Fir-err Second Gym Battles
After the battle Slate finally made it out of the Viridian Forest without event finally making it to Peweter City. Now outside the Pokecenter Slate had all his pokemon healed up all but one that rested in it's pokeball in his hand.
"Okay let's see what's up with you." Slate said to himself as he sat on a bench pokedex out hovering just over the ball.
Scyther - Male - LV 25 - Technician
Leer, Quick Attack, Fury Cutter, False Swipe, Wing Attack, Double Team, Double Hit, Slash, Focus Energy, Sword Dance (Highlighted and Blinking- Acrobatic,Brutal Swing, Steel Wing, Swift, Air Slash)
"Huh?" Slate wide eyed stared at his pokedex knowing was something wrong. "I gotta talk to the Professor." Running back into the Pokecenter he ignored everyone as he rushed the computer.
After a few minutes the familiar face of Professor Oak greeted him.
"Hello Slate calling again so soon." he asked only to notice the expression the youth gave him.
One Explaination later
Rubbing his chin in thought Professor Oak gave a silent pray hoping against hope what he was thinking wasn't true. "It sound to me that someone overloaded there Pokemon with TM."
"Huh that's a thing? People give pokemon TM's all the time, Gary's probably loaded all of his pokemon with them."
"Yes but only one at a time and there is a cool down time allowing the pokemon to properly process the information. It's an unspoken rule to do this, in fact the TM were even updated to prevent this, who ever did this must have gotten it hacked." Oak explained before a stern look covered his face.
"So while some TM attacks may work sometimes but they are not to be relied on. Not to mention the Pokemon will become unpredictable and aggressive." he warned with a thousand yard stare.
"Don't gotta tell me twice, half of it's attcks came up short." Slate joked only to get serious. "So what do I do? Is there anything I can do to help Scyther."
"Time! He'll need time to process the information. It is either that or get a Move Deleter to drop them." The Pokemon Professor said rather subdued wishing there was more he could do.
"In or out of the ball?"
"Half and half." the Pokemon Professor responded with a similiar hand gesture.
"Thanks Prof I'll look after Scyther and give you an update if there is any progress." he said rubbing his temples. "Oh before I forget I'm sending you one of the pokemon I caught."
"Good when this is over you and Scyther could be a perfect team." the Professor said with a smile. "Oh before I forget Daisy asked me to call her tonight after her shift with me." he completely missed the smile on Slate's face as they hung up.

Now standing outside the Pewter City Gym Slate stared at it knowing this was the first step on is Journey to become the next Champion of Kanto and after who knows maybe challenge the other Regions.
Releasing a breathe Slate opened the door walking through only seeing perpetual darkness as he walked in the darkness quickly faded as a bliding light engulfed the room revealing an appropriate rock theme arena.
"Ah A Challenger." Sitting on a rock was a dark skinned young man but still older then him. This was the "The Rock-Solid Pokémon Trainer Brock!"
Giving a two finger salute. "Hey names Slate from Pallet Town, and I challenge you to a Gym Battle!" he said pulling out his pokeball.
"I Brock the Pewter City Gym Leader accept your challenge." Drawng his own Pokeball. "This will be a two on two battle only the challenger can change pokemon."
"Two on two, okay Bulbasaur already got his big win against Scyther so plan C it is."
With the challenge set the two threw there pokeballs onto the battlefield.
"Geodude!/Throwdown Nidoran !"
In a flash of light two pokemon one being the blue Poison Type the other was a Rock Type which was a rock with two eyes a mouth and a pair of arms.
"I'll start this off Geodude Rock Throw!"
"GEO!" Geodude punches the ground, making rocks fly at the opponent.
Seeing the attack coming Nidoran sprang into action jumping around dodging the boulders that soared through the air.
"Nidoran use Poison Sting!"
Jumping off one of the flung boulder Nidoran opens its mouth and fires multiple purple darts from its mouth at the opponent.
"Geodude dodge using dig!" slamming his hands into the ground the rock-type quickly dug itself into the ground dodging the attack.
Nidoran looked around frantically leaving her unprepared for the uppercut from the resurfacing Rock-type.
"Now use Seismic Toss."
"Counter with Fury Swipes!"
Still in the air Nidoran started repeatedly scratches the opponent with its glowing claws that the Rock/Ground type tanked as it grabbed her floating into the air and falls, spinning as it falls and throws the posion type to the ground before they both hit it.
Slate watched in shock as his pokemon was slammed into the ground after just taking a powerful ground type attack.
"Nidoran get up!" Slate shouted his pokemon quickly jumping back to her feet. "That's my girl use Tail Whip followed with Iron Tail!"
Nidoran turns around and waves her tail back and forth in the air. Once done she jumped into the air as her tail began to glow white with steel type energy.
Geodude placed it's arms over it's chest hoping to block it only for the distorted move to lower it's defense.
Seeing the attack coming. "Geodude dodge!" Brock attempted to order a counter only for the still distracted Rock Pokemon to get slammed into the ground by a white glowing tail.
When the dust cleared Geodude was down and out as his eyes swirled in defeat.
"NIDORAN!/That's my girl!" the two cheered as Nidoran jumped into her trainers arms nuzzling his cheek.
Brock returned his pokemon smiling at it lovingly. "Good job my old friend." Quickly replacing his ball with another Brock stared over at his opponent. "Well done for your first Gym battle but get ready cause I'm about to take this seriously and I'll do that with my oldest partner. Go Onix!"
Once the ball hit the ground in a flash of like out came a Pokémon composed of a giant chain of gray boulders that become smaller towards the tail. Slate had to look up as its length truly makes it the tallest Rock-type Pokémon. It has black eyes and a rounded snout. On top of its head is a rocky spine.
This was the "Rock Snake Pokémon- Onix!"
Once released the giant pokemon raised it's mouth to the sky before releasing a monsteruois roar that distorted the air around it.
A determined smirk covered Slate's face knowing this was going to be tough battle. "Nidoran do you want to rest or keep battling?!" fully aware of the damage she had taken earlier.
Nidoran matched her trainers energy ready to battle.
"Good use Tail Whip!"
Nidoran turns around and waves her tail back and forth in the air.
"Ahh trying to lower Onix's defense probably for another Iron Tail, well two can play that game. Onix use Screech!"
Onix opens its mouth and the inside of it glows white.
"Uh oh Nidoran move." Slate quickly called out.
It was to late as Onix then releases a light blue cylinder beam from its mouth at the opponent with a force so powerful it actually pushed Nidoran backwards.
"Now finish it with Slam!"
Nidoran could do nothing as Onix's massive tail slammed into her embedding her into the ground.
Slate drew his pokeball not even needing to hear the call as he knew the combo combined with previous battle damage there was no way Nidoran could walk that off.
"Return Nidoran." he commanded looking at the ball fondly. "Good job girl your first gym battle and you kicked ass."
Drawing his second ball Slate nodded his head. "Time to end this~ Throwdown Poliwag."
"Poli!" the tadpole pokemon shouted ready to avenge his fallen teammate.
Seeing the water type staring down his giant pokemon Brocks brow slowly rose. "Y-You had a water type and didn't use it first? Your either brilliant, crazy or stupid saving your clear advantage for last?"
Slate shoulder shrugged. "Maybe I'm all three you don't know me." With nothing left to say. "Poliwag... Bubble Beam!"
At the same time. "Onix use dig!"
Onix quickly buried itself into the ground just as Poliwag releases a barrage of light blue bubbles from its mouth at the opponent now only hitting air.
Slate looked at the hole formed by the Rock Snake before he smirked with inspiration. "The same move won't work twice. Poliwag Water Gun the hole!"
"POLI!" Jumping into the air the water-type jumped into the air before releasing a stream of water from the swirl on its stomach into the hole.
"Onix NO!" Brock cried to late as seconds later Onix was blasted out of the hole with a groan of pain. Rising from the ground Onix while injuried looked raring to go.
"Onix?" Brock asked in concern only to lock eyes with his pokemon both nodding in understanding. "Use Rock Throw!"
"ONIX!" Onix slams its tail into the ground and rocks fly out at the opponent. While this happened it slowly slipped it's tail into one of the holes in the ground.
"Poilwag dodge and use Hypnosis." Slate watched as Poliwag jumped out of the way of the incoming rocks soaring through the air.
Just as a tail made of stone shot out one of the nearby holes wrapping itself around Poliwag pulling him through the hole coming face to face with the giant Pokemon that processed to wrap itself around the tiny tadpole crushing it against its rocky surface.
"POLI!" Poliwag shouted as he attempted to free himself shooting waterguns random directions.
"Trapped by my Onix even a type advantage won't help if you can't actaully hit your opponent." Brock had a point Slate saw the battle knowing he had to do something. This is truly a gym battle while not as powerful as Giovanni Brock truly earned his title as Gym Leader.
Onix continued to swing around never giving Poliwag a chance to get a clear shot. Seeing this Slate perked up. "Poliwag wait for it..." Slate said as he watched the Rock Snake move around. "wait for it..." The moment Onix leaned back. "use Water Gun Full Power!"
The extra pressure by the full powered stream of water caused the behemoth pokemon to fall off balance causing to topple over landing on the ground releasing the water type.
Quickly taking advantage of the situation. "Poliwag use Hypnosis!" Hearing the command he quickly ran up the rocky terrian of his opponent before jumping into the air using the attack on the grounded pokemon releasing the Psychic his eyes glew a light blue and the opponent falls asleep.
Seeing the end Slate was about to order another full powered Watergun only for a familiar red light to surround Onix signaling its return. On the otherside of the field Brock looked fondly at his oldest pokemon thanking it for a job well done before making his way over to Slate.
"You have defeated both of my pokemon and showed a knowledge of both your pokemon and how to use them effectively in battle. It is with this I Brock Leader of the Pewter City Gym present you with this." In his hand was a simple gray pin in the shape of a octagon.- The Boulder Badge. Along with the badge he was also handed a reward of 1400 pokedollars and a TM containing RockTomb.
With the badge and reward in his hands Slate stared at it in awe for all of a minute. "YAHOO!" he shouted as he scooped Poliwag into his arms as he jumped around.
After a few minutes of cheering Slate calmed down placing Poliwag down he extended his hand which Brock happily grasped. "Thank you for the chance to battle but I have a request?"
This made Brock rubbed his chin in confusion.
"When I complete my journey, before I make it to the League I plan to get stronger, stronger then everyone else. So when that happens I would like to come back and have a full 6-on-6 battle." the fire in Slate's eyes were display of his resolve.
Getting the idea Brock smacked his fist into his palm at the explaination. "Ah I see. Then yes once you get your other badges return here and we'll have a full 6-on-6 battle."
