Look, I'm sorry that this took so long…school's a pain! But I'm excited because this is a fic that I was planning ever since I found out that fanfiction was a thing lol.
The story has changed a little bit from when I first planned it…but it's only because I couldn't find a reason for some of the characters being mad, but I digress!
So let's jump into the chaos Hooligans!
It was a calm and quiet evening on the Edge…well almost. Hiccup was at the forge working on a piece of Toothless saddle that had needed reinforcing. He needed to get this piece fixed because he was going to berserker island the next day and he'd only remembered to fix it then.
Heather and Dagur had sent a terror mail asking for his assistance. Like Berk, the Berserkers need some help getting used to the dragons on their island and they knew he could help them.
The reason why he was going alone was because they mostly had all of the dragons settled, but they told him that just a few of them were still wary of the Berserkers, so it wasn't a big enough deal to where all the riders needed to go.
When Hiccup was done he was starting to clean up the forge, and he heard some yelling coming from the clubhouse and he started walking over as Toothless followed.
When he entered the clubhouse he saw Astrid and Snotlout arguing with each other, and Fishlegs and the twins watching from afar.
"Snotlout you don't seem to understand why this is such a big deal!" Astrid shouted "I mean what were you thinking?!"
"Look Astrid, I'm sorry that I was tired and I needed some beauty sleep." Snotlout said
"Snotlout, since when has sleeping ever been more important than patrol! I can't believe how insolent you are sometimes!" Astrid retorted. Snotlout was about to shout back at her when Hiccup spoke up.
"Hey what's going on?" Hiccup asked
Astrid looked over at Hiccup and sighed as she started to explain the problem. "Well when it was my turn to take the next shift for patrol I found Snotlout and Hookfang, sleeping on the job. And i tried to explain why that was wrong, and the fact that the dragon hunters could've attacked at any moment."
"Snotlout!" Hiccup said as he looked over at Snotlout
"You guys don't seem to understand that beauty is pain, and i needed my sleep. Besides, the hunters didn't attack, so I don't see the big deal with all of this! " Snotlout argued back
"Snotlout, it's not about that, it's about the principle! When you're on patrol it's your job to make sure we don't get attacked and possibly killed. It's all on you." Hiccup said
Hiccup sighed "Okay look you're going to patrol the whole island tomorrow while I'm gone."
"Ugh fine!" Snotloutt replied
"With Astrid."
"Wait what?!" Snotlout asked in shock
"Yeah what?!" Astrid asked
"Snotlout, get back to your post, and don't leave or fall asleep." Hiccup said sternly
"Fine!" Snotlout yelled angrily
As Snotlout walked over to Hookfang he was mumbling something that none of them could hear, he took off to patrol the far North of the island, Astrid turned over to Hiccup with an angry face.
"Are you kidding me?!" Astrid asked…well more screamed
"Look Astr-" Hiccup said as he was cut off
"Why are you punishing me too?!" she asked
"I'm not punishing you! You're the one that I can trust with this. Look if the twins went with Snotlout, they'd probably cause more chaos together, and you know that Snotlout definitely won't listen to Fishlegs!"
"Hey don't drag us into this!" Tuffnut yelled
"Not now Tuff!" Astrid said
"Astrid, he'll listen to you…mostly! Trust me, I don't want to make you go with him, but I won't be here for most of tomorrow! If I could go, I would, but I can't. Please? It's just for a few hours." Hiccup asked
"Ugh! Fine!" Astrid said as she walked away
Hiccup sighed as he sat down, he was just tired of both Astrid and the Snotlout's bickering, and who knows what arguments they would get into in the few hours that they were gone. As he was thinking he noticed Fishlegs walking over towards him.
"Sorry Hiccup, you know how they can be…" Fishlegs said
"It's fine, they've always been like this." HIccup said half jokingly "anyways i've gotta go to my hut and get ready for tomorrow."
"Okay see you later!" Fishlegs said
"See you later Fishlegs" Hiccup replied
As Astrid walked to her hut she was fuming with anger. She grabbed her axe and got on Stormfly and took off.
A few hours later she was throwing her axe while Stormfly lay next to her. She was still thinking of the encounter, and why Hiccup would make her go with Snotlout. While, yes, he wouldn't listen to the twins or Fishlegs, it still wasn't fair!
Now that she thought of it, it wasn't exactly Hiccup's fault, and none of this would've happened if Snotlout had just followed orders. As she was about to throw her axe again, she stopped when she realized that she shouldn't be angry at Hiccup, but instead Snotlout.
Hiccup was right, he wouldn't take orders from anybody but her, and then she realized that was a good thing that he wanted her to go with him, because he was putting his trust in her to make sure Snotlout didn't accidentally kill all of them.
Astrid then felt bad for yelling at Hiccup and overreacting, and it was too late at night for her to go to his hut and apologize, besides he had a long day ahead of him.
Astrid decided that she would apologize to him in the morning right before he left, and she would take care of Snotlout like the baby he is. But she'd do it for Hiccup, that's what girlfriends are for, right?
The next morning Hiccup woke up to Toothless ready and get some extra supplies. As Hiccup and Toothless were getting ready on the landing strip, Toothless was making it worse by moving while Hiccup tried to get his saddle on.
But once that was done all he had to worry about was getting supplies that he would need in case of emergencies. As he was getting ready to leave, he noticed Fishlegs who was walking towards him to make sure he had the essentials.
"You got everything?" Fishlegs asked
"Yup! I have a spare tail and leg for me and Toothless in one saddle bag, and some extra food, a flask, and some bandages in the other." Hiccup replied
"Good!" Fishlegs said
"Okay, I'm all set." Hiccup said "Remember to take patrol shifts, and make sure the twins don't blow up the island."
"Got it!" Fishlegs said chuckling
"And can you tell Astrid something for me?" Hiccup asked
"Sure, what is it?" Fishlegs replied
"Can you tell her I'm sorry?"
"Yeah, I will…" Fishlegs said
"Thanks, I'll be back in a few hours." Hiccup said as he took off of the platform, whilst Fishlegs watched him get farther away
And that's it hooligans! Sorry for my absence…i needed a few days to cope lol! I don't know if i'm going to update more this week, but i will take my laptop with me while i go on vacation, and i will try to update! This fic will also be like, 10-15 chapters, but we'll see. But if this chapter turned out bad, sorry! I hope it'll get better! :.)
