As Jasmine, Ron, and Hermione entered the Great Hall for breakfast the next day, the first thing that Jasmine looked for was Daphne over at the Slytherin table.

As her eyes met Daphne's, she smiled briefly before returning to eating breakfast.

"You looking forward to ancient runes?" Hermione asked as they took a seat at the Gryffindor table.

"Well, it's going to be better than the morning potions lesson. I can't wait to drop it after I have passed my OWL in it," Jasmine said, grinning at the idea.

"I wish we could drop it now. I don't know any magical family that brews their own potions very often; after all, most common potions don't cost much more than the base ingredients, so it makes no sense to make them," Ron said, making a large sausage and bacon sandwich.

"Really, then why do shops sell them?" Jasmine asked, confused.

"Remember our first potion? It takes over an hour to make just to cure boils; people don't want to waste their time brewing that potion for a few uses," Ron said, taking a large bit of his sandwich.

"I still can't believe that you have both picked so many extra lessons this year that you won't have any free time at all," Ron said, shaking his head.

"So what if we have both picked to do so many extra classes, Hermione snapped. "School is about learning, and everything that we picked will be good for getting a better job after school," Hermione said in a huff, still seeming annoyed about Ron's lack of effort.

Jasmine just leaned into her bowl of porridge and fruit. She didn't want to say that half the reason she had picked to do Ancient Runes and Arithmancy was because of Daphne's expectations of her, and the other half of her didn't want to get involved in the argument that Ron and Hermione had been having since they had arrived at school.

As for Care of Magical Creatures, she had only picked that, so she had a class with Ron and to support Hagrid. Though, given what sort of creatures Hagrid usually associated with, maybe that would be the most dangerous class of the year.

They finished breakfast hastily, said goodbye to Fred and George and walked back through the hall. As they passed the Great Hall, they bumped into Hagrid, who seemed to be excited to see them.

"Can't wait for our lesson tomorrow. I have a right good surprise planned for you all," Hagrid said.

Ron, Hermione and Jasmine shared a semi-worried look. All three of them seemed to have the same worry about Hagrid not always understanding how dangerous some magical creatures were to normal people.

"Really, Can't wait," Jasmine said, trying to make herself sound more excited than she was. She hoped it was something like unicorns or fairies, but she got the sinking feeling she wouldn't be that lucky. She was never very lucky.

"What lesson do you three have now," Hagrid asked.

"Potions, we best hurry along, or Snape may take points for not being early," Ron said, giving them both a nudge.

"He would probably take points for us being too early as well," Jasmine said. The walk down to the dungeon was one that Jasmine hated as it felt like she was entering Snape's domain, and she hated it every time.

There was already a small group of people outside the classroom in two distinct groups. On one side, the Gryffindor, and on the other side,

Slytherin.

Neither of the two groups talked to each other, which was very common, given that it always ended up in some kind of fight or argument. Jasmine gave a few of the lions a smile and a nod as she walked closer. Thankfully, it seemed that Snape had yet to show up.

"Do you think it's going to be another last-year recap before he picks a random potion for us to make from last year again?" Jasmine asked.

Before anyone could reply, a chill seemed to enter the corridor, and Snape stalked down the much narrower feeling corridor before the door of the potions room opened with a bang, making a few people jump in surprise.

"Inside," Snape said as he entered the gloomy classroom.

It turned out that Jasmine was correct. Snape spent the entire lesson asking the Griffindors question after question, some that Jasmine knew they hadn't even been taught last year. Once Snape had taken enough points from them for not knowing the answers to his question, so he picked out a random potion for them to make.

"You are taking Dinvation this year, aren't you?" Hermione asked as they left the classroom.

"Yes," Jasmine replied, confused.

"Hmm, I think you could be good at predicting the future," Hermione said in a joking tone.

Jasmine let out a snort before she felt her wrist buzz. She looked down at her watch to see a message from Daphne, making her grin once she read the message.

It seemed that Daphne wanted to meet her tonight, making Jasmine smile uncontrollably, which Hermione noticed and got a curious look from her.

"You okay?" Hermione asked, seeming unable to stop herself from asking after seeing the radiant smile on Jasmine's face.

"Yes, so we got charms and then lunch before our first class of Ancient Runes," Jasmine said.

She hoped that Ancient Runes and Arithmancy were both classes that she could spend time in without pretending that she didn't know Daphne.

Thankfully, the charms class was much better than potions, not that it was hard, but after going over a few charms from last year, Professor Flitwick then went over the charms they would learn in the 1st term and even gave them a small demonstration.

"I can't believe that you two won't be able to join me for the free period," Ron said as they walked out of the charms lesson.

"Then you should have taken more than just care of magical creatures and divination," Hermione said, rolling her eyes, but thankfully, she didn't try to get Ron to take any more classes.

No doubt Hermione didn't feel like arguing about it again.

Jasmine didn't say anything, but she had expected Ron to at least pick one of the more useful extra classes, given that all of his brothers had seemed to do so. Care of Magical Creatures would only help you get a job like Ron's brother Charlie.

Not that Ron had ever mentioned wanting to work with animals before. In fact, she didn't ever remember him saying anything about what he wanted to do at work after school. Maybe he didn't know what he wanted to do yet.

Not that Jasmine had any idea what she wanted to do after Hogwarts either, but she had more than enough money to spend a few years finding herself and what she wanted to do with her life.

Ron, however, didn't. Both of her older brothers go straight to work after school, and she knew that the twins were planning on the same thing before opening a joke shop and idea that Jasmine was thinking about investing in.

After a quick lunch, she and Hermione made their way up to the 3rd corridor and to the left wing, where Ancient Runes was being held. Stepping inside the classroom, she was a little surprised at how few people were in the class and wondered if people were still on their way to class.

There was a small group of Ravenclaws on one of the rows, one that she recognised as Padma, who gave her a smile and a wave. There was also a small group of Hufflepuffs and Slytherins in their own rows as well.

Jasmine was a little unsure what to do as Daphne had said that she should mingle with other people this year, but if Daphne wanted her to get to know and make more friends, then she was sure she wanted her to make friends in Hufflepuff, given she could make her own friends in Slytherin.

Jasmine walked over to the long desk that the Hufflepuffs were at and greeted them with a smile. "Hey, Susan, can we sit here?"

A dark, ginger-haired girl looked up at Jasmine and Hermione.

"Sure, how was your summer?" Susan asked as Jasmine took a seat with Hermione.

"It was good I went on holiday abroad for the first time in my life," Jasmine said with a large, happy smile.

"Really? Hmm, yes, you really do have a nice tan," Susan said after inspecting Jasmine.

"Thanks. How was your summer?" Jasmine asked.

"It was okay. I spent most of my time with Hannah as my aunt is always busy with work," Susan said, sounding a little sad.

Jasmine gave Susan a sympathetic smile. She knew that Susan's aunt was the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and with Pettigrew escaping at the start of summer, she must have been busy searching for him.

"What about you, Hermione? What did you do over the summer?" Hannah asked.

"I spent the first two weeks in France with my parents, which was really nice since I spent Christmas at Hogwarts last year."

"Really, did you see any Veela? I have been told they are as beautiful as goddesses," Susan asked.

"Err, no, I don't recall meeting anyone that looked like a goddess, but we didn't spend too much time in the magical side of France as I didn't want my parents to feel out of place," Hermione said.

"Well, if you are staying at Hogwarts for Christmas, we are able to go visit Hogsmeade this year. So you, could you have them visit the village over Christmas so that you can meet them?" Hannah said.

Hermione seemed surprised that she could invite her parents to the village before she grinned, looking a mix of happy and excited that she didn't have to pick between her friends and her family this Christmas.

"Shame they can't visit Hogwarts," Jasmine said as she thought that some kind of a family day would be pretty nice for the parents of the muggle-born students.

"Ahh, you are all already here. Good, it seems like I have an enthusiastic bunch of students this year," a woman said, walking into the room.

The teacher was a young-looking woman who Jasmine guessed couldn't be much older than 25 at a push. She had ink-black hair that fell in a messy yet purposeful way over their forehead as though they had run a hand through it absentmindedly in the middle of a thought. The hair contrasted sharply with their pale skin.

Their dark eyes, framed by sleek, black glasses, scanned the room quickly as they stepped in, the faintest hint of a smirk tugging at the corner of their lips. As she moved towards the front of the classroom, she had an air of quiet confidence that contradicted her young age.

"Welcome to Ancient Runes, or as I prefer to call it, Runic Studies," the teacher said, placing her books down on a large desk at the front of the classroom.

"My name is Professor Bathsheda Babbling; now, a quick question: is there anyone who hasn't also taken the Arithmancy elective?"

Everyone in the class looked around, but no one put their hand up.

"Excellent! Although they are two separate classes, they interwind with each other a lot."

"Now runes, who can tell me what runes are and a runic language?" Professor Bathsheda Babbling asked with a large grin on her face.

The next hour of the class was spent going over what runes were, the many different examples of runic languages that existed in the world, and how different civilisations used runes for a large variety of tasks.

Then, the teacher moved on to the language that they would be starting with this year, as well as some of the things that they would learn to do with runes by the end of the year.

"I can't believe that Hieroglyphics are actually a runic language," Hermione said as they walked out of the classroom.

"I mean, in hindsight, it sort of makes sense," Susan said.

"Do you have Care of Magical Creatures next?" Jasmine asked Hannah as Susan and Hermione talked about runes.

"Yes, though I am not sure if the classes will be any good given Hagrid is teaching," Hannah said, looking a little worried.

Jasmine frowned. "What is wrong with Hagrid?"

Seeing Jasmine's face, Hannah looked flustered. "Nothing wrong with him; it's just that he has gotten into trouble several times for having dangerous creatures," Hannah said quickly.

Jasmine blushed and wanted to stick up for Hagrid, but he did have a Dragon in her 1st year, and the 2nd year had giant spiders that had a fondness for human flesh.

"I doubt it would be too dangerous; after all, I am sure lessons need approval by the headmaster or deputy headmistress," Jasmine said, feeling a little embarrassed she couldn't say anything more in Hagrids defence.

Together, they made their way out of the castle and down the large hill toward Hagrids house. There was already a group of students outside the hut, and Jasmine could see Ron's distinctive red hair.

As they trudged down the slopping hill, Jasmine pulled out her book, which was bound with two thick wrappings of sellotape. However even that didn't stop the sound of growling coming from the book.

"Ah, I see you also had to bind your book," Susan said, holding a copy of the same book; however, this one was bound with a pink ribbon.

"Well, let's hope that Hagrid knows how to open the books," Hannah said, sounding a little annoyed about the books. Something that Jasmine could understand as the book had managed to give her a nasty bite when she had first gotten it.

"Where is Hagrid?" Jasmine asked Ron as they made it outside his cabin.

"He said he was going to get the creatures ready and then come back and get us all," Ron said, giving Jasmine a worried look. Jasmine tried to give a reassuring smile, but from the look on Ron's face, she didn't think that he was reassured.

It seems that Ron hadn't forgotten the dragon bite he had gotten in the 1st year that landed him in the hospital for almost a week.

"Hopefully, we are not having our lesson in his dirty cabin," Malfoy's arrogant voice said with amazement.

Jasmine let out a mental sigh. It seemed that she couldn't escape Malfoy for very long. Jasmine decided that she was best ignoring him, or she would end up getting into a pointless fight with him.

"Right, is everyone here?" Hagrids voice asked from the forest.

The class quieted down as Hagrid got closer, and Jasmine noticed that Hagrid had several bruises on his face, something that she hadn't ever seen him have before. Jasmine shared confused looks with Hermione and Ron, who looked just as surprised as her.

However, for the rest of the class, seeing the teacher with a bruised face made them all quite nervous about the creature they were about to encounter, no doubt thinking that had been what had injured Hagrid.

"Right this way," Hagrid said, turning and leading the group into the forest.

Thankfully, it was a short walk before they came to a small clearing at the bank of the Great Lake. And there were three of the strangest creatures that Jasmine had ever seen. They looked like large horses with the heads of an eagle attached to them.

"Right, does anyone know what these are?" Hagrid asked, turning to look back at the class.

Hermione's hand shoot into the air.

"Yes, Hermione?"

"Hippogriffs, right?"

"Correct, these amazing creatures are Hippogriffs. If you open your books to page 41-" Hagrid said.

"And how are we meant to do that even if the shop didn't know how to open the books?" Draco's drawling voice asked.

"Really, none of you have been able to open your books?" Hagrid asked, sounding crestfallen.

The entire class shook their heads, making Hagrid seem even more embarrassed.

"You just got ter stroke 'em," said Hagrid, grabbing one of the books and pulling off the rope before running his large finger down its spine.

The book gave a strange shiver before it opened like a normal book, and he gave it back to the student.

"Oh, how silly we've all been!" Malfoy sneered. "Why didn't we think about treating the book like a creature," Malfoy said sarcastically.

Jasmine had to bite her tongue as she glared over at Draco, who wasn't paying her any notice and just had a nasty grin on his face.

"Right now, you got your books open, so Hippogriffs. The first thing you need to know about a Hippogriff is that they are very proud creatures. So just be careful what you say around them. Anything that is mildly insulting, such as the condition of their feathers, will make them angry at you.

"Now, when you come across a Hippogriff, the first thing you need to do is give them a bow. If she bows back, he has recognised you and isn't likely to attack you... if not well, we will come to that," Hagrid said.

"So, who wants to try first?" Hagrid said, clapping his hands together.

Almost instantly, the entire class took a step back, giving a cautious look towards the Hippogriffs.

"Really, come on, surely one of you must be willing?" Hagrid said, looking around the class. After a few seconds of no one stepping forward, Jasmine couldn't bear the growing sad and disappointed look on Hagrid's face.

"I guess I will go first then," Jasmine said, feeling far less confident than she felt.

Slowly, Jasmine made her way towards Hagrid. "Right, like I said, give one a bow and see if he bows back," Hagrid said, giving Jasmine a pat on the back that sent her stumbling forward.

The rest of the class was watching with bated breath, and Jasmine wondered how many were hoping to see a Hippogriff attack her. She knew Malfoy would be.

As she got closer to the Hippogriffs, they all turned to look at her. Nervously, Jasmine gave the best bow she could, but she felt a prickling sensation down the back of her neck.

After a few seconds, Jasmine looked up slightly, and her eyes met the Hippogriffs. The Hippogriff was still staring haughtily at her, almost as if it was deciding if she was worth attacking or not.

Then, to her great relief, the Hippogriff gave its own bow, and Jasmine let out a sigh of relief. Hagrid started clapping, and Jasmine heard the rest of the students give a sigh of relief and start clapping.

"Right, he should let you touch him now," Hagrid said.

Jasmine gave Hagrid a reluctant look that Hagrid didn't seem to notice. The claws on the Hippogriff looked very sharp, and she didn't fancy the large beak either. Carefully, Jasmine made her way to the creature, who was watching her as she got closer as if inspecting her.

Once she was within arms reach, the Hippogriff leaned forward, making Jasmine freeze as her wand snapped into her other hand from her wand holster on her forearm. However, the Hippogriff just gave her hand a small nudge, and Jasmine brought her hand up to the Hippogriff's head and started petting it.

As she patted the Hippogriff, it closed its eyes lazily, enjoying the petting, and Jasmine thought it looked almost cat-like. Jasmine grinned as she felt her fingers brush through the soft feathers on the Hippogriff's head.

The class applauded, and Jasmien grinned as she flicked her wand back into her wand holster.

"Right, then I think you can ride him," Hagrid said suddenly, catching Jasmine by surprise.

"Wait, what?" Jasmine said, confused. Hagrid never said anything about riding the Hippogriff. "Ride him?" Jasmine asked.

"Ya hop up," Hagrid said encouragingly.

For a moment, Jasmine wanted to refuse but bit her tongue as it was Hagrids first lesson. At least it shouldn't be too dangerous. Jasmine walked to the side of the Hippogriff and was relieved as the Hippogriff kneeled down for her.

Jasmine was thankful that she was wearing her robe as she climbed onto the Hippogriff in case her skirt didn't cover everything.

"Go on, then!" roared Hagrid, slapping the Hippogriff's hindquarters.

Without warning, twelve-foot wings flapped open on either side of Jasmine, she just had time to seize the Hippogriff around the neck before he was soaring upward.

It was nothing like the smooth ride of her broom. With every flag of the wings, Jasmien was rocked back and forth, and her fingers grabbed the feathers in front of her tighter. Any worry about pulling the Hippogriff's feathers had left her once they had flown higher than the trees of the forest.

Jasmine only hoped that it wouldn't fly away from the area where the lesson was held. To her great relief, the Hippogriff soon started descending back into the forest.

The moment the Hippogriff was on the ground, Jasmine quickly slid off the creature and was never so thankful to be on the ground again. She didn't think that she would ever find a form of flying that she would hate.

The class broke into loud applause that seemed to annoy the Hippogriff's who started to claw the ground.

"Okay, who else wants a go?" Hagrid said after the class stopped clapping.

Hesitantly, one by one, the class started to bow to the Hippogriffs, with some getting bows back and others getting a cold stare that sent them scurrying backwards.

"You going to try?" Jasmine asked Hermione, who was standing near the back of the group of people waiting.

"I never really liked horses," Hermione said.

"Hmm, do you think they are more eagles or horses?" Jasmine asked as she gave the Hippogriffs a confused look.

"Most of the body is a horse, so I guess what, 70% horse and 30% eagle?"

Jasmine pondered and wondered what the DNA of magical creatures looked like. Would it be a mix of the two animals or an entirely new animal?

"Well, looks like it's your turn," Jasmine said, pushing Hermione towards the Hippogriffs. As Hermione got closer to the Hippogriffs, Jasmine looked over towards the Hippogriff that she had ridden and frowned at what she saw.

Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle had taken over the Hippogriff that Jasmine had ridden on. Malfoy had given a rather crude bow to the Hippogriff, no doubt thinking he shouldn't have to bow to an animal.

However, the Hippogriff had bowed back to Malfoy, who was now patting his beak and looking disdainful. Jasmine could almost sense that something was about to go wrong.

As she met Draco's eyes, he got a cocky grin on his face, which just made the bad feeling intensify.

"I don't know why people were clapping. This is very easy," Malfoy drawled, loud enough for Jasmine to hear him. "I knew it must have been if Potter could do it…I bet you're not dangerous at all?" he said to the Hippogriff.

"Are you, you great ugly brute?" Malfoy said, giving the Hippogriff a hard pat that was more of a soft slap than a pet.

It happened in an instant. The Hippogriff let out a screech, and then, in a flash of claws, Malfoy let out his own scream. Hagrid seemed to appear next to the Hippogriff, grabbed the rope around its neck, and pulled it away from Malfoy as it tried to slash him again with its claws.

People in the class started screaming as Malfoy screamed on the ground, his arm slowly turning red from the blood. "It's killed me," Malfoy yelled, and he clutched his arm rolling on the ground.

"You're not dyin'!" said Hagrid, looking panicked at the injured student.

"Hagrid, take him to the medical wing!" Jasmine shouted.

She wasn't worried about Draco; the cut, while bad, could no doubt be fixed by a flick of the wand of Madam Pomfrey. Instead, she was worried that Hagrid would be in some kind of trouble.

Hagrid easily lifted Malfoy. "Class dismissed!" Hagrid shouted back at the class.

Jasmine, Ron and Hermione stood a little shocked before Hermione broke out of it. "Come on, we have to make sure Hagrid is okay," Hermione said, breaking both Ron and Jasmine out of their shocked state.

"Right," Jasmine said, and the three of them ran after Hagrid, who was nearly at the castle already.

"God, Hagrid can run!" Ron said, panting as they got to the front gate of the door.

"Must be the long legs. Maybe someone needs to make a long leg charm," Jasmine said, slightly less out of breath.

"At least the Hospital wing is on the first floor," Hermione said.

"On the opposite side of the castle, and we have Divination soon," Ron said, sounding annoyed at the idea of running to the south wing.

"The lesson ended early. We have time," Jasmine said. "Come on," Jasmine said.

The door to the hospital wing was closed, and Hagrid was waiting outside, looking nervous.

"Hagrid!" Ron shouted as they got closer.

""What are you three doing here?" Hagrid asked, seeming surprised to see them.

"We came to see if you are okay," Jasmine said.

"How do you think my first lesson got someone injured?" Hagrid said, almost sounding close to tears.

"That was Draco's fault for not following your instructions. You told him not to insult the Hippogriffs, and he did, but that is on him," Jasmine said back.

"Ya, Draco is at fault here, and it was just a little cut. It's probably already healed anyway," Ron said, scoffing.

"What you need to do is go talk to Dumbledore. I am sure Malfoy will try and blow this out of proportion," Hermione said.

"Whot, but it's just a cut," Hagrid said.

"No, Hermoine is right. Malfoy Senior would take any chance to attack Dumbledore," Jasmine said, having heard from Mr Weasly about the type of man Lucius Malfoy was.

Hagrid started to fidget about and seemed to grow worried not that it was easy to tell with his large beard and long hair.

"Go to Dumbledore now. I am sure he can help. There is no point standing outside the hospital wing," Jasmine said.

"Right," Hagrid said before he started running towards where Jasmine knew Dumbledore's office was.

"Do you think Mr Malfoy will try and get Hagrid fired?" Hermione asked.

"Fired, he will no doubt try and get him arrested," Ron said, scoffing, making Hermione even more worried.

Jasmine shot Ron a look, making him blush as he realised that he had made Hermione feel even more worried. "Don't worry, Dumbledore won't let anything happen to Hagrid," Jasmine said, pulling Hermione into a hug.

"Come on, we need to get to Divination," Hermione said, wiping her eyes, which had turned red with unshed tears.

"On the bright side, what could go wrong in a lesson of Divination? I heard they were super boring," Ron said with a shrug.

Jasmine let out a groan. "Why did you say that? Now something bad is going to happen, and no doubt to me."

"Na, you good. It's not Halloween yet," Ron said, patting Jasmine on her back.

"Thanks, that makes me feel so much better..." Jasmine said unenthusiastically.

"You just had to say nothing could go wrong, didn't you?" Jasmine asked Ron sarcastically.

"Well, you're fine, aren't you?"

"Ron, she spent at least 15 minutes predicting how Jasmine was about to die,"

"I mean, death by a dragon is very unlikely at Hogwarts," Ron said.

"Unless you count the dragon from the first year," Hermione said to remind Ron.

"That was one time, and it was a baby dragon," Ron said, rolling his eyes.

Before they could walk any further, Parvati rushed up and pulled Jasmine into a tight hug. "You okay, Jasmine," Parvati asked, and Jasmine could tell that she was almost in tears.

Jasmine felt her chest grow warm at how upset her friend was for her.

"Hey, I am okay," Jasmine whispered.

"But she said that you are going to die," Parvati said with a trembling lip.

"She didn't say when it could be in 60 years for all we know. I mean, dying by a dragon in Hogwarts?" Jasmine asked as if it was a ridiculous idea.

"Right ya, of course," Parvati said.

"Come on, let's go back to the common room and relax a little before tea," Lavender said, taking hold of Parvati and guiding her.

"I didn't know you were that close?" Ron asked, confused.

"We live together, Ron," Jasmine said, rolling her eyes and feeling a little guilty that she hadn't told Ron about her strange relationship.

"I guess I don't think I am that close to any of the boys, though," Ron said.

"Boys," Hermione said, rolling her eyes. "But relaxing does sound nice. It's been a long day."

"Game of chess?" Ron asked Jasmine.

Jasmine rolled her eyes. "I feel you just like bullying me at chess," Jasmine said jokingly as they made their way back to the common room.

"Everyone listens up," Professor McGonagall said as she walked into the common room, getting everyone's attention as they were getting ready to go down to the Great Hall for tea.

Jasmine looked over, surprised to see Professor McGonagall in the common room. She couldn't remember a single time in the 1st or 2nd year when she had come to the common room.

"For the students that had Care of Magical Creatures today-" As soon as Jasmine heard that, she felt her blood go cold, and all she could think of was Hagrid.

The common room also broke into whispers, and Jasmine was sure what had happened in class wasn't a secret. She was also sure that most of the students didn't feel any pity for Malfoy.

"As I was saying, people from the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures will be arriving at school tomorrow and will be speaking to the students in the class.

"They should be arriving tomorrow around lunch to speak to as many people as possible, and they may also talk to some more people at tea. I expect every one of you to treat them with respect and be truthful about what happened in the class," Professor McGonagall said.

Jasmine, Ron, and Hermione looked at each other and wondered if they should be happy about people from the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures conducting an investigation, given Hagrid's fondness for dangerous creatures.

With her announcement over, Professor McGonagall turned and left the common room, which had gone quiet.

"It should be fine. At least they are trying to find out who is at fault," Hermione said, trying to look on the bright side.

"Come on, let's get tea," Jasmine said, standing up before she felt her watch vibrate, meaning that Daphne had sent her a message. Looking down at her watch, Jasmine quickly read the message and was surprised.

"Give me a moment. I need to get something from my room," Jasmine said, running up the stairs to grab her invisibility cloak and hide it in the inside pocket of her robe.

Jasmine spent most of the tea glaring over at Malfoy at the Slytherin table, who had his arm wrapped up tightly in a large amount of bandages. It went all the way from his upper arm and covered his hand.

He spent most of the tea making obvious fake faces of pain as he moved his arm before ginning as if he had managed to trick everyone in the hall. Jasmine could see Madam Pomfrey looking quite scary as she stared down at Malfoy.

She looked angry enough that if she was in Draco's position, she wouldn't dare to visit Madam Pomfrey ever again for fear she would make her suffer.

As tea came to an end, Jasmine looked over at Daphne, who seemed to be able to sense that she was looking at her and looked up and gave her a wink.

"I will meet you in the dorm room," Jasmine said and quickly ducked to the side before Ron and Hermione could say anything.

Jasmine pulled on her cloak and made her way towards the 3rd floor, as Daphne had asked her to do in her message. Jasmine could feel her heart beating excitedly in her chest as she wondered what Daphne wanted to meet for. Normally, Daphne would just ask her to come to her room if she wanted to meet.

Jasmine wasn't surprised to see that Daphne was already waiting for her as she turned the last corner to the third-floor corridor. She leaned gracefully against the rough brick wall, the silvery moonlight cascading over her. It made Jasmine a little jealous at how easily she could look so graceful and sexy.

"Hey," Jasmine said, pulling her hood off and becoming a floating head.

Daphne grinned. "Hey, I was thinking I could sneak into your dorm room," she said with a small and graceful smile.

Jasmine was caught by surprise at Daphne's request. She hadn't ever thought about sneaking Daphne into her dorm room, mainly due to it being a shared space, unlike the dorm rooms in Slytherin.

For a moment, Jasmine was going to reject the idea but paused as she realised that everyone in the dorm room knew about her and Daphne or Daphne and Parvati, so she couldn't really think of a reason why Daphne couldn't sneak into her room.

"Guess you will need this then," Jasmine said, pulling off her invisibility cloak and handing it to Daphne, who wrapped herself in it. Thankfully, on the walk back to the Gryffindor common room, most of the hallways were empty.

Only a few couples from different houses were lingering about getting one last final kiss back in or sneaking into an unused classroom or bathroom for something more intimate.

As they approached the entrance, Jasmine found herself feeling more paranoid, as if someone would know about her sneaking Daphne into their common room.

"Everyone is going to know you are up to something if you keep looking around like that," Daphne whispered, sounding amused. "Just pretend that you are sneaking into the Slytherin dorms."

Jasmine blushed as she tried her best not to look around. As they stood outside the portrait, Jasmine gave the password, and the portrait swung open.

"I am surprised at how loud and busy your common room is; that wouldn't ever happen in Slytherin," Daphne whispered as they walked up the girls' staircase.

"You should see it after we win a quidditch game or the house cup. It's way louder, and alcohol always seems to find its way into the drinks," Jasmine said, grinning as she thought of last year's last night of the school year.

"No doubt the Weasley twins work with help from the map you showed me last year."

"Yes, I am sure it was them. I never did look into getting copies of the map made, but I think it would be a good idea if we could have some spares just in case," Jasmine said as she wondered how she would go about getting that done.

"I would love a copy. It would make getting blackmail material on my fellow snakes much easier," Daphne said in a way that made Jasmine shiver and almost feel bad for the other Slytherins.

As they stopped outside the door to the current 3rd year dorm, Jasmine hesitated to open it. "Maybe I should just go in and give them a heads up."

Daphne let out a scoff, and Jasmine could almost imagine Daphne rolling her eyes, and she pushed open the door.

"Hey, Jasmine," Parvati said.

"Hey, we have a guest," Jasmine said, walking into the room and closing the door so no one could see inside.

"Really, who?" Lavender asked, looking up from a book.

"Hello," Daphne said, pulling the invisibility cloak off her.

Everyone in the room seemed surprised at Daphne appearing from under an invisibility cloak. Hermione and Parvati were the first to react, with Parvati getting up and rushing over to give Daphne a hug.

Hermione meanwhile seemed to look at the three of them one by one with a thoughtful look on her face.

"Well, the more, the merrier; me and I were just trying to convince Hermione to let us paint her nails," Lavender said as Parvati pulled Daphne towards the bed.

"If she doesn't want to, you shouldn't try and bully her into doing it," Daphne scolded Parvati gently.

"So, how was everyone's first day?" Daphne asked.

"It was good. Care of Magical Creatures was interesting," Lavender said.

"Yes, I think the entire school has heard about Draco's brush with death," Daphne said sarcastically.

Jasmine let out a snort at the so-called brush with death. It was nothing more than a cut. "Just don't ask about Divination. I'm not even sure I will bother with a 2nd lesson," Jasmine said, taking a seat on the crowded bed.

"Hmm?" Daphne asked, seeing the look of worry on Parvati's and Lavender's faces.

"The teacher said Jasmine was going to die like 5 or 6 different ways," Hermione said, seeing Daphne's confused look.

"Never going to happen," Daphne said confidently, leaning over and pulling Jasmine into a hug. Jasmine blushed, realising they had an audience that was watching them.

"So, do you want your nails painted?" Daphne asked Jasmine.

"Err..." Jasmine said that as she saw Parvati's and Lavender's pouting faces, she felt her will crumble. "Sure, I guess red wouldn't be a bad colour."

Both girls grinned and pulled out different shades of red from some make-up bags. Lavender, however, was quickly pulling Jasmine's socks off and pulling out some strange foam things from another make-up bag.

"Anything else interesting happening during the day?" Daphne said, her arms still wrapped around Jasmine's waist.

"Hmm, not really, just normal lessons," Jasmine said with a yawn.

"Yes, it's just been a review of what we did last year," Parvati said.

"It's important to do a review. After all, we had all summer to forget about spells that we learned last year, and most people won't have bothered to practice them over the summer," Hermione said.

"You sure you don't want your nails painted?" Daphne asked Hermione.

"I am fine. Nail polish doesn't really suit me," Hermione said, sounding self-conscious.

"Nonsense, you would look great. Come on, at least try it," Daphne said, getting up and walking over to Hermoine.

With a little encouragement, Daphne pulled Hermione over to the bed, which almost had no space left. Daphne picked out a pale blue nail polish and slowly started to paint Hermione's nails.

"Are you staying here tonight?" Jasmine asked Daphne.

"Yes, there should be room in your bed, right?" Daphne asked, grinning.

Jasmine blushed at the looks that Hermione and Lavender gave her and shot Daphne an amused look. Jasmine knew that Daphne said it like that on purpose.

"Well, tomorrow should be a fairly relaxed day. We only have Ancient Runes and Arithmancy, and we have Charms and History of Magic in the morning.

"At least it's not Potions. I can't wait till the 5th year so I can drop potions," Jasmine said as she wriggled her toes.

"I am sure Snape will find a way to still take points from you," Lavender joked.

"I am sure he will as well, but it means I may only see him at dinner or tea time and not several times a week," Jasmine said optimistically.

"Soo.. you and Jasmine, and you and Parvati?" Lavender asked Daphne.

Daphne grinned. "You looking to join?"

Lavender blushed. "Thanks for the offer, but no thanks."

"What about you, Hermione? Do you want to join?" Daphne said, turning to tease Hermione.

Hermione let out a squeak, jumped off the bed, grabbed her book again, and buried her face into the book. Daphne let out a giggle and wrapped her arms around Jasmine again.

"Want to take a shower?" Daphne whispered.

"Just a shower?" Jasmine whispered back.

"Nothing more than a shower, and then we can cuddle in bed," Daphne said.

Jasmine grinned as they got off the bed and moved towards the shower as Jasmine ignored Lavender and Parvati's giggles.
