Snufkin thinks about thinks in the night.

Snufkin is hurt. Really, really hurt. Someone did this to him, and the Moomins are going to find out who. Little do they know, that the moment Snufkin's blood hit their doorstep they were opening themselves up to a new world of horrors. But strange creatures and evil folklore can't separate this family. Summary: The Snork and Moominpappa have a talk 'man to man' and things from the past get joined back together again. The Snork only appears in two of the nine Moomin novels. This short story suggests why that was and what really brought him and his sister into the stories in the first place.

Snufkin falls sick after a particularly bad run in with a spring storm and Moomin comes to the rescue. Snufmin stuff ensues.

Moomintroll's little book went wherever he did – when he foraged for fresh ingredients with Moominmamma, and when he picked flowers with Snorkmaiden, and when he took time for himself amid the forest's towering pines… At some point or another, pencil would be brought to paper once again, whenever something about these adventures inevitably reminded him of his best friend.

On the cusp of winter, Snufkin finds himself stuck with an odd traveling companion while he travels south who might end up stirring some forgotten memories.

There is probably another universe where they did not have each other. A universe where there was a river and a basket and a child all by themselves. This is not that universe. Or: drabbles about a lazy father raising his peculiar son.

Is almost winter again in Moomin Valley, it is almost time for Snufkin to go away, following the warmer weather, but he is not ready yet, his heart is longing for something that not even his travels can give him.
