Hello everybody, and welcome back to another chapter of "A Long Distance Ship". In the last chapter, Ash and friends arrived in a little town on the way to Fortree City and the sixth Hoenn League gym badge. May found out their was going to be a contest there, so she decided to enter it. Will she be able to win ribbon #3. Well, given the title of both the chapter AND the episode it is based on is "Cruisin' for a LOSEin'", I have my doubts... but still, let's get on with the show!

Hey there, Misty. May just competed in the Rubello Town Pokemon Contest, and let's just say that the day did not really go so well for her. It all started when someone tried to steal her and Savannah's ribbons during their pre-contest practice battle… no points for guessing who did it. Fortunately Max, Brock, and I came just in time to help the two coordinators out. Then came the actual contest. For the appeals round, May decided to open up with Beautifly. (I forgot to mention this last email, but an additional rule of the contest is that a different Pokemon must be used for the appeal and battle rounds.) The routine she had with Beautifly was amazing, and her confidence to win was at an all time high as she headed into the battle rounds for a battle against Savannah. I tried giving May some advice on how to succeed, but she ended up pushing me away… and it really affected Bulbasaur going into the battle rounds as May was pushing her Pokemon, even when it was too hurt to continue fighting. She ended up running out of the contest hall, but I comforted her saying that losing can be a good teacher, and she was way too cocky out there. She agreed, as we headed back in to watch Drew win another ribbon. Anyways, we are going to be heading back on the road to Fortree City tomorrow. Talk to you later, Mist!
Ash
PS: Okay, they were not as bad as the North Petalburgians, but still…

Hey there Ash and May. I am sorry that you were unable to win the contest, May. Trust me, even though I wasn't there, I can understand how you felt about how you lost. Togetic didn't like watching you lose either. But Ash is certainly onto something. You should not have pushed him away from you, as he was only trying to help you try and win the contest. Coordinators can really learn from trainers, especially if the coordinator plans on using a Pokemon that the trainer has some experience with. And don't forget there are much more contests to be had, so I am sure you will get back on track soon enough, May. Good luck to both of you on your respective goals!
Misty
PS to Ash: May used two Pokemon, a flying-type that is her second capture in the Hoenn region and a grass-type that was her most recent capture in the region. Both Pokemon start with the same letter. She ended up getting cocky and refused to give up even when the Grass Pokemon was not well enough to fight. She ended up running off before being talked to about her failures and learned a lesson… remind you of someone Ash? ;)
And that is it for this chapter of "A Long Distance Ship". Sure, May didn't win, but there are plenty more contests for her to win a ribbon. And yeah, as Misty noted at the end of her email, this episode was very similar to an episode earlier on in the Advanced Saga. And since yesterday was Thanksgiving (if you are living in America and reading at the time of this chapter's upload), I want to tell you what I am thankful for: I am thankful for Hero602 for adding this story to his favorites and follows list, and for WyldClaw for leaving a review. What I am NOT thankful for, however, are the people running this website, WHO STILL HAVE YET TO FIX THE BUG RELATING TO THE VIEW COUNT! Still, remember to favorite, follow, and review to show how much you love the story. I will see you all next time, and have a good weekend!
