Ch 18 Another Complication

Kion ran until his lungs were going to explode. Panting for breathe Kion flopped on the ground to catch his breath. After a few minutes Kion lifted his head and looked around and to his shock he saw that he had run clear down to the gorge. Peering down the edge the young Prince shuddered as he remembered his father's story of how his grandfather, Mufasa had been murdered by Scar. Simba had been just Kion's age when he had lost his father. And he had spent years feeling guilty about what had happened. Believing it had been all his fault. Kion imagined what it would be like if he saw Simba fall to his death. Kion shuddered again and shook his head, not wanting to think about that horrible thought. Then a great feeling of sadness came over the golden coated Prince. "Oh Grandfather I'm sorry," Kion whispered as he lowered himself to the ground, the guilty feeling overwhelming him as he began to cry. Just then he felt someone gently nuzzling him. Sniffling Kion looked up and saw the concerned blue eyes of Sasha looking down at him. Kike was next to her sister and she too had a look of concern on her face.

"My goodness Kion what's the matter?" Sasha asked, the concern clear in her voice.

"What has you so upset dear one?" Kike asked at the same time.

"I'm a traitor that's what," Kion muttered as he wiped away the tears. "I should have never helped you two set Scar free."

"I thought you agreed with us," Sasha said.

"I was confused," Kion declared, getting to his feet. "I didn't know the whole truth. Scar is an evil lion. He wasn't misunderstood. He hurt other creatures just because he could! He deserves to rot in a cave for the rest of his life!"

"Kion," Sasha said. "I don't know who told you these lies but..." But the beige lioness was cut off by Kion's angry shout.

"They're not lies!" the golden coated Prince cried out, causing both Sasha and Kike to jump slightly. "My mother told me the truth!" Kion went on. "She told me Scar hurt her really bad! That's why she ran away back then. Because she had too!" Sasha and Kike's eyes went wide as they heard Kion's words.

"You mean he...he raped Nala?" Kike stammered, her green eyes wide with horror.

"That's exactly what I mean!" Kion cried out. "And my mother wouldn't lie about something like that!"

"Kion," Sasha began. But once again she was cut off by Kion.

"I'm going back to Pride Rock right now and confessing everything!" Kion declared as he turned and began to walk away. But just then a tan blur came and scooped Kion up and ran off with him. Sasha and Kike exchanged confused looks but the sisters said nothing as they silently followed Zira to the Outlands.

Meanwhile Kopa and Kiara were looking for their brother. They soon found him talking with Sasha and Kike. Both siblings exchanged looks of confusion as it was clear that Kion was having a pretty intense conversation with the sisters. So the Prince and Princess decided to get closer so they could hear what was being said. But just then they saw Zira come flying in and scoop Kion up and take off with him. "Kiara run home and tell Mom and Dad what's happening!" Kopa shouted. "I'm going after them!" Before Kiara could respond Kopa took off after Zira. Kiara sat there for a few seconds, stunned at what had just happened. But the golden coated Princess quickly shook her head and took a deep breath.

"I can't let my brothers down," the Princess said to herself. "I just can't." With that Kiara took off towards Pride Rock to get Simba and Nala, all the while silently praying that she wouldn't be too late to help her brothers.

A few minutes later Zira was back in the Outlands where she was met by a confused Cala and Shida. "Zira what..." Cala began as she saw Kion in Zira's jaws. Kovu was training with Hai but both cubs stopped when Zira dropped Kion roughly to the ground. Kion tried to run away but Zira quickly stomped on his tail, causing him to let out a yelp of pain. Vitani had come onto the scene along with Nguvu. All the cubs were watching silently to what was happening.

"Mom what's going on?" Nguvu whispered, his blue eyes wide.

"Shh quiet dear one," Shida whispered, nuzzling her grey coated son. Nguvu wanted to say more but he knew better than that. So he just snuggled next to his mother and watched the scene unfold.

"Silence!" Zira thundered, causing everyone to jump. Then the tan coated lioness flipped Kion over so that he was on his back and she put her face inches from his, her teeth bared. "If you breathe a word to Simba or Nala about what we've done you will regret it!"

"Now Zira lets not be harsh on our young guest," a voice from the shadows said. Kion's eyes went wide as he instantly recognized the voice. "After all he is our ally and a guest here and we should treat him as such."

"He's no ally of ours Scar!" Zira snarled, her face still inches from Kion's.

"How dare you question me!" Scar thundered, causing Zira to jump slightly

"Forgive me Scar," Zira said, regaining her composure and raising her head. "But the brat was going to ruin everything and tell Simba what we've been plotting."

"Was he now?" Scar said emerging from the shadows. Sasha and Kike were helping the old lion walk. Scar sat beside Zira and shoved her away from Kion. Kion once again tried to run but Scar stopped him. "What's the rush Kion?" the old brown coated lion asked, his voice low and dark.

"Get you paws off of me!" Kion shouted, trying to shove Scar's paws off of him. But even though Scar wasn't his strongest he was still a full grown lion and Kion was only a six month old cub.

"Why all the hostility Kion?" Scar asked. "I thought we were friends."

"I was so stupid to ever believe your lies!" Kion declared, still trying to break free of Scar's grasp. "But now I know the truth Scar! You're nothing but a lying coward! You murdered my grandfather and raped my mother! I'll never be friends with you!" With that Kion bit down hard on Scar's paw, catching the older lion by surprise and loosen his grasp on Kion, allowing him to break free. But Zira wasn't about to let him get away and she quickly pinned Kion down to the ground again, digging her claws into his chest drawing blood. Kike went to help Kion but Sasha quickly stopped her sister.

"Are you insane Kike?!" Sasha hissed. "Zira will kill you if you interfere." Kike opened her mouth to argue but before she could Zira's roar of fury echoed through the air. Kike looked over and her green eyes went wide with horror when she saw what was happening.

"I'll kill you for that you little shit!" Zira roared, hitting Kion in the face over and over again. Kion's vision began to go black and he knew he was on the verge of passing out. His saw blurred faces and heard garbled voice as he began to pass out. But just as he was about to pass out a creamy blur leapt in front of him.

"Leave my brother alone!" Kopa shouted, baring his teeth and extending his claws as he bit down hard on Zira's paw, catching her by surprise and causing her to release Kion.

"You miserable brat!" Zira snarled, hitting Kopa hard in his face and sending him sprawling across the ground.

"No!" Kion cried out, his amber eyes wide with horror. But before he could help Kopa he saw Scar looming over him, paw raised and claws extended. Then his world went to black.
