Candace turned her head to look at Akasha, "Who are you," fell from the lips of the seemingly entranced woman on the couch.
Akasha shook her head, her eyes still wide as dinner plates, "This can't be possible. You, were supposed to be in torpor according to Mother. You weren't supposed to wake until some event occurred and she went to wake you."
Everyone was looking at the wheelchair bound woman, and to a lesser degree the very bedraggled Issa behind her. They were convinced that the power must have slightly scrambled her given the circumstances behind her being there, because the alternative was inconceivable.
"Again, I don't know who you are, and I am busy trying to figure out why my Husband here is acting like he is someone completely different from who he is," Candace said through the other woman as she redirected her attention toward Tekeshi.
"Look, I understand how hard it is to believe this. He almost killed me, should have been able to kill me. He picked me up by my hair, and sliced my throat open," Tekeshi's grip grew tighter on the back of the couch as he remembered that moment, "He threw me on the ground like a piece of trash and was walking away until I managed to get to my hands and knees. He was going to finish me off, but one of my sisters put a wall of ice between us. He kicked through it, and shattered her ribs. He said a couple of insults, and then inadvertently reminded me I was a vampire. I latched onto his throat and drank him dry, and then took his head with the sword my girlfriend is carrying. Then, in death, he saddled me with being the focus for all of vampire kind."
Candace stood there for several seconds, before the look on her face started to become annoyed, "Why would you come up with such a story. Why would you bother fighting like that? I don't know how many unruly vampires you have just willed the life from, all because you didn't see a point in using the energy to kill them."
Many eyes went wide and looked to Tekeshi, who could only look up and ask, "I can do that? What the hell? There has to be an end to this cosmic joke. I can just will vampires to die, as if I didn't need a whole other nightmare in my life. Look, Candace, these are my parents here. They aren't brainwashed, nor are they coerced to act in any way. I am only seventeen years old, about to be eighteen in a few weeks. My parents are in their late thirties."
Akasha rolled over to her family, "Can we have a second outside, now. This is very important," she said quietly.
Tsukune looked at the two women, and then back at his mother in law, "Ladies, can you give all of us just a second. We just need to, get our thoughts together."
"Fine, I need a moment to compose myself, and to let Simona breath," it was easy to see that she wasn't happy with the interruption.
Despite the logistics of two women in wheelchairs needing to be pushed out of the door relatively quickly, it only took a few minutes for everyone to reconvene in the plaza outside the main entrance of the building. Thankfully they had also started to acclimate to the sheer oppressive power that the woman let off, so they were able to think much easier.
"Grandma, what did you say in there," Tekeshi asked as he sat down on a bench, Utsuki joining him.
"She's, she's my grandmother. I don't understand this, my mother and aunts were supposed to be the only ones that could wake her up. She has been asleep for at least six hundred years. This is, I don't, it shouldn't be possible," Akasha was breathing heavy still, more out of shock than anything else at this point.
"There has to be something up then. Something weird. That was Shinso's wife. She...," he trailed off.
Issa then spoke up, "Actually, if that is true, it completely changes most of my theories about why he was able to transfer the power to you."
"Father," Moka asked, confused with what he meant.
"Gifu, what do you mean by that," Tsukune also asked, almost fearing he was reaching a similar conclusion.
"If this is true, that would mean that Tekeshi is the closest male relative to Shinso, and was the only male relative, with human blood, that was able to feel whatever call he put out," the older vampire said, seeming still in the process of mentally rewriting his thoughts.
"Then, why wouldn't I have heard it, I was born human, and my vampiric blood came from Moka, who would be a direct descendant in this case," Tsukune asked.
Akasha answered, "But you aren't in the direct lineage. I have to be wrong. That would make me Shinso's granddaughter. It just isn't possible. I don't want to think that it could be possible."
Tekeshi's face retreated back into being unreadable, "Grandma, what did your mother say about her parents?"
"Not much really. She never talked about grandfather, only said that it was so much more peaceful since he had decided to leave on his journey, at least that is what she called it. Grandmother, she just said that she had gone into torpor, and that one day something would happen, and she was supposed to go wake her, but not before. All I knew of her were paintings. Apparently Grandfather couldn't stay still long enough for anyone to do a portrait of him, so I don't know what he looked like. Keep in mind I was very young then. I wasn't even a shinso yet. Eight, I don't think any older. My mother and aunts were killed when humans attacked Alucard's kingdom, and he saved me."
"Who was Alucard," her grandson asked, not overly familiar with the name.
"Vlad Tepes Dracul, would most likely be the name you know, or Vlad Tepes III," Akasha responded.
It took a few moments of processing before Tekeshi spoke again, "So, they were most likely speaking some dialect of Romanian. Uh, good question I should have asked earlier, because I can't really tell anymore, but is the other woman a vampire. I wasn't really looking at her teeth, and I don't know if anyone could feel her past Candace."
Moka shook her head, "I think she is human. I don't understand why she was talking through her though. That is really weird, and I am a little concerned that it isn't completely consenting."
"You don't think that she is some kind of slave, do you," Tsukune looked down at his wife, worried that she might be right.
"It, wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility, but not very likely. It would be hard to convince anyone to willing submit to slavery in this day and age. Um, Tekeshi, I know that things are a little stressful, but don't you think that it might be prudent to, banish I guess is the best term, the revolver you have tucked in your belt," Issa suddenly noticed the weapon.
Tekeshi looked down and realized it was still there. It was strange how after all these weeks of being safe, it still gave him a degree of comfort to have it right there. Still, his grandfather was right, and he drew it and sent it back into the ether of where, whatever, was. He really didn't need it, especially against other vampires it appeared, at that moment.
"So, uh, to address the other elephant in the proverbial room. Is there supposed to be some sort of level cap, or did I play too many video games when I was younger, and have the mistaken idea that at some point, I should stop finding things that I can do? I don't want to be able to kill other vampires with my mind, what if I do it by accident? Can I also bring them back if I do it right away? God damn it. I hate this whole demigod thing," he put his head in his hands as he spoke.
Tsukune grimaced, "I won't lie and say that the idea is, not utterly terrifying. What legends and such I have been able to pull together don't give a good insight into who Shinso was, and what he was capable of. If you go by the stories altogether, and assume they are all true, he was completely unlimited in the power he possessed. Even if you only believe half of them were true, it still seems like there wasn't a limit to his power. Given that he was over six thousand years old, almost as or older than Madonna is, there is a chance that there truly isn't a limit to the power he developed."
"Uh, Mother," Moka suddenly spoke up.
"Yes Dear?"
"If she is your grandmother, and she was Shinso's wife, is there a chance that she could also be a first generation of shinso? Directly from him," Moka asked,
"Whoa, could she be," Utsuki finally spoke up herself.
Issa, Tsukune, Akasha, and Tekeshi all looked up at each other. That part had never even occurred to them. The oldest known shinso alive was technically Akasha, though given the twenty year abscense from life there was an argument that Cumman Mac Sitric might actually take that mantle, or would have if Candace hadn't of come along.
"That would explain why she is so powerful. The blood in her veins is completely pure, It never mixed with anyone but her. It might amplify far greater than it would for anyone that received it third or fourth hand," Tsukune looked over at his father in law as he spoke.
Tekeshi looked between the two, "Amplify?"
"Ah, yes, I don't know that we have ever had a chance to discuss that theory of mine. I believe that Shinso's blood, I guess technically now yours, though I would refrain from declaring all shinsos now be known as Tekeshi vampires going forward. I don't think it would have quite the same ring to it. Anyways, I believe the blood acts as an amplifier, rather than as a source of power. Which is why, for the brief moment you were completely unsealed, you were the most powerful shinso alive. You were destined to be extremely power as is, and as you took injuries, and more and more of your blood was replaced by the shinso blood, that power was amplified more and more. That said, your blood came from your parents. Your mother's, came from your grandmother. Hers came from Alucard, and there isn't anyway to know how far removed he was from Shinso," Issa said.
"So it would be like a note from a guitar being played directly through a single amplifier, rather than going through multiple pieces of equipment before it hits the speakers. It is the note, with no modifications, and not watered down among all the other instruments that are competing in those speakers," Tekeshi phrased the question in the way that he best understood.
"I'm not a musician myself, but I would say yes, that is the gist of it. Though one could also compare it to the children's game of telephone. At some point, the blood does become somewhat diluted, as I would say that there is some other element that causes the amplification, rather than the DNA, given that no one has suddenly turned into Shinso himself. Though I am also not a scientist, so I am not sure if such would be possible. If she is truly who she says she, and you say she is, then it would explain your being able to take on his power."
Tsukune crossed his arms as he looked down at the ground in thought, "The idea is honestly terrifying. However, it brings up questions. Why is Utsuki here on level with Akasha, given that there are three, links in the chain, between them.? Moka and I were the strongest shinsos alive for two decades, and me only because of everything my body went through before I was awakened. There isn't any consistency to really lay out the theory now that this woman has appeared."
"Could being human have something to do with it," Utsuki asked.
"Wait, Candace was born human, so was Dad, and so were you. I don't know that there is anyway to correlate it though," Tekeshi said.
"I know that me and Maggie are both bored and confused. Rather than argue over that, shouldn't the discussion be on how this situation needs to be handled? If I'm not wrong, there is the equivalent of a nuclear arsenal sitting in your office. Whether we get her to understand that Tekeshi isn't Shinso or not, we need to figure out how to keep her from going on the war path," Akua spoke up, rather tired of being ignored, though truthfully aware of how little she would have been able to contribute to the conversation to that point.
"Akua, Tekeshi could easily deal with her, so that isn't an issue. What we need is to understand what she is, so that we know how to deal with her. This isn't a situation in which hitting the problem harder makes it stop being a problem. Hitting this problem harder, most likely would lead to it becoming a much greater problem. Care and consideration are more important than usual," Issa looked over at his oldest daughter.
"I mean, if Tekeshi hit her very hard, then she definitely wouldn't be a problem anymore," Utsuki said, a slightly sadistic smile on her face.
Tekshi shook his head, "Well, she has the proper vampiric jealousy down pat. 'Suki, I'm not killing her just because you are upset with her calling me her husband. Besides, she isn't my type."
"Just what is your type then," this was an obvious trap.
"If you can wait on an answer until we leave for summer break, I will make sure you know every night of it," Tekeshi replied with his typical crooked smile.
Akasha leaned over to whisper to Issa, "Well, I thought you never interacted with him."
"I didn't. It just looks like some things properly passed through generations. I'm actually rather proud of him for that. That said, I am not quite sure I am ready to be a great grandfather. I'm still working on just trying to be a grandfather," the man replied.
Moka rolled her eyes, "You two keep it in your pants. At least Kari didn't want to deal with the situation. I do partially agree with Akua. We need to figure out how we are going to control the situation. Hopefully without violence breaking out. If she is actually part of our family, I don't care who she was married to, or who else we are related to. For now, we just need to get her to understand that Tekeshi is not Shinso in another form."
"The problem is, she seems to have as much faith in me being him, as the Spanish Inquisition had in everyone being a witch. I have no clue how the hell we get her to see reason. I don't even know why she thinks I am him. I really haven't stopped to consider that part of it," he went silent as he took on a questioning look.
"Tekeshi," Utsuki tilted her head as she looked up at his face.
"Are you ok," Akasha asked, wondering what was working its way through his head.
"Why does she think that, I, am Shinso? I'm definitely not him. I just too...," he trailed off, almost as he seemed to realize something.
Tsukune looked at his son, "Tekeshi, what did you just realize?"
"She isn't seeing the person. She is feeling the power. I think, that she never had any other knowledge of who Shinso was, except the demigod. She doesn't have any ability to understand that, he could have passed that on. The idea that he could ever have died, isn't something that she can process at any level. I need to go back and talk to her again. I, think it might be best...," he was interrupted quickly.
"Not happening. I have no intent of leaving you alone with her. For all we know, she decided to get naked and is waiting to ambush you the second you walk through that door. She must think that you are going to go back in and say that you couldn't afford to let everyone else know who you really are. Then she is," Tekeshi quickly swept her up in his lap and silenced her with a kiss so deep, the oceans would have been shallow compared to it.
"Oh, Issa, I remember when you used to do that with me and Gyokoru. She is a really lucky girl. A, quite impressive imagination, that is for sure. I think they are going to have the cutest children that this world has ever seen. I think I am ready to be a great grandmother," Akasha couldn't help but smile.
"Dear, I'm just approaching three hundred. I'm really not ready to even think of being a great grandfather. Though, when you are better, we might see about making you a mother again," Issa looked over at her.
"That better be a promise, or the marriage is off."
