"Scyther use Slash, Ivysaur counter with Razor Leaf!" at the command the mid-stage pokemon released a barrage of sharp-edged leaves at the target. At the same time the Bug-type was hacking and slashing at the leaves cutting them to ribbons before rushing forward. The Seed Pokemon quickly countered with his vines causing a stalemate.

"Nidoran use Thunderbolt, Poliwhirl Mudshot!" Nidoran's horn sparks with yellow electricity as she releases a beam of yellow electricity from her body at the opponent. At the same time Poliwag takes in a breath and its chest and cheeks expand. Then opens his mouth and shoots out several blobs of mud that soared through the air crashing into the incoming bolt of lighting. Despite the type advantage stray bolts of electricity coursed through the air as the poison type waved her horn aiming it at the water type.

"Finish the rest off with Water Pulse!" Poliwag cupped his hands together creating a blue sphere of energy. "POLI!" he then fires the spheres at the stray bolt, once the two collided the orb explodes into a wave of water. The Poison type would have been washed away if not for a timely used Protect.

Being the weakess of the team Beedrill and Gible were sparing using Fury Cutter and Metal Claw respectively.

Not one to let his team overshadow him Slate was currently doing his fourth set of push-ups while giving out orders.

On the sidelines Giselle could only watch in shock no wonder he beat her. Though she had to admit he was certainly cut from all his working out, the guys at Poketech had nothing on him.

It has been a few days since Giselle became Slate's newest traveling companion while things have been going pretty well what with Giselle's xtransceiver keeping them from getting lost there have been a few nicks in the road. Due to her upbringing Giselle while having it down in theory lacked actual survival skills which slowed them down (Slate used that extra time to train so silverling) which in itself was fine until she excepted Slate to take care of her something Slate ignored mostly. It didn't help that she complained- a lot which in retrospect Slate could assume it was thanks to her upbringing more then out of malice towards traveling due in part to the look of wonder permanently etched on her face whenever she saw a pokemon in there natural habitat.

The orders would fall on deaf ears as Slate would simply walk away from her mid sentence (he cooked but that was simply because the one time she did they were floored for an entire day.) And when that failed she took to the tried and true method that must have always got the school boys falling to their knees.

Giselle used Attract

("Boy it's hot out here."she often say while pulling the front of her short down drawing Slate's eyes to a drop of sweat slowly rolling down her neck to the valley of her massive milkers.)

Knowing what she was up to Slate did the only thing he could to take his mind off Giselle's twin peaks whenevere they popped up in his head redoubled his focus on his training. No the real problem was-

"So have you caught anything?" Slate asked as he finished packing up camp.

Giselle could only sigh thinking about the question as she finished packing (It took only a mile into her journey before she quickly bought a backpack from a nearby town). "Well um you see." she rubbed the back of her head sheepishly a habit she picked from her recent travels. "I caught another Ground type."

"A Ground Type again?"

With a flourish spin before placing her hand over her face in the shape of a side V. "Yes now I'm the proud owner of my first pokemon a Sandshrew! I caught him while you were training, which you do alot."

Slate nodded his head knowing that it took a special trainer the ones who either become Gym Leaders or even Elite Four members to swarm the field with only one type of pokemon. "One I thought you had others? You battled me using a Graveler at the school?" he asked curiously what is a Champion without a challenge once in a while.

"Ah Ah Ah! That was when I was a student now that I'm not." Giselle said with a wag of her finger. Her smug tone dropped as a sweatdrop dripped down her head. "I only have the one pokemon my Grandfather gave me while he was on vacation." Slate rolled his eyes knowing this was going to be a thing with her, with that the two continued their journey.

"Slate?"

"Yes Giselle."

"We're in a hole?"

"I can see that."

"Is this a normal traveling thing?"

"Not in the time I've been traveling."

"Squir~tle!" a chorus of voices said in a singsong tone. The duo looked up to see five small reptilian light-blue pokemon. Each of their hands and feet had three pointed digits. The end of their long, squirrel-like tail curls inward as their bodies were encased by a tough shell. This shell is brown on the top, pale yellow on the bottom, and has a thick white ridge between the two halves. The only thing that was difference was there matching blue-ish jackets and that all five wore round sunglasses except the middle leader Squirtle whose was more spiked.

"Giselle your smart, are Squirtle's common out here?" While he hadn't seen any starters on his journey so far he figured they came from somewhere out in Kanto he hadn't been to. Tapping her bottom lip cutely the ex-student explained. "It's rare but they do exist in small pockets of the region, sometimes they are captured and sent to other regions for study like a cultural exchange program. They must have been abandoned by their trains."

Hearing this piece of information the Pallet Town Natives eyes pracitcally popped out of his skull. Besides that idiot Cross he hadn't seen a single starter since he started his journey (and Arceus dammit he looked) and not one, not two but five fools decided to abandon theirs. They must be dumber then a Slowpoke!

"PPBBBTT WHY!?" any other words were ignored as one of the Squirtle's shot Slate in the face with a Water Gun. Wiping his face Slate looked back up at the water types "What the-PPPBBTT!" Only for two water blasts sending him back to the ground. Back on his feet Slate's eye started to twitch. "Okay I thin-PPPBBBTTT!" this time four water gun floored him again. Still on the ground Slate raised a finger. "W-PPPPPPPBBBBBBTTTTTT!" at that same moment all five blasted him.

Giselle looked at her traveling partner completely soaked with a rather blank expression on his face. "Slate I think they enjoy messing with people." This was confirm as a quintet of laughter was sent from above.

The sound of deep breathing was all she got in response as Slate's eyes were locked fully on the water turles. "I was gonna give you guys a chance. Maybe we could work something out but now you lost the right to complain."
"Complain about what?" Giselle questioned not getting the threat.

Rather then answer a pokeball was sent soaring through the air out of the pit above the misfit turtles.

"Thunderbolt!" was all he said as Nidoran burst from her ball her horn sparks with yellow electricity as she releases a beam of yellow electricity engulfing the unsuspecting water-types. "You brought this on yourselves!" the Pallet native shouted out. "Now we just need to get out this ho-" he froze as a bright light shined from outside the hole.

"Oh Giratina!" Throwing another ball out the pit. "Ivysaur Vinewhip I can't miss this!" Two vines shot out of the pit wrapping around his wrists quickly pulling him out the pit onto his feet staring at the sight before him.

Missing the initial glow now as the light faded before him stood a four legged sky-blue pokemon with dark blue patches. She has red eyes, large, spiny ears, and has two pointed teeth protruding from its upper jaw on her back were large poison spikes and while larger then it's pre-evolution still a stubby tail.

A smile on his face spoke for itself as he looked at his newly evolved Nidorina who turned locking eyes with her trainer. "NIDORINA!" Rather then snarl the poison type smile as she cried her name as she charged forward.

"Oh thank Arceus, I thought she'd go wild once she evolved but here she is as sweet and loving as always. Why is she running ov-OH Fuck." Slate's thought caught up with him as he remembered his poison types favorite way to celebrate. "Nido Wait! Nido Wait! Your not that small anymoooooooooooooo!" His warning few on death ears as the newly evolved Pokemon tackled her trainer just past Giselle and Ivysaur back into the hole.

"Ooooowwww." Slate weezed out in pain.

"What should we do with them?" Giselle asked in actual interest as the duo eyed the unconscious twitching Squirtles laying in a heap before them worriedly they could report them to an Officer Jenny or a Nurse Joy. Her Grandfather could probably-

The problem was solved as Slate threw four pokeballs capturing four (including the leader) of the Squirtles after only one shake a click indicating they were caught leaving one of the round-glasses Squirtles. "So gonna catch it or not?"

Giselle in an unlagylkie manner stood there stunned jaw dropped at the remark, getting a starter was rare so rare in fact that unless you were sponsored by a Regional Professor or be someone who personally knew the regions Professor it was practically impossible. The only other way was to be from a weathy family and paying for one or find one out in the wild which due to there rarity equaled to the cost of an arm and leg. She couldn't let an opportunity slip away but one question lingered on her mind. "Why? You heard me tell you earlier how rare they are. You could sell them making hundred of thousands of pokedollars at least for just one why offer one to me?" she asked already mentally kicking herself for saying that last part no way would anyone give up that kind of money.

Despite the speech Slate kept a blank expression as he eyed the curvy PokeTech student. "Sigh... do you have another Pokemon?"

"What!?" Giselle jumped back causing her large breasts to jiggle something Slate caught a quick glance down before continuing.

"I asked if you had another pokemon, you said you caught another ground type. But I'm guessing it's not a Ground/Water type right?"
"N-No." not sure were he was going with this.

"So there you go." Silence was all he got as Giselle gave him a flat look. Noticing it Slate continued. "I'm selfish!"

"Huh!?"

"I want to be the Champion of Kanto to do that I need to win the league, take on the Elite Four and then Lance. In order to do that I need to catch a lot of strong pokemon, and battle as many strong trainers a possible. So if it helps me get stronger I don't mind giving away a pokemon especially if I have multiples of it."

Giselle's mouth was agape that the honestly impressive amount of self awareness of the selfiness of such a supposedly selfless act. She didn't know what bothered her more his complete blase attitude toward traveling (It rained at least three times in the past few days and while she continued to complain he just ignored it). Or how one tracked minded he is as trainer and while she can respect the work ethic other priorities should come first- like the genius, talented, amazing jaw-droppingly gorgeous bombshell traveling with him. While she's caught him checking her out multiple times he made no attempts at making a move not even flirting. This was so much different then being at school the boys were easy to read just give a wink, smile maybe a flirtatious poses and they would fall to their knees as she walked by and the girls were looking more jealous as it happened. She lost count of how many boys got dumped just because she walked by with a little hair flip. Things were easier.

However those days were over she was no longer a student but a budding young trainer taking her first steps to the pros. She no longer had PokeTech resources and had to catch her own pokemon and while Slate was there to help he made it sure he wasn't going to do the work for her. Not willing to look a gift Ponyta in the mouth she threw a ball making a mental note to thank her traveling companion somehow.

"Look at you giving a beautiful girl such a exotic gift, hoping to charm your way into my heart." she fluttered her eyelashes as she flipped her hair. "Or into my bedroom?!" she asked suggestively. "Oh what would my parents think, there young daughter parading around the woods with a rugged trainer." she finished lightly fanning herself with her hand.

"Focus on getting stronger." with that he began walking past her toward the next town.

"Read the mood!" A vein throbbed on the ex-students forehead. "You know when a girl is giving you a sign, you should a least shot your shoot!" she said through gritted teeth. The bastard. A girl like her throws a hook and he just ignores it. At least stammer out a response dammit even the cockest student at PokeTech would try to flirt back.

Slate only thought for a moment before shrugging his shoulders. "Fine."

SMACK!

"AHH!" Giselle's eyes widened, unable to stop her face from heating up as she felt a sting across her ass from where Slate slapped it.

"Let's go!" Slate continued on his way a blush covering his cheeks while finding his hand very interesting . "We're burning daylight!"

Okay not what she excepted dealing more with talkers then men of action but she'll take the win for now. With a spring in her step she followed Slate to the next city, and her first Gym battle. She finally got Slate's attention just a little more and soon she'll have him wrapped around her finger. After all that's what she was aiming for having this trainer at her beck and call just like the rest of the boys back at school.

It's not like she actually wanted his attention, the same care and devotion for his pokemon focused on her being held in his strong muscluar ar-

"Bah yeah right?" she brushed those thoughts away as she walked at a more subdued pace into the unknown. Whatever it's fine for now it's not like she getting a crush on him right. Right?

Author's Notes

That's right Slate more or less caught the entire Squirtle Squad. Don't worry Ash will catch something to compensate. And more importantly Nidoran evolved into Nidorina. Now that all that is out of the way time for the next Gym Battle.
