I heard some voices before waking up here,"

"Who's Kuvira?" Chakwas asked after a moment.

That made Korra look at her with wide eyes of surprise. "The Leader of the Earth Empire, she attacked the United Republic to gain back the territory she thinks rightfully belongs to them," as Korra talked Chackwas gave her the same look of confusion.

"Earth Empire? United Republic?" she questioned slowly before and idea formed. "Korra, for a moment pretend I don't know anything and explain where you came from," Korra looked at her with a raised brow for a good moment. "Trust me, if it's not the medical thing I'm think of, then we might have an explanation as to what happened,"

Slowly Korra nodded and began to explain.

OOOOO

Kwon groaned as she sat up rubbing her head wondering what she had drank or fell on that gave her such a splitting headache. Letting it clear a bit she looked around, finding herself in a small house of some kind. The place was well decorated with white walls and windows letting light in. A stove was set to one side of the building with a kettle sitting on it steaming gently above a fire. With a grunt and a groan Kwon stood and looked down with a relieved sigh. She wasn't naked as she had first thought, but instead wore a simple shirt that covered her body.

After making a few tests of her legs, she walked out of the room to see that the house was more like a shop. A large section of the building was dedicated to tables and chairs. But no one was in, was the place closed? She made her way to the door at the far end and opened it up. The sight before her took her breath away as she gazed on a land rich in colours and vibrant with life. Taking a deep breath, she smelled the fresh air and let it flow though her lungs.

"Well, hello there," a voice said making her turn and move into a defensive stance.

She blinked as she sat a bald white bearded man sitting on a chair in front of a table. He held a cup of something in his hands but something about him seemed off. Kwon pulled herself up from the stance and walked up to him.

"Impressive stance," he said as he took a sip of the drink. "You are a skilled fighter, yes?"

"I did a few martial arts arenas," Kwon said as she stopped a short distance away from the man. "Underground, life and death stakes,"

"I'm sorry to hear that," the man said. "But to not worry, you are safe here. Please take a seat and enjoy some tea," he indicated to a stone chair next him with another cup on the table.

Kwon was hesitant at first, but nodded and moved over to the seat. She picked up the cup as she said and took a swig. The flavourful liquid poured down her. A sigh escaped her lips as she set it down.

"Oh that feels so good," she said as she took another drink.

"I'm glad to hear it," the man smiled. "It's nice to hear someone enjoying something as simple as tea,"

Kwon nodded and looked to him. "You make a mean brew," she smiled. "Names Commander Kwon Shepard,"

"Name's Iroh," the man smiled. "Commander huh? Which army?"

Kwon blinked. "Systems Alliance, well former. People still call me that," she shrugged.

"I've never heard of the 'Systems Alliance'" Iroh said with a frown. "Is it a new nation? Like the United Republic?"

Kwon looked at him in confusion. "The United Republic? Wait, who is this Republic?"

Iroh blinked for a moment before shrugging. "They are a combination of people and culture, born from the Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kingdom," he paused as he saw the look of pure confusion on her face. "Wait, this is news to you… you aren't from here,"

Kwon tuned to look at the tea then up at the world around her. "Clearly not," she muttered as she leaned back in her chair. "Holy shit, am I dead?"

"No," Iroh shook his head. "I know this because I am dead, I life my body years ago. But you aren't. I don't know why though,"

Kwon blinked at him before looking out at the world again. "What in the hell is going on?" she asked no one in particular.

Iroh looked at her before filling her tea again. "Drink, it will help clam your mind,"

She did so with a satisfied moan and relaxed. A thought came to mind making stand backing away slightly she took a deep breath and readied herself. Iroh watched with interest wondering what she was going to do. Grounding herself, Kwon then raised her hand to grab the cup with her biotics. Instead, what happened the cup burst into flame.

"What the?" she screamed as Iroh acted fast and but the cup out. "H… how? What…?" she muttered.

"Judging by your reaction, you weren't meant to do that," Iroh noted as he looked to her.

"No, I was hoping to bring the cup to me but… well that happened," Kwon muttered looking at her hands. "That was a basic biotic move… I wonder…"

"If you are going to do something else, please do it away from the table," Iroh chided with a smile. "It's not easy to replace stuff here,"

Kwon nodded as she looked to the side and move away from the table and building. Again, she took a breath and readied herself before throwing, what she hoped, was a Shockwave attack. Instead, the ground in front of her cracked in a straight line that moved a few meters.

"What the fuck?" she asked while Iroh just blinked.

"That would not be possible," he said as he stood and walked over to you. "You should not be able to bend all four elements,"

Kwon just looked at him with confusion. "What are you talking about?"

He looked at her with the same confusion. "You do not have bending where you come from?" Kwon shook her head. "Then we may have to share stories and find out what's going on,"

OOOOO

The information Miranda looked at made no sense. The stories about 5 nations, bending elements and sprits just screamed fantasy to hear. But nothing indicated it was. For starters she had no implants, vaccines or any genetic manipulation in her body. Some very basic things that she would have gotten. Something that practically everyone in humanity had, was an implant that did away with glasses. This woman didn't have that, nor did she had any genetic markers to permanent dye her hair that Kwon had.

It was hard to believe, but the information was hard to ignore. With a sigh she turned to Korra as Chackwas finished her examinations.

"So," Miranda said as she walked up. "I think we got off on the wrong foot," she held out her hand. "I'm Miranda Lawson, Executive Officer of the Normandy,"

"Korra," she said as she took Miranda's hand.

That made the XO frown. "No last name?" she asked.

"Not really," Korra shrugged. "It's not a big thing in my culture,"

Miranda nodded but didn't take her eyes off of the woman in front of her, but let it go. "So, how did you get here? I know you talked about it to Chackwas, but I want to hear it from you,"

Korra nodded and leaned back. "I have no idea to be honest. I was facing against Kuvira, a leader, a dictator. She had a weapon that used a vine from the sprit world to create a beam of energy that destroyed multiple buildings in one shot. But something happened with it. The vines consumed the mech that held it. It created a cave around the weapon. Kuvira tried to fire it, but it exploded," she shook he head. "Next thing I know, I woke up here,"

"You didn't see, hear anyone else?" Miranda asked but Korra just shook her head in response. "Damn it," was all she could mutter.

As they talked Chackwas frowned at something on her tablet. "Hold still," she said as she looked up to Korra and felt around the back of her neck.

"What are you doing?" the Waterbender asked.

Chackwas didn't say anything as she felt along the neck and shoulders of the woman before finding what she was looking for. "That's… that's… weird," she muttered.

"What is?" Miranda asked as the doctor checked her tablet again.

"I'm detecting a biotic implant," she said making the two blink.

"Biotics? What?" they asked at the same time.

"I can't explain it," Chackwas said looking up. "Korra, you have a biotic implant at the best of your neck. How it got there, I have no idea but… I think you maybe a biotic,"

"Wait, wait stop…." Korra held her hands up to stop before resting her hand on her head. "What in sprits names are biotics?"

The doctor and XO looked to each other before at Korra. "Well… err… what's the best way to explain this…" Chackwas mused. "You said that you can control items with bending right?"

"Earth bending yeah," Korra nodded.

"Well, biotics are like that but they have more of a diverse range of attacks other than moving," the doctor looked around before pointing. "You see that tablet?" Korra nodded. "Ok, bring it over here,"

Korra frowned but nodded as she raised her hand and began to focus on bringing the item towards her. "Focus on the energy inside of you. You control it, you command it. Manipulates the laws of physics and gravity to your will," Miranda said.

Saying nothing, Korra breathed and the tablet raised a few feet off of the table making her smile and lose control. But she didn't lose that smile of hers.

"That's cool," she said looking at her hands before frowning. "Wait… if…" she looked to Chackwas. "Your leader... err Shepard, was she one of these 'biotics'?"

The doctor nodded as Miranda spoke up. "She is one of the best I've seen. Maybe not as powerful, but… she used a combination of biotics and martial arts in underground fighting arenas,"

Korra said nothing as she looked at her hand. "So, we switched places," she muttered. "I've taken hers, and she's taken mine, the question is why?"

Both Chackwas and Miranda looked at each other with uneasy looks.

OOOOO

Zaheer sat it in cell. All he could do was meditate all day due to the lack of activities available to him. He was still convinced he was in the right, that the natural order of things was true balance of the world. The nations of Air, Earth, Fire and Water had to be destroyed in order for the world to rebuild. That was something he could not be pushed away from. It was his goal, his purpose. If he died, then it would be someone else to carry the torch.

As he felt the wind move around him, he felt something on it, something different, new, alien. He wasn't sure what it was, but it was there and felt unwelcome. Focusing on it he followed the wind, the pattern to the source. What he saw brought him out of it. He panted looking around him. What he saw couldn't be right, it shouldn't be. But it was as the screams from the White Lotus guards echoed in his ears.

Standing he watched as the door before him was cut open like paper. Eye widened as five figures walked in. They had the outline of humans, but a dull blue light put that thought to bed. The shadows approached her with the middle entering the light. A pale raven-haired girl stood tall and proud despite her alien body.

"Hello Zaheer," Azula said with a smile.
